Yume

Speed dating really was a cruel game, sometimes. She'd scarcely had time to even shout goodbye to her prior date across the room, before they were both whisked away again...

Every mirage was picturesque, but some more agreeable to their participants than others. A steamy spring, neatly outlined with natural-looking rocks and gemstones. The gems gave the water a mysterious emerald color, which sparkled as if the water itself was made of crystal. "Mid," is the word Yume would use, and therefore did, as her brain-to-mouth filter was quite lacking. Lucky for her, most people around here spoke common, and not internet lingo.

Kneeling down, Yume dipped a hand into the water, feeling the soothing warmth. "Mm, maybe this could be kinda nice, actually..." she murmured to herself. Kinda depended on how comfortable she'd be wearing nothing but a towel in front of her date. Speaking of, where was her date?

Standing back up, Yume finally turned away from the spring, looking for her date. It didn't take long, since they'd arrived pretty close together. Well, it was hard to imagine anyone she'd feel less awkward to be naked around. On the flip side, Yume didn't look especially happy to see the plant lady, her eyes narrowing into a tired, unamused glance that was aimed more at the world than the lady herself.

"I see Mr. Mirage has a healthy sense of irony," she sighed, mind lingering on the fact that she's just asked her last date to destroy a tree on her behalf. Probably not the best thing to bring up to this druid woman, unless she was looking to earn herself some sorta nature curse. "Hm... do you think if I took off my clothes, they'd jump back onto me when we're done? It wouldn't matter much, since no one would remember, but I don't wanna lose this dress..." she shrugged, running a hand over the soft fabric.

"Oh right, I'm Yume. Nice to meet'cha, Planty."

The next date came as quickly as the last.

A quiet hot spring instead of a noisy festival. Demeter liked this place better, already. Much better than her partner for this round, it seemed. She liked her partner's attitude a little better as well. She walked up to the edge of water, sat down, then dipped her feet in as she listened to Yume grumble. It wasn't until the white-haired fae introduced herself that the dryad looked up from the steaming waters and met eyes with her. First, with a furrowed brow.

Then, with a smile and a light chuckle.

"Yeah, I know," without a moment's hesitation, Demeter grabbed the petals she wore and tore them asunder; casting them aside and bearing it all for the world to see, "We met once before, remember?"

Only the God's know what might've gone through Yume's head in that abrupt moment after the dryad disrobed herself. But, quite frankly, if she had any expectations at all, she would've been disappointed. There was no "look" or gesture for Yume to come closer. No sensual or provocative pose. No blush nor body language to suggest an ounce of shame or inappropriate thought. Gazing upon Demeter in that moment was less like gazing upon a girl who'd been stripped bare and exposed...

...and more a woodland creature enjoying a moment of free breath after tearing away the leash that it had been forced to wear for some time.

Slowly she eased herself into the waters; putting in as little effort to conceal herself within them as she had been sitting at the edge of their edge. But the waters and the steam would act as a mild veil all the same.

"The water-gun fight on the beach. We teamed up on that one guy and started like an entire war around a single umbrella, hahaha. That... that one got boring pretty quick though, didn't it?" she paused and brought a hand to her chin in thought, "I think this is like the third or second... time I've been to one of these. Right? Yeah-yeah, nah. This is like the third time that the Gods have kidnapped me for one of these things. How many times have they picked you so far? I'm starting to wonder if they like bringing the same people over and over."

She shrugged and leaned back against the edge of the pool.

"Don't really know what to tell you about the clothes, though," she began, finally getting to Yume's concerns, "But I know the springs feels better without em."

Yume’s eyes softened once Planty began to speak, particularly at that word remember. "Well, that’s surprising," she admitted, almost turning away once the clothing was so brazenly cast aside. Not even an ounce of hesitation! Druids.

