She took note of every injury she had inflicted upon the stranger. The fire bolts had done a number on them and something within the fiery female found it satisfying to see them in pain. There was an unseen hand nudging her to inflict more. The sight of their charred and bloodied flesh brought a wicked grin to Ember's lips and something in her began to unravel and snap slowly like a thick, twisted rope. Ember started to move faster and with more force. Every swing and jab of her sword was executed swiftly and wisely. She moved with such fervor, but the stranger's dodges only caused her to become frustrated. Ember was so concentrated, watching every move of her opponent like a jaguar watching its prey, that she ignored the smoke wafting in the air and the smell of roasting oak trees. She was setting the forest ablaze with her recklessness and didn't give a damn! "Let it all burn," her mind thought, darkly, allowing her to unravel even more. Flashes of her past filtered through her and she growled as she jerked her arm toward the injured stranger. "They will never have me," she vowed in a glower.

She continued to move with the stranger in a tango of death, waiting for her golden moment. She chuckled lowly as the tip of her inferno blade slashed at their abdomen. The lacerated skin gave her a thrill and for a split second, she saw it. Her victory was at her fingertips as she saw her valiant opportunity. She charged at them, swinging her shield across their helmeted head, and plunged her scarlet blade into the stomach of her opponent. The blade disappeared into the soft flesh and sizzled as thick blood met with the flames. Ember flared her nose and breathed in. The rancid stench of sanguine fluid, muscles, and tissue being scorched overpowered the thick clouds of smoke. The wicked grin never left the female's lips, for it only grew wider at the sight of her defeated opponent's life pouring onto her hands. "I've won," she chanted.

Or so she thought... As Ember starred at the reflection of her deranged self; the leash she struggled to keep hold of was on the verge of splitting entirely. Another twist of her wrist and she would completely lose herself. Not a voice in her head begged her to stop, but the sudden grip on her forearm caught her attention and then the fierce shatter of her sword brought Ember back to reality. "Aaah!" Ember cried out in agony. The breaking of her bones was all she could hear over the blazing chaos surrounding them. Her knees buckled, but the firm grip around her neck kept Ember from collapsing. The pain from her arm brought back her sanity and the realization settled in. Gone was the malicious intent to kill and the deranged look on her face. It was, instead, replaced with a flash of horror and guilt. However, it disappeared as soon as it appeared. Ember gritted her teeth and the throbbing in her forearm was unbearable. The pain pulsed like an electric current, flowing throughout her entire body. She breathed harshly and meanwhile, she never took her eyes off of the stranger.

Ember's body, exhausted and in pain, threatened to give up on her. Then the flash of her sisters' faces appeared before her eyes and the spark within Ember ignited one last time. "I can't," she thought weakly. As stoic and stubborn Ember can be, she cared deeply for Silver and Willow. The guilt of letting herself go weighed heavy in her chest, but the determination to return to them lifted her back to her feet... The stranger's grip was firm; however, it seemed weak judging from the wounds Ember inflicted on them. Ember, with her stony glare, still kept her gaze on the reflection of the stranger's tinted visor. She took one deep breath and with all the energy she could muster she brought her knee up in between the stranger's legs in a sharp jerk. As they were stunned, Ember ripped herself away from them and twisted herself behind them. She coiled her uninjured arm around their neck in a tight choke hold and formed her fist in a ball. With a firm clench, a shield formed within seconds and Ember faced Ali. She was shocked to see Markus beside him. "They're both here," she realized. "But then where is..."

Ember tensed but didn't dare to allow her mind to dig any deeper, so she kept the stranger in a vice-like hold. Her injured arm was cradled to her side and she backed away a couple of feet. She finally got the chance to take in her surroundings. Her lips parted in mild shock. "So much for keeping a low profile... What a fucking hypocrite," she scolded herself. She looked back at Ali and Markus and her eyes narrowed themselves in their signature glare. "You will not follow me," she warned, "because if you do. The prick dies." Then with that said, Ember conjured a wall of fire between the two males and herself. She threw the stranger's body over her shoulder in a haste and took off in a sprint. Their blood was still pouring from its wounds, which only made her wince as it soaked her singed clothes. She took off in a familiar route- one that was long and out of the way. Ember wanted to make sure that they wouldn't follow her because if they did... Ember would have no choice but to fulfill her warning.

