Cutie Pines
"I'm so sorry, Toothless." The dragon in question looked up, nonverbally waving away away the apology with a small jerk of his head. Hiccup sighed, inspecting the wound where the tail fin had once been. The tear was rather gruesome, dried blood staining the raven black scales. "I shouldn't have taken you out here," Hiccup murmured, searching for a moment before removing the strange armor he wore and revealing the faded tunic he wore beneath it. He set the armor aside, making sure the spikes that ran along his spine were facing upward so he wouldn't damage them by sticking them in the ground. He then peeled off the cloth belt that kept the tunic close to his waist, causing the large article of clothing to seem rather baggy. He wrapped the cloth of his belt around the wound, biting his lip as he tied it. He wanted it to be secure, but at the same time, he was worried about jarring the wound. He sighed, sitting back and inspecting his hands. They were stained scarlet from the night before. He moved over to the lake, washing them off as he pondered over the previous night's events. A viking boy had shot them boy, a boy hardly any brawnier than himself and a little bit taller. With his messy hair and warm eyes, he didn't look anything like how his mother had described vikings to look, but Hiccup supposed not all vikings were the same. He shrugged a little to himself, sighing and wiping his hands on his leggings. "So, what're we gonna do, bud?" He asked as he walked back over to Toothless, planting his hands on his hips and looking around, "I mean, we can't fly back. I guess if we could find a Terror, we could send mum a message..." He sighed once more, reaching up to run his fingers through his hair. What a mess he had gotten them into. He hadn't meant for this to happen. He was just curious.

Oh my god. I did it, I shot down a night furry. Take that dad! Take that Bullies. Jack still wasnt over how he had shot down a dragon, not to mention that it was the rarest dragon, last night. "Whoooo! Im on such a joy ride right about now." Jack smiled a pearly white smile and ran his fingers through his hair remembering last night.

"Jack, stay in the house!" Commanded his father. "But dad, I'm not a child anymore, I should be out there protecting the village! " "I lost your sister and mother, I wont lose you too. Now stay here!" His father ran out into the fray. "Stay here, yeah right." Jack snorted and went outside. Dragon fire illuminated the village and the shouts and clanging of vikings could be heard.

Long story short, Jack hit the dragon and it fell. He didn't know where so he grabbed his pack full of supplies and set out looking for the dragon and avoiding his dad at the same time.

Toothless, sensing the drop in Hiccup's mood, padded on over, his tail hovering delicately above the ground since it stung when he dragged it. He nudged Hiccup's hand and the auburnette jolted, drawn out of his self-pitying. He stroked the dragon's nose gently, smiling a little bit. "You're right, bud. It already happened and there's no changing it, so let's focus on the task at hand instead of regretting the past," He muttered, speaking with a wisdom beyond his years, "What should we do first? Getting in contact with mum is obviously important, but if I can find some way to fix your tail, we can get back quickly and tell her we went out for a ride and got lost. No need for her to know we came here." Toothless narrowed his eyes and snorted, giving Hiccup an unimpressed look. "I know, I hate the idea of lying to her as much as you do, but you know she'd have my head if she knew I came here. You know, the one place she told me specifically to avoid?" Hiccup reminded him, picking up the discarded armor and setting it on a rock. Toothless grunted, causing Hiccup to roll his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I know. You told me we shouldn't do it. What was that you were saying earlier about not dwelling on the past?" Hiccup grumbled, looking around the cove once more. It was an open area, a lake, a few trees, a rock here and there. There weren't any places where they could find shelter from the elements, which worried Hiccup slightly. He liked to think that they could find a way to get back before they had to face any serious weather, but something in him said that hoping for such was nothing but wishful thinking. Cold, that Hiccup could deal with. He'd grown up in a sanctuary of ice, after all. But there were certain weathers that the sanctuary had protected him from, certain weathers he'd never experienced. He'd never been allowed out when it was too windy, or too rainy, or when the little chunks of ice poured from the sky. He was generally allowed to go for a ride if it was snowing, but not if it was snowing too hard. His mother could really be so overprotective sometimes. He jumped, drawn out of his thoughts, when a small crack came from somewhere behind him, like a twig being stepped on. He whipped around, eyes scanning the trees that lined the ledges that encaged them, as Toothless trotted over to stand beside him, wrapping his tail protectively around his waist.

Jack escaped berk without a hitch. Phew, dad didnt catch me. He thought jogging away. Now, I have to find that dragon. Where could it have fallen? I should find it before anyone else does. He wondered. Jack searched for what seemed to be hours. All he could see was miles upon miles of forest. "Ugh, where could that reptile be? It couldn't have gotten far being injured." He groaned while shaking his head. While he was walking around, jack came close to a clearing in the woods. A large lake with rocks every so often where in front of him. Jack's eyes grew wide because there was a very large, black, reptile about sixty feet in front of him. Yet that wasn't the most shocking part. The most shocking part was the auburnette boy talking TO the beast. The boy was about the size of Jack himself. But his hair was a lot darker compared to Jack's. Well any color is dark compared to white. Does this boy have a death wish or something? He was about to step forward when a twig snapped underneath his foot. Ah crap. Jack whipped around and hid behind the nearest tree.

