I've seen shops that have second floors, where there's a room on the first floor that is only accessible from upstairs, and in there was the access to a sewer grate. It's not common, but I couldn't exactly say they installed a door downstairs just for that.

On that topic, while Lucia may have heard of Will, she won't know him, as she never grew up there. She could possibly have passed him by, but I doubt they'll have spoken much.

The strong SOB does get a little boring when you see it everywhere, and having a character who isn't the first option of a hero and isn't exactly a 'good' guy is much more likeable.