A powerful sense of dread washed over Shaun as he saw with horror when his grip was shattered from Ember's attack. Whether it was the injuries or the intense fire that kept him from reacting to Ember's chokehold, he couldn't say but there wasn't even an attempt to fight Ember back, his arms just limped there. He looked at his brothers from beneath the visor, his vision was blurred and he could only make out their basic shapes then darkness filled the injured biker's sight. Although blind, the biker's other senses were still there, particularly the sense of sound. "You will not follow me -----" The blazing inferno made it quite difficult to hear. "This prick dies" Oh, that would be regrettable he thought. When the biker's body was picked up and hurled over Ember's shoulder, some blood splattered itself on her because of the sudden jerky motion."I'm coming home, girls..." Good time.. to take a rest. Shaun then promptly passed out.

The sinful biker's healing factor was placed under heavy duty stress, trying to keep him alive with these injuries alone is a difficult task but to actually mend them? That would take days at the least. The arms' looked like they were charred then had the flesh stripped with a cheese grinder, the intestines might as well not exist at all because of how damaged they were, if someone were to look at them they might think it was previously warm stew that had been chilled in a freezer. The short-term paralysis would not only take Shaun's legs but the entire lower half of his body, can't even achieve a full salute. And the skin around the chest resembled toast.

Silver's smile grew wider at Willow's agreement to attend the concert. "Oh it's going to be so much fun!" Her excited expression turned to a sheepish one though at the mention of dishes. "Of course Willow. I'm really sorry about that." She looked away sheepishly and took a sip of her tea. The mood didn't lift at her friend's comment about forgetting. It was something that she understood all too well. There were certain things she wished she never had to remember again.

She wasn't oblivious to the reason Willow quickly changed the subject, but decided not to mention it. She gave herself a mental shake and allowed her earlier excitement to return. "That's a great idea! The prospect of a bet might be just the thing that convinces Ember to join in too!" Silver checked the time and hopped out of her seat. "I'm gonna grab a jacket and head into work. I'll be back in about three hours." She made a point of washing her mug before smiling at Willow and heading for her room.

Before long she was making her way to the door. "See you in a bit," she called back as she stepped outside. She had to hold back a scream of horror at the sight that greeted her. "Willow! Ember's hurt!" She raced to Ember's side, sparing a glance to the person she was carrying with her. From what she could see, he was in even worse shape than her. She did what she could to help them into the house before anyone else saw them.

WillowAIR
"See you then," Willow called from the kitchen in response to Silver heading out. She was still sitting there were Silver had left her, still spacing out with her head in some grey clouds. Hearing how Silver still went out of her way to train with her powers had made Willow feel guilty about how she'd used her own since being free. Frivolous things like blowing something closer when she felt lazy or the occasional tryst above the trees to watch the sun rising or setting when she was in a melancholy mood. She'd avoided using her powers seriously ever since the day Evelyn had died. It was silly, but some part of her actually thought that if she used her power too much now without someone there to drag her back down to Earth she might just fly up into the sky and never look back. Heaven knew she'd dreamed of exactly that before getting out, but she had to stick around for Ember and Silver. Even in death, Evelyn had managed to keep Willow grounded. She really didn't know when to let go, Willow thought with a pained smile.

The sound of metal clattering against tile rang out as the spoon she'd been spinning in the air fell onto the floor. Willow stared at the fell object numbly. Why had it...? She tried to lift the spoon, but the breeze came was barely enough to tickle her skin. Her heartbeat was already beginning to race even before she heard Silver yell. She moved towards the door in a daze. Willow saw Silver standing there in a panic, and she saw Ember struggling to move, and she saw the person Ember was dragging along with her. Her mind had gone blank, like a TV without signal turning to static. She walked up to Ember and pushed back the other girl's hair gently. "Was he alone?"

Markus watched as the fight continued to escalate, he had started to move towards the two to help but stopped a few inches from the fire and raised his hands on reflex when he felt the heat. Markus almost yelled out Shaun's name but caught himself. If only he could help him and Ember, of course, they can heal themselves but with just how serious the injuries were it would take a lot longer than usual. He turned to Ali, his face showing just how concerned he was for the two. "We need to find out where Ember is taking him," Markus said after the two had disappeared through the now burning forest.

