Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC chat) - Chapter Four

I am going to give Kaerri a little more time to post before I post again. And don't worry, Sherwood - Mario's miss will be at the worst, a little embarrassing. This is probably the best time in the whole game to roll that 99. I am sure you can imagine many places where it would be worse to have made a roll like that previously in our game. =)

If there is one thing I like about roleplaying Shirley, is that she's never one to pick on a teammate in a mean-spirited fashion. It's like all her years of having bad luck has shown her that it feels bad enough when you goof up, but even worse when someone rubs your nose in it. But on the other hand, it turns into something better, maybe a nice memory or something, when you have someone there who understands and laughs with you about it instead. =)

Things are still in the rough draft stage for me, but as time goes on, I would like to continue to bounce this off of you until we are both in agreement on it.

I'm still rolling the whole retrait thing around in my head. I can't think of any other fair way to provide the needed skills for a second system.

And once again, for everyone's convenience...

Mario's VHT ammunition:
APFSDS x 28/30 rounds (Range: 4 miles. 3D6x10 M.D.)
HEAT x 6/6 rounds (Range: 2.2 miles. 2D6x10 M.D.)
MPAT x 6/6 rounds (Range: 2.2 miles. 2D6x10 M.D. to a 50 foot radius)
Plasma x 6/6 rounds (Range: 1.5 miles. 2D8x10 M.D. to a 25 foot radius and an additional 4D8 M.D. per minute for 1D6+1 minutes)[/QUOTE]

Toph's/Muppet's Ajax munitions:
2/15 Mini Fragmentation 5d6 MDC
8/15 Plasma/Heat 1d6x10 MDC
and 30/30 HEAP 1d4x10 MDC

Elinor's/Bruce Leanne's Valkyrie munitions:
- GU-11 Gun Pod (23/25 bursts)
- two sets (10/10 missiles total) of HEAP SRMs
- one set (5/5 missiles) of Fragmentation SRMs
- one set (15/15 mini-missiles) of HEAP minis

Shirley's/Mack's Valkyrie munitions:
- GU-11 Gun Pod (21/25 bursts)
- 11/15 Plasma/Heat minis (1d6x10 MD, 1 mile)
- 10/10 HEAP SRMs (2d6x10 MD, 5 miles)
- 10/10 HEAP SRMs (2d6x10 MD, 5 miles)
- 11/15 Plasma/Heat minis (1d6x10 MD, 1 mile)

Sherwood Sherwood "All"? =)

I hit this time.....

Also, if you don't want to do a two style game, that is ok with me. I just have that one Navigation skill that I doubled up on by accident that I need to replace. I would like to get the second style, but there are other skills I could go for instead.

While having a second technique would be interesting, there are too many other skills i just have to get.

I do have a question about adding the EW pods to the Ajax. The mecha already comes with a basic electronic warfare ability. What does the pod provide that the Ajax doesn't already have?

Sherwood just haaaaaad to gank it! It was part of his nefarious masterminded plot all along!! Hee hee!

1. By "all" I meant Kaerri hadn't rolled yet for Elinor. =)
2. That's not at all what I'm saying, fella. =) What I'm saying is - I wish I had more fair options to getting your characters the skills you need to purchase a second system. So don't think you're bugging me or anything by asking - I think it's a good idea; I just don't want any of you to have to wait a year from now to be able to enjoy having two systems. =)

Which reminds me...

3. I have a humble correction to offer the non-martial artists among us, if you please? =) Would you consider replacing your use of the word "technique" instead with "system"?

In most martial arts communities, a technique is a single motion or series of motions providing a desired effect. So, a high block, a stepping side kick, a judo ippon (type of throw) are all techniques. Techniques make up a system (also called styles or forms; I stick with the word "systems" because I think it's the clearest word). =)

Put another way, if martial arts were instead, say, cooking... think of techniques as ingredients that make up a recipe. Think of recipes as martial arts systems.

When I hear (see) Psychie and Sherwood talking about adding a technique, I first think, "Oh, they want to see if they can add a move of some kind to their martial arsenal?" This is especially in Toph's case since she practices Jeet Kune Do and has already done so. =)

4. Re: EW Pod vs. ECM hardware on Toph's VFH-10B Ajax. Per the book, T.A.S.C.'s Ajax B-model ECM hardware can overload enemy sensors (just like the Logan's) and that's all it does. The advantage of an EW Pod is the pod provides combat bonuses (similar but not as powerful as say, the R.D.F.'s "Cat's Eye" aircraft). Furthermore, be aware of the VFH-10A model flown by the TacCorp people. Their radar is so advanced it can look straight down! Definitely worth having in my game!

Also, see page 40 in the Macross Saga Sourcebook for special bonuses involving the VF-1S "Special Valkyrie Sensors." It makes the VF-1S really something to look forward to. =)

In other news, since Elinor missed a giant blue force field that everyone else hit, I get to tease her in-game too!

Oh, it is so very hard to be a Games Master... Whatever shall I do? =)

Sorry Kaerri Kaerri I didn't mean to tank your roll. It's just a talent I have!

Regarding the difference between 'technique' and 'system', I'll try to keep it straight from now on.

And just to let you know, I'm still interested in Tai Chi. I like the bonuses I'll be getting for it.

Y'all consider yourselves lucky. I get teased out of game too! ^D^

Since we have the topic of retraining up, I am thinking of replacing my Holistic Medicine when we level up again. My normal Medical Doctor skill is quite high, and I can think that having the Advanced Electronic Warfare skill might come in handy with an EW Pod on my wings.

Hey, Sherwood and Psychie? The entire idea of retraiting is not in the game, folks!

I am looking for ways to help folks get a second martial art system for their characters; the idea of retraiting is just that - an idea. I am open to other ideas. Do you have any?

Again, no changes have been made. =)

Ah. Understood.

The only other idea that could work is to reduce the cost of the new style, making it possible to pick up a new MA system. The danger with that would be people trying to get multiple styles, but it would be easy enough to say that a maximum of just one new style is allowed.
