Fire Emblem: Rebirth. - Two thousand years since the Victory of Prince Chrom, a new terror arises.

HISTORY-
"Long ago, the Halidom of Ylisse came under fire by Plegia, a rival kingdom hellbent on the destruction of Ylisse. There were many losses, but soon Ylisse was able to band with Regna Ferox strike back, giving the Plegian king the war he wanted. The Ylissean military known as the Shepherds, led by Prince Chrom, won the war and a short age of prosperity was the outcome.

That is until the continent known as Valm, conquered by General Walhart, began to invade Ylisse, prompting the...

Since the dawn of time, there were to be rulers... Heroes... And even villains. Thousands of years have passed since the time of the Hero-King, Marth, and only two thousand since the former Exalt, Chrom. However, this is not their tale to be told. This is the tale of a new hero and his army, a descendant of the two blue-haired heroes of the days of old.

The morning was as radiant as ever in Ylisse's capitol, Ylisstol. In his quarters, Prince Lautre of Ylisse awoke gently from a refreshing slumber and dressed himself in the day's uniform, a blue tunic set stylized after that of the Hero-King's own clothes. After dressing, Lautre equipped himself with the Ylissean royal sword, Falchion. Falchion was a special blade, as passed down from Marth to Chrom and now Lautre. The Prince then made his way down to the Palace exit and left to the Shepard's headquarters not too far from the Palace.

"Those who chose to remain through the night, would you kindly wake up?" Lautre called out as he opened the door to the cavernous room, mostly to the asleep Ellit currently passed out at a table next to bottles of wine. "In case you did not hear me, I said... Awake!" He called again, tossing a tome at the drunken Mage.

"G-huh? Wha..? Ah, Captain Lautre! It's a, uh, pleasure to see you... Awake." The Plegian mage croaked as he was forcefully awoken. "Didn't expect 'ya to come here so early to catch me, uh... Studyin' magic!" Ellit scrambled to pull a Fire tome close and crack it open.

"I couldn't help having to check on my loyal mage... Studying safely." Lautre muttered, staring at the empty bottles of alcohol on the wooden table. "I couldn't imagine what I'd have to do to such a great asset if I caught him... Drinking..?" The scare tactic had always worked on Ellit for two reasons. One, Ellit is one of the worst about preservation of self. Two, Lautre has the power to make such a harsh punishment a reality.

"Now, anybody else, do come out!"

Louise: (I think I will add Lucian in a battle encounter, or soon.)

Louise slowly crept up from behind Lautre and stood with a solemn stance. "Bright and early I see my lord. I hope you do find that your sword has been cleansed of any dirt or blood stains. I have been up since the crack of dawn cleaning it, as well as your clothes." Louise analysed the drunken Mage in the room, staring at him with a condescending glare. "I see you have been making yourself useful with those bottles of wine, Ellit," Louise said in a sarcastic tone. "Please do use your time wisely, drinking is only hurting the groups well being." She quickly moved her eyes away from the vermin, blinking a couple of times to remove him out of her brain.

Louise looked back up to Lautre with a serious face, like she almost always had on. "Where does my Lord want to go today, I will go anywhere you please, and you cannot order me not to." Louise's face lightened up and she put her hands behind her back, trying to look more professional.

Lautre turned to face his faithful companion. "Many thanks, Louise. In these times, I often find myself lost without you." said the Prince in his most honest tone as he pulled Falchion from it's sheath. The blade was cleaner than the palace floors and shone like the radiant sun itself. "Amazing handiwork as always, Louise." He complimented as he placed the sword in it's casing one more. "I would like to pay a visit to the local villages. To show them that they have nothing to fear, for the Shepherds are on guard!" The youth spoke heroically. "However, I require companions should there be trouble. As such, I would gladly enjoy your company as my great protector."

