The sounds of a circus emanate from all around you. Laughter, music, and the murmur of a crowd bombard your senses. Yet, something feels off. Before you can think on the feeling, a strange man approaches you. His pale-white face is perfectly accented by his purple make-up and hair. His black suit, pants, and top hat cover a purple shirt and trim. He speaks, his voice perfectly matching his clown-like appearance.

Story


.....You don't consider yourself anything special. You're just an average Joe trying to make the most out of life. That's why it surprises you when the package comes. The doorbell rings, and you open the door to find a small box, covered with a note reading "Congratulations! You've been chosen! Put this in any door when the Sun goes down and turn it. Welcome to Flipside."


.....Flipside? You don't remember signing up for any contest. Especially not something with such a peculiar name. Regardless, you open the box and find a small golden key, adorned with swirls and an F at the head. Curious, you wait for sundown to try the key as the note said. Once night had fallen, you put the key into your front door, and turned it. What happened next was something you never could have expected.


What is Flipside?


Flipside is a unique dual-role RP. It is focused on the mysterious world of Flipside and its odd inhabitants. Once your character enters Flipside, they will encounter their own "flipside". A flipside (non-capitalized in this case) is another personality that enters the mind of your character within Flipside. This personality brings with it numerous powers to aid your character in their fights. However, one must take care not to let their flipside take full control, lest your own personality be lost forever. Your new personality will constantly be speaking in flipside. It will act as a voice in your head, granting you advice on the new world around you and giving you various powers to control. If you so wish, you can allow your flipside to take control of your character's body, granting you greater power but causing your new personality to take complete control until you regain it. The reason this is such a huge risk is because the flipsides aren't exactly sane. Whether or not you allow your flipside to take control is up to you, but know that you make not survive without it.


There is a hidden value in the Flipside roleplay called the Sanity Threshold. This value is never represented in the RP, but is simply a way of keeping track of how much control your character has over their own mind and body vs control of the Flipside itself. As points decrease further into the negative, the flipside persona will retain more control, and as they go into the positive, the original character will have more control. Actions in the RP might increase or decrease this value, respectively, as well as the expenditure of Flipside points.


There is only one rule in the world of Flipside, "Everybody fights." And, true to its one rule, Flipside holds nightly battles in its gigantic, circus-like arena. Battles will always consist of at least one player character, though it may at times be PvP. Fights are most often decided through popular vote, each player can vote on who they wish to see win the fights. However, match ups are determined by rank. A person may never battle somebody legally in Flipside if their rank is not within three ranks of the opponent. As a character wins battles, their rank will increase, regardless of whether or not they actually become stronger.


When the fight has finished, the winner is free to challenge or be challenged by anyone in Flipside at the time. This can be a blessing or a curse, because while victors can further increase their rank and win exponentially more points for winning subsequent battles, fatigue and damage sustained during fights is constant. For example, if you break your arm in a fight and are challenged to another, you must fight with the broken arm. Injuries do not persist when you return to the real world, but exhaustion and fatigue will.


The back of your Flipside key will depict a number. This number represents your Flipside points. Points will automatically adjust and increase as you gain them from victories in the Flipside arena and decrease as you spend them in a Flipside shop. Spending these points can grant you increased skills and flipside abilities, but caution is needed, because bonuses bought with Flipside points often come with penalties, often increasing or decreasing your character's Sanity Threshold.

Just to clarify, So it mostly just the opposite of your personality like how if you're kind, you're flipped to mean or if you're mean, you're flipped to being kind but one catch, you're mostly not sane when flipped am I right?
