Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Banba was running around in circles on all fours by the time the plant had been destroyed and shrunk. She only stopped when the earth shook, the bright light coming from everywhere and nowhere all at once. She stared around, eyes wide with fear and ignorance. Staying like that for a few minutes more, the lizard girl ran straight into the newly formed lake, becoming a fish on impact with the liquid. Giggling silently, she swam around before running straight out of the water again, tackling the prince to the ground. She landed on her back, the prince on top of her, as she wrapped her arms, legs and tail around the man, face set, hair and scaly skin dripping with water.

Foxy noticed no one listened. It's to be expected from a mercenary of the big bad wolf. She thought miserably. I might have to take care of this myself. She sighed and put her sword away and climbed up a newly greened tree to the top of the branches. She sat there, wishing that she didn't have so dark of a past.

Ward helped the prince steady himself. He was injured, and still weak from the ordeal, but the forest itself seemed to be lending him strength. Suddenly he was tackled by Banba, who seemed to be overjoyed at the forest's recovery. there was an awkward moment when he was very still, suddenly he burst out laughing and ruffled Banba's hair.

"Well! I never thought I would see a shape shifter so far from home!"

The gryphon led them all back the way they had come, now unrecognizable as the dark, cursed place they had come through. He made sure each human was mostly in one piece and took extra care to make sure Ashley and her unborn child were comfortable on the way back.

Once they reached the edge of the clearing the horses whinnied and stamped, ready to leave this place and return to the safety of the palace.

Briar must have been keeping track of them because there were several more of the bronze winged horses, most likely animated like the horses from the fountain statue that had brought them here. One it seemed was slightly bigger...just about Leo-sized.

Ward had no doubt that Briar would welcome all of their new allied with open gates, fresh clothes and good food. he couldn't wait.

Shifting into his gryphon form he readied for takeoff.

Leia took a deep breath and scrambled onto the back of her horse, who flapped its bronze wings impatiently.

"I vote we go on the ground next time...or anything but through the air." In truth she couldn't wait to get back. her knees were cut and sore and her ribs hurt from when the plant had grabbed her, but as she looked back she could honestly say that it was a job well-done...and the friends that had helped her do it...They were fantastic.

((oops, I'll edit this post for Banba @Jecklyn ))

"By ground? No way! Flying is so much faster, though, more fun too!" She added, excited for the trip back. She was sore, and never did get a chance to truly rest in the castle when she first arrived. She climbed up on her own bronze steed and offered to share with someone, if they needed it.

Alexander, too was ready to fly, but when he spread his wings to transform, he remembered the tear in them from the plant, and decided to let his wings heal before taxing them too much. He climbed aboard Anya's steed and thanked her for the offer.

Banba followed the group as a young faun, her steps bouncy and light against the ground. When they reached the horses, she gave one last leap into the air, and disappeared in a cloud of mist only to soar out of it as a fist sized bat, flapping furiously around the group as she waited for them to join her in the air. It was obvious the shifter was restless, with excess amounts of energy, despite the battle just fought.

Leo followed the troop back to the clearing with the horses, the while walking he kept giving Banba slight glances because of her behavior with the prince. Though not angry, he would have to give her pointers on behaving around royalty. When the horses arrived he noticed the larger sized horse and made his way to it. He bowed to the mighty steed and ran his paw like hand down its mane. "thank you horse of the sky's, I pray my burden is not to great for you." Climbing on the horse he waited for the rest for their journey.

Elena followed back to where the horses were. She mounted her own and then looked over to Leia with sympathetic but also playful eyes. She kew now of the other girls fear and wouldnt want to exploit it, still she never felt so close to another person that she could goof around with them. She brunette rolled her hips back in preperation and took fingers full of whispy mane, cqlling down to the other.

"Next time we can find a wingless horse if you want, if they even have wingless horses here.." she joked.

"But for now, dont worry. Youcan keep your eyes closed and i wont let you get hurt."

Elena couldnt help but have a new found appreciation for Anya and Leia. Also a bigger one for Ward after his fight. For whatever reason, the vulnerability he showed made it easier to trust the other.

