One moment, you were going about your day—perhaps reading, training, scheming, or simply minding your own business—and the next, the ground beneath you ceased to exist. There was no warning, no transition. Just a sudden pull—as if the fabric of reality itself had reached out, plucked you from your place in the world, and deposited you somewhere else.

A grand chamber stretches around you, impossibly vast yet intimate. The air is warm, humming with an enchanting energy that prickles at the skin. Floating lanterns, glowing in soft pinks, deep crimsons, and warm golds, drift lazily above, casting dancing patterns of light across plush, velvet seating. The very air carries the scent of roses, sugar-dusted pastries, and something distinctly magical.

You are not alone.

Others stand beside you, some startled, some wary, some already bracing for whatever nonsense this may be. And then—

BOOM! A shower of glittering confetti erupts overhead—somehow completely harmless despite its dramatic explosion. A figure appears at the heart of the stage, clad in embroidered finery that shimmers between deep reds and gold, a magician’s flair woven into every movement. They grin, eyes twinkling with mischief, before spreading their arms wide as if to embrace the whole room.

"Welcome, welcome, one and all! You lucky souls have been selected—nay, summoned—to participate in tonight’s most illustrious of social experiments! A grand test of fate, a delightful game of destiny, and perhaps… just perhaps… a brush with romance? But fear not! This isn't all about love-love. No, no, no! This is about every form of connection—be it camaraderie, rivalry, devotion, admiration, mischief, or something entirely unexpected. The world has many names for it, after all! nine, if we're keeping count. But tonight, let's see which kind sparks for you!" They put their hands behind their back as they walk among the crowd of confused participants. "Tonight you will be randomly paired with one of your fellow contestants and whisked away into one of our renowned Magical Mirage Rooms, where you’ll spend an hour together—getting to know one another, sharing a laugh, or perhaps something deeper. And don’t worry, the rooms are equipped with the Duchy’s finest magitech to ensure a memorable experience!”

The host spins on their heel, waving a hand as though to pluck lights from the air. “Once you enter the Mirage Rooms, you and your partner will have the opportunity to choose from four different scenes—each crafted to set the perfect mood for whatever kind of connection fate has in store for you."

They snap their fingers, and in a burst of golden light, glowing letters materialize in midair—swirling and shifting like constellations. "These are the first pairings for round one!"





The letters glow brightly, and before any protest can be made, ribbons of shimmering energy curl around each pair, swirling like enchanted silk before—

The world shifts.

A rush of warmth, a pull of magic, a brief sensation of weightlessness—

And then, each pair is no longer in the grand chamber.

“And now, my dear participants, your time begins! Make the most of your hour, and when the clock strikes, the magic will whisk you away once more. Remember, this night belongs to fate, and fate is always full of surprises!”

With that final declaration, the magic settles. The Mirage Rooms come to life, each as real as any dream that has ever lingered past waking. For the next hour, time belongs to the participants alone.
And in an hour… the pairings will shift once more.

The Four Magical Mirage Room Experiences! ​

Moonlit Forest Retreat
A secluded glade beneath a breathtaking night sky. Fireflies drift lazily between ancient trees, their glow reflecting in the soft waters of a nearby brook. A crackling campfire offers warmth, its flickering embers illuminating a simple picnic laid out on a checkered cloth. A place for quiet conversation… or the kind of silence that speaks volumes.

Grand Ballroom Enchantment
A ballroom unlike any other, floating in a dreamlike haze. Golden chandeliers hover in midair, casting a soft glow across an endless floor of smooth marble. Phantom musicians play a lilting waltz, inviting movement, while a grand banquet table offers delicacies fit for nobility. Here, one may dance, feast, or simply revel in the enchantment of the moment.

Seaside Sunset Escape
Waves lap gently against a wooden dock as the last rays of sunlight bathe the world in gold and rose. A small rowboat drifts lazily on the water, tethered and waiting. The salty breeze carries the scent of lavender and seafoam. A setting for quiet reflection, soft conversation… or perhaps, a shared adventure into the unknown.

Festival of Lights
A lively festival stretches before you, lanterns casting a warm glow over cobblestone paths. Stalls overflow with sweets and trinkets, laughter ringing through the air as street performers dazzle with tricks and fire-dancing. A scavenger hunt is set in motion—each pair must work together to complete a mysterious list before the final bell tolls.

Okay guys we have our pairings. So now, get together with the person who controls the character yours has been paired with, and make a 1x1 thread. Which you'll title [Feb25 Event _____x_____ ] with the names of the pair for that thread. Then send me the link via message or Discord. Come next week I'll make the next post for Round 2's pairings. The "Magical Mirage Rooms" You can imagine it's like a magical hologram room. Or even like a virtual reality chamber. Your characters will feel and taste and hear like they're actually in the scene that's chosen. You can discuss among you who will open the thread, but there isn't really a "Narrator" here. You'll both be in a room with the scene set. And the main point is to talk/interact with each other.

There will be four rounds total. We will switch up each week. At the end there will be two 7 pt rewards for two of the "Dates" While you may choose one of the date pairings to earn a special title that grants +1 effectiveness when teaming up with that character.

For a moment, everything goes still. The atmosphere of the Mirage Rooms dissolves—the warmth of candlelight, the echo of distant laughter, the scent of sea air—gone. A strange, weightless sensation washes over each participant, as if they are being unmoored from reality itself.

