Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

She smiled lightly. "Elena...what are you drawing?" Mira asked, happy that she could speak to someone like her, who probably experienced the same thing she had.

Elena looked up, paling sightly at the sight of the redhead. She was cute.. probably harmless compared to most things here. Still, it scared her how close to home she might truly be.

Instead of being rude though, she smiled at the girl, turning around the book. One page was written and the other was a picture of a raven leading the shorter readhead through the woods.

"H-hi Mira was it? Um.. im just writing what ive been seeing."

"You're a writer too?" She grinned and went through her satchel. "It's in here somewhere...FINALLY!" She pulled out a rather well-used journal, covered in random poems, songs and stories. "You're not the only one."

Elena flinched at the volume raising in Mira's voice then relaxed when she showed the used journal. Shyly, she looked at it with interest. Maybe this girl could relate?

"You are younger than me? I ended up getting a job for writing and art out of high school. It was actually pretty nice. You going to get a job in writing?"

"Yeah, my brother loves my ability, so I want to write all the stories in the world for him. I want to write so people will read and learn that TV and magazines aren't the only interesting things in the world." She rubbed the back of her head. "My brother rescued me from my parents, so now I live with my brother and his boyfriend. They both love reading, so it's easy to live with them." She pushed her glasses up with a finger and tilted her head. "I can't draw, but I can sing."

Elena smiled kindly at her affection towards her brother. Mira seemed very kind. A lot more honest in her intentions than Elena was.

"Well, you can rewrite all the stories in the world maybe?" She jokes lightly.

"I think that's the best reason for writing.. I would illustrate your stories but I don't think I'll be around if this is over." Her voice shrunk at the end with a polite grin and a shrug.

"You will be." She was suddenly serious. "I have a feeling that you will be, Elena. Do not worry." She stared straight into the older girl's eyes and her mouth stayed in a grim line.

Elena's mask of a smile fell for a moment and it took a shaky moment to repair it. She knew Mira had the best of intentions, but it was something she didn't want to hear. Even convincing her of it was frightening.

"I hope you aren't right.. But I'm glad I met you here under these circumstances."

(Sorry, I was eating dinner.)

"I'm glad to have met you Elena." She smiled yet again and drew a pen out of her pocket. She started scribbling in the book, chewing on the end once in awhile and when she finished, she ripped the page out and handed it to Elena. "Keep this, please."

Elena nodded in agreement. She could relate to this girl well enough, even sharing a common interest with Mira. It's was almost nice, had it not been for her concerns of finding someone she knew here.

"Yeah... I'm glad too. It's good to meet another um.. Creative person. "

She received the sheet curiously.

"What's this?"

Rose began to breath normally when the green glow faded from the necklace. She knew the necklace had reacted badly to the energy blast. It caused her pain but she got through it.

Nyr noticed something strange about Rose. Now that the two girls seemed to have found something that they had in common and what they wanted to talk about she walked to the dragon lady to check on her.

" Are you all right, Rose? " she asked when she noticed her having some kind of pain. For a moment she thought that she could do something for her but the daylight suppressed her healing powers too much. " Do you need anything? I may be able to get you something to get better. "

Rose shook her head " No its fine ". She dusted off and looked around feeling something...off. It felt evil it made her shudder. She fixed her hair behind her on her bacj and looked to her mark gently touching the scales.

Elena gently folded the paper and slid it into her new notebook. Her hands shook slightly but she didn't get why. It was fine now, right? None of these people will be here soon enough. She can disappear without worrying anyone. She just had to be smiley now. Act a friend until they are gone. She bit her lip and grinned in an empty way.

"No worries. I will.. I'm going to draw some more as we walk, ok?"

((Dawn, please read my posts more carefully, Ward did react to Nyr falling off his back.))