During the Trip back, Ashley found herself fairly comfortable. There was nothing to really complain about. Perhaps now she can go venturing around with this new group. Well, at least until the baby is born. Her Fighting capability may be hindered, but not if she fights at a distance. Once she has the baby, Ashley wasn't sure if Adventuring and Parenting really mixed. She was lucky to have not thrown up or anything. Normally she'd feel nauseous, but she wasn't thank god. What does the next adventure hold for her, she wondered.

Zelnite bursting out a sigh of relief, not knowing what to do next he also followed the group, seeing as he had nothing better to do, he thought that adventures with them would be interesting, especially the gryphon. He continued to run alongside them eager for the next adventure.

Quincy slipped away as they gathered around the prince, transforming and sliding into the pool while they fawned. She joined them quicklyas they moved can the way they came, still in horse form. At the sight of the winged bronze steeds, she paused, nickering nervously. One of the bronze horses whinnied back, tossing its head. Uncertainly, the white mare approached and touched noses. With a bright light, she was the girl once more, rubbing the metal nose affectionately. The transformation didnt phase the horse, so she swung herself onto it, scratching its withers from her perch. It moved back to the others, pracing excitedly.

Leia gave Elena a grateful smile and she even laughed. "Maybe a horse that goes really fast?" She didn't have time to crack a joke however as the horse began galloping to leap skyward. Leia shut her eyes again, but this time she was laughing.

With one movement the horses launched themselves into the air, Ward taking the head to offer a down draft to the horses and make the flight smoother. During the flight ward decided to tell is friends everything. He soared closed to Elena as he began his tale, why the darkness had been able to take him. He told of how he had once been a very greedy creature, caught at an early age by the powers of gold and treasure. He began building a hoard and with each piece that was added he lost a bit more of his once gentle nature. One day an old knight came looking for a cure for his daughters magically-induced blindness. It is well known that a blinding curse can be reversed by rubbing the eyes with the feather of a gryphon. But Ward saw only an enemy coming to his cave. He attacked the knight, orphaned the girl. When he had realized what he had done, and what was the cause he fled. Briar had heard tell of his actions and sent skilled soldiers to deal with him. Instead of killing him however they brought him to the palace.

"I have been serving princess Briar ever since, as penance for my actions." he looked at them with a sad and worried expression. "You must think less of me now...I am not so human as I pretend to be."

By the time they reached the castle the sun had risen fully. The horses circles around the edge of the garden, Ward could see the dawrf's forge house and the fountain basin where the horses had first been brought to life. The gardens stretched farther than he expected, filled with the most beautiful flowers and exotic trees. He should really explore it some time. For now however sleep was gently tugging at his wings and as he landed he stumbled a bit his eyes snapping open at the jolt. He changed back into human form and dusted himself off carefully.

Briar had come to meet them the moment she had spotted them with the brass telescope on her balcony. She rushed down the steps, taking care to lift her elegant dress free from her feet. She wove through hallways and down more stairs, dodging maids, chefs and advisers. Pushing open the double side doors she ran barefoot out into the grounds just as the horses landed. She scanned the faces hopefully, the forest guardian, a new human, a shape-shifter. She was relieved to see them all and the smiles on their faces told her good news. Suddenly their eyes met: The prince had dismounted and was just sending the bronze horse away when he turned. They stood there staring for just a moment before both running forward.

Prince Fior scooped the princess up easily, spinning her around folding her in a long embrace.

Ward watched the pair happily, preening the warm glow in his heart with the knowledge that he had done the right thing.

The servants caught up soon after, bearing fresh fruit and offers of baths, new clothes and rest for all of the heroes that had returned their prince to them. There was to be a ball that evening in honour of their triumph.

Without alerting them Nyr had returned to Branbern once she communed with the spirits of the winds, guilt churning in her stomach. She felt bad for not aiding them directly in their quest to rescue the prince but her old fears got the best of her. When she saw all the new companions joining the party to help them on their journey her old memories kicked in and sought seclusion to isolate her thoughts quickly.

She was worried. The wicked wind of the tormented forest brought ill omens. While everyone was preoccupied with the prince himself she sensed the anguish and the dark warnings of the storm. A great trial was quickly approaching, one that was not laughing matter. He hoped the others to quickly return to the city for she had this message to carry out.

Death was rapidly approaching.

