SaberLondon Tombs

Saber let out a huff of air at Caster's departing warning. Even the strongest mages of the era were no match for a servant of her caliber. That was why servants existed in the first place. Beings beyond anything modern humans were capable of. Of course there was one word that stood out to her. Assassin. She had encountered an assassin once already, and this creature certainly wasn't it. And yet Caster believed it to be Assassin. Regardless of the truth her end goal remain unchanged. It was then that she heard her Master's voice echoing in her mind. He had finished up his business rather quickly, hadn't he? Obviously him heeding her words and sending her to the tombs was the right choice as she clearly hadn't been needed. "I shall do my best, Master." Ideally she would have preferred Jun to keep away. She could fight far more freely if she didn't have to worry about his safety. But then he was competent enough and should be able to hold his own.

Her gaze shifted to the woman that began casting spells. If Saber were to be honest she felt almost insulted. Rather than face a fellow servant in combat it seemed her opponents were to be a couple of mages, Masters no doubt. To be thought so weak that any magus would even dare stand against her, a small sigh escaped the redhead's lips. Even if they didn't know her identity, her power, they should still know they were no match for a Saber-class Servant. Even as the woman prepped herself for battle Saber remained steadfast, unmoving as she simply stood in her rather relaxed position. As the light gathered, as the spell was cast, Saber pulled her sword from the ground bringing it up in a vertical swipe. The blade cut cleanly through the beam of light, her magic resistance weakening the spell substantially allowing for her sword to shatter the bindings that held it together. Particles of light splashed harmlessly around her before dissipating into the wind. With her one decisive strike complete she once again stabbed her blade into the ground.

Another, louder sigh came from Saber as the redhead shook her head. "A truly impressive feat for a modern magus. But it goes to show your inexperience if you thought such an attempt would yield any results." Other than her chastisement she ignored the attempted attack, instead switching her focus back to the white-haired mage. His reply was expected, although it was merely more disappointment for her. "Nameless, huh? I suppose we shall keep it that way, then." Indeed she did not require his name to snuff out his life. But it was still best to know those who stand before you, to challenge your might. Like the woman before him Saber made no move to prevent him from casting his magic. She simply remained as she was, letting him speak his piece and empower himself to his fullest extent. "You assure me of nothing for your assurance would require an absence of ignorance." No man who knew the breadth of their difference in power would ever assure they would emerge victorious.

Before any proper combat could begin a pleasant feminine voice filled the tombs. Her eyes glanced around, looking for the source as what could only be described as some kind of aria continued. Within moments the entirety of her surroundings changed. No longer did she find herself within the closed confines of the london tombs. No, now she stood within a majestic castle of roses. "Fascinating." The grand ballroom being her new residence along with the two magi she faced. Reality marbles were powerful noble phantasms not often seen on servants. To have one in this war surely made things more interesting. Certainly the space would benefit them, but then it also benefited her as well. Or, more accurately, being inside a reality marble benefited her greatly. "Assassin, supposedly. To think an Assassin would possess such a skill." If Caster had been correct, if this was Assassin she was dealing with, then that made this all that more interesting. And given how the beast could no longer be detected by her, it was clear that it also possessed some form of concealment.

Her situation had remained largely unchanged. It was still just the two magi that stood before her. The real issue was her Master. If he were in the tombs then he had surely been swept up by Assassin's noble phantasm. And as skilled as the man might be, he was no match for a servant. Saber cast her worries aside, if Jun needed her she was but a command seal away and he was aware of this fact. So for now the best she could do was focus on her own tasks and dispatch Assassin's Master. "I believe I have given you ample time to prepare." The roots covering the woman seemed to be the signal for Saber. The servant pulled her sword from the ground, spinning it around to face skyward as she focused her attention on the man. With no further words she lunged forward at incredible speed. Just as she had done against Rider she bombarded the man with a flurry of blows, more focused on landing even the weakest of attacks than delivering any one decisive move.

"You underestimate me, Saber!"

Law of Movement: a small Reality Marble that surrounded Dorian on a five-meter radius, which gave him some control over the kinetic energy in that area. He could aplify it, decrease it, or absorb it and generate a counter-blast. He saw how Alexandria's magic did not have much of an effect on Saber, due to the Servant's Magic Resistance, but who said he'd use this magecraft directly on her body?

Dorian could not hope to nullify Saber's fury of attacks, but he could decrease their efficiency, and increase his own. Whenever anything moved it generated kinetic energy. Saber's sword attacks where no different, nor where his. Thus he dispersed some of the kinetic energy in Saber's sword swings, while amplifying the ones in his counter strikes, but not only...

Nexus: Ego

A spell which made him able to manipulate his own gravitational field, allowing him to make himself heavy/light, fall towards any direction he wanted instead of the ground, levitate/fly at high speeds, manipulate his own weight, and anchor himself to the ground. He used it in tandem with the Innate Bound Field and his other buffs. By increasing his weight and the kinetic energy in his strikes, he generated more power. But even with all the buffs and the ability of his eyes, there where moments when he just couldn't defend himself with his sword, so he was occasionally forced to lower his weight and increase the kinetic energy in his leg movement to dodge faster.

Using his eyes, keeping in check Saber's kinetic energy and his own, constantly manipulating his weight as efficiently as he could, maintaining his buffs. It was an incredibly stressful fight, and he was alredy getting a headache. He could not use any other spells against her, and the only other thing he had in his arsenal was not possible to use at night. Not only that, but his sword, while powerful (even more so with his Reinforcement), was barely comparable to an average Noble Phantasm with no activation effects, as far as durability was concerned. Even if he somewhat lowered the power of Saber's assault, and increased his own, he could tell she was a high-tier Servant, and her Noble Phantasm was surely way above average. If the fight continued for too long, his sword would break, and he would have higher chances of getting killed.

Good grief, I could sure use some help right now. He thought, while maintaining his usual pokerface.

Melvin
After having his coffee Melvin went decide to head to one place he had seen other master's and servant's, the Landon tombs. As he was going down the street he noticed people going into the tombs. Being how late it was he doubted they were here for the regular horror altercation. With targets in mind Melvin walked into an alleyway. Then he contacted Archer.

...I believe a master and servant have arrived at the London tombs, where the overseer is located... I want you to get here quickly so we can find suitable sniper location for you... once they exit or other arrive we can get the drop on them and finish them off quickly... Melvin said to archer using there mental link. After also giving Archer the address to the tomb Melvin headed closer to the tombs keeping careful of his surroundings as to try not to get ambushed himself...

"That which comes from the great wastes..."

Alexandria sighed as her spell was deflected, just as expected. She had hoped to be lucky, that for once she could power though an opponent on the level of a Servant, but like most of the Marks she was allowed to hunt, such was not the case.

"The sands of time ebb and flow like the river's tide..."

It was always the same song and dance with these things, always a puzzle rather than a clash, a race instead of a true brawl. These were battles of wits rather than raw might, a test to see who finds the other's weakness and exploits it first. Ancestors weren't better; against those filthy things it was important to spend months searching for information, scouting ahead to ensure that they hadn't suddenly gained power or improved, and familiarizing herself with the various ways they could kill her and her them. The fact that Lorelei insisted that they only went on a full moon didn't help them any.

"That was and is and shall be, all a mirage before the Son of the Sun..."

Well, it didn't matter against the Spider, but that wasn't the point.

"I am the Dessert, the Dust, the Darkness, and Death..."

