Active [Eraza / Refara's Sound] Horny Rumours

Siegfried manners please—
  • Unluckily and most misfortunately for Ceylan, Siegfried did not forget anything important, and he unfortunately deemed anything related to Ceylan incredibly important, things which mattered gravely.

    Siegfried nonchalantly nodded, "Yes. Mayhaps it was called that, I would not know," he was blunt and sounded as though he didn't care, "Born from frozen tears and stiff fingertips, the only place I can say I hail from is Vaticinor and though it may reside within this Duchy of Roran you speak of, I only know of Vaticinor. Everything else was not something that mattered, as it was not something I would keep in my heart." There was suddenly more affection in his voice, Siegfried spoke fondly for the moment. "It will be the same with you, perhaps." He'd flash a smile at Ceylan.

    "Oh." Siegfried seemed a bit taken aback but quickly recovered. "If your paths intertwine once more with theirs, I will be there and I will take away their breaths." He'd proclaim. It was Siegfried's poetic way of saying he'll make sure they are dead. Siegfried would never claim to avenge others, but he would fight in the name of someone; as do the knight errants of the books he's read. He didn't have a clear definition of justice yet.

    Siegfried, although he could decipher the body language of animals and other such creatures, was an idiot who struggled to understand facial expressions. He thought that the villagers just looked like that and didn't pay it any mind. He'd keep the door open, waiting and gesturing for Ceylan to come in. Afterward making sure Ceylan had come inside, and walked up ahead of him, Siegfried would make his way toward the woman.

    He smiled at her, "It is a nice day outside, why do you keep yourself confined to this space?" He'd immediately ask. "Well, Lady Hajira, the grey and yellow bird told us that you have confiscated an alicorn from a merchant. I request, with utmost kindness, that you bequeath it to my reverence, Ceylan—" He gestured to Ceylan, "So that I may evaluate if it is truly of the creature it pertains or if it is a pretence for the means of worldly profit. I also pray that you divulge the name and current location of the merchant aforementioned so that I may inquire how and where he had acquired such a sacred item." His smile had faded into a rather stern expression somewhere along the lines. Once more, our nominal knight of [Supernatural] countenance did not elaborate on who he is and why he had any right to request a potentially sacred relic.

Ceylan

Languages: Common | <Beastial> | {Sylvan}

Ceylan was confusion. He also was confused. Both regarding the odd place the knight had apparently come from and about whatever would be the same with him. Deciding to use some of that bishopy wisdom he'd gained, he didn't respond to it and just nodded along.

The next bit was, well, it was 'a thing' as well. The doggo felt mixed, part unhappy due to the casual violence, part happy due to how Siegfried might live up to the name, which meant Ceylan wouldn't have to worry about being kidnapped a 6th or 7th time around. He'd almost lost count. Though mostly just his narrator. “That is a reassuring thought.” He'd eventually settle upon. At the very least he'd not have his legs used as chewing gum all over again.

Reluctantly, Ceylan skipped the line as well. He wanted to mention it being rude, but it seemed like most folk either assumed they were here on more urgent business or that they'd be trouble. He'd not wish to enlighten them it was merely the knight's unaware rudeness. He remained silent as the assistant spoke and Siegfried replied to her. Already feeling a pang of worry at the weird way in which their conversation started.

Hajira

Hearing a question, rather than an introduction, was surely unexpected. “I am here, because this is where I need to be.” She'd give him the simple answer. “Grey and yellow?” From what she could recall, there were no such birds around.

“Apologies for the confusion. I believe it was red and green.” Ceylan would try to stop a misunderstanding at its start.

Hajira would simply nod. “Alicorn? I did confiscate a unicorn horn, if that is what you meant.” She'd confirm it, as her eyes squinted on instinct. “Though, I must ask. Whom are you and why are you inquiring after this information?” Her tone sounded slightly sceptical, if not outright weary of them.

Ceylan was struggling to figure out of he should step in or not. If he'd step in, he might be seen as 'talking over' Siegfried to hide something. If he didn't, things might escalate and get even more confusing. He decided on stepping in. “I can explain.” He'd interrupted. “As said, I am Ceylan, Bishop of the Syncretist Faith. We heard some rumours about the unicorn horn and were concerned with its presence and with how it might've been obtained. I assure you, that is all there.” He spoke with [Preach] in an attempt to talk sooth the growing suspicion towards them.

Even so, Hajira would nod at him, then turn it Siegfried. It seemed she wanted to hear from him directly as well.

