Fenris
Howling Tempest
Rhys Whitlock | Forsaken Dawn Guild Hall, First Floor
While it didn't show, Rhys was relieved when Scarlet spoke up in favor of the second quest. Rabbits didn't sound very dangerous but he had never hunted a day in his life and the prospect of chasing down dozens of little fury escape artists was tiring to even imagine. Besides he had some experience when it came to guarding people and was just as eager to discover new mysteries as the dark elf appeared to be. “Danger often rears it's head when you least expect it, surely that's why the client is willing to pay for our assistance.” He voiced his agreement, “He would make for a resourceful ally indeed.”
The comment had Rhys question his relation to Akar, where they friends? Acquaintances, certainly. He knew the man better than anyone else in the room and could trust in the fact that Akar would use his considerable skills to grow in power and further the goals of the Mercurius family. Yet, would the dark elf be willing to help without personal gain? Would Rhys himself do the same for his former traveling companion now that he yearned for more than the simplistic duties of a living shield?
Before the thoughts had come to a conclusion the tall stranger, whom had healed the black&white earlier, approached; more company following in his wake. The mans jovial attitude and rumbling voice made him easy to like, taking away from the otherwise intimidating height. Even if the sudden question pushed Scarlet to awkwardly explain their curious glances. She managed to recover before Rhys was able to put a steadying hand on her shoulder but still seemed a bit overwhelmed. With a shake of his head Rhys stated, “Hardly. It's actually comforting to see others so well attuned to him, as we have more in common than meets the eye.”
As fate would have it Akar had chosen this moment to make his entrance, garnering a respectful nod from the undead. “Your concern is appreciated.” again the grave tone of voice hid his emotions but coming face to face with the dark elf had helped Rhys reach a conclusion, that they were indeed friends as far as he was concerned. “It appears I'm still most accustomed to dealing with those who call the Madwood their home. This is Scarlet, she is also a practitioner of the necromantic arts, though she has not yet had the fortune of making the acquaintance with one of her own. I actually intended to remedy the situation by introducing you.” The following attempt at a reassuring smile in Scarlets direction could very much have been interpreted as anything from bland to almost threatening.
Drawing his full attention from the first meeting of these two necromancers would have been difficult for anyone, but Gul managed as much with his lighthearted words, “You've learned to cook?” the words sounded incredulous even to Rhys himself, as his features contorted into a mask of confusion seemingly struggling with the simple concept.