Servants were tricky; a strong enough magus could easily dispatch them in theory, but experience proved time and time again that it wasn't that easy at all. And in line with that, Alexandria decided that she wouldn't bang her head against the wall and try to overcome something that obviously resisted her magic. She would watch and wait and annoy Saber until she decided to leave.

"Setesh cannot be touched."

Oh and she had to keep Dorian alive. He was being pushed back by a Servant, and though that was admirable for any regular mage, it was somewhat of a lackluster performance. But then again, she stood shoulder to shoulder with the Queen, so maybe it was unfair to judge him, even as a member of Barthomeloi.

Assassin, return. If we can't kill Saber's Master then we'll have to settle for the woman herself.

Through Assassin's eyes, she knew that the Master was gone. Alexandria understood the work of the Puppeteer having stolen from her before and if her memory served, the Grand Red fled from her using the very same bait and switch tactic. The workmanship was exquisite and more than likely the reason Assassin didn't notice but as it stood it no longer matter.

Alexandria found that not much seemed to matter in the early days on this false war.

Assassin had revealed her hand, not the greatest loss, but Alexandria would rather keep a few more of her tricks close to her chest. Still, that would not stop her from acting. And if she had to be the distraction to make sure the boy lived another day, then so be it.

"Kenaz, Isa, Ehwaz, Algis."

In an instant, Alexandria closed the distance and threw a punch that could have easily pulverized stone.

Assassin
Assassin merely crushed the head of Jun's puppet before making her way towards the ballroom. What a shameful use of her Noble Phantasm on an opponent that wasn't even here. The next time she met the this enemy master, he wouldn't be so lucky in getting away. With that Assassin didn't waste anymore time as it blinked off to the ballroom, leaving a huge dust cloud in her wake.

"Master, I am here."

At that moment a sudden black blur came into existence in front of Saber. Assassin proceeded to lunge herself onto Saber. Several hands formed from the black sludge wolf's body as they were preparing to pin down Saber at the moment. Assassin 'adjusted herself' as she prepared to crash land into Saber. There probably wasn't even enough time for Saber to act given that the unnatural speed Assassin possessed. It would only be deterred if Saber herself obtained unnaturally instincts, clairvoyance, or anything that would tell her ahead of time of the attack. If given the chance it'd bite off Saber's neck.

Archer

A signal from his temporary partner was given. A trail discovered. A hunt to begin. With his superior speed, it did not take long for Archer to arrive at London Bridge. He chose to stay atop the tallest building possbile in the area, which was undoubtly the Shard, roughly 310 meters tall. It was by far the tallest skyscrapper in Europe. Not that Archer would know that.

Suddenly, his bracelet became a green bow, and from it emerged 15 unusual branches which bended, stretched, and some of them wraped themselves around the Servant's arm. Upon further inspection, one would see that each branch had arms and a smaller version of Archer's bow in their hands, and their heads where represented by a bunch of leaves. Both Archer and the wooden humanoids where ready any second to stretch their bow and launch an assault.

I am in position. Prepared for battle. He telepathically replied to Melvin.

It took Saber only a few blows to realize what was happening. Her strikes were being weakened, and her opponent's were being empowered. She didn't know how the magus was pulling it off, most likely some kind of magic. But it was of little concern for the sword-wielding servant. It wasn't as if she was putting her strength behind her swings. She wasn't after big powerful blows, so even with her power diminished all she needed to do was cut her opponent to accomplish her goal. A smile tugged at her lips as she defended against the man's counter-attacks. The blows were strong, strong enough for her to actually care to defend against them. Strong enough for her to actually feel the weight and power behind them. It was clear her opponent was far beyond any normal human. But at the end of the day, being far beyond a normal human was still insufficient to face a servant of her caliber. Now, if Jun was to fight this man...

Even amidst the fight Saber did not devout her entirety to the man before her. She kept a careful sense on her surroundings, and the spell being cast by the woman in the back did not go unnoticed. Normally having numbers was an advantage in a fight. But it could also prove detrimental against a foe who knew how to use your superior numbers against you. Jun would feel a slightly increased pull on his mana reserves as Saber continued her fight with Dorian. Soon enough the woman unleashed her spell and, although different than what she figured it would be, it would still suit her needs just fine. As the woman's fist came forward saber let go of her sword, moving with an agility far beyond either of her opponents as she ducked beneath the blow. Bringing her arms up she grabbed the woman's outstretched arm. Twisting and contorting her body to use the woman's own momentum against her as Saber used the combination of her own strength along with the aforementioned momentum to throw the female magus at her comrade with frightening speed.

With her Master's parting words she knew it was only a matter of time until Assassin made it's debut. But even knowing it was coming, the sheer speed of it's appearance along with the timing caught her unaware. But as demonstrated with Assassin's Master, her movements flowed with the situation. Using the momentum of the tackle to roll her body backwards, using her leg to kick Assassin over her before the creature could get a firm grip. Saber completed her backwards somersault, deftly getting to her feet as her brief bout of martial prowess had given her a moment's room to breathe. Plucking up her sword from the ground she had a beaming smile on her face. A pair of human magi and the weakest servant of the war were managing to actually pressure her. After the disappointment of her prior encounters it was nice to have foes capable of actually pushing her.

Saber threw out her left arm, a crimson cloak materializing in her outstretched hand before being quickly draped over her shoulders. Despite being inside a castle the cloak still seemed to flutter in the wind, her every movement causing it to flow gracefully behind her. It was clear that Assassin possessed a speed beyond her own, and while that was not an insurmountable obstacle in of itself, having to deal with the two magi at the same time would prove difficult. "To think I'd have to use this here." Her sword began glowing with an eerie, dark energy. Wisps of yellow and black magic swirled around it's blade, rolling and crashing over itself as it rapidly grew in intensity. Her gaze was locked on Assassin and, more importantly the castle they resided in. Saber held her blade up high, the sickening deathly energy pulsating out from her sword.

"Everything dies in the end, Assassin, your garden is no different!"
The energy reached it's apex as Saber brought the sword crashing down in one large overhead swing. A wave of black-yellow magic poured from the sword, encompassing everything that stood before the servant. Anything caught in the blast would meet an instant end, it's life snuffed out. The roses instantly turned to dust, the vines that made up the castle's walls disintegrating into the wind. As if anything touched by the energy had it's time fast-forwarded to the end of it's life in the instance between seconds. Even the mightiest of fortresses would fall to such an attack. And in a moment the landscape had been transformed. No longer were they standing in an illustrious rose-covered castle. For as far as the eye could see there was nothing but a flat, barren, desolate landscape. Even the ground itself could not avoid meeting it's end.

As the last wisps of energy cascaded forth Saber's posture loosened. Her breathing labored with beads of sweat dripping down her form. One Noble Phantasm for another. While she would have preferred to keep this attack for later in the war, it was only right to meet her foe with equal strength. Still, she scanned the horizon in search of any sign of her opponents. If they had survived she would surely need her Master's assistance.

The moments after Alexandria invoked her spell were messy, though she didn't think things could have gone any better.

The Mirage of Set was a subtle magic, though it was potent enough to be the first in her arsenal whenever she was forced to really think instead of fight. A significant amount if it's mana was dedicated to setting up the conditions for its activation, but since one could never be too careful against other beings that approached True Magic, she was ready to activated it any time she saw fit. The best and first defense was not to get hit after all.

The spell itself was loosely based on something she picked up when she indulged in the entertainment for children in the far east, as well as some magics that originated there. Substitution, if she recalled the name of the technique correctly.