Preach – Religion B, Insight B, Empathy B, Connected B [Syncretist Church - Bishop], Persuasion F, Inspire F, Energised F – Character holds a passionate hand-tailored theological speech about faith. Impale all evildoers.
  • Siegfried found Lady Hajira's explanation, or lack thereof, very much sufficient. It was the same explanation he would provide to the very same question if he were to find his place within this world. He'd nod as she repeated his answer, oblivious that she was waiting for elaboration. Fortunately for Siegfried, Ceylan was there to translate.

    Siegfried put his hand to his chest, "I concur, my reverence speaks most candidly," he'd confirm Ceylan's words, "I am I, Siegfried of Vaticinor. I do attest to hearing these rumours and I am indeed concerned with how this supposed 'unicorn horn' has been obtained if it is indeed a legitimate article." Siegfried would further explain, only to add; "If the slaughter of the aforementioned creature was commanded by the merchant deluged in greed or the merchant had commissioned a false relic to deceive his patrons, then I must request that retribution be imparted upon the person aforementioned" He spoke with little tone and less of an expression.

    That quickly changed as he smiled, "Does this suffice, Lady Hajira?"

She would nod, upon being asked if it all sufficed. “It does, though I must admit I have to disappoint. Upon my brief investigation, I could confirm that it was a genuine article. Yet when I went to sent the guards to bring in the merchant for further questioning, he had vanished. Not only that, but the unicorn horn in question has been stolen from my office. Whether it was the merchant himself or a third party that took both the merchant and the unicorn horn alike, I do not know. All I know is that rumours of him selling a Dragon Scale as well had been popping up just before his vanishing.”

A deep sigh escaped her lips. “I would've planned for a more thorough investigation, but the town's resources are limited and it seems the merchant has well and far left this place, if not the nation altogether. Our only clues pointed towards a city in Ryke. A place called Arborhaven. If you wish to continue your search, I would go look for rumours about Unicorn Horns or Dragon Scales there.”

Ceylan

Languages: Common | <Beastial> | {Sylvan}

Ceylan was surprised. “I have been there before.” He'd state. Despite circumstances, his tail was wagging a bit. “It might be good to return there. Thank you, lady Hajira.” He'd state, giving her a brief bow. “Did you learn anything else regarding this merchant?”

Hajira shook her head. “His voice was masculine, but he had his features covered. We figured he might've been a type of Fae that couldn't withstand the sun, though it's more likely he was just hiding himself. His height was fairly average... I think multiple people reporting him having an accent in his Sylvan, though none could state where from. That's about all I know.”

Ceylan would look at Siegfried. Seemingly seeing if the latter had anything else to ask about or to add to the conversation.

You can explain to me why—
  • Siegfried nodded as Lady Hajira gave them the exposition of the current circumstances. "I understand," He'd respond, "theft for wanton and pecuniary profit dishonours morality—" Siegfried turned to Ceylan, momentarily, "If you permit it, Ceylan, I say that we do pursue this foul thief posthaste!" His serious tone of voice was incongruent with his excited expression; a smile accompanied by the twinkling eyes of a child tasting ice cream for the first time.

    It was because these circumstances were like the tales which Siegfried had so often read whilst training and growing up back at Vaticinor. A quest, a villain and righteous heroes who right wrongs and pursue justice! It was exciting to him. He was awfully fond of those tales. "Arborhaven, Ryke." He'd repeat, committing it to memory—although it seemed he needn't do that as Ceylan already knew of the place. He'd tentatively listen to Lady Hajira's description, "Worry not, Lady Hajira; by my honour, we shall seize this vile knave and retrieve his stolen artefacts." Siegfried proclaimed as if it were a fact.

    And as if to blow out a candle, Siegfried's tone starkly changed from solemn valour to a casual familiarity as he addressed Ceylan: "Shall we be off, Ceylan?" he'd asked, his attention diverting from Lady Hajira as if she weren't there at all; they still had a few things to do before they left, "You should eat before departure, perchance we could visit the lake as well." He'd add.

Whilst the knight's way of phrasing it had been peculiar, she would nod as his words. “I must also warn you. We do not know whom obtained these items or for what purpose, but I have enough reason to believe it's someone powerful and that their purpose with them might be rather nefarious.” She decided to give one final warning. “Either way, I'm assuming that would be all?” She'd ask, gesturing for the door. She had more people's complaints, requests and questions to go through for today's tasks.