He didn't pay much mind to it though, to busy thinking about Ember and Shaun. "Do you have any idea where they might be?" The brunette couldn't focus and really think, which alarmed himself. But his thoughts were running rampant with what could be happening to Shaun. "I didn't explore much so your guess is probably better than mine."

Ali had panicked as the fire grew, trying to choke them out with his powers. But then his attention had turned back to the battle. Shaun had looked fried by Ember's fire attacks and was choking her, trying to end the battle. Ali should have stepped in. He should have just grabbed everyone and left, but in a moment the positions were reversed. Ember ended up dragging Shaun away, a death threat and wall of fire ending the brutal fight.

Ali was terrified! He was freaking out! What was going to happen, this was a almost worst case scenario. Oh God. But before Ali was completely hysterical Markus asked him if he had any ideas of were Ember might be taking Shaun. Ali took a moment to calm down and just began reasoning out loud.

"I went and walked around a neighborhood nearby. I didn't see any of the girls, but it was- Ember's probably taking him to a house there," Ali said before making a horrible realization. "All of the girls are going to be there! That means Shaun's healing factor-"

Ali buried his head in his sleeves and silently shrieked into them. He was trying to rationalize everything. Make a plan or calm down or anything, but his mind was racing and he wasn't ever the best at dealing with these situations.

"What are we going to do?" Ali mumbled into his sleeves.

[div class=tag]outfit[/div] burnt ass clothes [/div] [/div] [/div] [div class=right] [div class=scroll] Ember stumbled over again for the umpteenth time. She yelped as the unconscious body she was lugging around slipped to the ground in an ungraceful heap. Ember's knees wobbled and gave out. She kneeled beside the body, her chest heaving. She winced from the sharp pain that squeezed at her ribcage with her every breath. She knew she shouldn't be placing her body under this much stress, but her need to get back was more important to Ember than her health. Ember looked at her surroundings, especially in the direction from where she came. She could barely see the fire from where she kneeled. All her eyes could capture was the billowing clouds of black smoke reaching for the sky. "Those two better not follow me, or so help me," she thought. There were so many questions Ember wanted to ask, but she knew she shouldn't dig any deeper. At least, for now...
Ember wasn't far from the house. Perhaps another mile, but in her condition, it would take Ember a bit longer than normal. She took a moment to assess her injuries. Besides her ribcage, Ember's forearm was shattered. The bone crushing grip- pun intended -was still fresh in her mind. Her arm was already showing signs of swelling and tenderness. She grimaced at the sight. Next, there was a concussion forming in Ember's skull. She noticed herself swaying in place and a headache pounded away at her brain. Annoyance stirred within the female as she thought back to how she came about this injury... The damage she had done to them was good enough payback. Ember glanced at the injured stranger; pride and guilt swirled in her gut.
Ember, thinking it was high time to get up, moved directly beside the stranger. "Why can't I just kill you and be done with it," she spoke out loud. A whine tugged at her voice. She grabbed their arm and hung it over her shoulders. Using a tree for stability, Ember lifted herself to her feet along with the body. She whimpered as her body protested against the action and her eyes squeezed themselves shut as a wave of dizziness suddenly washed over her. She pressed herself against the tree and stayed still until she was able to gain her bearings. Ember released the breath she was holding and she began to walk in the direction of the house. She huffed. "Damn," she said, in a shallow breath, "you're fucking heavy."
She could see the house coming into view. "Willow," she called out weakly, "Silver..." Ember's feet tried to push themselves to move faster, but the pain throughout her body was making the action impossible. She cried out as her body screamed with protest. Her body was giving up on her. The adrenaline was pouring out of her at a rapid pace. The earth's axis seemed to be tilting from side to side and Ember's vision was starting to blur. She was so focused on keeping herself and the stranger stable, she didn't notice Silver leaving the house nor screaming for Willow. It was when Silver rushed to Ember's side that Ember was able to recognize Silver's voice. Ember's vision cleared momentarily and she saw Silver's face for the first time that day- unscathed and most importantly, safe. Ember's legs finally gave out the moment Silver helped her inside the house. She was left with her and the stranger's body on the wooden floor. Then a cool, gentle touch brushed against Ember's bloodied and ash-sprinkled hair brought her attention to the person beside her: Willow. She managed to register Willow's question and a grave look masked over the pained grimace. Ember nodded in response.
Ember took in both of the girls. The worry on their faces looked priceless, and Ember would have mocked them for it. However, Ember was struggling to keep her eyes open and the world was slowly fading into black. With one last glance at Silver and Willow, a vow echoed in her mind. "They will never have them." ---------Shortly after the break out---------
In a dimly lit room, sat two individuals. One was the manifestation of Pride itself, the other a mere man. The room only had one light source and it was squarely focused on the being who harbored great pride, the man sat in shadows. The obscured figure spoke first."The elementals have escaped." A rough voice formulated those words, the sinner accepted them."How? Was your security so weak that you could not even contain the very things you yourselves created?" Mocking wasn't usual for this sinner but this social blade was typically held for those that were deemed worthy of insult."Our security detail did not expec--" Before the figure could explain the situation, the prideful being exploded into laughter followed maniacal cackling which filled the small room that was occupied by the two."Well, well, wellll...." A small chuckle escaped before the manifestation spoke again."Since when was the institute blinded by prideful arrogance? We feared your theatrics because we believed them to be real and yet these girls had looked past them, I can only imagine the damage we would've caused if we had dispelled the illusion first." The cloaked man gave a dismissive grunt."That was their one and only chance to escape... Yours too because now.. Nobody is ever leaving this institute again, of that you could be assured." There was no negative change of tone in the man's voice, instead it became more assertive."But... there is a proposition for you and the others." The sinful creature raised an eyebrow."Bring them back." Those three words broke something within the sin. The hand belonging to the sin passed over its' face into its' blonde hair. A twisted grin contorted itself on the sin's face. The two persons shared a look, the sin needn't speak to confirm the answer that would be given, in kind the man merely replied with a nod.