Alexandria manually activated magic activated just as Saber evaded the blow, in the fractions of a second the Servant's body shifted away from her own enchanted fist and the Saber's hand met her arm. If one looked closely, her form shifted just a tiny bit, like the slight flicker of a mirage when the sun glares down on hellish dunes and in that moment in time her magic took hold. She was transported a short distance away, a Single Action Transportation Spell and in her place was a figure formed in her exact likeness, a tactile mirage impeccably formed though Alchemy governing organic matter. She could control it remotely using it's synthetic nervous system, a construct derived from the Vice Director herself, but she thought it best to wait as even if she could force it to react in time, the puppet was meant to take the blow.

She watched from the shadows as Saber hurled the doppelganger at Dorian and Assassin emerged and entered the fray, distracting her as she began to weave her magic through the lifelike doll.

Spells entered her mind and were quickly discarded as Assassin and Saber clashed like the legends they were. She had faith in her Servant and in her impromptu partner, the former was holding on valiantly against the supposed strongest servant, and the Choir Boy would survive this if he could survive the Hunt. No, the spells that filled her consciousness were those to poke and to prod instead of defend, to test the vessel that carried a heroic spirit and leverage any weakness that might arise form such a faulty conversion. Servants were far from perfect, simply feeble imitations compared to Heroic Spirits and fully manifested Counter Guardians, therefore it was only right that they had a weakness somewhere.

Since Saber's Master was too far to leverage, Alexandria would have to spot a weakness from the woman herself.

Still, her strike would not come before Saber and Alexandria watched with no small amount of fear as a wave of sickly yellow and the darkest black engulfed what was to be the castle and her servant. The power in the strike was significant, the authority palpable, but she instantly noticed that it was a strike with a limited area of effect in three dimensional space, at least in reference to saber herself and its directional vectors, and it wasn't something like an attack that followed the target until it's destruction. She could feel from her Bond that Assassin still lived, EX agility could probably be at par with the summoning system using Command Seals, but even as the Phantasm destroyed everything before it in the false world, the question remained.

Should she strike or flee?

The Mirage of Set was still active, and though she didn't see Dorian, it wasn't wise to assume him dead just yet. Her own physical reserves were brimming with od, her circuits were comfortably cool, and though her secondary battery been depleted somewhat, it wasn't something that couldn't be recovered in a couple of hours. She watched curiously as Saber's form shifted, the gallant knight assuming a stance that belied exhaustion more than battle readiness, but it could have easily been a ruse. There was no reason to stay, the Observer had gone against her, but there was no reason to let Saber live if she was on the brink.

In the end, she chose.

Eli barely had enough time to let out a 'huh' of confusion before he was unceremoniously whisked away by his Servant. The young man wasn't even able to protest as Caster grabbed him by the collar, soon blinded by a radiant light. Left in a daze, he no longer heard the commotion that once filled the London Tombs, the occupants now far away. The next time Eli was able to open his eyes, he found the dark catacombs replaced with his not so familiar home. Shortly afterward, the brief silence was filled as Caster raised his voice, reclaiming the gun and demanding answers.

Shaking his head, Eli took a few steps forward as he tried to adjust his eyes to the new environment after being momentarily blinded. "They hurt like hell." After taking some time to rub his eyelids, he looked to the mage while squinting. "Give a better warning before you do shit like that."

Eli's answer was honest, evident by how he reacted to Caster's light show. However, it clearly wasn't the one that the man was looking for. Despite giving a truthful response, Eli knew very well what he wanted to hear. That wasn't something he wanted to answer. For that reason, he simply dodged the question.

"I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted after that mess." While avoiding the question was one of his motivations for calling it a night, Eli really did feel drained after the ordeal that he just went through. What was supposed to be a talk with the Overseer turned into a major pain in the ass. After being attacked by slime monsters, magic cat girls, and crazy people with swords, he definitely needed some rest.

"You can just let yourself out." He owned the building now, so locking up wouldn't be a problem. With that, he opened the door to his bedroom and shut it behind him, cutting himself off from Caster for the rest of the night. He couldn't resist letting out a sigh after slipping inside. While that was partly due to exhaustion, there was a bit of relief mixed in as well.

Running a hand through his hair, Eli made his way to the bathroom, greeted by the damaged mirror and a distorted reflection of his own face. Even if the broken glass didn't reveal much, he could tell that he wasn't looking his best at the moment. Rolling around in the tombs would probably do that to anybody.

Not wanting to go to bed covered in whatever managed to cling to him during the scuffle with Assassin, he turned on the shower, filling the tub with cool water that quickly went down the drain. His shirt resisted when he tried to remove it, the fabric desperately sticking to his back before eventually sliding off. He had been sweating more than he thought, but it had nothing to do with the fight itself. Back then, he could feel himself getting nauseous. Not only that, but the light pounding in his head was growing stronger by the minute. Although, both had lessened since leaving the tombs.

While the temperature was as cold as ice, Eli didn't flinch as the water rained down on his tan skin. He had gotten used to it after trying to cut costs by not using the water heater. It slightly helped alleviate what was left of the headaches, but he didn't really feel refreshed. What Caster said before was weighing on his mind. It didn't have to do with the man's demand to know more about his eyes. Instead, he recalled what he had been told about growing stronger to keep his ideals. The more he thought about that, the more frustrated he became. Resting his head against the wall, he let the water wash away that feeling along with the rest of the dirt. Damn it...

When he stepped back into the open air, it felt like his exhaustion had tripled, as if the water had caused it to grow. Towel still covering his head of wet hair, he collapsed on the bed that had been recently added to his room. At that moment, his previous concerns faded away. With his face buried in the soft material, it felt like he was sinking into a cloud. Surrounded by cool sheets and fluffy pillows, he took a deep breath as a relaxing sensation began to take over. It had been a long time since he last had a bed. Sure, he still had a mattress before today, but that was it. The last time he slept in one was when he was a kid.

For an instant, all the exhaustion Eli had accumulated during the day vanished. Quickly rising, he removed himself from the bed. The relaxed expression had morphed into a small frown, persisting as he took off the blankets from the mattress. He almost forgot. He was tired and wasn't thinking straight, almost allowing himself to fall asleep in comfort.

Settling down on the floor wrapped in nothing but blankets, Eli stared into the darkness that filled his room. A lot had happened. In one day, his life had changed. It would continue to change for the duration of this war. He had learned many things, whether he wanted to or not. A mysterious stranger had appeared from nowhere and brought with him chaos he never could've imagined. There were many things he had to consider now. However, they could wait until tomorrow. His eyes felt heavy.

Caster

Caster couldn’t even begin to describe the frustration he felt at Eli’s response. Was the human being purposely obtuse? Before Caster could even get a chance to clarify his demand, Eli stated he was going to sleep and walked away. Ignored Caster basically. Sent Caster off with the dismissive air of a king to a commoner. A Master to a Servant. For a moment (just a moment), Caster was speechless.

Then Caster dispersed into his spiritual body. If Eli thought a door was enough to stop a Servant, he had another thing coming. Manifesting on the other side, Caster spoke irritatingly. “If you think you can—,”

He stopped the moment he heard water being turned on. Eli wasn’t even listening to him. Caster debated the pros and cons of simply barging in while the human was in the bathroom and continuing where he left off. It was important after all. In the end, the Servant simply sighed and settled in Eli’s new bed, palms against the soft mattress and eyes towards the ceiling, as he considered the day’s events. Being summoned into a small shoddy apartment that could hardly count as a living space. Exploring London. Buying land. Refurnishing Eli’s apartment. Making a deal with his Master. Letting the human speak with the Overseer and getting a clarification on the rules of the strange war. Finally, his encounter with Assassin, Assassin’s Master, and Saber.

