Fantasy Element VS Sin

Magic is in everyone, embrace it.
16 years ago there were eight babies that mysteriously vanished during the middle of the night, four females and four males. These eight children were taken to a secret underground lab in which they spent the next 15 years with no contact with the outside world. During those years many experiments were conducted on each one of them. These experiments resulted with each one of them acquiring a special gift, or power.

The girls have the powers of the elements
-Air, Fire, Water and Earth

While the boys have the powers of sins
-Pride, Greed, Rage, and Envy

When they were 'created' the scientists paired each sin with an element, and vice versa, in order to keep the subjects in check. These pairs were known as partners. While fighting against their partner their powers would greatly weaken, making a battle harder. It's because of this that partners tried their best to stay away from each other in a fight.

Growing up in captivity, their childhood was filled with endless injections and tests. For the most part, these had positive results, so much so that when one of the subjects died the scientist's barely batted an eye. Vince had been 14 when a series of injections meant to improve overall physical performance reacted negatively with his gift to duplicate anything he wanted. His ability went haywire and ended up duplicating the drugs without him consciously willinf it to. The cause of death was an overdose. His partner Evelyn never truly got over his death and began working on a way to get them out so no one else would share his fate wouldn't.

A year ago, she found an opportunity and took it, but was only able to get the other girls on board before chaos insued. The staff realized what was happening and decided that recovering some of their lab rats was better than none. Evelyn used her power over Earth to give the other girls enough time to escape. She however, was killed when her jailers concluded that she was too much of a danger to their agenda. The ones she was protecting successfully made it out in the end, but were forced to leave the others behind.

Now the 16 year old boys have been sent by the scientists to recapture their escaped partners. Sounds easy enough... Until some of the partners start falling for each other. What will happen?

Characters
AIR OverconfidentMagi OverconfidentMagi
Willow
Personality: Willow has always filled the mother role for the others. She's always smiling and gentle, willing to listen with infinite patience. She would always be the one to volunteer to go first in any experiment so that the others would be less scared. She was so compliant in fact that it came as a shock that she would escape at all, even given the opportunity to. Despite being so mature and in control in front of the others, she was still just a young girl trying to take on the stress of too many people. She couldn't handle it anymore, and if she hadn't gotten out when she did she might have ended up blowing up at her own family.
Partnered with Pride

FIRE nios nios
Ember
Personality: She's short tempered; this usually caused her a lot of trouble while she was stuck in the underground lab. she would take the most punishments and have more restraints compared to the other girls. she likes to keep to herself, do her own thing, and she doesnt trust easily. she's rather abrasive and blunt with her words. unlike the others, she is hesitant to use her powers and will only use it when necessary. sometimes, she will lose control when her temper gets the best of her, but she's lucky enough to have silver IrisFae IrisFae to put it out or, douse her with water. speaking of which, ember has a fear of large bodies of water and prefers solid, dry land. she often enjoys watching the sunset and jumping among the trees. ember appears as stoic and she'll rarely show her joy. one may usually see her with an annoyed, bored look on her face; expect a lot of eyerolls and clenched fists.
Partnered with Greed

WATER IrisFae IrisFae
Silver
Personality: She loves to sing, dance, and swim. She's a little shy, but only when it comes to herself. She is very intuitive, and always aware of her surroundings. She loves to use her powers, but feels a bit awkward when practicing in front of people. She has a tendency to put others needs ahead of her own even when she probably shouldn't.
Partnered with Rage

PRIDE Worthlessplebian Worthlessplebian
Shaun
Power: Shaun's physical capability is directly correlated to how much confidence and pride he feels towards himself. At the peak of his power, Shaun's physical prowess is unmatched, a punch from a heavy-weight boxer wouldn't even graze him, the rate of healing is so quick that small cuts close up like they weren't even there, outrunning Olympic runners is easier than falling asleep to him. Other than superhuman physicality, Shaun can inspire confidence in others despite his level of confidence in himself.
The cons of pride are that because of its' connection to Shaun's physical ability the less prideful he is, the weaker he becomes. He can become so weak that he could barely function.
Personality: Shaun can be described as very arrogant and prideful but that doesn't mean Shaun acts in a typical arrogant manner, he doesn't put others down nor does he insult them unless of course they deserve it. He values honesty. His cheerful demeanor makes him hard to anger although he could become hotheaded with overconfidence.