Shaun left the room. Wandering the hallways was uncharacteristic of him but that wasn't the most unsettling thing about him today, that malevolent smirk emanated an aura of fear. After pacing the corridors for half an hour, the sinful being entered into a bathroom. It clasped the edges of the sink and gazed into the oval opening at the bottom then looked into the mirror. The blonde sinner's freighting smirk repulsed even its' owner.

CRACK

The reflecting glass was shattered by Shaun's fist. In one of the shards that remained affixed to the wall housed the sinner's eyeball, the pupil went from smaller than a dot to larger than the sun. A sickening realization consumed him. Shaun had no wish to kill the girls but the sadistic pleasure of hearing their screams, watching their bodies twist and turn in pain, the hopelessness in their souls that was what his cruel side wanted. That single epiphany caused a wave of revulsion in him, to the point of vomiting in the sink. They say to betray a proud man is to slice his throat, that statement appears to be true and it hurts the man more than anyone thought. Shaun decided to bury this side and never let it see the light of day.

------ The Present ------

Shaun had returned to consciousness. Instantly his ears were assaulted by a yell. That voice belonged to no one other than Silver, the considered leader of the group. The cloying compassion in it would make him spill his guts if he wasn't so weak. Unfortunately his sight hadn't returned so he found no reason to move his head but the silver lining in this is that the helmet was still rested on his head. Then it dawned on him, even with the adrenaline still hot in his veins the pain was unbearable which only meant one answer... Willow was near. When I wished to be surrounded by 'friends' when I'm at the threshold of death, I did not mean it like this. He thought. What are they going to do with me? It won't matter because if they let me live, that will be their last mistake! Their sweet crie--- No! Rather break my own neck than let loose on them. Shaun had calmed himself before the chittering animal inside him gave him away. Faking unconsciousness should be easy. At least that was his hope.

WillowAIR
Willow let out a heavy breath filled with the mettle and steel she'd been prepared to use to wage war with. When she raised her eyes again there were the beginnings of tears along the edges, but her smile shone bright as the sun. "Thank God," she whispered. She gently rubbed Ember's head and said to the gone girl, "You did well. Rest now." Willow rubbed her eyes dry and tapped a damp knuckle against Shaun's helmet. He was as gone as Ember. "Don't scare me like that," she said to the familiar helmeted stranger. "Silver," Willow stood back up, "do what you can for them both. I've got to go." She took one last look at the non-understanding Silver and the beaten and bruised Ember and walked out the door.