While staying might’ve been an eye-opening experience for his knowledge-less Master, it was a bit much for Eli and the reward offered wasn’t worth the risk. He’d count himself lucky if either Saber or Assassin died in the battle. One less enemy to deal with. Assassin’s Master might prove to be a nuisance as well in the long run. The present was built from the past. Those that studied enough history could draw on its power…in theory. However, that wasn’t strictly true. The power behind it wasn’t the same. It was due to Eve’s touching of the forbidden fruit that God’s miracles were lost to the world. Knowledge is the opposite of mystery—especially when it came to powers derived from faith alone.

Servants were the very proof of that.

The rules governing them were entirely different—their Noble Phantasms a manifestation of true miracles created from the faith people put into their legends. If the two human mages thought they could easily handle a Servant like Saber, they had another thing coming. Caster didn’t think it was impossible. There was more to War than just power and Magical Arts. There was also Martial Arts. Tactics. Wealth and resources. Human ingenuity wasn’t something he’d come to dismiss since being summoned into the current era. God loves humans. What Caster thought of their sinful and ungrateful ways wouldn’t change that fact. God was the one he served and magic but a simple tool in which he used to accomplish his service.

There in lie the difference between him and the witch. Her abilities were one stolen to achieve her own ends. His abilities were an authority given to him. Caster could tell the sort of magus she was with one look. Their mindsets were polar opposites.

“I wonder what her wish would spell for the world,” A passing thought, nothing more. His era had long since passed. Whatever happens in the London Grail War, Caster only had but one wish.

The moment Eli exited the bathroom, Caster vanished into his spirit form, but didn’t leave. Instead, he continued to observe the human that summoned him into the era. Was having a dangerous wish that could pose a threat to the world better than not having a wish at all? It was admirable, he supposed. To take one’s wish into their own hands. To have such strong resolve not to kill. Had Eli killed before? Taken so many lives that he’d grown sick of it? Or did it have to do with the fact Eli avoided Caster’s question about his eyes. Caster watched as Eli got up from the bed and settled on the floor with a blanket, a non-existent eyebrow raised.

A commoner would always be commoner.

Still. He couldn’t have Eli complaining about having a bad back tomorrow. Caster had no plans of letting the human off. Eli would receive such rigorous training by Caster’s hand that he would regret making a deal with the Servant for money. But such things could wait until the next day. Caster waited until Eli’s breathing evened out before manifesting into his physical form. A single, murmured spell and Eli was gently lifted back on the bed, the blanket covering his Master’s form.

He could continue to play with the stocks he'd purchased. Eli would likely expect him to keep his end of the bargain. He could also begin the creation of a Holy Script—one best suited for Eli. The one he’d made in less than 10 minutes could hardly be called his best work. It was simply something he’d thrown together for defense whenever he went out as Johnny. Designed more for versatility than power, Eli couldn’t possibly make use of its full potential (especially if he had reading problems). Caster sighed.

Once more disappearing, Caster reappeared in one of the unused rooms he’d chosen for himself, staff in hand. The Holy Script he’d left in the Catacombs had yet to be destroyed. He’d know the moment it was. On the contrary, it was drawing more mana than he thought it would considering he’d designed it to be subtle in its leech of the catacombs. Had one of the Servants activated their Noble Phantasm or something? Caster glanced bemusedly at the glowing, blue orb at the end of his staff before his curiosity got the better of him. A single command and the crystal ball reflected the images as seen through the hallowed eyes of his Holy Script.

Caster blinked. A vast wasteland, severely damaged fortress, some broken puppets, and two heated Servants. “Well…isn’t this interesting~”

Assassin
Assassin's body flew by as Saber pushed her away. Rolling down to the ground and creating sludge like hands to push her up. All six of Assassins eyes landed onto Saber. Mana was poured into the sword, and Assassin could tell Saber's next swing would kill everything in it's path. Time slowed down for Assassin as Saber announced her declaration. All things come to an end? What blasphemy was saying? It was true all things came to an end, but it sounded like nonsense to Assassin. Her kingdom destroyed? Impossible, improbable. Even if this castle was just an imitation of her true castle, it couldn't be destroyed!

Just like that, Saber swung her sword. In that exact moment time slowed down for Assassin. It was easy to dodge the blow itself after all having EX Agility enhanced her reaction time and her speed. In a matter of seconds, Assassin seemingly disappeared. In the next moment everything seemed to disappear. Assassin, who was in the air, gently fell down to the ground. Raising her head, she looked around her surroundings. There was... Nothing, absolutely nothing. It was as if her Castle didn't exist. A thought occurred to Assassin, whose eyes desperately looked around trying to spot an object of deep value.

Everything went red for a brief second before Assassin set her eyes onto Saber. How dare she! How dare she destroy her love's grave and body! Her kingdom was one thing, but this... This was a sin. A crime that could not be forgiven, nor forgotten even if the memories were erased. Another thought flew through her that was quickly extinguished. Alexandria was still alive. Relieve slowly turned into anger as all six eyes stared at Saber. "Saber... How dare you." The sludge that maintained the form of Assassin slowly shifted. "By your noble phantasm alone, I could tell what kind of person you are."

"You're a conqueror. A person who invades others lands in order to supplement your own." Red slowly consumed all six of her eyes the more she stared at Saber. "In the name of my kingdom, and my beloved who's body and grave you have desecrated, I shall adasdadgascasdhashafgafafdadfa..." Assassin's words soon became jumbled to everyone around her. She spoke of a language lost through history. No one in the modern day would understand, or learn what this language would be. After all, no humans could see fairies as well as Assassin did. Though by the tone of Assassin's voice the words seemed to be unkind.

"Afadfagagas!" With that countless number of claws emerged out of Assassin as the rushed at the tired Saber. The tunnel vision grew onto the Saber as everything else seemingly disappeared. All that matter was Saber. Even if she would die here, at least Saber would suffer a fate worse than death. After all her curse was perfect for that sort of thing.

As the dust cleared it became readily apparent that her final attack had failed. The tired redhead clicked her tongue as she saw the slime-dog glaring at her. To use her noble phantasm and not achieve victory put her at an immense disadvantage. Such a disadvantage that she may even have to give her opponent everything she had. The thought brought a frown to her lips. She refocused her attention on the dog as it spoke. Her frown quickly turned into a wry smile at Assassin's words. "Was it that obvious? I did not think that attack would have given away much." The beast seemed so consumed with fury that it's speech deteriorated into incomprehensible gibberish. Truly that which resided within this reality marble meant much to Assassin.

Indeed it would seem her foes would continue this fight to the very end. Her hands were tied, her actions forced. Even if she wanted to retreat she couldn't. All she could do was stand and fight. But that was not possible with her own reserves. It had taken nearly all that she had to unleash her noble phantasm. From here on out she'd have to draw from her Master directly, she could only hope Jun was able to endure it. As the beast conjured up innumerable claws and began it's rush Saber stabbed her blade into the ground. The redhead took a deep breath, her steady gaze held firmly on her opponent. "Alea iacta est."

