Ryrax flipped and landed to sit in the stands, a few feet from Odom. "What is he? That's easy," he replied. "He's a dumbass. GYAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!" he threw his head back to laugh manically.

As he felt two kicks land on his back, Rudd twisted with the momentum, shrugging the blows and turning to deliver a retort. However, even as he turned, he felt a fist on his back, where his front had just been, and stepped forward to retain his balance. His outstretched hand grasped at only the air.

Taking a deep breath, he blinked and steeled his focus. He would not panic. He needed to strategize. Clearly, this man was too fast for him to follow with his eyes, or with his hands. However, if he could anticipate . . . he turned to face his opponent once again, and tried to remember what the old man had taught him. Focus the chakras in his body, and let the mana concentrate on a single task. It was like gathering ki, back at the monasteries surrounding the farm. It was shaky, but he tried to imagine his skin turning to wood, and his bones to iron. He reached out with one hand, flesh to the eyes but, he hoped, steel to the touch, and beckoned to the cocky man ahead of him with a motion of his fingers. "My mother hits harder than you do, you ignorant sow."

-----

Odom became cross. "That does not help, wolf-man." He leaned forward again. "I think . . . he's trying to speak to it. It almost makes sense. The whisperers are starting to organize a bit . . . just a little. If only they knew what he wanted! He could be so strong."

".........Valk Trevastos......" Estelle's silvery eyes turned on him. "He's crossed the line this time. His power has been used for evil and he has shrugged it off?" Above them in the sky, the sun and the moon stood side by side. "I.....I cannot......allow this to happen.....to anyone else......" Estelle looked to Gerza. "The rules......they would allow this to go unpunished. Valk would walk away unscathed. I fear......" Estelle's eyes shone upon Evynne. "I fear that this girl will never be able to use her mana again."

Cerys swallowed. This was just like the night she had first met Estelle. It was happening again. "Estelle.....stop.....you're going to-"

"I'm going to make him pay for his crimes." Estelle saw a medic rush in. "You. Tend to her. I'll be back...." Estelle paused. "Probably on a stretcher. But I will be back." She focused her mana completely, severing a portion of it and sending it into Evynne's unconscious system. It would completely encompass her and speed up the healing process. She would awaken in a few days. And the power would not die when Estelle ran out of mana. With that, she exited the building.

Cerys knew better than to mess with Estelle at this point. Instead, she ran for Ryrax. "Ryrax!" Her voice came to him as she ran up the rows of seats. "We've got a massive problem."

"I see."

There was a flash across the arena as lightning coursed all along his fist

"Let's see if you remain so talkative with a few thousand volts in you."

There was another flash as the man appeared, this time at his side, and the fist connected with Rudd's ribs. With the impact, Rudd would have felt the equivalent of thousand volts flow into his side. Following this, he flowed around Rudd's back, landing another thousand volts on his other side.

The touch was, literally, shocking. With the first strike, Rudd could not even react. With the second, however, he shot the air out of his lungs with a heaving breath out and thrust his hand out to his side, more feeling for his opponent than looking for him. He was staring straight ahead, but he knew that he'd tugged at the man's cloak as he fled. A brief smirk graced his lips, even as the smoke rose from his ribs. He turned again, and again beckoned for his opponent. "Now that . . . that kind of hurt."

Gerza watched as Estelle left, and looked upon the girl laying on the stretcher. 'She never even stood a chance against a monster like that. I've seen excessive force, but this...this is barbarism.' His eyes re-lit with the same blaze as before, but rather than just his pupils, his entire eyes were set ablaze. "Work fast, before you lose her." Gerza said to the medics. He too stepped out after Estelle, his skin starting to give off heat as his hair started to move like a flickering flame, his footfalls burning the ground as he stepped.

Valk narrowed his eyes. The man was a lot sturdier than his skill in artes led on... a LOT. Three minutes had passed. Already longer than he had planned on this. Lightning flowed along both of his arms, and he flew next to the man.