Just a second ago Willow had thought that she'd be walking out that door and have to fight and kill to protect her family. The relief that filled her at being wrong - this time, her own voice whispered from somewhere deep inside that she could ignore right now - made her feel lightheaded. She spotted smoke, a lot of smoke, rising from the forest not that far off. That must have been where Shaun and Ember had gone at it. She should do something about that. Willow was almost skipping across the grass as she walked away from the house, in part due to her sudden shift in mood and in part because the air spiraling around her grew more noticeable as the distance between herself and Shaun grew. Finally the wind took her and she flew just above the treetops towards the smoke and flame.

It should be worth saying that Willow did not find it particularly strange that Ember and Shaun had been in such bad condition after meeting. Shaun had that kind of personality, and Ember... well she would have responded in kind. Things might have escalated a little far, but they both had a healing factor. It wasn't like they were going to die. Actually, since Ember had dragged Shaun back, that meant he had lost to her. That would be quite the blow to that asshole's pride, he might actually die. Willow allowed herself a chuckle at that. Shaun had never been Willow's favorite person, but he was still a part of those she considered her family. And he'd managed to get out. She was happy.

The stinging smoke had made her eyes water, is what Willow would have said if asked why she was crying as she came to a stop floating above the burning trees. She spread her arms and then brought them to her chest and then brought them up to the sky. The leaves of not-yet ignited trees throughout the forest turned around as winds were pulled towards the blaze, quickly feeding it into an inferno. In truth, all that Willow was thinking was to suck the flames into the sky where there would be nothing to fuel it. What actually happened was that she'd pulled wind into the flames, which grew hotter and raged stronger. The center of the inferno swirled and rose into a column of fire that did seem intent on burning the sky. Sweat formed on Willow's skin even from fifty feet away, she could feel the heat forcing her back. The flames might have gotten stronger, but the wind was keeping the flames from spreading outwards onto any more of the forest at least. She just had to keep it up until the fire burned through the trees it had already gotten to. At the very least she'd succeeded in blowing the smoke away.

Silver kept a hold of Ember as she fell, trying to prevent the landing from being too painful on her overexerted body. She didn't know exactly what had happened, but that would have to wait until the two in front of her were out of critical danger. She looked up to stop Willow from leaving, but was too late and simply caught sight of the door shutting after he friend. Fine, she'd add that to the list of things to come back to later.

She quickly ran to the kitchen and returned with a bowl of water. Once back, she did her best to lay the two out side by side with the bowl between them. Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, she kneeled in front of the bowl. She'd learned through experience that it would take almost all of her concentration to heal to people at once. If it weren't for how serious their injuries were, she'd help them one at a time. She couldn't take that risk now though. She carefully removed the stranger's helmet, and froze in place.

"Shaun?" Her voice was an odd mix between joy, confusion, and horror as she asked. She shook her head forcefully. "Okay, so now I have three things to come back to when after you two are safe."

She centered herself once more before calling the water from the bowl into each of her hands. Once it was there, she focused on the healing property posessed by all water and watched as it began to glow. She took another breath before exhaling as she placed one of her hands on each of her patient's foreheads.

She'd have to pinpoint the worse damage to repair first, because it was unlikely she'd be able to heal everything. She hummed quietly as she worked, using the song to keep her grounded and her focus sharp. She began with Ember's shattered forearm and Shaun's internal injuries. When those were better she moved on to Shaun's arms and Ember's ribs. She was almost done with Embers concussion and Shaun's chest when the fatigue started. She pushed through it, determined to finish what she was currently working on. Sweat was pouring down her face and her breath was labored as she put the water back in the bowl.

"There," she whispered. "You. You should. Be okay now." She leaned on her hands as she regained her breath. "Thank goodness you both got back here." She gently pushed the hair out of both of their faces as she waited for either Willow to return, or one of them to wake up.

As soon as Ali had buried his face into his arms he pushed his own feelings aside. "It's going to be okay." He reassured, gently squeezing the other's arms with his hands, "Even though all of the girls will be there, Shaun will still heal." It was true but made his anxiousness rise at the fact he wouldn't be able to heal as fast. At Ali's question, he ran over the facts in his head. Both Ember and Shaun were severely injured, Ember probably took them both to the girl's house. The fire in front of them had died down but was still impassable unless they went around it, which wasn't much of a walk luckily since the edges of the wall had extinguished.

