Exalted... In... Space!

I was thinking that in a setting with planets rather than cities, the scale of exalted goes exponentially up. You can orbitally bombard cities with a decent ship. So why not soulbreakers? They only have miles-worth of radius, so in space they're impractical weapons and most important settlements will have defences against such orbital strikes....

Well the scale IS ridiculous. What, some 90 TRILLION people in the galaxy? Yes, it is. But Solars are just as rare as ever. Though DBs are a dime a dozen, even moreso.

Don't encourage him! Next thing you know, they're breeding six DB Half-Dragons with Lunar charms!

Anyhoo, if the scale is so big and the DBs so common, perhaps solars need to be bumped up. Not difficult, mind you: second ed might leave them on top, and in first ed use Sol-Invictus style charm trees to give them their due.

Although charms should be more effective at scale. Glorious Solar Ship would makea small spaceship, like a shuttle, and the essence 5 one would make a full and proper spaceship.

Thrown would have more essence-bolt style attacks, and archery would speak for itself when someone shoots five times with a charm and an implosion cannon. Melee.. is just fine when you can parry bullets and dice guns at close range, and Martial Arts has always been able to do silly things like fly in space. War would have formation charms for commanding ships.

Incidentally, we need some sort of framework for ship-to-ship combat. Would it be mass combat-style, with each ship being a "unit", or would it be normal combat with a pilot and gunners individually shooting the enemy ship?

They have ship combat rules, eh?

Shouldn't be too hard to adapt. Was it based on oWoD d10 or Exalted?

I was thinking we might need psionics anyway, something like the "Essence Mastery" merits for thaumaturges, but with some sort of special abilities against normal mortals.

I think their ship combat rules are more a d10 adaptation of the d20 SWRPGs ship combat rules.

I've been slowly working on my own Exalted in space conversion.  I call it Exalted: Moebius.

Man, I haven't been here in FOREVER.

Interesting quandry, I'm reading a Star Wars galaxy map, and it says 180,000,000,000 star systems are in the galaxy, (NOT total star count) and 50,000,000 are inhabited, seems a good ratio for Exalted too?

Welcome back, Seiraryu!

Shure, why not? I mean, in the setting planets are like towns are in exalted classic: there are uncounted thousands of them, so numbers should be large on paper, but only a few are detailed (As many as we can manage) because they're the unique or interesting ones.

I see planets as being treated similarly to Star Wars: there's typically only one city worth seeing, so if you like they are literally city-mounts floating in space. Unless the scope is going to be planetside or mortal, the game typically would ignore lesser towns and cities for a given planet.
