TV & Film Favorite films?

Hey there. There are some great films; true masterpieces. But if you had to narrow it down, what movie would be your favorite? Give a few reasons. Don't think too long and hard though; just the first great film that pops into your head.


Mine is Martin Scorsese's best film, Goodfellas. It's just iconic; from "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster" to anything Joe Pesci said. Of course you can't forget Robert DeNiro, in yet another collaboration with Scorsese. It's up there with The Godfather in terms of gangster films.


So,what is yours?

Saving Private Ryan.


One of the best and most realistic WWII Movies I have ever seen. I've always been fascinated with the World Wars. Especially WWII. And this movie had always caught my attention. It's by far my favorite movie and has been whenever I first watched it as a kid. Nothing in my mind movie wise will ever pass Saving Private Ryan in my movie list. It will always be number one.

The opening battle scene; so violent, but completely justified. It's probably my favorite WWII film as well.

By far the best WWII movie out there. And then theres Band of Brothers but that's a Series not a movie.

Well firstly I don't know if Saving Private Ryan is the best WWII film; it's got some stiff competition with Schindler's List. Although I don't know whether Schindler's counts as a WWII film, maybe it's more of a holocaust movie, but the point remains. And also, while it doesn't hold a candle to Saving Private Ryan in terms of accurateness or drama, Inglorious Basterds is just plain fun.


And unfortunately I haven't seen Band of Brothers. I should get around to that

1. How to Train Your Dragon (2010)


By far one of the best animated movies I've seen; there's a coherent plot with few plot holes, and some of the best music since LotR


2. Der Untergang (2005)


Excellent acting, and mostly accurate; Bruno Ganz does a remarkable job acting as Hitler. It's a shame that some people (the so-called "Untergangers") turned the movie into a joke-fest and a laughingstock; that kind of ruined it for me.


3. Amadeus (1984)


Quite a deviation from the original course of Mozart's life, but I'm not complaining; the story is still excellent.

My favorite would have to be The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I know many people that enjoy the books don't like the movies but for me they are amazing. I love the feeling of going to a completely different world. Another one I liked was Avatar, despite everyone calling is a Pocahontas rip off.

Everything is a little bit of a rip off these days, I suppose. This may just be a guilty pleasure, or merely a pleasure in and of itself, but I thoroughly enjoy watching The Mummy. Yeah? No? Maybe?


Also, Galaxy Quest. Can't go wrong with that.

How To Train Your Dragon was quite good I must agree. As was Amadeus. Although I can't say I've seen Der Untergang. Downfall in English right? That's the movie that spawned the videos of Hitler reacting to a large manner of topics violently?

Despite all the hype around LotR I've actually never seen any, but I have heard many grear things about them. Avatar was enjoyable too. It's not the best movie ever, but it's certainly not the best. I never really understood all the hate it got online. As you mentioned, It's supposedly a rip-off of Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves/Fern Gully. Although I must say it's nigh impossible to make movie with such a subject matter (that being the whole pro nature/natives and anti corporation/business sort of thing) and not have it compared to theaforementioned films.

Yeah can't say I liked the Mummy all that much. But I'm not judging you; films are subjective. Also I must admit I haven't got around to watching Galaxy Quest. It's on my to-watch list. One day.

Favorite movies? Eeeeesh. That's a bit of a tough one. I mean, for like straight-up movies I'd have to go with The Matrix. I try to watch it once a year, usually by myself. I'm weird and picky about who I watch movies with. I also like Pacific Rim, but maybe I'm just showing my strange fascination with sci-fi stuff. Another thing I like, even though it's more of a show than a movie in a weird way, is Mystery Science Theater 3000. I love that stuff, even though the Joel seasons aren't as good to me as Mike's stuff.

Yeah The Matrix was great, but for me the sequels sort of ruin it a bit. Or at least taint it.


Pacific Rim was really dumb. But also really fun. I can't remember where I heard it, but I remember someone described it as the "greatest dumb movie/dumbest great movie". Looking forward to the sequel.


And wasn't Mystery Science Theater 3000 a show? I mean technically they watch films. Still, it's yet another thing I must watch one day.

My favorite movies are Gremlins, Felidae, and the Dark Crystal.

Recently interstellar has tickled my fancy, despite it's flaws. Of course the matrix (#1) and the star wars original trilogy are some of my favourites.


Guardians of the Galaxy is also a new recent favourite.

My favorite movie of all time would me Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, it has very memorable lines and I loved the movie so much that it is one of the few Blu-ray discs in my home. Also I loved the movie Django: Unchained mainly because of all the blood and gore, as well because it was action packed and had a few ups and downs within the story.

Also I loved the movie Django: Unchained mainly because of all the blood and gore, as well because it was action packed and had a few ups and downs within the story.

As I mentioned in my opening post, Goodfellas is my favorite too! Just so great! Made me fall in love with crime movies.


And Django was great too. I pretty much love all of Tarantino's movies! He's up there with Scorsese and Coppola.

Pacific Rim, the movie is amazing. Waiting on that sequel. :]

I too enjoyed Pacific Rim. It was plain and simple fun! Nothing groundbreaking, no extroidanary performances. Just fun!

The Boat that Rocked is probably one of my favourite films. Love Actually is my staple Christmas film.