Elena laughed, actually quite loudly when Leia started. It was a sound she hated but was starting to hope she would like. Leia seemed too distracted to be so scared during the take off, making Elena some bit grateful. The girl saved her from her own fears.. it was her pleasure to try to do the same. She even believed she could be good friends with the other girl, despite the circumstances.

Elena watched them fall into line, like travelling geese. The skies were turning warm shades in indication of nights quick approach. She only broke her gaze when Ward started speaking, almost startled by how he got close without her noticing. He told his story. It was like it was out of the pages of a fairytale. Very fitting. She has heard of men corrupted by gold in books before. She has seen them herself but not over gold. Over women, and dollar bills, and old houses they had no reason to still love once they didnt need them. It was a fault though. She realized this quickly. It was a fault but not the essence of the man himself.

"Ward.. I dont distrust you for that. When you were taken over, though i dont know much about magic, you said my name and i think you revealed we were important to you. Maybe the one who broke free isnt the same Ward who abandoned the girl, because if it was, you wouldnt have stopped when you did. I didnt know if the vines would hold you. I was a foot away.. and you stopped yourself. I dont know if im speaking for the others but i hope i am. I trust you with my life."

Upon arriving back to the castle town, she dismounted and found after all the adrenaline wore away, she was exhausted and starving, nearly wobbling on her feet. This coupled with the fact that she was practically covered in dried blood in her hair and on her shoulders made it worse. Before she could speak a word of finding a bed, she watched the princess run barefoot towards them. Her grace combined with child like glee made Elena smile as well, wide because she did not disappoint the Lady, and her prince was home again. Before she might forget, Elena took out her book and drew the princess and the prince reuniting, capturing the look of love in their eyes and the austere glow of their bodies in the night.

(I loved writing this line!!)

After the scene came and passed, assistants of the princess ushered them to bathe, get new clothes, and eat. The bloody, frizzy haired, and starved Elena was more than glad to comply. After dipping in a public bathing room in oranges and golds to scrub her skin clean and organize her curls, she went to choose clothing. Slightly greedy and knowing there was a banquet to celebrate, she picked something to travel in too. Her old clothes were beyond repair, unfortunately.

Elena chose a deep blue and simple gown with long and slim sleeves, pointed at the hand with very little copperish embroidering. The skirt was long and loose, giving room to move. She found a durable leather satchel which strapped over the shoulder and around the hip. It fit her book and pen nicely. Slipping it on, grabbing an apple, and exiting to the gardens again, she decided to await the banquet.

(Woah! I need to work on my writing skills if I'm going to keep up. Still, this was a lot to cover. Love this rp)

Lexi felt herself being nudged, moved, and unnecessarily shook as a moan escaped her lips as she muttered a Scottish curse which soon became a whisper as she blinked hard, avoiding the shards of the forest floor. The earplugs and iPod, was still with her, it's crackling decided to stop as the song continued to blast in her ears. Rising, she walked with the party to their winged horses, silently taking note of the new companions and her missing spear.

Her condition was indescribable. She tried not to think about it as she lazily mounted Ouro with great difficulty and fell asleep on his mane, clutching tightly as wind blew her hair. After they had swiftly arrived, a maid was "assigned" to her who took Lexi to a room where she can continue to sleep properly.

Lexi woke up, yawning and rubbing her eyes, suddenly flinching at the sight of a maid bowing at the foot of the bed before her. She relaxed and raised her arm which showed a different patterned sleeve and she realized someone had changed her out of her previous clothing. Opening her mouth to say something, the maid beat her to it.

"Good morning Miss Rachel" she greeted politely, ignoring the fact that Lexi wasn't paying attention, looking around at the interior of the room and the bed she was in, slightly admiring the golden linen. "Would you like brunch?" she offered.

"Sure, I could use' ome brunch, but I have questions and you can stop bowin' ta me ya know?" she said with a slight pout, her accent croaking as she cleared her throat, noting that "brunch" meant that it was late morning.

"Then I shall answer them before I leave" she said, somehow understanding the accent, finally standing up straight making Lexi able to fully appreciate how kind that face looks as the maid walked over to the curtains and parted them gracefully. Turning back to Lexi, she smiled.

