Cool. I wasn't sure and didn't want to blunder by not having the bracer. I now have a change to make.

Maybe I'll get another artifact like a Collar of Dawn's Cleansing Light.

Thank you for pointing that out!

Is it okay to roll out a summoning venture for an Elemental before play begins? I'd like to have a bound Thunderbird or Garuda or something that can fly.

Sherwood Sherwood Out of curiosity, what would you like the rest of the party to know about Most Assurant of Three Assemblies? Would we call her Assembly as a short nickname or perhaps know her by a different name?

If we've been acquainted prior to the game start, there'd at least be one question related to the Orichalcum/Demon Gold association if it was noticed. I can only assume the best possible case for what Realm/Bronze attitudes toward an Alchemical would be is similar to how Exigents are treated.

Complicated by the fact that Assurant is from Autochthonia, and the Locust Crusade isn't usually depicted as a friendly visit 😆. I have no idea what the Bureau's official position is on the Great Maker making his triumphant return by hoovering up souls and natural resources, but it's probably not positive. I feel like the Feathered Whale might take a back seat to dealing with that mess, and I definitely don't think the Realm would treat Alchemicals from Autochthonia as Exigents if only due to their scale and clear organization. They're a new nation state with unknown intentions, not one off oddities. You might treat with them like potentially less awful Abyssals from Skullstone or something.

Maybe Assurant popped through the gate alone on a recon mission. Then I agree, just weird exigents.

I had originally thought that she would be an advanced scout, but I can tweak Most Assurant a bit if I need to.

Definitely a complication alright, lol. I know next to nothing about Autochthonia or the Great Maker's agenda but I'm crossing my fingers that our introduction wasn't, "Greetings meatbag, I come in war."

Lol. I may need to make a minor adjustment to keep everyone from going full on murder on me then.

If you're here on a recon mission then Alchemicals are so rare it's likely none of us have heard of you (except maybe my Sidereal) and no one's imagining you're here with an army behind you to devour souls and food, so it's all fine 😄.

Hmm. Then I guess I'll stick with the scout idea then. I just need to figure out what to get for that last Merit, be it an artifact of some kind, or something else entirely.

Sure, I'll allow it. What would you want it for though?

The usual elemental summoning reasons. To ride, to fight, to grant elemental blessings to strengthen a DB resplendent destiny disguise. Nothing special.

Do you have write-ups for these styles?
No one has done Throne Shadow that I've seen. I saw three attempts at VBoS, of which I liked two. I linked one on my character sheet, but I'm worried it's a bit too strong. I'll have to look at the unarmed attack boosting charms to see if it's comparable.

if you mean the sheet formats we put in the character channel, I just did the BB code manually for mine. You're welcome to use quotes/replies to generate a copy of the BB code and fill in whatever details you need for yours.
Thanks I could also use a hand on my artifact weapon

Alright, first big question... is this a primary rated artifact weapon or secondary?

Next would be, what sort of abilities most interest you for your weapon?

Nothing too groundbreaking conceptually or mechanically here, just reskinned Volcano Cutter with some thematic tweaks.

Ishmael
Blue Jade Longfang
Type: Medium Ranged Weapon
Tags: Artifact, Melee, Reaching, Thrown, Balanced
Hearthstone slots: 2
When thrown, Ishmael returns to its wielder at the end of the attack.

When used within short range of a body of water or Burning Water Aspect Anima, this weapon gains the Smashing tag.

Ishmael contains the following evocations:
Whirling Vortex
Spend 2 anima to either thrust Ishmael into the ground or water's surface creating a whirling vortex of water. This vortex is an environmental hazard with stats of 1 damage per round difficulty 4 extending through the range band and lasting a scene. If a character affected by the vortex rolls less than 2 successes they fall prone within the vortex and must make at least difficulty 3 on the roll the following round to regain their footing.

Resonant: The wielder ignores the damage and knockdown effects of vortexes while holding Ishmael.

Tidal Force
Prerequisite: creating a vortex 3 times in past conflicts
The wielder draws Ishmael along the surface of a vortex to absorb it's power into the weapon and removing the hazard from the battlefield. Her next decisive attack deals two dice of damage for each significant enemy or battle group damaged by the vortex. This effect counts for activating the Smashing tag.

Voracious Brine Burial
Prerequisite: Tidal Force, reaching Iconic anima while holding Ishmael three times in past conflicts
All existing vortexes surge and churn, transforming into maelstroms with a damage of 8 per round, difficulty 7 to avoid and difficulty 4 to avoid being knocked prone and 5 to recover from prone. After two of the wielder's turns they become whirlpools (2 damage per round, difficulty 5, 3 for knockdown) and no longer feed Tidal Force. This evocation can be used once per story.

Resonant: The wielder ignores the damage and knockdown effects of maelstroms while holding Ishmael.

I'm cool with this. Props to Rykon Rykon for the idea.

Thanks. Usually customization or homebrew has been daunting enough for me to balance that I generally avoid doing it myself, but these rules seem a bit easier to "color within the lines". Either that or just a mindset change over time I reckon.

This reminds me. At some point, I should write a brief history, both for Sojiro and Aramitama. I'll probably handle that this evening. Then we can work out any other party dynamic questions.

Heads up Tulak has been attacking imperial forces. A few Monks got too zealous with preaching the immaculate philosophy. Also can I take a relationship with a terrestrial god as a secondary merit?

Mars above, this is going to cause some drama. What's our group tolerance for PC conflict? 😆 I don't know how Sojiro feels about the Order, but at the very least attacking Realm troops is likely to go over extremely poorly. There is likely to be some desire to beat some sense into Tulak, but that may be put on hold by the more pressing concern of a giant flying whale attack.
