Probably would join the main thread, and pick up where you left off. Though, the prospects of running into anyone seem a little low...

Would I be better off just making a noble or something if interactions is an issue?

Noble would be best bet. Fyrdos, Carmondy, maybe Dyrnwald if you want to be naval/expeditionary based. Necromancer orders are mostly long gone.

The Kingdom of Fyrdos (aside from being in a few small internal fights between its own nobles and Gald barbarians) is in a conspiracy to ignite a rebellion against Carmondy and King Edmund. King Edmund's father, King Agbert, had continued to maintain a stranglehold over the region, but with his death in Valcay (a country where Carmondy was engaged in a war over the rights to ancient fiefs) and the ascension of his weaker son, they feel they have their chance. Gwyburgh, the only city in Fyrdos, is actually under the control of Carmondy and the High Magistrate they placed in charge of the realm.

Not all of Carmondy (or Fyrdos) is on the game map - currently, only a region known as the Northlands is. Here, order has mostly collapsed, with many nobles fighting one another. Recently, the Baron of Myre, Baron of Scarwin, and Baron of Yonbry were defeated in a fight between Barons Berngard, Wesgrath, and others. The King's brother-in-law was killed in a separate conflict initiated by the Duke of Sunwick, Selastin Melayne, and the Baron of Brightwood. Now, Galarhold is under siege. Beyond the game map, in the south, other barons are conspiring to replace Edmund with a nobly-elected consulate, but they haven't acted yet. A royal army led by either Edmund's younger brother Prince Altosh, or the grand marshal, Sir Argane.

Hmmm, could I be a Lord in Gwyburgh or near it with intention to seize th city as part of the fomenting rebellion for Fyrdos?

That'd be interesting, I could set you up in the hinterlands around the city.

Lord Ricardi Gula of House Gula
Count Ricardi Gula.jpg

Figure he's intent on becoming the most influential man in liberated Fyrdos. He doesn't want the crown, but seeks to become the rebel king's chancellor or whatever title. He wants power without worrying about the crown save keeping it on the new line's head. His family probably has scraped and schemed to hold onto what it has up until now. Does that work?

Works well! I imagine that, under Agbert and his predecessors' reigns, the Gula family would gradually be stripped of lands and town privileges as the Crown of Carmondy tightened the screws on the city (he can still have modest business interests in the city, but he'd have been wronged at some point - King Grenn has been snubbed and undermined frequently as well).

Under the tyranny of the High Magistracy, the Carmons seized land and money at times to encourage more men to come up from the south and serve in the garrisons. These men are hated by the general populace - but not as much as the mercenaries from Skerry isle that were hired. Although there is sizable minority of Carmons in the city, most of the Fyrdians - craftsmen, fishers, labourers, merchants - loath the Carmon yoke. Still, many Fyrdian knights are directly under the employ of the Magistrate, and have become indistinguishable from the Carmon ones. Poorer knights still serve Fyrdian nobles in the hinterlands, or what few gentle families remain in the city. Lord Arathand Qayne, the High Magistrate, having been granted far-reaching powers by the Crown in order to maintain order in the important economic hub. Sir Heywalt Marth, a Carmon-Gwyburgher, serves as mayor of the city and one of his henchmen. Other cruel marchers from Carmondy exist along the border, like the Baron of Flamebay.

Any chance you're still taking players?

I was thinking a sizable mercenary company of some kind, though that is also somewhat a cult. Violence, combat, and warfare are what its members live for, what better way to experience it than serve as sellswords?

Probably some form of border region where there's regular conflict and not enough soldiers to go around.

(And where it'd be easy to resort to banditry should the income stop flowing)

Most conflict-stricken regions are the Low Lands of Fyrdos, and the Marchlands and Northlands of Carmondy. If Crocodile's char comes into play, there will probably be an uprising by Fyrdians in The Pale against their Carmon overlords.

What would the makeup of your mercenary company be? Some info on some of the common generic soldiers encountered in the RP can be read about in the link below.

That locations looks/sounds great, and primarily veteran footmen/sergeants, a small number of men at arms and mounted crossbows, with a sizable number of veteran crossbow men. It only accepts at least reasonably experienced men, and makes some effort to have slightly standardized equipment. It does of course contain a decent handful of non soldiers, mostly craftsmen and a few surgeons, as well. Can't yet get more specific without some more time and details, but essentially the idea is they're a professional military force of fairly high quality troops.

Anything else you'd like or want from me?