Just as the beast was to collide with Saber it would instead slam directly into a wall of rectangular shields. Standing before the crimson cloaked woman were dozens of soldiers, each and every one sporting a large shield to hold the beast at bay. However, these men were not alone. Stretching forth behind her were legions of similarly armored warriors. Row upon row of men with such discipline that they could be mistaken for statues. The core block was flanked by hundreds of cavalry as well as archers and javelineers with siege equipment such as catapults and ballistae assembled in the rear. In total the forces surrounding Saber numbered over 5,000 strong.

With the reprieve bought by the men before her Saber took a moment to speak out to her foe. "You are correct, Assassin. I am indeed a conqueror. I am an Emperor. All that stretches before me is rightfully mine. But no Emperor can rule alone. No, an Emperor requires men to follow him. To carry out his will. To bring him victory. You do not face a mere swordsman, Assassin. You stand before your Emperor and the full might that he commands." The row of shields began to slowly advance as the army moved to engage the beast. Individually the soldiers could be classed as possessing rank E in every field. Yet despite their individual frailty their attacks were still lethal, and their numbers overwhelming. Facts that Saber was intent on making use of. As her army advanced the archers unleashed a volley at not only Assassin, but also anyone else that had survived her initial attack. A rain of hundreds of arrows came careening down, blanketing the area before her formation. To accompany this barrage came flaming boulders hurled by the catapults far in the back. The rocks came crashing down with thunderous explosions, far more potent than one might expect from such ancient weaponry. While it was unfortunate that her enemies had survived her attack, the fact remained that Assassin's now barren noble phantasm gave her the optimal battlefield for her to run wild on.

Dorian Barthomeloi
Great, Alexandria came in for the rescue. Which would give him a bit of time to catch his breath, but she was quickly dealt with. If he didn't activate his eyes, he would have tried to catch the woman which was thrown, but since he saw the movement that Alexandria's real body was about to take, he simply jumped and let the doppelganger roll on the ground.

Meanwhile, it seemed that Saber maintained most of her attention on the monstrously fast Assassin. For a second, Dorian was relieved, but thee slime dog was quickly dealt with, and his eyes where engulfed in blue. A wide area attack...Saber would definetly activate her Noble Phantasm.

I am my own axis... Nexus: Ego

Thus he used his spell to fly up in the sky and watch from there as Assassin's castle was laid to waste with one blow from Saber's deadly energy blast. "Such terrifying power, but..." It was clear that Saber was tired. A Noble Phantasm of that magnitude would not be an easy burden on prana reserves, and it seemed that for that specific attack, Saber used her own. Was her Master that weak, or was he low on fuel? Dorian could only wonder.

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted when Assassin ferociously attacked Saber, apparently being furious that the swordswoman destroyed its castle. Which in turn made the red-haired woman activate another Noble Phantasm. At that altitude, a normal human could not hear what was said, but because Dorian completely reinforced his body, including the enhancement of his hearing capacity, he could hear the few words in (simingly) latin that Saber spoke. A few moments later, he watched in horror, while still maintaining his pokerface, as an army of thousands of soldiers formed around Saber, who began a speech about her status as an emperor and the need of a powerful army to maintain her status quo.

Latin incantation, and is an emperor... a ruler of Ancient Rome, I suppose. But female?

Could have been Nero , Augustus, Marcus Aurelius, Caesar, Traian, Caligula or any other of the almost 100 emperors that Rome had. But since she was so powerful, she needed to be one of the more famous ones. But was one of them secretly a woman, or did the people behind this fake war just have a bad sense of humour? Yet again, he could only wonder. But it was not the time to be lost in thought.

From their movements, the soldiers didn't seem even remotely as powerful as Saber, but there still was one thing Dorian was uncertain of. Did they have any noteworthy Magic Resistance? If they did, he, Alexandria, and Assassin would definetly die. There was only one way to find out. As soon as the arrows where launched in the air...

Nexus: Attraction Field

Dorian used the spell to attract the vast majority of arrows towards him. It was working. "No magic resistance, huh?"

Nexus: Repulsion Field

As soon as the arrows where pulled close to him, Dorian used another spell to send them back at full force.

Magneto Plus x 10

He proceeded to generate ten magical spheres with plus symbols on them, which he scattered in the air but close to the army. They were basically insanely powerful magnets, which would attract any magnetizable objects within the area, even if they where the size of a car, and Dorian knew for sure that Romans did use iron for their weapons. He didn't know if it would work for sure, given their conceptual nature but he had to try.

The light is my strength, Prism.

Since it was daytime in Assassin's Reality Marble, Dorian could use this spell to its fullest. By shifting light particles, he made himself invisible and flew higher. He had to try it, that spell of his which only worked during the day. Not that he could be seen by normal means, but he lifted his right arm and a small yellowish orb formed above his opened palm.

Ever bright, no grace beyond your light,
Ever cruel, your blaze can scoarch the earth,
I am a mere fool that bows to your might,
Icarus is my name, and I burn my wings...

To glorify the flame!

With each verse the orb grew in size until it became something akin to a miniature sun. The heat it radiated was unreal, but Dorian was immune to its effects.

"Solaris Malevolence!"

The mini-sun absorbed heat from the conceptual sun in Assassin's Innate Bound Field and grew even bigger. At this point it had a 50-meter diameter. Dorian then controlled it with a hand gesture and launched it at the army bellow. But he was not done yet.

Diablo x 10

Then heat waves at maximum output launched at the same time, but as soon as they reached the orb, they disappeared, but the orb grew hotter and somewhat bigger. Dorian merely used them to give more power to his strongest spell. The miniature sun would descend incredibly fast towards its targets, with monstruous heat that could be felt even without direct contact.

Alexandria and Assassin where still down there, but he belived in them.

Είμαι ο κατακτητής, Χάρυβδις.

Alexandria grew tired of this farce. She could respect the fact that Saber's master seemed able to supply the Servant with an ample amount of power but the battle had been dragging on for far too long. Her mana had mingled with her Servant's and in materializing such a Mystery, she could almost perceive this false world like her Assassin did. She could feel the drain, no matter how relatively small it was on her, as well as the glaring beacons that were Saber and her Noble Phantasms as well as Caster and his more subtle one. Prester John was a Magus below her if you factored out his current status as a Servant and it was obvious that Ceasar wasn't as powerful as S/He should be.

"Τα έργα του ανθρώπου έχουν εξαφανιστεί"

Records that were allowed to her showed that Caesar in his most common incarnation was male, she referred to those records as a whole when she was reconstructing the Pillars, as well as her own pet projects.

"Η κοιλιά μου τους έχει καταπιεί στους αμέτρητους αριθμούς τους"

The Spy needed to be dealt with, as well as the torrent of projectiles that came hurtling towards her. The well hidden watch glass was likened to the thousands of barbs in make, though each wrought into existence by those Beyond Time, they held no name and therefore no true weight. Their make was beyond that of current humanity, though that power would not serve them against her. In the same way clay would give way to the current, these constructs eroded in the face of her Mystery. And just in case that did not suffice, she drew on the power of the Old and the New to create something more.

"Έλαβα από τη Γαία, κανένας δεν μπορεί να σταθεί ενάντια σε εμένα"

The False World rippled as the True One was invoked. In frightening parallel, arrows that approached and the fire that came down around her and her Servant was greedily devoured by black mist that poured forth from the depths of her dress, not ruined like that touched by Yellow Death but devoured and taken; Plundered.

The World around them, though only in an immediate area, simply disappeared and all caught within was fed into Alexandria like the monster Charybdis devoured anything around him. With a force of will, she reached where the spyglass was hidden, devouring even that as her strength to Plunder came from Gods compared to the authority that was afforded to Angels and Demons. For the authority to Plunder was a Demonic rather than Angelic, that even before the Abrahamic God's name was imagined, those who held the world had taken and feasted on those beneath them even before the First Hero.