"Perhaps an increase in the voltage then?"

A few thousand volts flew into Rudd's shoulder, hopefully the nerves would numb slightly. And Valk swerved around again, then hit again. And he didn't retreat. He kept flying around the man in circles, hitting him in his ribs, his legs, his head.

Ryrax raised an eyebrow at Cerys. "Do tell."

-----

Mythia gazed up at the eclipse as she strode purposefully through the street, towards the arena where Ryrax's friend Rudd was fighting 'that' Trevastos brat. Hopefully she got there before things went too far South...

Rudds hands snatched at each strike, each time getting a little closer to his opponent. The attacks he received had the force of raw lightning, but he only sank further into his stance, holding steady as he hatched out his plan. finally, one fist landed directly in the center of his chest--and stayed there. It stayed, because he had caught it with both hands. Without hesitating, he twisted his hips, stepped back in his stance, and began to spin, still holding the arm he had caught. "rrrrrrraaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!" The momentum of the attack he had received was such that he managed to make two full rotations before finally releasing Valk, sending him hurtling haphazardly into the stone wall of the arena. Rudd's chest heaved as the dust began to settle, the stone around the impact crumbling like so much packed snow. "Gotcha."

The arena was quiet for about thirty seconds. Not a single soul stirred, not a noise was heard.

Then it happened.

Lightning exploded from the rubble on top of Valk, and flew into sides of the arena. The man's entire form was crackling with the stuff, and his eyes were glowing with a blue light that seemed to completely overshadow his pupils and sclera. No one had the right to push him this far. Least of all this--this--PEASANT!

He flew at the man, and the explosion of lightning flew through Rudd and cracked the concrete behind him. Valk was instantly at the other side of the arena.

"It appears I'll need to pull out all the stops."

Cerys was in full panic mode. "Okay. Estelle is about to go bat s*** and the Cosmos are probably about to be dramatically altered more than they already are." She pointed up at the Sun and the Moon sitting right next to each other and glanced between Ryrax and the odd one. "Seriously, did you not notice the lunar eclipse earlier? And now they're just sitting side by side together?"

----

Estelle breathed in and something changed. Her golden hair became white as snow with silver tips and it seemed to radiate with other-worldly light. Her eyes gleamed even brighter and her skin became as pale as the moon itself. Her footsteps left patches of white fire in their place. Her Lunar form was taking over slowly.

----

Cerys pointed down. "Do you see that? Does that look normal to you?" Her finger pointed to Estelle and Gerze, slowly walking to the arena.

Rudd clenched his right fist and chuckled even as blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. "I can see you." He had felt that impact. Even as human lightning had passed him, he'd caught him right in the solar plexus. And although the proud man feigned otherwise, he knew that he must have felt it. His knuckles were throbbing from the impact. "Look out, thunder boy. You wouldn't want to be outdone by a peasant, would you?" This time, he did not even turn around.

As an angry Valk came flying at him again, he did not try to defend from the attacks. He knew it would be a futile effort. But for as much as the man had sped up, it was becoming easier and easier for Rudd to follow his movements. He read Valk's line of attack from his first step, and even as three fists connected with Rudd in various places, he planted his fist right on Valk's jaw, and the man went careening through the air from his own momentum. There was an audible crack, and it had nothing to do with thunder.

-----

Odom looked at the sky and at the approaching figures. He sighed, realizing that he had no more time to watch as the man below slowly melted the whispering mana around him into his own form. "The moon child. The sun child. How do we stop them?" He tried to listen to the mana around them, but they were so far away, and the men in the ring were causing such a disturbance, that he could not hear it.

Valk clenched his teeth as he skidded across the arena. Was it him . . . or was this man actually becoming more difficult to defeat as he pulled out more and more power? When he merely relied on physical power, he hadn't been able to touch him. when he started to manipulate lightning, he had been injured. And now . . . now even after he was practically a living lightning bolt, he could feel internal bleeding. Valk stood up, gazing into the other man's eyes. His brain was not willing to admit it. It was impossible for someone with no lineage. But he was done holding back anything. It had been just over six minutes now. If he kept at the current pace, he was going to run out of juice before the other one fell. He would have to cut his remaining time short. A lightning bolt flew down from the sky and struck Valk, blinding a good portion of the audience. He slowly walked forward, the concrete melting beneath him.

