First Ever Roleplay!

oh gosh, mine was back when i was like eight years old on neopets. i was like "hey let's join a roleplay" and i ended up in this warriors roleplay about some cats who got some visions from starclan (they must have ate too much of the green stuff in the garbage) and set off into the forest to start a clan. i played fearstripe, a male calico who had a thing for the medicine cat, which is, of course, a forbidden romance sort of situation if you've ever read warriors. he messed up his leg fighting some big bad cat guy and some of my other cat characters were making wheelchairs and stuff? dear gods, it was awful LOL. i am forever grateful to those wonderful roleplayers who had to put up with me. i have no idea what happened to them all after the roleplay ended, but it was very fun while it lasted!

Hmmm my first one was years ago when I was little! Looking back, it was truly terrible and I remember being so nervous about posting. It was on the chronicles of ancient darkness website and I had to wait 5 full days and get at least 10 posts before I could even get access to the 'Deep forest' aka the rp section (Something the website used to stop the rps being spammed).

The actual rp was a simple thing about a group of people, three in total, accompanied by wolves. I think the whole thing lasted maybe 10 pages in which I can remember managing to write a whole single line of text per post! I was so proud xD . Nothing happened..bar a forest fire and a love at first site situation which was the norm those days and a quest for revenge (I cringe just thinking about it, whilst giggling though).

However, despite my first attempt being laughable, I loved it and was hooked, never stopped writing since bar the occasional break when school life and uni took over. Slowly the posts grew from one liners to full pages worth of plot twisters and boring description and although my writing style hasn't really improved, I've been lucky enough to be part of some amazing ideas and stories since. :)

My first role play (that didn't die early on anyway) was a simple- level rp on another forum named Camp Clover Cove. It was about a summer camp for supernaturals, y'know shapeshifters, witches, vampires, that generic kind of stuff. It revolved around a government agency called P.A.S.S. (Protection Agency for Supernatural Species) that ran the camp, as well as of course the lives of the campers themselves, which my character was one of. He was a shapeshifter that found out his powers by accident and was rather ashamed of them, but still loved being in animal form. He ended up meting Jasmine, a 16 year old werewolf that had run away from her pack nearby, and he ended up protecting her from her jerk of a mate she was forced to stay with, and they fell in love.

I ended up being very fond of it, and met some awesome rpers in the process. I still think back on it sometimes, especially the fond memories I have of the very heartwarming romance my character and Jasmine ended up sharing. The girl that played her ended up doing a 1x1 with me after the rp died, that was an after story just about our characters. Needless to say that rp made me realize that roleplaying is the perfect hobby for me.

My first ever rp was a play-by-post, but it was way before I knew such a thing existed on the internet. I was twelve and there was a group of girls one grade higher than me. They kept a notebook that they would take turns taking home so they could all write a story based on Sailor Moon together. Each of them adopted one of the Sailor Scouts and wrote from their perspective. To this day I still haven't seen a full episode of the show.

I don't even remember how I found out about it, but I had a crush on one of the girls. So, I asked if I could take the notebook home and write from the perspective of an original male character I came up with. Looking back it was a little cringe worthy in concept - and, oh my God not having spell check made it look like a train wreck - but, it was a lot of fun. I didn't do anything roleplay related for almost ten years after that.

Girls: the gateway to everything you thought you'd never try. ;)

I don't want to talk about it...those were dark days...learning the basics of roleplaying...

So fuck it, here's a link to my first ever roleplay.

My very first ever roleplay was...

My cousins needed a 5th member for their D&D campaign with their college friends and my mother happened to need someone to babysit me. I was 8 years old at the time. I don't recall what I RPed with, but my excessive willingness to fight dragons was apparently hilarious. "You're level 5 you dunce!" became an inside joke between my cousins and I was teased with it until I hit 14 of age... then it resurfaced when I got older and started drinking with them, becoming the reigns to my otherwise "guns blazing" behavior.

My first online RP was...

On another community, which will be left unnamed, my first ever RP was "Luster Academy for the Gifted" (It's dead now, so I think I can safely namedrop it) which basically amounted to "Charles Xavier's school from X-men" meets "Dragon Ball Z".

It was a lot of fun, back when I was 12 of age and finally allowed to get on the computer without adult supervision, and it went on for a solid 4 years. We all suffered from "special snowflake syndrome" and were guilty of a lot of noobie behavior, but since nobody was there to take the reigns, nobody seemed to complain and we had a lot of fun. My character was an amnesiac former "god of destruction" that was gradually remembering his past. So rather than become stronger through training, he did so via flashbacks. Losing control at one point, he briefly became the antagonist of the RP before evolving into a "Vegeta" to the GM's "Goku", always one step behind, but making up for his lack of raw power with pragmatism.

...of course, the RP had a lot of flaws. Aside from constantly breaking basic RP etiquette via things like auto-hitting, we suffered from "excessive transformation problems". My character alone had 9 different forms and that was considered the norm.

We also had the "excessive time skip problem" where every six months we'd jump forward a year or so. By the end of it, I was the "Arcane Technology" teacher of the academy and the GM's character had taken the place of the headmaster.

Still, in spite of all that, as far as "newbs being newbs" went, we had a ton of fun, and wiser members occasionally jumped in (since no character profile was required) and taught us how to RP properly. I probably learned more over that RP in terms of good RPing and story-telling than I ever did before or after it.

Sometimes I wish we could go back and redo that RP with the knowledge we have today, but I'm not sure it would really work.

EDIT BY WAY OF DOUBLE POST:

Also I totally lost track of the other members, so there's that. It HAS been 6 years.
