She inherited her magical abilities from her mother, not gaining full control of them until she was eight years of age, almost getting caught, which is bad considering any form of magic was illegal when she was a child. She became Court Warlock when she was 19, after the last king's son(your character)became the new king, making most forms of magic legal.