Then—

BOOM!

A burst of golden light erupts from the stage, showering the chamber in shimmering confetti as the participants are unceremoniously dropped back onto the game show platform. The ground beneath their feet solidifies with a heavy pulse of magic, the force rippling outward in waves of energy that hum with arcane precision.

Confusion flickers across faces. Some glance around in mild bewilderment, others blink as they realize their previous partners are now standing far across the stage, separated from them once more. A moment of hushed silence stretches between them, anticipation thick in the air.

And then—

“Oh, you didn’t think you were staying put, did you?"

The host materializes in a twirl of red velvet and gold filigree, stepping forward with a confident smirk. Their finely tailored coat gleams under the magitech lights, and as they spread their arms wide, the energy in the air seems to pulse in response.

"I must say, you all looked rather cozy in those Mirage Rooms. Some of you laughed, some of you brooded, and some of you—" a glimmer of mischief dances in their gaze, "—found yourselves in rather unexpected predicaments. But fate is an unpredictable mistress, and tonight, your journey takes another unexpected turn.”

With a snap of their fingers, the swirling golden letters reappear in midair, just as they had before. But this time, the names shift, swirl, and settle into entirely new pairings.

As the names glow with finality, another ripple of energy sweeps through the chamber. The host clasps their hands together, amusement clear in their expression.

“And just like before, you and your new partner will soon find yourselves whisked away to one of our renowned Mirage Rooms.”

New & Expanded Magical Mirage Room Experiences​

6. Cozy Teahouse Hideaway – A warm and intimate teahouse nestled in a quiet alcove. The scent of freshly brewed herbal tea lingers in the air as soft cushions and low tables invite easy conversation over delicate porcelain cups.

7. Mystical Hot Springs Retreat – Hidden deep within the mountains, these ancient, steaming pools are surrounded by mist and glowing crystal formations. The water’s warmth is matched only by the soothing, enchanted ambiance of the secluded setting.

8. Clockwork Carnival – A fantastical fairground of gears, lights, and old-world charm. Mechanical rides spin lazily under a violet dusk, and the scent of caramel and spice lingers as a mischievous fortune teller beckons visitors to test their fate.

Round Three​

A flicker of light, a shift in reality, and suddenly—the Mirage Rooms are gone.

The scent of blooming flowers, the soft lapping of waves, the lingering warmth of a shared moment—all of it dissipates in an instant. The floor beneath each contestant solidifies, the familiar glow of magitech humming through the air. They are back on the grand stage.

Murmurs ripple through the group as eyes dart around. Some look for their previous partners. Others brace for what’s to come.

A slow, deliberate clap rings out.

“I do hope you’re not getting too comfortable."

The host steps forward, a glimmer of amusement in their expression as they survey the gathered contestants. Their tailored coat shimmers under the ethereal light, the golden embroidery catching each movement like liquid fire.

"Once again, my dear guests, fate demands a reshuffle! Some of you have embraced this little game with open arms. Some of you have danced—perhaps literally—around its edges. And some of you…” they smirk, “seem positively bewildered by the notion that we are, indeed, doing this again.”

Golden letters spiral into existence, swirling above the stage as names shift and rearrange.

Golden ribbons of energy flicker to life, swirling between the new pairs before fading into soft embers.

“And now, as always, the Mirage Rooms await.”

“You have one hour,” the host announces with a knowing grin. “One hour to explore, to uncover, to discover. Some of you may leave your mark on the evening. Some of you may find the evening leaving a mark on you.”

A shimmer of golden light. A final rush of air. And just like that—

The stage is empty.

The Mirage Rooms unfold once more.

The illusion unravels one last time.

The air shimmers, reality bending at the edges as the Mirage Rooms dissolve like ink washing from a canvas. For the final time, the contestants feel themselves pulled—weightless, untethered—before the familiar warmth of magitech energy anchors them once more.

They are back on the stage.

This time, the golden glow that greets them is brighter than before, the energy of the chamber alive with something almost electric.

A hush falls over the room, before the Hosts voice breaks it with a solid vibrato.

“Oh, my dear, dear guests… you’ve made it.”

The host steps forward, their silhouette framed against the glittering backdrop of golden light. Their smile is as radiant as the moment itself, eyes gleaming with something unreadable—anticipation, delight, or perhaps a secret only they are privy to.

“Four rounds. Dozens of conversations. Countless fleeting moments of fate. Some of you have embraced this little game with grace. Some of you have been… surprised by what you’ve found. And some of you?” They chuckle, shaking their head. “Still reeling, I imagine.”

A snap of their fingers, and for the final time, golden letters spiral into existence, twisting and weaving before settling into their last arrangement.


The letters gleam brighter than ever, the final selection now etched into the air like celestial script. There will be no more reshuffling. This is it. The last dance of fate.

“Your final partners. Your final Mirage Room.” The host’s voice carries a note of finality, though it is not somber. It is charged with something more—possibility.

“One last time, my dear contestants. One last mystery to unfold. Make it count.”

The stage vanishes.

That will grant a +1 to effectiveness when the characters team up. Only those who managed to do all four dates and meeting the minimum of at least two posts each will receive the full 14 pts.