The gryphon has seen Nyr return with yet another human. Good. That made three, and as of yet nothing more had attacked them since the hoard of spiders from last night. He was glad Nyr had regained some of her energy, but the worried glances he shot her now and again related that he was not entirely convinced of her recovery. Elena was another matter, she seemed aloof and distant and was somehow convinced she had no place here. Even after that wonderful demonstration of her power just now. Ward was still cleaning peach from his feathers. She could not be more wrong in his opinion. And then there was Rose. A very powerful dragon who had her share of secrets. Despite whatever woes each had Ward would not trade his companions for any in the world. They were all brave and true.

Ward decided to stay as a gryphon, the forest was so large now that he could easily lift off and soar about the understory. He enjoyed being able to stretch his wings. Suddenly something burst from the canopy; a butterfly!..the size of a kite. Its random, stuttering flight took it all over the place and Ward, to show off a bit of his flying skill followed it as best he could, twisting and twirling in mid-air, rotating his spine like a cat and catching the wind again as he began to fall. He came close enough to touch the giant insect, but never did. Something glittery came off its wing. Ward turned and snatched it out of mid-air, coming in for a landing amongst his friends. He touched the ground lightly, using a few strong wing-beats to slow his descent. He held it up in one talon to Mira; a butterfly scale, big enough to be an earring. It shimmered a brilliant ocean-blue and iridescent purple in the light of the sun.

"For the newcomer," He said happily, taking care not to look at the shining treasure for too long.

It wasn't long after that they came to their next obstacle...

Before them the path had fallen completely away. Left in its place was a wide canyon and at the bottom flowed an angry torrent of cloudy water.

"It must be raining in the mountains.." Ward offered as he looked down at the violent river.

"There is no way around this, it probably goes on past the forest. We'll have to fly over--" but something cut him off. The loud crash sounded again, echoing off the trees surrounding them. It sounded a third time, and by now Ward had begun to guess.

"Footsteps." He said with a groan. "The footsteps...of a giant. hurry!"

Leia gave a little salute to the new girl that Nyr had brought into their midst.

"Cool, now we're like, the three musketeers." She grinned half-heartedly. "I'm Leia." She said, tipping her hat in a friendly manner. She then regarded both Elena, and Mira. This was totally crazy...then again she did get attacked by giant spiders last night. If it wasn't for rose the dragon she would have been arachnid chow. But what were three ordinary girls supposed to do to save an entire world? wait, ordinary? Didn't Elena pull some seriously weird mojo with that tree? Could she do something like it? No, that was impossible. Leia couldn't do anything. She read other people's creativity, she didn't make things herself. She had no imagination. Man, did these guys pick the wrong human or what?

When Ward stopped Leia poked her head over the side of the ravine and her face went pale.

"F-fly?! Oh no! This girl does not fly places."

(( I understood that, it was a failsafe mechanism for myself sorry. I have a tendency to write too much and get carried away, I wanted to deter the attention from Nyr, she was doing her weakness-shit long enough ))

Nyr heard the thundering sounds of the footsteps but could not yet see the supposed giant. Normally would have opposed the creature but not in this state. She turned at the direction where Ward was heading and readied herself to lift off only to yell painfully as her broken wing first lifted her towards the sky then made she fall hard on the ground.

" Well then... " she panted angrily for her forgetfulness " On foot it is then... "

She started to run as fast as she could while various thoughts were racing in her mind how to deal with this new threat. Unfortunately all of them involved flying which was out of option. Their only hope was now a brilliant idea of one of her companions it seemed.

Rose looked over the canyon and down I to the depths. The sight of all the water made her shudder. Then he mentioned flying and she was the only one who knew she couldn't go full dragon unless someone was in danger or she was pissed off. She felt the rumbling footsteps of the giant and her heart stopped for a moment she gasped...she had once seen a dragon torn in half from a giant...

Elena walked on, continuing to scribble away. She noticed though, that the pages left wasn't shrinking no matter how many she filled up, and the book wasn't expanding either. It's as though it knew what she wanted. When ward began to speak again, she lifted her head and noticed the path leaving them, she had overstepped and there was no purchase beneath her feet to catch, so she fell backwards and scrambled onto level ground.