Ellit continued to sit at the table and listen in on the Lord's conversation with his Guardian, occasionally taking a swig of wine. The Wyvern Lord's words still stung him a little. "...Be makin' myself useful when I save your behind from a rogue archer one day too.." He muttered a quiet retort, angrily sipping his drink and studying another tome.

"Oh my, dear lord you flatter me with your words. It is an honour that I could be of service to you," Louise bent down and bowed to him. Louise then payed close attention as Lautre explained the mission, ignoring all around her. "Sir I would follow you to hell and back, I would be honoured to accompany you. Although I must prepare for the journey. Do you request I get something for you, maybe a horse, or possibly spare soldiers?"

Louise looked to Ellit, avoiding his eye contact. "Me fall to a simple rogue archer? My dearest Ellit, if I needed help with a couple of archers they wouldn't have appointed me to guard royal blood." Louise walked up to where he was sitting and swiftly grabbed the bottle of wine out of his grasp and held it at her side. "You are a better thinker sober," Louise said as she looked at him with a responsible look.

While other were just waking up, in a, what is now, hovel near the palace tronar was hard at work. The light of the new day shone through the various cracks and opening made by Tronars previous experiments. The light revealed a bare bones room with only bed and two desk, one with an alchemy set and the other with various tomes piled to the ceiling. In between the tomes, Tronar is buried in a tome looking for his next spell to add to his own tome oblivious to the new day arrivals. In an instant he raised his had and got to his feet taking the tome with him.

"Ok, lets try this..."He said raising his hand pointing it to a makeshift stand before mattering an incantation. The words appeared as fire in a circles around him before a fire ball flew and struck the stand nearly obliterating it and damaging the wall behind it. Tronar was unimpressed. "No. No. No! Basic fireball. No good...Maybe..."He went back to his desk taking another tome."Mixing the words with micaiah's pyre. Yes. Yes!"

The resulting spell send tramurs and a bang that could be heard several yards away.

Torman stood in front of a training dummy, breathing deeply. He craned his neck and closed his eyes. He pulled the small stone off his belt and threw his hand into the air in a singular motion, and felt his body get surrounded by a cocoon of light. Opening his eyes, he saw the world in a new light. The blues and greens in the world had become much brighter, and red a different shade all together. A flame began rising in his chest, and he looked down on the dummy, jumping into the air and flapping his wings at the same time. He shot a ball of green fire at the dummy, disintegrating it in an instant.

He rumbled to himself, and began to turn around as his tail and wings folded back into his body while it shrank and the scales sank into his skin, turning him back into his human form. Torman turned around, and saw Lautre speaking to other shepherds. He heard him talking about needing companions for a journey. He approached and bowed.

"I am bound by my life debt to your halidom to protect and serve you and future kings. I will accompany you."

Maia Ivor was startled awake at the sound of Prince Lautre's voice ringing down the corridor. She jolted upwards from where her head rested, realizing slowly that she must have fallen asleep organizing routes for the upcoming mission. Being that she had fallen asleep at her desk, she had her armor next to her ready to go and her longsword at her side. Grabbing last night's scrolls that she had made up and her fire tome, Maia made her way into the halls and followed the sound of the voices until she saw the familiar faces of her comrades.

She tensed at hearing the bang, but her mind supplied quickly that Tronar must have been experimenting again and she pressed onward. Observing those around her, she suspected Ellit was probably sporting a hangover and Louise, the ever loyal guard was ready for duty. She nodded silently in greeting to Torman and made her way forward. "Excuse the interruption, my lord," Maia spoke as she approached Lautre and bowed in formality. "As much as I hate to interrupt this - ah- spirited discussion," she said as her lips quirked upwards ever so slightly as she noted the banter between Louise and Ellit, "I came to inform you that I have drawn up the fastest travel route to the local villages. We can make the rounds to all of them by sundown but should time get away from us, I noted several inns that would be able to take in our convoys for the night," she commented as she held out one of the unrolled scrolls to him.