Alexandria was feeding that power back into her secondary reserves as well as into her Servant that the False World could be rebuilt and in effect, only that which did not belong to Assassin was washed away and dragged into the Monster's Belly. So stood Alexandria and her Assassin cloaked in the storm while the world around them raged and reformed power taken and used as the assault dragged on and the shade of arrows fell under the light of a Cruel Sun.

"δώρο από το Eρως, από Οὐρανός "

With the mana she no longer needed, she willed the world around them to change. Through Assassin as the conduit, the Words brought forth flowers instead of stars to fill the sky, each one a miraculous red rose; a gift from a grandfather to his grandchild. Alexandria thought that would have been enough to sate the anger of her Servant, and even if it was day, the bright blue held a blush of red, a mosaic of twilight to serve as a backdrop as the Servants of Betrayal waged war.

Assassin, do as you will, though allow me a few moments to speak with the Servant. Strike after her reply, and strike if she refuses to give it.

Saber's power was great, of that she had no doubt, but her Master had to be weakening if they were all children in this False War.

"Tell me Saber," Her voice echoed out of the storm, though it was guttural and harsh as if it was her own throat that was devouring the arrows as well as the fire. "How long can you and your child of a Master last?"

Gonna pass out now XD

Assassin growled at this new revelation that had appeared before her. Who knew that people were allowed to follow this despicable conqueror, and ruined the lives of the many in order to fulfill their own greed. That was Assassin's thoughts if it they were a bit biased. She glared at the arrows and the army that Saber had summoned until a sun like structure manifested and was shot down upon to Saber's army. So, Alexandria's 'little friend' managed to survive Saber's magical burst of destruction. While it was a true wonder on how he survived, it should been expected since Alexandria regarded him well enough to fight by her side. Then that changed as Alexandria drew onto her next act.

If there was a god out there, _________ would of yelled there was one, then she might of been blessed by one to have a master like this. All of the arrows were swallowed into a black mist that ate everything that was sent into it like a black hole. Assassin had to reposition herself in order to avoid the 'vortex' that started to swallow everything that was caught into it. What was the limits for Alexandria? From combating a Caster in the arts of magecraft to fighting Saber, with white head and Assassin of course. With another word from Alexandria Assassin felt a familiar presence grew into her.

Assassin looked up to the skies. There were thousand of roses that filled the skies like the stars themselves. Each and every one of them made her reminisce of the day she met the old man. Snapping out of her thoughts instantly, she followed through Alexandria's plan. The faint glow that she felt within this false body faded as Assassin disappeared. Within a blink of an eye, Saber was inside her (Oh dear). Her limbs were constricted by Assassin's slime, and the jaws of the monstrosity were near the conqueror's neck. With the command, she waited for the instant that Saber either refused to talk to Alexandria, or conversed with Alexandria. Either way, she stabbed Saber behind her neck, that should of caused no pain what so ever.

Despite this place not being her kingdom, it was still her domain. The story of the Cursed Beast would live on within these accursed lands. The curse had been planted, though it shouldn't of taken into full effect. The conqueror deserved to starve for love after what she had done to her castle.

Caster
Seated at a plain wooden desk, Caster continued to type away on his laptop even as he watched the intensity of the battle between Team Assassin and Saber from the corner of his eyes. The staff floated beside him, projecting an image of the battle against the across wall. It was quite entertaining. Big spells fired one after another. The air was wonderfully saturated with mana. Not that a reality marble Noble Phantasm of such a grand scale wasn't a big ball of mana itself. Now that he was consciously connected to his Holy Script, he could feel the sheer mana source maintaining the Noble Phantasm he was steadily leeching from.

Lovely.

He didn't feel any guilt about taking back what rightfully belonged to God. Especially from a witch. The woman's magic created a giant vortex that consumed a portion of Saber's Alea iacta est to power herself, which fed Assassin's Noble Phantasm, which he took from. A perfect cycle. While he could further raise the ante and try to increase his pull, the thief magus would likely resist if she noticed. Chances are she already did, given he already upped the mana drain a notch upon realizing that Assassin had used her Noble Phantasm to set the battle stage. Why the magus didn't do anything about it...Caster credited to Saber's distraction. Or the girl deemed the drain too insignificant to care about a couple missing roses. Whichever the case, Caster was satisfied.

Amused, really--watching arrows fly upward via attraction magic, shot down back at the archers, only to be drawn in by the black vortex before they could hit their target. Said vortex also swallowed up the 50-meter mini sun that was made by her ally and probably cost a chunk of mana.

Hard to tell if Team Assassin was working together or not.

Either way, if Gaius Julius Cesar was every bit the tactician the website made him out to be he-- or rather she--would realize realize that retreat, or at least reformation, of her troops was the best choice in the current situation. Caster chuckled, black locks shifting slightly as he looked up at the sight of Assassin trying to constrain Saber. A clever ploy. The magus doing the distraction while Assassin, true to her class, went for stealth. Even if the dog's stealth was weak, her sheer speed made up for it.

Humming, Caster closed the laptop.

Combat clothes had been replaced by sleep robes to increase his comfort--modeled after what humans of the current era wore. Servants didn't need to sleep, but it still felt nice. Eli wouldn't be up until the morning anyway and there were certain luxuries Caster was willing to indulge in while he remained in the era. He'd even found a bottle of beer in the apartment's fridge and was quick to try a taste of modern spirits. It had..interesting...flavor, though wasn't as strong as he was used to.

He studied the strategies employed before him, wondering how the battle of egos would end, whether any of his enemies would die, and if becoming a girl had somehow dulled the Roman Emperor's war skills. It was at that moment, a sound caught Caster off guard. Blinking, Caster reach into his sleeves and pulled out the phone he'd sequestered at the catacombs. Eli got one. He took another one. The bag was there, after all, and if a Master was too slow to take one for themselves before a Servant did, well, that was too bad.

He read the message, an eyebrow raised. "Ah. The die is truly cast I see."

Texting back a 'Thanks' to the Overseer that sent him (and likely Eli) the information, Caster grinned. It saved him a bit of time researching. Still. Caster couldn't help but wonder what their purpose was for doing so...and whether the Overseers knew as much about him as they did Saber. Not that it mattered in the long run. People knowing about him didn't change his goals.

Now, what to do...?

He didn't mind if either Assassin or Saber died fighting each other. That was how Grail Wars went after all. However, the white haired human was different. An outsider who Eli did not want to kill. Judging from his actions in the battle, it would seem he and Assassin's master weren't very close. Or weren't used to fighting in a team. Either way, Caster had some questions for the outsider. Getting up from the desk, Caster moved to the center of the cramped apartment room (not Eli's) for a bit of space.

Without looking away from the images across the wall, Caster sent a simple text to the Overseer(s): 'Do I still get a seal for killing the intruder?'

He didn't wait for a reply. A single murmured command and the skull floating in the rose-covered sky ceased its mana-gathering and started to glow with energy. Zipping across the skies of Assassin's Noble Phantasm the Holy Script slammed into the white-haired mage, forcing itself past any forces of repulsion with the help of the golden barrier Caster had created around it. Much like the magic that protected Eli from Assassin, the golden, protective energy had shrunk to encase the grotesque prop.

Then an explosion sounded off.