"What we are going to do." He said finally, "Is find them. both of them were bleeding and they had to of left some kind of trail." He stated, of course, he didn't think it would lead all the way to their house, but it was the only idea that seemed the best in his head. "From the trail, I'm sure we can at least guess where she was walking to." He didn't know how they were going to get Shaun back, hopefully without confrontation of the other two girls(He'd gladly punch Ember)

[div class=tag]outfit[/div] same burnt ass clothes but with blood on them [/div] [/div] [/div] [div class=right] [div class=scroll] She felt like she was floating; her body was weightless and everything around her seemed still and calm. Paranoia scratched the nerves along the back of her mind and traveled down her spine in a slow, eerie manner. The female stirred in her place and her face scrunched up. She moaned in discomfort. The small voices inside her head whispered to her. They grew louder and louder until finally, she awoke. Her eyes fluttered open and she found herself lying in a puddle of water. She slowly sat up in a sitting position and she surveyed her surroundings. It was not a puddle of water, but in fact, the entire floor was flooded in liquid. She looked down at herself. She wore the same clothes from this morning but noticed not a single scratch marred her skin no a bone disfigured. Most of all, she felt no pain. "Something definitely isn't right," Ember spoke as she picked herself off the ground. The water only reached up to her ankles. Ember appeared to be in a place where as far as the eye could see was pitch-black nothingness. She started to walk around, her hands reaching in front of her. There had to be a wall around or something. She called out Silver and Willow's name but was met with silence.
"Ember!" A voice echoed from the distance and it caused Ember to tense. Goosebumps formed down her arms, shoulders tensed, and her voice hitched in her throat. The voice, who haunted her in her slumber, called out again, but this time louder. Ember spun around in the direction of the voice and her eyes squinted as a silhouette of a person came into view. The figure was far away, but Ember could never forget those golden waves of hair even if she tried. The disgruntled female allowed a smile to stretch across her face and she began to run towards the earth elemental in a sprint. A ghost of a smile appeared on Evelyn's lips and she stretched out her hand for Ember. Every time Ember seemed to get within arm's distance, Evelyn would slip through her fingertips. She would then disappear and appear further than before. The smile on Ember's face had shrunken, and desperation overcame her. She continued to run after Evelyn and once she was within arm's reach, Ember threw herself at the earth elemental. Her hand reached out for her, but the moment Ember's finger grazed upon a lock of Evelyn's hair, she sank in the water.
Ember stared incredulously where Evelyn disappeared and she fell to her knees. Her hands frantically swished through the water as if she could fish Evelyn out. Ember whimpered Evelyn's name and she felt the sting of tears in her eyes. She tightly squeezed them shut and cried from the top of her lungs. "Where did you go? Why did you have to go!" Tears dripped into the water and the overwhelming sense of guilt weighed heavy in her chest. Then unexpectedly, Evelyn replied. "I'm right here, Ember." The moment Ember opened her eyes she was met with a ghoul in the form of Evelyn swimming in the water. Ember didn't get the chance to scream as ghoul's hand shot out and latched onto Ember, dragging her under the water.
Ember struggled beneath the water and only felt herself sink further and further. The fire elemental couldn't swim and her worst fear was literally suffocating her. Ember's hands reached frantically for the surface. She looked down at her feet, only to face an abyss of darkness. Panic grew and suddenly Evelyn appeared before Ember. Her eyes widen at the sight of her. Evelyn's skin was a sickly pale color while her cheeks were sunken hollow and her eyes lifeless. She swam with blood surrounding her; it's source coming from the wound that brought upon her death that night. Ember desperately tried to swim away, but her body felt frozen in place. Evelyn's bony fingers grasped either side of Ember's face and she revolted at the cold touch. "Why did you leave me, Ember," the ghoul asked, her voice grew angrier by the second. Ember whimpered and struggled to break from her hold. The ghoul's hold only became tighter and it was getting harder for Ember to hold her breath. "It should have been you," it glowered and Ember weakly shook her head in response. The energy to fight was gone. She didn't want to believe it, but deep down in her heart, she knew what the ghoul said was true. "Don't worry," the ghoul began with a twisted grin, "I can fix that." Then she disappeared and Ember was left alone, sinking down the bottomless pit. A trail of bubbles floated above her and Ember could feel her consciousness fading. "Just let go," Evelyn's voice cooed in Ember's ear and so... she did.
Ember suddenly shot up from her lying position and she gasped at the air heavily. She struggled to catch her breath and she looked around her to find she was in the middle of her living room. She found a bowl of water placed beside her and it triggered something within the fire elemental. She cried out, throwing herself away from it. As she scampered backward, she bumped into Shaun unknowingly. She looked back and screamed at the sight of his bloodied body, immediately thinking of Evelyn's from her nightmare. Ember became what she never thought she would be: scared. [/div] [/div] [/div] [/div]