"I hope, for your sake, that you're as tough as you claim. This has the potential to kill someone."

He dashed at Rudd. It looked like a lightning bolt had flown down from heaven and was leaving a scorching trail on the earth beneath him.

Rudd was unafraid. "Try me, rich boy." Even as the man flew towards him, he opened himself completely, jumping into the air and doing a forward flip with a half twist. He began his descent behind the bolt of lighting, not where he saw it coming--that was impossible--but exactly where he predicted it to be. Before he connected with the ground, he wrapped one arm around Valk's arm, pulling it behind his back. "You're gon' regret fightin' me today!" He wrapped another arm around the man's neck. "You're gon' regret underestimatin' the son of a farmer!" He wrapped his legs around the man's waist, drawing himself into a straight line until he was near entirely pinned. "But most of all--" he cried out as he threw all of his weight back towards the ground, "Yer gon' regret ever layin' a finger on that girl, you inhuman son of a b*tch!"

The ball of lightning came crashing to the ground.

Ryrax shrugged, disturbingly unfazed by the news he'd just received and the power on display by the two star children. "What is normal in this world?" he asked rhetorically. He turned his attention to Odom's inquiry. "No idea, but I'm willing to try anyway." he said and flew down to stand in the entrance of the arena, barring entry of the approaching pair. "I understand I probably can't stop you, but you really should drop it," he said with a casual grin. "What happened to Evynne is unfortunate but such is the nature of this tournament. Such is the nature of people." He shrugged. "It does amuse me how the dogs bite at each other's throats."

"Meanwhile the true beasts grow stronger," Mythia said as she approached. "Estelle. Gerza. Please, allow me to...deal...with Valk," she said, remaining calm, but something in her tone of voice made Ryrax visibly shrink. He was actually afraid of her...because she was getting irritated.

Valk felt the grip around him. This was ridiculous. Even Oliver had never put him into this kind of position. He finally released all of his energy. Lightning was flying all over the arena, causing the nearby watchers and the referee to duck for cover. No man should be able to withstand that kind of voltage. It would kill a lesser creature . . . like an elephant.

Rudd felt electricity flowing through every vessel in his body. He let out a roar. "I will not fall before you, you man-killing son of a dictator! I . . . will . . . endure!" He tightened his grip around the man's neck, blinking and fighting to stay conscious, even as he felt the man's pulse grow more desperate beneath his arm. He had to outlast him. Choke him out before the lightning got the best of him. He had to do it. For Evynne's sake, he had to do it. "YOU'LL NEVER LAY ANOTHER HAND ON EVYNNE, YOU ANIMAL!!" His throat became raw with unchecked emotion.

Estelle walked right past Mythia like she wasn't even there. In fact, nothing was there to her. Except Valk and Rudd in that center ring. Gerza. Her voice had changed to an almost ethereal quality. The Children on the Cosmos will stop this. And the perpetrator will be punished. Her hands reached out, manipulating her silvery white light. Two strong ribbons of light ripped the two combatants apart, sending them in opposite directions. Rudd was gingerly placed outside of the arena in the care of Ryrax and Cerys. If he felt the mana signature, he would have recognized it as Estelle. yet it wasn't her. This was more powerful. More sinister. More angry. Estelle's ethereal voice floated through down to Rudd. Your part is done. Valk will feel a taste of our wrath and he will learn a lesson he will never forget.

Valk however......What he felt was all of his mana being sucked away at a rate that one could not believe. Plus the fact that the ribbon felt like he was being crushed. He too would recognize Estelle's mana signature.