GREED underuninterested underuninterested
Markus
Power: To put simply, Markus can take from certain things and gains from it. He can take life from things which can give him abilities. taking from a human or animal would result in him simply getting a longer life and heal him. If he takes from plants he can control them for a time(it depends on how much he takes)
If he takes too much however, he can grow sick and 'leak' the life he had stolen giving it to whatever is around him. It usually takes some of his life as well until he can get better. Markus is also able to give and transfer life to others, which can lead to him growing weak as his abilities were not made for such.
Personality: Markus is a seemingly cold person, at first. He doesn't trust others easily, but if you are able to deal with his front and gain his trust, you'll be able to see that he is very caring and almost like a mom or dad at times. He is the one friend that you can always rely on. He likes reading and gardening, which he can do really well due to his ability.
Partnered with Fire

RAGE GamerKitty205 GamerKitty205
Allison (Ali)
Power: Ali gets power from his and other's negative emotions, especially Rage. That power can either be concentrated into purple energy he can attack with, but this is pretty weak. Alternatively Ali can use the power to increase his physical strength and his speed. However he doesn't like doing this because he says he 'loses' himself. Ali using his powers causes him to become wilder and less conscious of what he is doing.
Personality: Allison is pretty timid and kind. He quite dislikes conflict and would rather compromise or surrender during most conflicts. While he's generally soft-spoken he will quickly speak up to resolve and unnecessary. Despite this he has a personal vendetta against the girls for leaving them behind.

"We need to hurry!" Silver whispered to Evelyn. "If we don't get the boys soon, we'll miss our chance and all be stuck here."

She watched as her friend raised an arm and created a small hole in the wall, just big enough for them to fit through. "You three go ahead, I'll grab the boys and be right behind you." Evelyn pushed her towards the opening before she could even start arguing. She was only a few feet from it when the sound of an alarm froze her in her tracks.

"Shoot. They noticed we aren't in our rooms." Evelyn tried to hide the panic in her voice as the sound of footsteps ran towards them. "Go! I'll be right behind you." Silver felt herself propelled towards the escape but hesitated at it's threshold. Looking back, she was transfixed by Evelyn as she caused the ground itself to open and swallow a portion of guards. The room shook and ceiling tiles cracked, but more came. She found herself wrestling between the thought of escape and assisting her friend, even if she wasn't sure how she could.

She was unable to make out the guards yells over the cacophony that Evelyn's earthquake caused but saw the solemn expressions fall on their faces. She watched in slow motion as one of them calmly unholstered a gun for their hip.

"Evelyn!" The words barely passed her lips before the shot rang out. The room stopped shaking as Evelyn fell limply to the floor. Red began to pool under her, her eyes open and blank.

"No!" The amount of emotion in Silver's scream surprised even herself. Tears ran down her face as she stared down. Raising her arms, she let the emotions roll through her as she stared at the liquid that had given one of her best friends life. She called on the water particles in the air that surrounded the remaining guards and focused. She knew more would be arriving soon, just as she knew that they needed to be long gone before then. Closing her fists, she froze the water she'd called on and watched as the guards stopped advancing.

"I'm sorry,"
she said to the prone form beside her before leaping out of the building. Tears continued to stream down her cheeks as her and the girls ran away, the alarm blaring behind them.

"Something's not right, Silver thought, and as she continued to run she realized what it was. The sound of the alarm wasn't fading.

Silver's eyes opened, but the room was so dark that she couldn't even see the ceiling. She reached over and smacked the alarm on the night stand beside her bed, stopping it before it could wake up the rest of the house. She stood up slowly and made her way to the light switch across the room. Flicking it up, she blinked in the new light. She waited for her eyes to adjust and then looked around her room.

After escaping the institute they were raised in, the girls spent the next four months on the run. The time was spent looking over shoulders and waiting for the other shoe to drop. It was then that they came across the little town of Harper. They had been living here for roughly six months, during which she'd jumped between a few odd jobs before landing one as a barista at a locally owned coffee house. She had used the money earned to help afford the place they were currently staying at and was proud to finally have a true room; she had even taken the time and effort to customize it to her liking. The walls were a light sky blue that matched her bed comforter exactly. The floor was carpeted with a fuzzy material that was a deep and rich blue; it reminded her of the ocean. Furniture wise she had silver light fixture that hung in the center of her room, a dresser and a desk on the side opposite her closet, and her bed and nightstand that were adjacent to it. She walked over to her closet and began sifting through her options.

After a few minutes she decided on wearing a white spaghetti strapped dress over a long sleeved blue shirt. She grabbed her hairbrush from where it sat on her dresser and pulled it through her tangled white hair. Before leaving the room she grabbed her flower hair clip, the only thing she still had from her childhood, and pinned it in her hair.