Holding his Holy Script in one hand, Caster caught a hold of the body that was summoned along with it in his other arm. He'd called his Holy Script to him the instant the explosion sounded off. The explosion shouldn't be enough to kill a magus that could fend off Saber. If the human was injured, Caster could heal him, so it wasn't a big deal. Holy magic was good for that after all.

"Sorry for taking you away from all the fun, but I have some questions for you, Magus." Caster smiled in a friendly manner. "I hope you don't mind answering them."

Eli had refused to answer questions about his own Mystic Eyes, so Caster would get his answer from another modern Mystic Eye user that might know something about it. Maybe. If not, Caster had other questions as well...like why the Overseers would want a non-participant like him dead. Or why he was in the catacombs. That was probably important too.

SaberLondon Tombs

Saber remained steadfast, her legion surging forward under a hail of friendly fire. The pair of mages did well to endure the opening salvo. Arrows were sent flying to and fro under the man's spells. Clearly a rain of arrows wouldn't work. But then, a simple barrage never won a battle. She watched on as he cast a large-scale destructive spell. Such a spell would cause many casualties if it were to hit her troops. As such she pulled her sword from the ground, ready to leap forward to intercept. However, before she could take a step the miniature sun was drawn into a black abyss that consumed all that went towards it. Despite being allies, the female magus had saved her troops. It was obvious their coordination left much to be desired. But then, she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Her focus was drawn to said female, her words conjuring forth yet another spell. Only the effects of this one were peculiar to say the least. Roses bloomed across the sky, as many as there were stars. In an instant Assassin had closed the distance, wrapping her up in it's slimy body before she even had a chance to react. The soldiers around her immediately stopped and pointed their weapons at the creature in response. "So that's it..." That explained Assassin's unnatural speed and why the dog was so much slower after having her castle destroyed. Why it's Master would waste time casting a spell to summon roses in the sky. She looked at the master, seemingly unconcerned with her predicament.

"You need not concern yourself with my Master." There was a surge of mana from within Saber. It grew in intensity before exploding outward from her body, covering her in a wreath of flame that would burn Assassin alive if it didn't use it's impressive agility to escape. Despite being encased in fire Saber showed not even the slightest hint of discomfort. With a moment to spare she noted the man was no longer around. It was strictly Assassin and it's Master that stood before her. "Perhaps I should put an end to this." As the words left her mouth a javelin embedded itself into the ground right beside Alex. While she absorbed the rain of arrows, the soldiers had closed in on her. Cavalry maneuvered around behind her as swordsmen drew near.

Even with Assassin's impressive speed, could it keep it's Master safe from so many attackers? Of course, it was not just her troops. She would fight as well. Even if she could not match Assassin's speed she could still force the beast's hand. As such she bolted forward with incredible speed, far short of what Assassin could display but far beyond anything it's Master could hope to counter. Even if the woman could create spells that threatened her, she need only strike at her before such a spell could be cast. And, of course, when Assassin inevitably intervened she'd keep the creature company so that her warriors can fight uncontested. There was yet another tug on Jun's mana reserves, similar to when she used her mana burst. Her ability to observe the battlefield, to predict Assassin's movements, meant that even with the beast's speed she could still respond.

Assassin
Fire singed onto Assassin. Even though she could not feel the fire, she definitely saw it growing onto Saber. Thankfully, before any damage was done, Assassin disappeared and reappeared, slightly closer to Alexandria. She had already killed the soldiers that were surprised the sudden appearance of Assassin, but that wasn't the point.

An order was received from Master to Servant, through the bond they shared through the contract, Assassin followed it through. Things were getting out of hand, and Alexandria shall not be the one to die from the slimy dog's mistakes. It was a mistake fighting the conqueror of red to begin with. In her life, there was no battle or war in Assassin's life. She had never fought or lead any kind of army into another kingdom. She only had a tale of tragedy that lead to a story of happiness. Plus, she should not of tested her luck to begin with, she was an Assassin. One of the weaker classes right beside Caster. The only reason they got this far was because of how powerful Alexandria was currently.

Deciding the follow through, she decided to make a rush towards Alexandria in full speed. Assassin could tell that Saber was approaching, somehow noticing her no matter how fast she went. The dog would not be deterred from following the order. While Saber could follow how fast she was, could she withstand out fast Assassin's attacks were? Within not in a millisecond, thousands of sludge like tentacles appeared to sweep at Saber. Granted knowing her skill, Saber could probably deal with these tendrils of vile sludge, but that allowed Assassin the distance she needed.

Assassin disabled her reality marble. Even if this reality marble was rebuilt by Alexandria, it was still technically Assassin's to begin with. Saber's army was teleported randomly into the collapsing crypt, and Saber was still at her original spot. Dorian wasn't here, but Assassin didn't really care about him currently. When she finally reached Alexandria, the scenery changed around her as they were no longer in the collapsing crypt. All that was around her was the apartment Alexandria inhabited. Deciding that it was no longer needed to be materialized, Assassin disappeared.

They already knew this was going to be a war of vagabonds and problem children, but this was outstripping even their greatest expectations. Or rather, she was outstripping their greatest expectations. The powerful and necessary mutt that was calling itself Alexandria.

Haha. No matter how long they spent planning this, it was inevitable that a spanner would end up in the works somewhere, right?

No matter.

All that was really necessary was that diet-Akasha that she held in her head. So long as her heart kept pumping blood to that precious little brain of hers, they could punish, maim and inhibit her however they wished; And that was an easy enough task to accomplish when dealing with archaic, Magecraft dependant types like her. Hell, they might even have had an opportunity to kick up some dust between Atlas and the Clocktower while they were at it. That sort of chaos was always handy, especially in situations like this.

The only question was exactly how they should go about it, huh?

Ah, screw it, they could take a break first.

...
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

Dorian's phone vibrated in his pocket and a flush of messages, no longer blockaded by Assassin's Reality Marble, flooded in.

"Hey. Report time."

"Hello?"

"Helloooooooo?"

One Missed Call.

"Hey, hey, I know that you're the Senior and everything, but I'm your Boss right now."

"So stop ignoring me."

"I KNOW that phone works just fine."

Two Missed Calls.

"Your big sister is going to hear all about this, you know. Do you stiffs have a punishment for insubordination?"

Three missed calls.

"Ah, fine, whatever. I'll assume you're just busy."

"But if you miss the next deadline there's going to be trouble."

"New orders from the top. Apparently, they've done enough investigation on their end."

"So they've switched gears over to Kill on Sight."

"The Masters, I mean."

"Personally I'd prefer that you bring them in for questioning, but it's up to you whose orders you follow."

"They specifically mentioned that some Atlas upstart and a Magus Killer wannabe had gone and gotten mixed up in this."

"Probably real troublesome. Imagine if they had something like his Origin Rounds. It'd be big trouble for you, right?"

"But again, up to you. Keep pressing. Get back to me if you've found anything good. Yada yada."

"Looking forward to hearing from you at midday. Sharp."
...
And then, after the dust settled and plots were planned, the sun rose over the city of London as if it was any other day. The Tombs sat closed to the public, and the area surrounding was cordoned off as police buzzed around it. The Overseer that had made it his base had long since moved on, now sitting somewhere comfortably out of harm's way.

Not a single tear was shed at the death of the red-headed thug or investigator.

Somewhere, a mastermind worse a relaxed smile and somewhere else a salary woman went about her daily routine.

But most importantly, five phones came to life with a merry buzz and their inboxes grew one message larger.

Dorian Barthomeloi- Timeskips Are a Drag
Damn it. What a pain...