Messing up her hair, she locked eyes with the woman, guessing that she was in her mid twenties. "First, can I have yer name and how do ya know my name?"

"Yes. My name is Anne and I am always properly informed of our guests" she replied.

"Oh, hello Anne. Where am I and what happened ta my other' clothes?" Lexi continued to ask, waving the white sleeve.

"You're in one of the guest rooms of the castle and your clothing is being washed. If you wish to wear them, it will be ready by tomorrow morning" she replied monotonously before her face brightened. "And before I could forget, there will be a ball this evening for your success. Surely you wouldn't want to wear those, would you Miss? A few maids have suggested a proper attire that you can change to after you're finish eating"

"I can change myself right?" Lexi asked unsurely, uncomfortable at the thought of someone changing for her.

Anne gave a small laugh before replying. "Oh yes Miss Rachel, you can certainly do so if you wish. Now, I will fetch the food. You are hungry are you not?"

"Yes, please do that" she replied after her stomach complained and Anne nodded, silently leaving the room after she curtsied. A few minutes later, she came back, as expected, with a tray of the things Lexi coincidentally liked. She munched it down as Anne excused herself, promising to check up on Lexi afterwards.

Licking the last bits from her finger, she flung herself out the bed, energetic as ever despite the terrifying experience she had been through the previous night. She admired her clothing and wondered if she could keep it for herself before walking to door and grinning at Anne who was just about to enter.

"Alright Miss Rachel, the room is right this way" she instructed, opening the door wide for Lexi enter as three other maids greeted her.

"Hello!" they said in unison. "I'm Mary. This is Antoine, and this is Julie" one of them said before making way for Lexi to look at the "suitable" dresses. To or to not Lexi's horror, they were all white like wedding dresses.

"Is something wrong?" Anne asked, noticing her look.

"Don't you think I would look like a bride?" Lexi asked. "Maybe you could find me something... green?"

The women hurried to their job, Anne picking new dresses, Antoine and Mary taking away the dresses while Julie hugged Lexi continuously trying to "cheer her up". 'Good grief, looks like royal maids have a soft spot for white-haired 17-year-olds' she thought.

Anne finally brought new green outfits and present it to Lexi who easily picked and changed. They complimented her and she asked for a tour but they were too busy to do it just then so they sent her on her way to wonder about.

Wandering aimlessly through the dark forest, Luness puffed out some smoke from the cigarette that she'd recently lit. In her werecat form, her glowing green and golden eyes scanned the forest around her for anything, or anyone, while she walked on her hind legs in a human-like manner. As usual, the forest was dead quiet and nobody was around. Perhaps it would be a good idea to visit that human world again, since FableWood was beginning to get highly disinteresting to Luness. How was she supposed to have fun scaring people if nobody was around to get scared? Sighing, Luness threw her cigarette on the ground and then stepped on it with her paw, grounding it into the dirt and putting it out. Looking up, she then noticed a portal-pool nearby. Curious as a cat, Luness walked up to the edge of it and cocked her head at it, wondering where it went to.

Hearing a noise behind her, Luness turned around sharply, but saw nothing nearby. Growling, Luness took a cautious step backwards and ended up tripping over a tree root that came out of nowhere. Yelping, she fell backwards and right into the portal-pool. Bright lights flashed all around Luness, temporarily blinding her as she stumbled out of the portal, turning around and then face planting with her lack of proper balance on two legs. Growling in frustration, and still temporarily blinded, Luness got on all fours and stumbled forward in a seemingly drunken haze. Shaking her head and blinking, Luness let out a snarl, unaware that she had just teleported into the palace gardens of Branbern.

Banba flitted around the group as they flew towards the castle. She hadn't been anywhere as populated as that, staying in the fields and forests around FableWood. Still, she landed with the rest, growing into her normal, humanoid form as she touched the ground. When the servants arrived, she bounded towards Leo, jumping at him, only to return as her white furred form upon his shoulder, staring suspiciously at the increased amounts of people.

((I just realised I've never posted a pic of what I envision Banba to look like in her tiny creature form!))