The tapping on Shaun's helmet irritated him a bit, the person doing it being Willow didn't help, she is probably feeling pretty smug right now because he lost to Ember, maybe she hoped that it would wound his pride that could've happened if Shaun was a 12 year old who threw tantrums when something doesn't go his way. The small comfort that Willow gave him was her departure. The pulsating pain diminished but didn't truly go away. Wonder where she is going at a time like this. He would have to ask her for the answer later.

The sound of rushing footsteps and the sloshing water tipped off Shaun about what was going on in the room. Silver was going to heal them. Normally, Silver's healing is a solace however he could only feel disgust coupled with hatred towards himself for being too weak to stop her. Who was she to heal him!?! They betrayed him and his spiritual brethren. Internal insults were going to be thrown at Silver however he stopped, getting angry now is going to serve that Sadism. Silver began the treatment while having your pain alleviated by your former friend would make anyone happy, for Shaun it just soured the mood. Except the treatment felt really good even if Silver was the one doing. While Shaun won't thank Silver for her service, his internal organs will as they could breathe a little easier knowing they stopped looking like they were caught in a bronze bull.

During the treatment, Shaun's sight came back to him evident by him slowly opening up his eyelids. The ceiling was a satisfying view albeit a bit blurred. Where was the black tint though? Oh right, Silver removed his helmet. A groan escaped when Ember bumped into his sore body. Shaun's hands weakly moved towards the helmet on the ground, they slowly coiled around it and pulled it back. He had to lift his head slightly in order for him to put it on."Argghh... Ember.. It's still morning." The prideful man said with a struggle, turning on his side and crossing his arms."Just..a fe... minutes."

Silver waited with baited breath for either of her patients to wake up. The wait was slowly killing her as she sat there in complete silence. She began humming a soft tune as she sat. She'd never been a fan of the quiet. It reminded her too much of her time at the labratory where she would sometimes be forced to stay in a room by herself for hours on end preforming certain tasks with her abilities. It had chipped away at her nerves steadily until she felt sick. In her later years there, she found that humming tunes or making up nonsensical songs actually helped to stave off the emptiness the silence created inside of her. It was something that comforted her, which was something she craved qhile looking over the faces before her. She was sure to feel lost if anything happened to Ember and, even though she hadn't seen him recently, the same could be said about Shaun.

She jumped at Ember's sudden movement. Before she could say anything to her obviously distraught friend, she started scuttling backwards and into Shaun who also woke up. The fear in her expression tugged at Silver's heart. Ember was never scared. The emotion seemed foreign to her.

"Ember." Silver gently placed her hands on either side of her friend's face and turned it to meet her gaze. "It's okay. Everything's alright. You just had a bad dream." She kept her voice in a soft, calming timber as she spoke, hoping to bring Ember out of her own head. "You're safe. You made it home after whatever fight you were in and I was able to heal most of your injuries. You had me worried sick when I saw you outside the house, but you should be back to normal for the most part."

She spared a glance at Shaun, but saw he had simply turned on to his side to face away from them. She let out a relieved sigh now that she knew they were both going to be okay. The only question left was why they were so badly injured to begin with.

This was right, Willow thought as wind swirled and caressed her upraised arms. She could feel every motion of the wind surrounding her. This was her power. She'd almost forgotten how good it felt. The distant skies whispered to her, promising love and freedom if only she would fly away to them. But her mind wasn't listening to their promises right now, she was busy thinking about the boy lying unconscious in the house she'd fled. She wasn't thinking about Shaun himself really, more about what his appearance meant. If Shaun could find them, others would. So the sky was unable to tempt her this time.