She walked through the small house and saw that no one was up yet. She took a notepad off the counter, at the same time snatching the pen that sat beside it. After writing a quick note saying that she was going to the forest a few blocks from their house and would be back by eight, she returned the items to where they had been. Smiling, she grabbed her purse and headed out.

Ali looked up at the sign. A quaint sign that said in looping script, "Welcome to Harper!" They were finally there. The town were Silver, Ember and Willow had been hiding. After almost an entire year all of the living elementals and sins were going to be in the same place.

However it wasn't going to exactly be a happy reunion. There mission was recapture their missing counterparts. Their mission was to bring them back to the lab. Ali's mind was brought to that day so long ago.

|Flashback|

"They escaped?" Ali said still in shock, completely appealed by the news.

He bit his tongue stop himself from adding on 'without us'. What was going to happen now? Obviously security was going to be doubled, so their was no chance for them to escape. What was going to happen to them? Would they just be forced to train harder or would they decide that the sins were too much of a liability? Were they going to-

Ali having been half listening to what the scientist had said finally processed the words, "Yes, the elementals of Fire, Water and Air have all escaped."

"What... What happened to Evelyn?"

"She unfortunately perished in the escape attempt."

No... No no no nonononono. That couldn't be. Why hadn't the girls said anything. They could have helped, he could have helped- A storm of negative emotions came from him, nearly enough to make him glow a mavolent purple. Ali refused to believe it was true.

|End|

But it was and it had taken Ali half a year to seem even halfway fine. Now? He wasn't to yell out every unfair fact of life. He wanted to charge in and get this over with. He wanted to just sit and cry because he was fighting against people he had grown up with. But Ali couldn't do any of that. Instead he turned to Markus and Shaun.

"S-so. So what's the plan?" Ali asked. "For fighting the girls of course."

Vrrrrrrooooooooommm

The sound of a motorcycle engine filled the road leading into Harper where the Institute believed the girls where stationed in, the one driving the sleek black motorcycle with yellow streaks was none other than the vaunted Shaun, owner of the sin of Pride. He was dressed in contrasting motorcycle gear, a golden yellow color with black lines running up and down the sleeves and pants. His helmet was similar to the rest of his gear but had a small, black lion's head above the visor.

Shaun wondered where his brothers-in-arms were but he knew they would arrive sooner or later. As he was fast approaching the little town, he spotted a group of 3 standing around a white SUV, Shaun slowed down and drove up behind the vehicle."Hey, you guys okay?" Addressing them with an uplifted tone and cheerfulness. One of guys smacked his lips and replied."Ya see, my buddy's SEWV won't start, could use a hand." The weird accented man replied. Shaun smirked behind his helmet, kicked up his motorcycle's stands and answered the man's question."Alright, get inside and strap in, this should be an easy push for me." The guys laughed at Shaun's boast."Hahahaha, sure thing but two of us should at least help."

Shaun got behind the SUV and the two guys stood shoulder to shoulder with him. As they started to push, Shaun's face adopted a big shit-eating grin. His Pride surged into his muscles as he started to push the vehicle forward. His pushing was so strong, the others couldn't keep up with him."What the..." One of them remarked as Shaun was pushing the SUV on his own. The vehicle's engine roared to life."The SUV was lighter than I thought." He expressed then turned around to meet the awe-inspired eyes of the strangers."Your ride is waiting, gents" The confounded guys snapped out of it and drove off.

Getting back up on his motorcycle, Shaun eventually approached Harper's Welcome sign. Only to find Ali and Markus were there already to his dismay. Ali asked him and Markus a question."Good question, Ali" The biker clad in gold spoke."We have... several options. We could take them down one by one, fight them head on, ambush them while they are together..." Shaun turned to Markus."What's your thoughts on the matter, Mark?"