----

Cerys shook her head at Odom's statement. "I don't even know if the Naejor head can stop those two together. They are the Children of the Cosmos. They are connected to the circle of life. They can destroy everything together without meaning to. And they're angry. Very angry." Cerys was ready to run. ".....we should probably not be here......seriously...."

Rudd fought. He fought hard against the light, and when it put him down, he fought so hard against Ryrax and Cerys that the could barely keep him down together. "COME BACK HERE!!" His skin was black with burns, smoking as he struggled against two pairs of arms. "I'LL KILL HIM!! I'LL FEED HIM TO THE PIGS!!" Tears evaporated against his cheeks as he writhed, stepping slowly closer to the ring.

-----

Odom realized that he could do nothing in this situation. And he was ok with that. This entire display was the best entertainment he'd ever had, short of fighting himself. He leaned back in his seat and, arms behind his head, watched. Between the heated words of men and the restless whispers of energy, he felt that he was listening to a choir. It was terrifying--and it was beautiful.

Then let's. Gerza said, his skin crackling with energy as it slowly began to turn into a flame that covered every inch of his body. His hair began to stand upright and become ambient in it's motion, like a flame. He held out his hand and the sky gradually faded from it's eclipse blue to a vibrant orange, then a bloody red. Find your mercy with the heavens, and pray you find favor in their eyes. He said as the skin seemed to dance and become alive with flames.

Valk grit his teeth as he was thrown back. Air was returning to his lungs, which was a plus, and he felt his pulse normalizing. But--what was happening now was far more worrisome than air or blood flow. He could live for at least a few seconds without those, and let his mana fight for him . . . but now that was disappearing, and rapidly at that. He recognized the signature, just like back at the infirmary ward. He glared to the side of the arena

"You b***. We're not done here."

The lightning was still crackling over his form, but it was significantly lessened.

Ryrax held Rudd down. "Chill out, kid. Let them handle th-" He then saw the sky turn the color of blood. His eye widened slightly, which for Ryrax was close to awestruck and terrified. "That's...not normal."

Mythia made her way into the stands, her lips a stern and thin line in her anger. She walked right up to Rudd and glared into his eyes. "Calm down," she said, her voice thinly laced with psychic influence. In seconds Rudd's anger left him, and he felt a feeling of calm and sleepiness wash over him. Satisfied, Mythia turned on her heel to deal with Gerza and Estelle, but Ryrax stopped her by grabbing her wrist. "Wait," he said, a crazed smile on his face as he stared unblinkingly at the potential apocalypse before him, "this...this I've simply GOT to see."

You won't be returning to this ring for a long time, Valk. Estelle reached one hand to the heavens, towards the stars. They seemed to glow brighter and move closer. You're done. Just before she would let it all go into the final move, as an afterthought, a severed piece of her mana stream broke loose from the ribbon and slammed itself straight into Rudd. As the damage to his body began to be healed at an accelerated rate, her voice came to him again. I am doing what you cannot. I'm taking away his only pride in life. Stop fighting against those trying to help you and let me finish this. Her eyes glanced back at him for a moment before her final words to him. Evynne will wake up in two days. My mana will course through her body and heal her as best as it can. She'll need you to be well enough to take care of her. So, for her sake, stop fighting.

Her attention returned to Valk. She looked over at Gerza. I'll bring the Stars' Fall. Are you ready?

As always. He looked skyward, moving his hands upward in an arc, and high, high, above the Neutral Grounds, a red mass of energy began to form and grow. The flames from his arm and body seemed to race upward into it, feeding it as it continued to grow and increase in brightness. On your mark then. He said as the ball completed it's form, becoming the Red Giant.

Rudd's head was clouded. Voices clashed from within and without, but all he could hear was the barely audible sound of Evynne's shallow breathing. "No . . . I have t' . . ." He felt an exhaustion wash over him, and he sank to his knees, still struggling to move forward. "Have to stop him . . . make him . . . sorry . . ." The last think he heard was Estelle's fading voice as he sank to the ground, and everything became black.