Silver had been practicing with her powers. Willow's mind returned to that. She'd avoided using her own powers for too long. She needed to be ready to protect her family. She couldn't let Ember and Silver get taken back to that prison. No matter what. Willow's breathing slowed as she forced the winds around her to still, until she was barely held aloft above the now-released wildfire below. She brought her palms together and then slowly pulled them apart, seeming to struggle to do so, keeping her fingertips barely touching. Willow watched the fire intently, the flames reflected in her uncharacteristically hard gaze.

Nothing seemed to happen right away, and then a small hole appeared in the flames. Willow pulled her hands apart further. The hole grew, a perfect circle where the flames simply died as soon as it reached them. The forest below was revealed, ash and charcoal and half-live trees with blackened bark. Willow's face distorted and her arms began to shake as she grew the circle wider and wider. Finally it swallowed up the last of the flames. The forest was deathly silent in the aftermath of that roaring and crackling inferno Ember had started. The sweat running down Ember's face wasn't from the fire though. She hadn't used her power in this way in a long time, a longer time even since the escape, and never this big. If she just let go and stopped using her power now, she didn't even know what would happen. She probably wouldn't survive at this distance.

She breathed in and out and slowly, carefully brought her hands back together. Willow drifted down to the ground where the flames had burnt, now just trees with charred bark and ash underfoot. She touched a burned tree. It was still alive. It would recover, with time. Silver would like that. Willow's mind saw Silver tending to Ember and Shaun at the house. She sat down in the ash against the tree. Silver would be fine on her own. She could help them heal. And even if... if Shaun wasn't in a good place, Silver would handle that too. Willow didn't want to leave Silver alone with an out-of-action Ember and a potential enemy, but she wasn't going to be the reason for Shaun dying. Not by just being around him at least. If he really was here for the wrong reasons, she'd deal with him, on her own terms. For now she just had to stay away and let Silver handle things. God, she felt just as useless as she'd been a year ago.

[div class=tag]tags[/div] n/a [/div] [/div] [/div] [div class=right] [div class=scroll] Ember could not grasp control of her own body. She shook to her core as her heart hammered against her chest. This feeling washing over her... It was hauntingly familiar to the fire elemental. A thick lump remained lodged in her throat, and it seemed impossible to swallow down. A cool, soft-touch caressed Ember's cheeks, which caused her to flinch. She was met with the worried blue orbs of none other than Silver, who looked as exhausted as Ember did.
Ember placed her trembling hands over Silver's and used her calming touch as a mental anchor. "It's okay. Everything's alright. You just had a bad dream," Silver cooed as Ember, the elemental known for being uncontrollable, was having trouble with herself. "You're safe now..."
Normally, Ember would have grunted and shaken her head at Silver. Had Ember awoken in a different life where she and her friends weren't being hunted by psycho scientists or having to constantly look over their shoulders, she would have indeed considered herself safe. Unfortunately, fate was not so kind to the fire elemental, and she could not even imagine living a life without an inescapable target placed on her back. She couldn't even dream of waking up one morning to find out her disastrous life was just a horrible dream she could shake off and joke about it with her friends.
The unfairness in their lives brought the accustomed flame of anger to blaze within Ember's chest. It replaced the fear and helplessness she previously encountered, and Ember managed to take back the reigns of her body. Ember released a breath and removed Silver's hands from her sooted face. She brought herself into a kneeling position, which her muscles screamed with protest. The wounds Silver mended were still sore and tender, but Ember had felt enough embarrassment from her showcase of vulnerability. Ember wobbled as she brought herself into a stand, which took a hefty amount of energy.
Ember looked around the house she had come to recognize for the past few months. There was not a single detail out of place, except for the puddles of water left on the wooden floor. She turned back to Silver and assessed her. Aside from looking drained, Silver looked to be out of any harm. Ember sighed and her shoulders slumped with relief. She did what she promised back in the woods. "I came back home," she thought with pride. "How long was I out," she asked, her voice a bit raspy from dehydration, "and where the hell is Willow?"
The body lying on the floor beside her caught the brunette's attention. Ember's eyes narrowed at the sleeping male figure. Once she realized who he was, she resisted the urge to step on him. Her suspicions were correct, it only fed the other suspicions that racked at her brain. "Dumbass," she hissed as she nudged Shaun with her foot. "I could have killed your ass."