She woke with a start, sweat trickled down her temple and her breath was heavy. It was the same distant call of her name with the same haunting voice of her. The one named Ember sat up, her back ached from her uncomfortable position. She passed out on her desk again. The desk was pushed at the corner of her temporary room. She says temporary because she's prepared to another run for it in case the laboratory found them. Ember held no sympathy for leaving her meaningless possessions behind. Silver and Willow, however, seemed comfortable and settled in the small town of Harper, but for the past six months, Ember has been cautious and prepared.
Ember rubbed her tired-crusted eyes before she got up from her seat; she was surprised she was even able to sleep. She heard the muffled sound of someone shuffling outside of her room and she sighed. "Silver must be up for work," Ember thought to herself. Ember refused to apply for a job, saying something along the lines of, "That shit is pointless." Plus, Ember hates interacting with others. Ember made her way out of her closet wearing black jeans with a dark green cropped shirt. She wore worn-out on her feet. By the time Ember left her room, Silver had left and there was a note sitting on the counter. She quickly read the note and was surprised it wasn't work-related. "Walking in the woods, huh?"
Ember placed down the note and made her way to the door, but not without unhooking her thick corduroy jacket off the coat rack. "Another day, another perimeter check," she grumbled under her breath before topping her head with a dark-colored baseball camp that had seen better days. She left the house and took off to begin the same routine for the past six months. Ember took off in a run, her boots crunched against the earth. She moved swiftly among trees while staying alert.
Usually, after running perimeters, Ember would walk to Harper's only diner to buy breakfast for her and Willow. She passed by the townspeople who she became very familiar with- not in a I'm-A-Good-Neighbor way though. Ember passed through the small diner's door and was met with worn-out booths and neon signs. Ember took a seat in the bar and nodded her head at the waitress who gave her a smile that sickened her. "The usual, Betty," she stated before the waitress, Betty, could ask what she wanted.

Markus

Markus looked around, inspecting what he could see of the small town with cold, almost annoyed eyes. He held back a scoff, Ali, Shaun, and he had spent months tracking the girls only to find them here. He was a little annoyed, to say the least. The brunette pondered what the others had said, "All of those choices are good. Dealing with them one by one would give us the obvious advantage, but there is always the chance that one or both of the others could end up finding us and surprise us." His mind was quickly working through each idea, and figuring out what could happen.

"Fighting them head-on would surprise them, and since they would be all together it would be taking down 'Three birds with one stone'" He made visible air quotes when he said the phrase. "But they would also have an equal chance to take us down." Markus took a few moments to gather his thoughts on the last idea, "Ambushing them, I would assume we would do it when they are all asleep. It would be simple and easy. But they could have set up alarm systems." He didn't think that they would, but you never know, "Or we could accidentally wake them up and start a fight."

All the options seemed to have equal risk, which he voiced, "It seems that all of those options have about the same risk." Markus scratched his cheek subconsciously, "I think we should take them down one by one if we can, and even if the others ended up joining in, whoever we had chosen to attack would have probably been injured so we wouldn't be fighting them at their best." His face stayed mostly neutral as he spoke, his cold look having changed into one of disinterest. But inside he had grown conflicted. They were hunting the very same people that they grew up with, and while he felt betrayed that they choosen to escape without them, he couldn't bring himself to fully hate Willow, Ember, and Silver.

Silver made her way down the street at a leisurely pace. She had a good forty-five minutes before she planned on being back. It would give her more than enough time to get what she needed done. After that she'd be able to relax a bit before going into work for her shift. The normalcy still felt so surreal to her. Looking around, she took note of the houses full of those in the process of steadily waking. Ordinary, everyday people who made it through their days with understandable degrees of fear and regret.

The thought of recapture could never really be forgotten, but she was positive that focusing on it constantly wouldn't help them. They had escaped physically. Perhaps someday she'd feel free emotionally and mentally as well. Shaking off the thought before unpleasant memories surfaced, she continued on her way.

It wasn't long before Silver broke through the wall of trees. From there, she followed the path for a good five minutes before veering off. She made her way steadily to the small secluded pool of water she used for practicing her abilities. Even though she hoped she would never be in a situation to need her powers, she wasn't naive enough to believe it. She refused to freeze in fear or confusion when the time came; doing so may have dire consiquences for what was left of her small family.

She walked across the surface to its center and took a deep breath. Silver concentrated fully on moving, freezing, heating, and shaping the liquid. Her favorite skill had always been reshaping. She loved making pictures with water and had been spending a good amount of time working on creating a functioning pair of wings out of it. She'd had a couple near successes, but it wasn't reliable enough to depend on for anything important. In a way, the routine she'd created was relaxing. Simply doing it both improved her confidence and lifted her mood. When the time came, she would be ready.

Checking the time, Silver smiled and sang softly as she made her way back to the house.

WillowAIR
The sound of wind chimes slowly began to fill Willow's room, beginning softly but gradually becoming more annoying as light began to fill the room through the open window. Willow was not home.

She'd already been awake for a couple of hours. It wasn't unusual for her. She'd always woken before the others. It gave her precious time to just be alone. That meant a little less now... but she still valued the morning hours before the world started moving for the day. This morning she'd decided to watch the sunrise.