Dorian was never in a situation like this. First, he used his strongest spell and his own ally dispersed it for some reason. Ok, not that big of a problem. He could think of something else. The spell Alexandria used seemed to be of greater magnitude than his own and she probably had a reason to absorb the mini-sun. But the second thing that happened was truly unexpected. Somehow he was engulfed in light and the strong sound of an explosion polluted his ears. No, that was not the truly unexpected thing. But the fact that he was teleported in an apartment soemwhere with only Caster standing in front of him sure was.

He had a few scratches and light burns because of the explosion. It could have been worse had he not completely reinforced his body. The wounds slowly began to heal, courtesy of his current enhanced regeneration (among other things). At the very least that told him one thing: Caster didn't want to kill him... yet. If he did, the Servant could have done so the moment he was teleported there. Unless he was too weak to do so, but Dorian doubted that...not entirely, though.

"Sorry for taking you away from all the fun, but I have some questions for you, Magus. I hope you don't mind answering them."

Information gathering, huh? Or is it merely a disguised threat? Maybe both...

Before he could reply, Dorian could feel his phone vibrate multiple times. He sighed, as he could probably guess who was calling him. That woman sure was persistent. For some reason he always got in contact with such women. Was it fate?

"Since you were able to teleport me here, that means one out of two things: you secretly planted a spell on my body before you left the Catacombs, or you were monitoring us and had a spell strong enough to bypass Assassin's Reality Marble. But from what little I have seen of your magecraft, your power stands in words. As such, I would have even heard you whisper any specific spell towards myself. Thus, I incline to belive it was the latter. I will not mind answering your questions, but I have two conditions: one is to let me see the situation of the fight between Assassin and Saber, and the other is to...let me check my phone." He replied, simingly composed as usual.

Releasing the white-haired magus, Caster took a step back, studying the composed man with mild amusement. He operated like a soldier—quick to analyze and deal with unexpected situations. It was a personality he could appreciate, especially since it wasted less time.

“But of course! The power of God is not in his weapons, but the spreading of his words, after all.”

That was his response to the magus’s assessment of his magic. Grinning widely, Caster strolled back to his desk and poured himself another cup of beer from the bottle with his free hand.

“You can relax, you know. I am a Servant of white robes, after all. I try not to kill God’s humans if I can help it. Besides, my Master has forbidden it—even given the prize your death would bring.”

Verdant eyes met the dull grey ones.

“I’d rather us be friends.”

He poured a cup for the Magus as well. Though, whether or not the human accepted it was his choice.

“Regarding your conditions, the second one is fine. The first one, though, wouldn’t be possible, not because I don’t wish to watch my enemies slaughter each other, or share the visage with you, but because I’ve only made one Holy Script at the catacombs—which I used to bring you back here.” He lifted the skull prop in his hand to show it to the white-haired magus. “This is the medium that I used to ‘monitor’ your fight.”

He used it the term ‘monitor’ lightly, since he hadn’t intended to watch the battle between Saber and Assassin that night. The Script’s main function had been to leech the mana-filled air of the catacombs. Certainly it had eyes that could record what it saw, so he wouldn’t miss out on all the entertainment, but if the two parties had decided to leave the catacombs, it was unlikely that the Script would’ve followed. It had only moved because he had taken the reigns.

“On hindsight, I should’ve made more.” Caster shrugged. “While it is easy enough to for me to call the Holy Script back to myself, forcing it back into another Servant’s Noble Phantasm is a different matter altogether. This particular Script wasn’t designed for such a thing.”

Technically, Caster could force his Script back in himself—by draining a hole in the reality marble—but that would take time and energy since he’d have to travel back to the catacombs. He didn’t want to anyway. The chances of his Holy Script being destroyed were higher the longer it stayed within Assassin’s reality marble (unless the witch didn’t actually mind him draining from Assassin’s Noble Phatasm) and Caster wanted to keep the abundant mana it already managed to collect. Caster had seen all he needed to see about his opponents.

“If you’re curious about what happened to your friend, you can always try calling her. If she’s alive, she’d surely go over some details with you. If not…well…it’s easy enough to guess what happened.” Caster smirked, bringing the modern alcohol to his lips. He could taste the cheap quality of the drink but, while the Servant was used to more refined tastes, there wasn’t much he could do about it. Yet. Living the commoner’s lifestyle was something he’d probably have to grow used to anyway—if nothing else than to better understand the Master he’d been partnered with. God had truly dealt for him an interesting hand this time around. “The battle is probably nearing its end anyway—unless of course Assassin and her Master actually want to fight a death battle against Saber.”

Given the information he’d received about Saber’s Noble Phantasm, nothing less than a command seal could get Saber to back down. Caster chuckled, placing the cup back on the desk. Leaving the fight before it had begun had been the right choice.

“He who wins knows when to fight and when not to fight. That’s one of the premises of the Art of War.”

Whether either of his enemies were smart of enough to know when to back down or not though wasn’t his problem.

“While I would like it if you answered my questions, that isn’t the only reason I’ve brought you here.” Face rested on his hands, Caster continued amiably. “I did it to test a theory. I want to know the extent that the Overseers of the war are watching us. Hence why I intend to stage your ‘death’. If Eli receives the three promised command seals, it would mean that they were watching the Saber-Assassin battle, as I suspect, and believe I killed you with the Holy Script I’d left at the catacombs. If he receives one seal, that would mean they know you are alive, but are willing give the point for effort—or at least making things entertaining for these so-called ‘ratings’. If he receives none, it would mean your death wasn’t very important to them and/or they realize that I am attempting to bullsh*t them. Either way, I think it’s in your best interest to lay low for a while. I don’t know what you’ve done to draw their ire, but I doubt you’d want another bounty placed on your head.”

Caster's grin widened and there was mischievous twinkle in the dark-haired Servant’s eye.

“So why not rent a room in this apartment complex? I’ll give you a discounted rate, since Eli seems to like you. The building is under my protection so it should be an adequate defense against other Servants as well. I'll give you time to decide. In the meantime, feel free to check your phone since it seems to be bothering you.”

With morning came the buzzing a of the phone and a new message from the Overseer.

Caster was still seated at his desk, typing away and researching various stocks, when he received it. Eyebrows raised as he read the message, Caster rolled his eyes before texting back 'Details please' and returning to his work. Picking a fight with Assassin and the witch seemed a lot more trouble than it was worth. Especially since Eli wasn't at a level where he could stand up against her or Assassin at the moment.

During the night, 'Johnny''s bank account had grown noticeably larger. Accumulation of wealth had become much easier than it had been in his era due to the various advances in technology.

The morning news was abuzz with excitement about collapsing of the London Tombs, which had occurred the night before. Caster didn't know exactly what happened since he'd stopped watching the battle. However, it was easy enough to assume that Assassin's reality marble had been canceled and the fight had taken place within the catacomb walls itself. With a large vortex capable of swallowing a mini-sun and the army that Saber had summoned, it was little wonder the entirety of the tombs hadn't collapsed. Not to mention the explosions and gas used by a certain army of puppet assassins.

Listening to news being broadcasted from the small T.V. in the kitchen area , Caster shook his head, a wry smile on his lips. From what he'd heard from the Overseer, all rules had been done away with. It would be up to the Servants and Masters themselves what rules they followed. Whether they harmed civilians or not. Whether they tried to minimize damage or not. Whether the secret society of mages was revealed or not.

Tying the 'Blessing of a Man' Script to his hair, Johnny checked his watch. If Eli wasn't up by now, the human had some serious problems.
