Futuristic Fog

RandomBlobMan

That was a misclick I swear
I'm not good at this, I wish you understand. Here we go!

Story

The year is 2059, A.D. Humanity is still stuck in Earth, with evolved science, bigger population, chaos, strong acid rain, and a noxious fog. Scientists were able to invent acid proof building materials and fog filters, which was a good news. However, your mission is not to stay in safe buildings. You must roam around, scavenge for supplies, defend your group, and, most importantly, keep them away from the Fog.

Animals

Animals living on land evolved to withstand the acid rain and the Fog. They also became bigger and stronger, making them harder to hunt. People still manage to tame dogs, but rarely, and with a leg or an arm gone. Luckily, these animals are noble to their owners.

Plants

Plants were expected to grow monstrous mouths and start chomping at anything that moves, but they are still peaceful, and, their fruits have thicker skin and nourishing pulps, mostly guarded by poisonous leaves and dangerous spikes.

Humans

Aggressive groups have strong weapons and vicious dogs. There is a single notable group, aka the Dragon Badgers, who possess the strongest weapons. However, there are still friendly groups, helping each other out.

The scientists who invented helpful supplies are known to live in a tower named 'Last Hope', guarded with weapons stronger than even the Dragon Badgers. It is the only place that the Dragon Badgers fear to visit.

Lynne stretched out on her sleeping mat, breathing in the familiar feel of the recycled air. Even the sleep inducing drug most people used nowadays didn't feel as natural or refreshing as the real thing. Take that, Last Hope. Even the common people like us can feel better than you. It was a hollow victory, but Lynne was desperate for something to celebrate. After all, being stuck in one room all day unable to go outside was incredibly, incredibly boring. But it was survival.

Speaking of survival...

Lynne grabbed a candy bar and water bottle from her stack of rations. Hopefully, Jake wouldn't notice one of his Snickers was missing.

Mason entered the building, his gas mask half molten and panting. He was holding a big black sack, which he passed to Vermes. "Fog is right outside, be careful." He said, as he walked towards the tools storage. The storage door made a large creeking noise as it opened. He looked at the mask he has been wearing. It was in a terrible shape. He threw it into a trash bin standing in the corner, and grabbed a replacement. As he looked around, he spotted few empty buckets. They had a word 'PAINT' written on them with a messy handwriting. Mason turned around and left thr storage room, with its door creeking at even the slightest touch. Vermes was standing outside, examining the loot Mason has collected. There was a pocket knife, few canned soups, slug rounds, and a bucket of a black material.

"Paint," said Vermes,"lucky that you found another bucket." He seemed happy that they weren't running short on acid-proof paint. Mason walked straight into his room after patting Vermes on his shoulder.

Lynne shook Jason awake, and held out her hand.

"What do you want? I was sleeping" he said with a scowl.

"The password. Where's the piece of paper with the password to go outside?"

"Oh, that thing. I don't know. Somewhere."

"Duh! Do you at least remember it?"

"3141" he said. "You would've gotten it easily"

Lynne rolled her eyes and left him to go back to sleep. She put the code Jason had told her in the keypad by the supply closet door. All she could find were some old gas masks, some of them only good to be thrown away.

"Why? Why do we never get good quality things?" Lynne shouted to no one in particular. "Why can't we go outside?!"

Mason stopped right in front of his door. He turned around, and walked towards a rusty door. Vermes was busy with the other council members, so he had some personal time, but he decided to explain the situation to some people. He knocked on the door. "You want to know why you aren't supposed to go out? Why things are so bad?" He said. He heard few others mumbling in the other rooms. However, he didn't hesitate. "You should be thankful for things like this. That Last Hope sends supplies every single month, and even that is expensive enough. Also, if you want to know how things are outside, try applying for a scavenger job, Vermes would be happy to hear. Now, I had a hard time hiding from Dragon Badgers and crazy critters, so please stop complaining, this hall has low privacy for everyone. Remember everything including that." Neglecting few people watching him strangely, Mason stormed into his room and closed the door behind him.