Takana slowly erupted from her bed letting out a loud moan as she stretched. In a distance she heard Prince Lautre's voice. "Wow I woke up just at the knick of time." She sat up and swung her legs off the bed and quickly got dressed into her armor. "Oh gosh I hope I'm not late!" She sprinted out the door grabbing her weapons behind her.

She ran to the place where Lautre was yelling from. She was reunited with the rest of the members.
"Sorry guys, did I miss anything?" She asked as she rubbed the back of her head. She looked over to Maia seeing that she had drawn a travel route for our missions. She's always helpful... Takana gave a warm smile as she looked at Maia.

Tronar walked out of his hovel in a coughing fit as a cloud of smoke followed him out. He dusted himself off with his mage hat before noticing a few people starring at him.

"Phew...I would leave it to stand for a minute before entering..."He said before turning around to look at his hovel, he speaking to himself."Results: Intense. Test confirmed in confined space ill advised but results still promising. Field trails necessary....Mental note: another uncomfortable discussion with Prince Lautre for a new place to work. Not looking forward to it. Morning already? Prince and comrades awake by now....Best get it out the way quickly. "

He turned and entered the palace looking for the others.

"Thank you, Louise. But I prefer to walk." Said the Prince to his Guardian. One by one, the Lord began to address his companions. "Ever brilliant, Maia. Many thanks for your effort." Lautre congratulated their talented Tactician before turning to Torman and Takana. "Loyal as ever, Torman. I thank you for the offer." He bowed to the Manakete. "Good Morning, Takana. We are touring Ylisse's countryside and we would much appreciate your company."

"Yeah, yeah... You and 'yer royal blood guardianship.. I tell 'ya... Feh.." Ellit drunkenly slurred before falling backwards out of his chair with a loud thud. "...'m okay..."

"Very well my lord. And have a nice day too, Ellit," she said in a tone a mother would use on a delinquent child. Louise slowly left the scene and made her way to her Wyvern's stables. It took her around 15 minutes by foot, but she would usually stop by her house and grab any necessities she needed there. Her house was a small, 1 story, and consisted of a small kitchen, a living room and a bedroom. She opened the door to her bedroom and opened a large chest right next to her bed, where she kept her lance. She put the lance on the sheath which she kept on her back and ran to the kitchen where she grabbed her Wyverns food, horse meat. She left the house and made her away to the stable around a kilometre behind it.

As she came across her stable, a large clanging noise could be heard rattling on the steel gate. Her Wyvern had grown impatient, which was not a hard feat. As Louise came to the doors of the stable the Wyvern jumped at her with the sight of food. Louise smiled and pushed him back by his nose. "Remember Cherche, I only feed you when you when you are calm." Louise said in a playful tone. Her Wyvern quickly calmed down and looked at her with innocent eyes. "Oh, how can I say no to that face." Louise threw the tender horse meat through the space between the gate and the Wyvern gobbled it up in a matter of seconds. Louise giggled at the grotesque way the Wyvern ate its food and she petted it calmly on the nose. "All right Cherche, come out, it is time to play." She opened the gate to the stable and the Wyvern flew out and landed next to Louise. She jumped onto the saddle on its back and the Wyvern shot up like a bullet into the skies.

(also I forget the Wyvern appearance sooo,)

Wyvern.jpg
It's around 7 feet tall, and weighs around 400 pounds. It is also skinnier than the one in the picture.

Usane heard Lautre telling everyone to get up. She made a loud noise halfway between a grunt and a sigh before rolling over and attempting to cover her long ears. After failing, she pushed herself up and changed. She quickly grabbed her pouch containing some herbs and her beaststones and walked over to the others. " Mornin'" She said with a loud yawn.

Maia stepped back as the others began to fill in and nodded in acknowledgment to Lautre's compliment. "Always a pleasure, My Lord," she addressed before stepping back to observe the others. They looked tired but ready to go, as she was, and Maia must say she was excited to go on a journey with the convoy, even if they were just going to outlying villages for something so simple, it was better than simply training in the castle. Maia would sometimes take on jobs as a mercenary like she had in the past for extra work when things were slow instead of staying cooped in. "If I may ask, what time will we be heading out," she inquired towards the prince.