Ceylan

Languages: Common | <Beastial> | {Sylvan}

Ceylan nodded. “Thank you, madam.” He'd state, as he'd leave the room, presumably with Siegfried in tow. He'd then reply to the knight's question. “Whilst we might not want to linger, I do believe that haste isn't needed either. The merchant will already have hidden in Arborhaven, so any immediate clues will be gone. We'd have to figure out how to find him there anew regardless.” That was a big worry.

On the topic of eating, he nodded. “Right, we should.” He had a bad habit of neglecting his own needs when on a mission, so being reminded of them was a good thing. “I do believe you were going to teach me some rock skipping.” He smiled. They had just a little bit of time to spare to eat and learn some crucial skills.

They'd find some people selling fresh fish dishes near the ocean (it was clearly an ocean and any earlier mention of 'lake' that might've been made was clearly just a joke of how a continent separating ocean was nothing more than a pretty big and salty lake) with some fresh catches, spruced up with some of the See's vegetables and fruits. The smells rather aromatic and appetising. To Ceylan at least. Whether they'd whet Siegfried's palate was another question.

You can explain to me why—
  • Siegfried nodded and followed Ceylan to the door, waiting for the bishop to first leave before closing the door behind him. After all, such was courtesy—if one were to be ignorant of the many people in line and the person waiting to be let in after Siegfried, who had entirely skipped the waiting line. He would feel gravely despondent to find he was being discourteous.

    "Verily," Siegfried would reply as they walked to the ocean's docks. "I will do my utmost best in teaching you how to skip rocks," the end of his tail was practically vibrating in the way that it twitched, "It is my only 'talent' discluding martial prowess and withstanding a heavy bludgeoning. I believe mortals call it 'pride' when you feel content in your uniquities." He'd add in passing, his eyes wandering about the ground they walk on. "We will have to collect some stones by the water's strands." Siegfried would say, already keenly scanning the ground for any suitable stones on the ground around them.

    "Good morning," Siegfried greeted someone at the food stall he'd approached, "Eating is unpleasant," he'd say out loud, "however it is impossible to stave off lassitude without proper sustenance; Ceylan, do you have any particular distastes? You must eat a balanced meal, especially with how often you travel. I am partial to figs, lilacs and asphodels." Siegfried picked up a peach examining it for any signs of decay as he spoke, "Lemons, oranges and peaches aren't as ideal, but nonetheless will suffice." He'd ask Ceylan, believing him to be a better cook than him. Siegfried purposefully overlooked the vegetables, he didn't know it as he assumed he hated the process of consuming it, but he had a particular dislike for vegetables probably because he tended not to cook his food, which was also why he disliked eating meat and thus ignored that too.

    How Siegfried sustained himself on a diet of fruits and flowers was questionable and the answer would sound like nonsense anyway. "So, Ceylan, what will you eat?" Siegfried turned to Ceylan, smiling as he put down the peach.

Ceylan

Languages: Common | <Beastial> | {Sylvan}

Ceylan's tail wagged as well, as if trying to beat-out whatever Siegfried's tail was doing. Who knew rock-skipping could be such an exciting event? “It would indeed be pride.” Thankfully, the good boy had a more Aristotelian take on pride, seeing it as a virtue more than a sin.

That said, nourishment came first. Which immediately raise a question. “Unpleasant? How come?” He asked. “Those are... peculiar choices.” He started to understand why the man thought eating to be unpleasant. He shook his head vehemently at all the options offered. “Hold on. I must insist you try something.”

He stated, as he headed off to a food stand. In a bit, he returned with two bowls and spoons in them. “Careful, it is still a bit hot.” He warned Siegfried, before handing over the bowl.

In it were some white chunks (of a type of fish) in some orange-coloured broth. Its flavour would be wild. The fish itself didn't have the most flavour, slightly salty and chewy, but otherwise mild. Yet the broth had various sweets of fruits, added with a bit of spices and herbs, creating a sweet, yet deep and satisfyingly earthy flavour. A few chunks of what appeared to be mango really sweetened and textured it up, as well as a garnish of fresh herbs and some crispy looking tiny leaves that'd taste slightly acidic. “I've had this only once before, but it's among the best seafood dishes in the See, if not the continent and I'm sure it'll be even better when shared with friends.” He'd state, smiling at Siegfried, tail wagging, eager to see the knight try out some actual food.

Clearly, his heart might spontaneously stop beating as quickly as his tail would stop wagging, if it'd turn out that Siegfried wouldn't even wish to try it or if he'd end up hating it.