((@Jecklyn Thats is just about exactly what i pictured scurrying around a gigantic lion-man when you first said it. lol))

Leo spurred his flying horse up a little fast to catch up with the front of the group to hear Wards tale. He looked at "My Lord I agree with the young one you have not shown anything that makes me distrust you. Everyone makes mistakes. The princess saw through what you were and knew what you could become, giving you the chance to bring forth that which we see now. A noble, brave and strong leader. And besides, to er is human." He let the conversation settle and watched the ground beneath them as they continued their flight. Soon they were insight of the town. Leo had never seen a town before. He would go to the edges of the forest and view the villages and small homes that the inhabitants of Fablewood had created. They flew over the town and reached the castle, Leo marveled at the garden that stretched underneath them. When the horses had finally landed, Leo exhaled a sigh of relief, he had not known until it was actually upon him, but he did not like flying, and hoped he would never have to do it again. He watched as the Princess came down to great them, then she saw the prince. He watched the love blossom between the two as the prince carried the princess in his arms. Leo's heart swelled seeing so much caring between the two. When the servants arrived, Leo gratefully accepted a large bowl of fruit from a servant. Banba came leaping and bounding to him in her little white form. Smiling, he plucked one of the grapes out of the bowl and offered it to her. Before the servant returned Leo stopped him, "Dear sir, I would like to spend some time in the beautiful gardens if the princess will permit." He had nothing against the beautiful castle and its interior walls, he was sure they were beautiful, but he would much prefer the open skies above his head and the plants and trees of a garden to the stone walls and floors. The spirit residing within him began to glow at the thought of being surrounded by the plants and trees of the forest as well.

@SilverFlight @Jecklyn

Zelnite wakes up looking at an unfamiliar room. "Ugh, must've overslept or something" He says groggily as a maid bows down." Do you require anything? " the Maid says. " Nah, I just need some clothes to change into" The Maid gave a suit to change into and left the room. "So this is the castle huh?" He says as he wears the suit he was given. Then he took an apple from a bowl, grabbed his sword and went to the top of the castle. Taking a deep breath and enjoying the light breeze as he waits for whatever has been planned.

Quincy felt the horse lurch under her, and they were suddenly in the air. They flew swiftly, wind rushing by. She couldnt help but feel uncomfortable, so far from any water. The kelpie liatened silently to Ward, feeling like she was eavesdropping just by hearing it. The flight was short, but felt far too long. Upon landing, Quincy dismounted and occupied herself with stroking the horse absently as the joyful couple was reunited. It made her heart sting, to see two so happy when she couldnt be any longer. A small group of servants bussled toward her, mistaking her for another human. She waved most of them away, requesting a saltwater bath from the one who remained. The look she returned was strange, until Quincy whispered her true species. The maid nodded and lead her away, preparing what was asked. She slipped into the water, feeling the salt seep into her skin and nourish her. It was barely warm, just like she had asked. After a long soak, the kelpie got out, wrapped in a soft towel. The maid had brought forth a soft, blue-green gown. Its short sleeves and loose skirt allowed her skin to breath, while the color made her think of the color of the sea while the sun was high. She slipped it on, admiring the silver embroidery along the top of the bodice and hem of the skirt; an intricate criss cross of vines just on the edge of the fabric. Thanking the maid profusely, Quincy left the chamber, looking for someone familiar. She had to go all the way to the gardens before spotting one of the humans, wearing blue and munching on a piece of fruit. The kelpie raised a hand as she approached. “Hello," She said softly, giving a small smile.

@Bea Delaine

Elena sat watching the flowers and branches sway in a slight breeze, thinking of their adventure. It felt like weeks, no years since she arrived. She felt so new in a way. Taking another bite of a crimson fruit, she heard foot steps towards her. Shyly, she repositioned herself. The girl she saw approaching turned out to be one of whom she had yet to talk to. It was the beautiful one who she believed was called a Kelpy. Her dress reminded her of a stream among the surrounding greenery.

"Hi, um.. Are you excited for the banquet?" She asked nervously but attempting to befriend the other.

After a few seconds of absolute confusion, Luness' vision and mind cleared. Slinking down among the vegetation that she'd just been thrown into from the portal, Luness began sniffing to try and figure out who was near her. The scent of humans hit her almost immediately, and Luness snarled, her ears flattening against her head and her fur sticking up on end. Why were humans here and what were they doing? Quietly moving through the vegetation, Luness soon got close enough to see a small group of both humans and magical beings. What in the world was going on here?