*running to the Shepard's building Nanako hoped she would make it before the prince started his rounds of the farmlands. She sprinted past Louise, catching her out of the corner of her eye. One of the shepard's strongest- Well she'll have to catch up later...

Finally reaching the Shepard's building she slammed open the wooden door...

"Prince! Urgent news from a village south of us! Bandits, a whole lot of them!" *she collapsed to the floor out of exhaustion.

"I'd say we could leave starting in the mo-" Lautre started to say, only to be cut off by Nanako. Bandits? In Ylisse? How could this have happened? Prince Lautre pondered for a moment and prepared his thoughts. "Shepherds, prepare to march south!" The Lord commanded in a harsh tone. "The lot of you will come along. Pack your tomes, your blades, and your bows and prepare to do battle!" Lautre strode out of the door and towards the stables, mentally preparing himself for a fight.

"Here, here!" Shouted the Mage, currently lying on the floor in a drunken mess. "..Jus'... Gimme a minute.." Ellit began to pull himself off the ground and pack his bag full of tomes and wine, all while wondering if Clerics can heal hangovers. Ellit then stumbled over to a horse and climbed atop it, sitting on the sadle backwards.

Torman grabbed his dragonstone off his belt and followed Lautre closely. He had a strange feeling about this. Something wasn't right.

"Sire, I think it might be best for your safety if you stayed here with some of us. Something is off about this attack, I can feel it."

His eyes darted around him as we walked next to the prince. He gripped the dragonstone tight in his palm, ready to transform in a moment's notice.

"I cannot sit idle while my citizens are under attack. Thank you for your concern, Torman. But, I must go along." Lautre said, mounting the steed. "A ruler can either cower in fear, or show his citizens that there is nothing to fear. Such as the path Chrom took... That Marth took.. So shall I take." The Prince drew Falchion from it's sheath and stared at it, noting every scratch and mark of the hilt and blade. "I must follow the actions that made my bloodline the great rulers of this country." Every story and every piece of history that Lautre had seen concerning the two Lords of the past came back to him.

"Finally some excitement!" Usane said holding a beaststone in hand and pacing. "Haven't seen any battles lately... Which I guess is a good thing, but boring."

Maia tensed up, her hand automatically reaching towards her longsword as soon as Nanako arrived, panting and announcing the bandits attacking. As the girl collapsed, Maia immediately strode forward to keep her aloft. "We need a healer!" she spoke as she tried to help the girl. The tactician fidgeted for a moment before being assured that the girl would be taken care of and striding after the Shepards who were getting ready to embark.

Maia did not ride any beasts and since she had fallen asleep at her desk, she already had her armor and tomes with her ready to go. Maia marched forwards and began to analyze the scene before her, rolling her eyes as she spotted the spectacle that was Ellit mounting his horse backwards. The tactician furrowed her brows and pursed her lips before striding towards the man. She grumbled to herself as she reached into his bag, uncaring of the man's privacy and pulled out the wine bottles he had hastily put into his bag and handed him a strength tonic instead. "I think you've had enough alcohol for now," she lectured, as she hit the horse's behind making it buck upwards in reaction. "Get it together, Ellit," she spoke before approaching Prince Lautre and Torman. The Manakete had a point about Lautre staying behind. Bandits typically didn't attack so near to Ylisstol, they typically stayed towards the borders of Regna Ferox and Plegia where the kingdom's influence was not as strong and it took longer for supplies and troops to arrive, but she had to admit she respected Lautre's insistence to be at the front lines.

