Personality:
As Leo got older, his ability to get into trouble only escalated with each passing day. While his temper wasn't as bad as it was when he was younger, he did have an attitude problem and would often get into fights because of it. The fights weren't started by him 90% of the time, but he did end them. Because his parents taught him self-control he was always able to stop hitting someone before he went too far. Usually, the fights are because he's protecting someone, the protective trait from his youth carrying over. Leo is still a sweetheart at times, being a great older brother to his sisters and being quite respectful of women because of the women in his own life. Even though he's had very few girlfriends, he knew how to treat every last one of them. Leo can be quite humorous in a snarky sort of way, even sarcastic since that seems to be his family's gimmick. He can also hold a grudge, seeing as he's still holding Ali's lack of support at times over her head.
For some reason, Leo has placed a lot of responsibilities on his own shoulders. Ali thinks it's because he looks up to his father so much and wants to be able to take over when/if he steps down. Leo understands that sometimes he can be immature, but he doesn't want to let his father down and is afraid of being a disappointment. This leads him to often make stupid decisions when he thinks they're good ones. He's never shy about voicing his concerns but will try to do so with others' feelings in mind. Often times he can be seen as a people pleaser, wanting to make sure everyone is comfortable and has the help they need. It's not that he wants everyone to like him, it has more to do with the fact that he doesn't want to end up bored. He noticed that when he ends up bored, he can often do stupid and reckless things and would rather not worry his mother or let down his father.
History:
Much of Leo's childhood was pretty normal in terms of growing up in a mob. He had plenty of cousins to run around with, Thomas becoming his favorite and soon his best friend. His parents were together and happy and he rarely ever saw them arguing or fighting. That is until Conor went away to prison when he was 7 years old. In the beginning, he was very confused as to why his father wasn't sleeping at home or why he couldn't see him for a time. Ali and Seana both tried to explain it to him, but it wasn't until their first visit that he started to understand. It was explained to him that Conor was in prison because he was trying to protect his family but the way he had done so caused him to break the law. Leo started to see him as more of a hero than anything else when it was put that way, something Aliana was grateful for. It did confuse him as to why his grandmother was taking him all the time and not his mom, though he just figured it was because she was taking care of all their businesses. The one day Ali did attend a visit and it became clear as to why she hadn't. Three years went by with his father in prison and without him there to help with his anger issues, Leo had a hard time. His mom was busy and when she tried to make time for him, she was always tired. Granted he had his cousins and pets to keep him company, but he wished he had his parents again. Seana was the only person he had ever told this to, the older woman being his confidant of sorts. When his mom wasn't around or able to keep her eyes open, his grandmother entertained him and helped him with his anger issues.
Leo bore witness to a lot of attacks his mother had been through, the bombing of a party space being the more notable one. He was afraid he was going to lose his mother too and for the next few weeks stayed at her side no matter what. Luckily his mother hadn't argued with him too much on it and let him come with her during all her business deals. It became their way of spending time together whenever she would offer to let him tag along. He didn't understand a lot of what was going on in those businesses but made sure to ask his grandmother questions later. When his father came home, Leo was beyond excited and thought no one would be able to ruin the day for him; until it was kind of ruined. Leo was informed his father wasn't going to be staying with them right away, immediately blaming his mother for it. He didn't quite understand why he was so angry or why he blamed her, but he understood that this wasn't the time to be throwing any kind of tantrums. Even though Ali allowed Conor to stay that night, it wasn't completely satisfying to Leo since he didn't have both parents.
Eventually, his parents started to work on their relationship which was a good thing in his eyes. Instead of spending time with one parent over the other, he had both of them back in their home. They had even decided on having another child, to which Leo made clear it needed to be a boy and not a girl. When they brought home Rhiannon, he was not only shocked because it wasn't the boy he wanted but also because he was now a big brother. He made a promise to his parents and to baby Rhi that he would protect and get his anger under control so he didn't end up in prison-like his father.
When the family moved back to Dublin, Leo started to get into more trouble. His home life wasn't as stable as he wanted and he wasn't processing all of the change in a healthy way at all. After the death of his grandmother and his mother's heart attack, he started acting out even more. In school, he wasn't exactly starting fights because he knew his parents would be pissed if he had, but he was definitely instigating them. He would always argue that when he got into fights he was doing it to protect someone that was being picked on but that wasn't always the case. He needed an outlet and someone suggested he try fixing up cars and started to like it. As far as his education went, he did go to Uni, but it wasn't what he wanted. Really he wanted to join the military with his cousin, but his problem with authority and wanting to help out his mother prevented that so he went to school instead. He's currently in school to get his Master's in Science to be a Mechanical Engineer.