"I wonder if it’s the magic of this place, or if you just have a very firm mind…" Yume pondered, sheepishly glancing around before she began to undo her dress. It wasn’t Planty she was worried about, so much as the possibility of Mr. Mirage peeking in from a hidden camera or something. Thankfully, it looked as though some soft towels were provided, and with some careful shuffling around, she was able to stay somewhat covered.

"[It does feel pretty firm in here…]" Yume’s voice echoed in Planty’s head as Yume helped herself inside like that friend who always slammed open the door without knocking. "[Most people completely forget me after about a minute or two. You even got all the details correct!]"

Fastening the towel, Yume lowered herself into the water with a deep sigh of relaxation. Okay, sure, this wasn’t bad at all. She went back to speaking aloud, "Oh, I don’t know, I’ve lost count. One of these days, I’m definitely going to figure out how they’re doing this… for… important purposes~" Still wasn’t sure if he was listening in or not.

"You’re right, this does feel nice. Although, if you’re a plant, doesn’t this mean you’re technically drinking my bath water~" Yume teased with a smirk. It was short-lived, genuine curiosity taking its place. "What are you, anyway? Green is a pretty unusual color, and as earthy as you look, I’d expect an ogress to be… thicker, I guess."

Demeter tapped the side of her head with an index finger as a confident grin spread across her lips.

"Strong min-uwoah..."

She reeled back a bit as Yume's voice started coming from within her own head. The dryad put a hand up and pulled away from Yume as though that was somehow supposed to stop the psychic waves. When the voices finally came to an end, she simply shook her head, splashing some water over her face as though she were trying to wake up or fight off a migrane.

"Nope. Don't like that..."

She took another second to shake off the telepathy, turning her attention back to Yume once she started talking about bathwater.

"It's more like our bathwater at this point," she began, "I'm not an ogre! They uh... well, some people like to call me an exhibitionist, sometimes. Not really sure what that means, to be honest. But I'm a dryad! Cuz I got weeds for hair and I'm pretty good at magic. See."

Demeter gently raised her hand and a large portion of the hotspring waters vanished before Yume's eyes; leaving open a space for the waters around them to converge into a wave that splashed water all over both of them. But then, if Yume looked up, she'd find all that missing water hurtling downwards onto her head; a much, much larger splash of water that time around, though more focused on Yume's position.

Once she finally got all the water out of her ears, she'd begin to hear Demeter snickering on her side of the springs. As far as she was concerned they were not even for the voices in her head.

"So, what are you, then? And how are you doing that thing? The- the creepy voices in my head?"

"I’m pretty sure exhibitionist isn’t a race… I don’t think druid is either…" Yume shrugged.

As the top half of the bath was suddenly shaved clean off, Yume blinked a few times in surprise. It sent a shiver down her spine, suddenly having her upper torso exposed to the cool air. Not that she’d have to wait long to get the water back…

"Whrbbglgll!" several incoherent gargling noises came from Yume’s throat as she saw herself suddenly smacked with a flood of spring water. The pressure even pushed her down to the base of the spring for a few seconds, before she managed to resurface. "Where was that when we were fighting umbrella guy!?" was her chosen angle of complaint.

After a long sigh, Yume quickly calmed back down and answered Demeter’s question. "Honestly, I don’t really know. All I can say is that I’m ‘some sort of fae.’" She raised an eyebrow. "Creepy…?"

She prepared herself by taking a deep breath, and then began alternating words out loud and via telepathy, "It’s [ just ] like [ talking ] out [ loud ], only [ I ] send [ the ] words [ right ] into [ your ] mind!" Yume looked a bit proud of what she’d just accomplished. However, on closer inspection, the whole process had made her dizzy, and she was swaying back and forth like a drunkard.

"Uurrrhhh… let’s not do that again…" Yume thought about it a moment, before answering the other part of the question. "I can just sorta… feel people’s minds, and poke around in them if I need to. Say you forget something important, I can help look for the memory. Or if you’d like a brand new, custom-order memory, I can do that too. That’s usually when people start calling it creepy."