When Hiccup didn't see anything, he relaxed a bit, resting a hand on Toothless's head. The dragon, however, remained quite tense, peering at the trees and growling softly. "Calm down, Toothless," Hiccup muttered, absently patting the dragon's head before strolling a short distance away, his gaze wandering the sky as if searching for something, "It was probably just an animal. What would one of them be doing all the way out here? Now, catch some fish. We need to lure in some Terrors." Toothless reluctantly turned, giving an indignant snort that caused Hiccup to roll his eyes. "I'm not bossing you around, I'm asking you a favor," He corrected, and when Toothless didn't move, he added, "Please?" The dragon hesitated, then deflated a little in defeat, padding over to the small pond and waiting for fish to come close enough for him to snatch. "Do you think there are any inhabited islands close enough to swim to? It would be a lot safer to stay on one of those than to stay here," Hiccup mumbled, half to himself and half to Toothless, "You know how they feel about dragons. If anyone found us, you'd be in a lot of danger." He grabbed a stick, and began mapping out what he could remember from mind.

The dragon seems a lot harder to convince than the boy. Honestly what is wrong with him. Dragons are dangerous! Doesnt he know that? Jack was having a really hard time wrapping his mind around and accepting the facts that were right in front of his face. Jack's heart was beating a million miles for minute and was sure that both the dragon and the boy would hear him. Hmm, maybe dragons weren't so bad. Jack could see that the dragon that he had shot down, obviously cared for the boy. He felt a little bad but only a little.

Hiccup walked around, drawing big swooping lines and then setting the stick over his shoulder, looking over his giant map. "Okay, so if this is Berk...these are the Hyena Isles, and that would be the Bog Burglar's land..." He muttered, pointing with the stick and running his fingers through his hair, "This one might not have any people on it, but we can't know for sure. We may just be putting ourselves in more danger..." He sighed, crossing his arms and biting his lip as he thought the situation over. Toothless trotted over, fish held between his gummy jaws. "Oh, good! Put them over there, and the Terrors will come soon enough," Hiccup instructed, pointing to where he wanted Toothless to put the fish.

Jack studied the boy. They wanted to get off Berk? But the boy looked like a viking. Jack pondered that thought that was swirling around. Jack decided that he needed a better view of the two strangers so he placed his bag around his shoulders and lifted himself by his arms and climbed up the bark. Jack perched in the branches and took out a sketch pad to draw. Jack was fascinated by the boy and had a smidge of wariness towards the dragon. When jack was sketching, he dropped his charcoal pencil on the floor. It made a soft thump landing. Crap. He thought.

Hiccup spun around at the small thump, his eyes darting around. He knew he heard something that time. His gaze settled on the boy who peered down at them from a tree and he gasped, taking a small step back. Toothless was by his side in an instant, coiled around him with his mouth open, prepared to shoot a plasma ball. "Wait!" Hiccup ordered, pressing a hand to Toothless's snout and peering closer at the stranger, "...You're the Viking who shot us down!" Toothless continued to growl, but with Hiccup's hand on his nose, he didn't attack. If Hiccup really didn't want him to hurt the stranger, then he wouldn't...unless he tried to attack Hiccup, of course.

"Ah crap." Jack voiced his thoughts. "Stupid hands." He muttered looking down towards his hands. He looked frightened when the nightfurry opened his mouth and it began to glow. Jack quickly jumped down from the tree and landed on the ground. If the dragon decided to attack, well there wasn't much you could do about that. "Yeah, about that.." He clasped his hands behind his back and rocked back and forth on this feet.

Hiccup frowned, scratching Toothless's snout lightly. "You hurt him pretty badly, you know," He snapped, emerald eyes narrowed in an accusatory fashion, "He can't fly anymore. You took off his entire left tailfin." He took a deep breath, and his shoulders relaxed. "Still, I suppose it was a heat of the moment situation," He muttered, turning back to the dragon and scratching beneath his chin. His gaze wandered to the stranger, piercing but curious. "What's your name, anyway? And what are you doing all the way out here?"

Jack looked at the dragons tail. "I'm sorry." He told the boy with the startlingly piercing green eyes. At first the stranger seemed very angry with him then relaxed. "I wanted to prove that I'm not a child any more to my dad." Jack explained. His eyesight drifted to the dragon's wounded tail once again. It looked like it hurt really bad. "My name is Jack. I came out here to find him." He pointed to the black dragon. Jack thought for a moment. "Hmm, you know, back at the village we have fabric and tools. Perhaps if I bring you some, you could fix his tail."

Hiccup nodded slowly, taking the possibility to mind before his gaze wandered upward. "Toothless, my staff," He ordered, and when the dragon didn't move, he rolled his eyes, "Please." Toothless got to his feet and walked over to a nearby rock, lifting a peculiar staff* into his mouth and carrying it over to Hiccup, who gratefully accepted it. He shook it a few times in a very specific manner, and the Terrible Terrors that circled overhead, too nervous to come down due to Toothless, calmed and flew down, heading straight for the fish. One in particular, however, a cherry red one with amber eyes, crawled over to Hiccup, who held out an arm for it to take a perch on. The dragon fluttered onto it and Hiccup straightened, beginning to make a series of soft clicking sounds. The dragon listened intently, and when Hiccup nodded, took off into the air.

What is he doing? Jack wondered when the stranger, who he still hadn't gotten his name, shook the staff around. "Well that's not peculiar at all." Jack commented scarasticly when the terrible terrors came. Jack covered his head with his arms. It was a natural instinct for him, even if they were small. When he heard clicking sounds jack was all what the heck? "Are they gone?" He called out when the clicking stopped.
