Essence and Conservation of Energy

Does Creation follow conservation of energy? Or at least, does it try to? That means you can't make a charm or artifact that takes one mote to activate and gives you two motes. But what about Essence batteries and Essence collectors? Does essence respiration drain from the surrounding environment? So if you awakened every mortal on the planet would that cause environmental damage? What do the pattern spiders have to say about this?

It doesn't seem to. However overuse of essence is known to make the Loom of Fate go wonky. Essence use and essence users break the rules, and so the more of such happens, the more Fate breaks. This is why when the Fates of large areas are written often those with more than Essence 1 are actively omitted...as they are both harder by far to lay fates one...and tend to break them anyway. While giving the Sidereals and the Pattern Spiders the finger by awakening everyone sounds good...it has potential side effects like tomorrow happening yesterday, and roses smelling blue.

The Wyld is infinite. The Wyld has Essence. The Wyld is connected to Creation.

Creation has infinite Essence.

It might follow Conservation of Energy, but for most intents and purposes, it doesn't matter if it does or not, because there's a shitton of it that can be accessed and manipulated in many, many, many ways.

As Brickwall says, Creation is not a closed system, so the Laws of Thermodynamics cannot apply.

OTOH, I would suggest that within a defined region of Creation, absent the influence of external Essence-wielders, the Terrestrial gods enforce a very similar rule.

Also shown by the sideeffect of Thousand Forge Dragons attacks, where an area can be dried out for a shorter or longer period.
