The going was slow. Nasima needed to stop and rest a few times as they made their way through the east flowing duct works. Ali waited for her patiently, listening to the flurry of footsteps above their heads as the palace guards and staff scrambled about seeking the escaped prisoners. Mahir was surely in a flaming rage by this time. "Can you continue?" Ali asked, concerned that Nasima's strength would give out. He wrapped a gentle arm around her to help her long the rest of the way until the aquaduct reached a t-bone intersection. In the darkness, Ali could not see where each path ended, they merely faded into shadow.
