Floating's Temporary Search Thread

FloatingAroundSpace

Three Thousand Club
This is only here for a bit, to get me some RPs until I can make a nicer looking thread...

So a few of my RPs have dropped off so I'm looking for new ones!

My requirments

  • Please have decent spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If I have trouble reading/understanding posts, I tend to drop RPs.
  • Please be able to post within a decent time frame. This varies depending on how busy life gets, but I just don't have the patience or really the temperament for an RP that moves a single post a month. If it's once or twice a week, I'm fine. Hell, even once a week is fine if we have a good thing going.
  • Tell me if you're going to be gone. If you've got finals coming up, tell me. If something IRL has come up, tell me.
  • Plot with me. I find that if I'm just tossing ideas and it feels like I'm getting nothing back, I'll probably drop.
  • Move the plot forward every post. I don't care about length; if things move forward with a sentence or two, then I'll be fine.
  • Please be comfortable with characters all over the LGBT+ spectrum. Most of my characters are somewhere on there and I'd like if you respected that.
  • Be open to trying new things and playing multiple characters. Characters don't live in a vacuum (unless it's an apocalypse, in which case I'll understand).

Plot ideas

Post here and ping me if you want something more in-depth.

  • Modern Harry Potter: The Second Wizarding War has sewn discourse into the lives of many half-bloods and muggleborns. They want to expose the wizarding world to muggles so that they can be more aware of what is happening beneath the surface and so someone like Voldemort can never rise to power like that again. An entire world looking out for a single person makes it a bit more difficult to hide. Many dark wizards have taken up the idea of allowing wizards to roam free by killing off muggles and many serial killers have cropped up as a result, murdering muggleborns and muggles as well as the parents of muggleborns and staging them so they look like accidents. In the midst of all of this, the Ministry is suddenly faced with overwhelming pressure to expose the wizarding world to everyone and other nations are also trying to figure out the best route for this.

  • Modern Arranged Marriage:The heir of a Fortune 500 company is notorious for being someone who sleeps around and parties and takes no responsibility and a lot of employees are angry that this guy is going to be the one in charge of the company. In order to make them shape up, the CEO asks one of her friends if they have a child they'd be willing to marry off. She produces her child that is making her way through whatever industry with a tough but level head, whether it be as a lawyer, a sort of agent, or the like.
    Needless to say, the two clash.

  • Forbidden Soulmates:Supernatural beings (demi-gods, vampires, werewolves, etc.) and humans were not supposed to be soulmates and when they were, it was generally considered the supernatural beings' job to break it off as humans were considered weak.
    Most of humanity is unaware of the presence of supernatural creatures, hence why it is often the supernatural that breaks off the relationship before it starts. However, a few humans are fully aware of the existence of these creatures and make up an illegal underground network of enforcers that help keep the divide between humans and the supernatural. Most of them crack down on creatures that have crossed the line and dispose of them. Most don't quite like their job.
    Character A is human. Character B, her soulmate, is not. Her sister, Character C, is one of the secret hunters that lies in wait, keeping the line drawn between humans and beings. When Character B, against all expectations, doesn't break off their tied lives, Character A is thrust into the world of the supernatural.

  • Vanguard: This one is a bit different. Vanguard is the name of a massive kingdom that was spawned from an RP I was once part of. I have taken it up and expanded on it much more since the RP ended, expanding on traditions, gods, and the like. Many plots can be derived from Vanguard, though the amount of information about it is enormous and I can't post all of it here or this already long post will stretch on to infinity.
    A few plots about it can be:
    Arranged Marriage: Two children of opposing kingdoms are engaged to be married to one another for the good of the land. At first, the despise each other. As time goes on, however, they come to enjoy each other's company and even begin to love one another. But before the marriage can take place, a war breaks out and the new couple is torn apart before their lives can begin.
  • Legend has it that the gods descend to the earth to walk among human beings once in a millennium. They say that the gods come to guide the family to glory and the city that they live in to fame. They say that those that work as the vessel of the gods do not know they are the vessels until a sign comes for them.
  • Magic is rooted in the elements and natural forces. For example, some people are able to manipulate fire and water while others are able to absorb and expel kinetic energy. Magic is common within Vanguard and many schools have been set up to allow people to be educated about their various powers and learn how to curb them and use them properly.
    However, Vanguard is alone in this practice as witchcraft is largely banned around the rest of the kingdoms that surround it. As a result, many people seek refuge inside Vanguard in order to avoid prosecution. The kingdom has opened its arms to allow all that wish to learn to enter it. One of the most famous institutes is the Ulimen Institute. Even the royal family occasionally sends out their children to be taught there. The school is full of history and rich with secrets and people from all walks of life.

General genres I like:

  • High fantasy (Supernatural creatures, magic)
  • Modern-era conflict
  • World-building

If you survived reading all that, congratulations! If you have some plot in mind, do tell me and I'm sure we can come up with something.

Detailed as in multi-paragraphed every post?

I can certainty do that if you would prefer so. I'm fairly flexible when it comes to post length, usually mirroring my partner and depending on the muse for the day. There will be a lot of planning involved, however.

2-7 paragraphs. Maybe more/less. Honestly, even if it's 1 paragraph that's fine.

I'm looking for it to have good thought, characterisation, as well as having something substantial that keeps the plot moving.

I can do planning. Planning is great.

I had an idea for a type of post-apocalyptic plot, but i'm still tryna flesh it out. pm me and we can discuss it?

@WakeUpCrono

Oh yes, I saw it and then forgot to reply.

I'm afraid I'm not too interested in post-apocalyptic as I thought, as I attempted to start up one and fell out of love with it really fast and don't want to do that to someone else. Sorry!

Heyyy, so I'm super fond of fantasy worlds and Vanguard looks fairly good, but for plots I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing one of a few things

Maybe the magic schools perhaps the schools only teach a more "classical"/"traditional" style of magic and maybe we could play a couple of people who can't work their magic the "right" and have to dropout and figure their magic on their own, maybe extending to them having trouble finding good magic work without official degrees.

Or maybe a plot dealing with a forbidden love thing with Character A being a member of a temple (maybe, we can definitely work out things that wouldn't fit Vanguard) and doing charity work with Charater B, who's homeless and A falls for B but has sworn off romantic relations for their godly service and just following the conflicts and feelings surrounding that

But I do like the idea you had with the arranged marriage with the war, or if there's anything else you'd like to due involving non-soldiers during times of war, but if you want to do something else in the world I'd be willing to try it

Hi c: I'm interested in the Modern Arranged Marriage or any of your Vanguard plots sound intriguing. (Out of those I'm drawn to the magic one since I have a character that could fit in well for that.)

@coffeenkittees

Hello there! I'm willing to work out something pertaining to the Arranged Marriage RP or perhaps the magical dropouts AU. PM me with some more ideas, and I'll send you the Vanguard information!

@Inkstone

Hello! PM me with your magical character and I'll throw at you the Vanguard information and we can sort something out from there.

Unfortunately, I am incredibly new and still need to prove I am, in fact, not a robot, so it might be a bit before I get all of the posts I need to get to be able to pm you, so just a heads up on that

I wouldn't mind doing forbidden soulmates or the arranged marriage plot within vanguard with you :) I'm most comfortable with fxf but mxf is fine too, never done mxm before but wouldn't mind. I do play multiple characters and am really into character development, that being said, crazy things can happen i.e. plot twists, love triangles, etc. Let me know what you think!