Letting out a low growl, Luness slinked away in the vegetation and from the group. Finding a small clearing in the garden that was away from the eyesight of anyone in that group, Luness sat down indian-style while still in her werecat form, deciding to think over things before she did anything that could be irrational. This was going to be a challenge. She needed to get out of wherever she'd just been teleported to, but she also wanted to have some fun and mess with the humans. They always seemed to be so easily scared. Yet, they'd been with some magical beings and the one that was a large lion humanoid certainly seemed capable in a fight. The last thing Luness wanted was to get caught in the middle of a skirmish that she couldn't handle.

Quincy looked at the human evenly, surveying her reaction to her calmly. “Sorry to disturb you." She bowed her head briefly, not sure how to treat a human who was revered for reasons unknown to her. “I am. It's been a long time since I was invited to a banquet of any kind. This will be my first not held by the tall wood elves." She said, a faintly reminiscent smile on her lips. “What shall you be named?" The kelpie faultered, frowning deeply. “I mean, what is your name? You'll have to excuse me, I haven't spoken often for a long time." She grimaced out of embarrassment, her usually cool skin heating slightly on her cheeks.

Elena quickly noticed the girl was as embarrassed as she. She was still getting used to social situations.

"you aren't bothering me at all.. I'm just not quite sure how to um.. I'm still getting used to beautiful and colorful people here." She answered with a laugh.

"I'm Elena, and you are?"

Ashley kindly took to the Servant's Offers on Bathing and Fresh Clothes. That would be nice after what she had to go through. After a hot bath and slipping on a new dress, the Expecting Mother felt refreshed. She had forgotten how long she was trapped in that wretched forest. But what she knew, she was tired and just wanted to rest. Hopefully she could attend tonight's ball, but who would want to dance with a pregnant lady? If she was too tired, she'd probably be sleeping in one of the guest rooms until it was time to go on another adventure. Her Archery Skills would benefit them. In the meantime, she decided to relax, enjoying the sun while it was still out.

Anya was quiet the whole way back, she said little in response to the gryphons story. 'Everyone has a side of them that they'd prefer others not to see.' She thought to herself 'But the others seem to have said all that needs to be said.' When she saw the union between the prince and the princess she smiled. She liked seeing the love they clearly felt for one another, and almost wished she could find that with someone. She knew, of course, that she never would because love was something that never appealed to her. Anya followed some of the servants to bathe and dress, in the baths she took her sweet time. It had been far too long since her last hot shower, let alone bath. 'How long have we been here, anyway?' She wondered. She had lost track of the days, honestly, but she knew it felt as though she was in the woods for ages after her crash before finally finding the castle.

After her long soak, Anya thought she should dawn a dress that seemed appropriate for a festive banquet, though she wasn't sure what, exactly, was appropriate in this era. She asked a servant after redressing in her dirty clothes if they knew where she may find a fresh set of clothing and a dress, or a place t. The other girl smiled, and lead her to a place from which she could chose clothing. Anya noticed that someone must have come before her, as a couple of others had been taken. Thanking the servant girl as she left, Anya examined the dresses. She didn't usually wear anything like this, even at prom she had worn light pants under her gown. She sighed, and decided to pick two blue dresses, one that she thought she could travel in if was needed, and one more elegant one. Blues usually looked good on her, it gave color to her grey-blue eyes, and didn't make her look faded or washed out because of her blonde hair and fair skin.

She figured she could wear her jeans while she traveled, and then the dress wouldn't bother her so much.

After choosing her clothes, changing, and finding somewhere to keep the others, Anya searched for her friends through the huge castle. She wasn't sure where they'd all gone off to.

Alexander was not used to pampering in the slightest, and would have left if his curiosity hadn't demanded he stay. He followed Ward, mostly, unsure of where to go in this place. His only experience as a human or with humans came from watching travelers such as this band. He did not know how things worked within the city, let alone within such an extravagant castle. One thing he knew about, however, was food.

"Ward, would you like to find food with me? I'm afraid I don't know where it may be..." Alexander said, his dark reddish eyes seemed unsure of his surroundings.