Like the other girl, Leia of whom she admittedly had been shy to, Elena was not one to fly. When moving to her old home, she passed out on the plane in fear the moment they lifted off.

"Oh.. Fly..? Wait, what do you mean a giant?!" Her voice held fear and child like joy at once.

Saer rose from where he had been crouched on the dusty pathway, absentmindedly rubbing the dirt between of his fingertips as his sapphire gaze swept out across the open grassland. The tremors he had felt in the earth were not too far away, and if he was judging it right, coming closer. But what is it...?

If his memory was correct, there was a deep gorge not too far from where he stood. He hadn't been in this area of the FableWoods for such a long time he could be mistaken, but his gut instinct told him that he was right. Only a fool disregarded one's natural instinct.

A sudden breath of wind gusted against him, rippling the oddly coloured grass like waves in his direction. His long, dark hair danced in the breeze behind him, but his thoughts were not on trying to keep it tamed; on the air was the stench of a giant, and not a friendly one. Well, that answers my question. He was getting a bad feeling about this. He was about to set off in that direction, but he suddenly caught an underlying scent previously masked by the giant's. Humans. What are they doing here? ..And they're not alone.

Following his curiosity and his steadily increasing sense of danger, Saer ran. His long legs carried him swiftly across the grass plains at a steady pace, one he could keep up for a long time without tiring much. He was still several hundred metres away from the rushing water of the gorge, but closing that distance rapidly. He soon entered the forest, but it barely broke his stride, dodging nimbly past any obstructions in his way. But he slowed as he came to the edge of the treeline; he quickly climbed into the branches of a sturdy, twisted tree, crouching there with one hand on the trunk. It was an excellent vantage point; he could see the group now, on the other side of the gorge, and he could clearly hear the footsteps of the giant that he had felt earlier, but he himself was well hidden. Part of him wanted to go out there and join them, help them in stopping the giant, but admittedly it was a small part. Not all of them were quite what they seemed, he knew. So he decided decided to wait, and watch.

Medusa seemed to cross from the ShadowWoods to FableWood in a matter of seconds. Her dark eerie surroundings quickly converting into a light, fairy-filled forest. FableWood had always been like that, changing from one terrain to the next in just a few steps. It was quite mysterious, most entities that lived in FableWood didn't know why or how it happened themselves. There were plenty of mysterious things in the heart of these forests, including giants. Medusa whipped her whole head around when she felt the ground shake beneath her. Though the giant wasn't in sight she knew that's what it was. She had ran into a few other giants in her past, none that were friendly. Giants didn't seem to have a side most of the time, they would attack anyone whether they be good or bad. Hissing a bit she started to run, well, it was more like a quick walk. She could barely run at all, maybe a light jog if she had plenty of energy. Thankfully her snakes moved with her, otherwise she would barely be able to move at all

Mira took the scale and slipped it into her satchel, but her ears perked up at the words 'fly' and 'giant'. "Giants....brilliant." She put a hand to her pale forehead and cursed in many different languages. The young woman finally stopped. "We're not exactly equipped for dealing with giants..." The raging body of water actually looked like a better alternative then the approaching danger.

" United... " Nyr thought in herself as an idea sprout in her mind. Yes, together they would be able to defeat the giant - well to wound it and nature would finish up their work. Knowing that a giant has gotten its name for its enormous size the gaping maw below would still be enough to finish it off. Hopefully...

She turned around and tried to commune with everyone around her.

" We can defeat the monster if we stand together! " she exclaimed " Ward, please lend me your strength! With your swiftness and our combined magic of air might be able to imbalance the giant while Joy and Rose blind it with their fire attacks! If we could just make it fall to its death near the cliffs... " she turned around to address the humans and Eamon " Well that is up to you I think. "

Rose blinked and came back from her memory of a giant. Got a serious face and nodded. She looked to the others and remembered the curse she silently went over to Nyr and whispered to her " I haven't told you guys about the curse "