"If I may suggest, Sire," she began, her mind working through familiar strategies in order to adjust to the situation. "Instead of taking the normal convoy routes, I suggest we take the merchant route along the river. We should be less likely to be ambushed and the river and trees will hide us from the enemy's beasts and wyverns," she commented. "It's also faster since the routes carve straight through the forests instead of going around," she added as an afterthought, the scrolls in her hand being bunched up and shoved into her pack. They were useless now considering their change of circumstances. The only cost is that the route is more physically demanding due to terrain however seeing as this situation is so urgent, time is of the essence.

After five short minutes Louise finally came across headquarters. She signalled the Wyvern to land and it began to descend to the ground. Landing was a challenge with a Wyvern, their heavy weight and large feet made a loud noise that shook the ground like an earthquake if you weren't careful. As she was she got to around 5 metres off the ground she pulled up slightly and began flying mid air. She then slowly came to the ground making little noise. She got off the Wyvern and made her way to the doors to let Lautre know she was prepared.

"Yes, if Prince Lautre demands to go, that would be safest. Though, it might be safer for those who can fly to go ahead and search for ambushes. They might be expecting us to take the merchant route if this is a trap." Torman nodded to Maia as she approached and spoke.

"Of course, that would be up to the Prince, if he wants anyone who can fly close, in case they have archers."

Maia leaned against the walls as she watched more Shepards coming in, ready for their next battle. She nodded along as Torman spoke and crossed her arms against her chest, the lapels of her coat crinkling slightly as she did so. Torman had a point, the tactician agreed. If they were ambushed in the forests at least, they would still have the advantage of terrain and evasiveness which is why Maia was still keen on taking that route despite the possibility of an ambush. But an ambush was precisely what they were trying to avoid. "What if we send out Wyvern riders and Pegasus knights to scout over the air," she repeated what he had suggested, "but what if the route we send them scouting is from the direction of the convoy route instead of the forests? Any bandits who spot them will suspect that the rest of our convoy won't be far behind on the obvious route and we still get the benefit of scouting out where the enemy is," she suggested, trying to figure out the best way to go about the situation and unsure if the plan was even plausible or if it truly made sense. As skilled a tactician as Maia was, the inner workings of her mind and strategies were sometimes hard to convey which is why she typically resorted to making scrolls, charts and maps of her plans instead, but they hadn't the time with the bandits' little surprise appearance so suddenly. But discussing them like this helped, Torman was able to suggest ideas that she had yet to consider and offer an extra perspective of which she was grateful.

Sending scouts by air was a good idea, and Maia thought that sending them on a specific track to mislead the bandits could only help them. After all, even if the bandits were unfooled by their misdirection and suspected the Shepards of taking the merchant route along the river and forest, they wouldn't risk it by sending all their men through the merchant route, they would be forced to divide their troops nearly in half to cover both possible routes - the convoy and the forests- if they wanted even the hope of a successful ambush, and while it wasn't much, it would certainly be easier to fight off half of an army in a terrain area than an entire league of bandits on a flat travel route. The forest would provide a good cover and the elevation would allow them to spot the enemy before they could spot them, lessening the chance of an ambush. "It is up to you, however," Maia spoke, turning to Prince Lautre once more, "Whatever you think is best, Sire. We will follow you."

*rising up and finally regaining the ability to speak Nanako spoke*

Prince, if I may make a suggestion? Maia's plan seems like the best

choice to me. Our scouts have told me that the enemy holds no airborne mounts and if we do end up fighting in the forests it will
only be of our advantage against archers... Maia's plans are almost always sound, even when all of the details are not available to her my Lord, although I know you already know this.

Now where did Maia put that alcohol I saw, Nanako thought to her self, walking towards their sloth of a mage...

Lautre contemplated the options laid before him. "Send out the scouts. Shepherds, we ride the Merchant path. We will follow Maia's plan to the letter!" He shouted, raising Falchion high into the air. "Forward, march!" The Prince began to ride forward to the Merchant's Path, waiting for his companions to follow. After the discovery of this, Lautre was nowere near the realm of calm. Even though he had never met the rogues personally, a pure hatred for them filled his mind with only a small, lingering hope that noone had been injured... or even worse, dead.