Her nightgown that flapped around her was the same as her, thin and pale. The dark brown hair flew behind her like a waving banner, matching her brown eyes that were closed now. The light that now warmed her body had become blinding to look at. It was at peaceful moments like this that her mind always pulled towards awful thoughts. She was the wind, unable to be touched. She could fly far away and never look back, and no one would ever catch her. If only she could abandoned them... Willow stretched and let out a long yawn. "Evelyn, would you catch me?" The gale raging around Willow stilled, and she dropped out of the sky.

Willow drifted back into her room through the open window lightly as a leaf, her hand touching the button to silence her chiming alarm before her bare feet touched the cool floor. She hummed a half-remembered tune of something she'd probably overheard coming from Silver as she picked through the few pieces of clothing she had come to like, finally deciding on a dress that honestly wasn't far from the nightgown she'd changed out of. It couldn't be helped, she liked clothing that let her feel the wind.

The other girls were already up and out of the house when Willow finally left her room, at least by opening the door and walking through that way, so she simply got herself a cup of water and sat by the counter. The house was silent and empty. There was times when Willow loved the fact that she was away from the labs and truly appreciated this house, but that was usually when Silver and Ember were both here to be loud and fill it with noise. When she was alone though, it felt too big and cold, and that was when she hated it. Willow stared absently into her water. Silver had gotten used to this place. She was the only reason they were all still here. Silver had been the one to decide to go out and get a job and find a more permanent place to live... she probably had even made friends with actual normal people here. Why'd she go out of her way to do all of that, Willow wondered into the abyss in her glass. Wouldn't it be easier to be like Ember and just not care about anything? Willow had gathered possessions and even decorated her room to please Silver, but her heart wasn't really behind it. She imagined she would be with Ember in not caring so much if the whole place burnt to the ground. Maybe that would be for the best, blow away all of the things holding them to this little town. Keep moving, always moving, always free. That would be best.

Willow heard the door open, taking her out of her staring contest with the water. "Welcome home, Silver," she greeted her with a soft smile. "Was your morning rendezvous with your secret boyfriend a pleasant one?" She coyly sipped her water and watched the girl's reaction to her baseless accusation through one eye.

Shaun walked up to and leaned against one of the legs that supported the sign, he folded his arms."Then it's settled." The prideful biker paused, thinking back to the day they had escaped. How could they escape.. How could they not tell us? Shaun's head was filled with these questions since that faithful day, the sting of betrayal still burned in his heart."I'll go on ahead and scout out the town, with any luck one of them are out in the street at least." Letting out a disgruntled sigh. Shaun looked at his fellows, who he considered like brothers; while his biker helmet concealed his face, he was sure that they could tell the doubts that swam in his head. The gold biker was one hundred percent confident that they could capture the elemental girls but the dilemma and doubt of whether this is right or wrong hung over his head like the sword of Damocles.

He shook his head and pushed himself off the sign's leg. Shaun walked towards his bike and got on."When you'll enter the town after me, being inconspicuous would be a must as to not attract the attention of bystanders... or worse the girls." The motorcycle's engine roared to life."I'll contact you guys through my phone, whether it's gonna be a call or a message is up to the situation." Determination oozed out of his voice, as if his previous feelings on the matter disappeared but they were merely buried in the deepest recesses of his mind. With that he revved his bike and sped off into Harper.

----- Harper -----
As he rode through the town, Shaun took note of likely locations that the girls would go to in their daily lives; a coffee house, the diner, the park and other noteworthy places. While he continued to scout the hunting grounds, his thirst grew immense. To sate his need, Shaun circled around then parked his trusty bike on an empty parking space close to Harper's diner. After removing the key from his bike, he walked to a vending machine on the outside of the diner. After having inserted the right amount of currency for a coke, Shaun was frustrated that the machine didn't release the beverage so he slightly banged on the machine with the underside of his fist. The machine beeped and released the can into the compartment below. The can released a nice hiss when cracked open. Shaun moved back to his bike and gently sat on it, lifting the helmet a little bit to drink but to not reveal his identity.

The waitress named Betty was a cheerful character whom Ember tried hard to avoid as much interaction as possible. The middle-aged woman could go on for hours about her three cats who always scratched at her embroidered pillowcases. The woman was so animated and intense, the whole diner could hear her stories whether they liked to or not. Ember dreaded to go to Harper's diner every morning, but the three girls decided during the first few weeks of staying in Harper that Ember was in charge of breakfast and dinner. Ember does not know how this decision came to be but Ember wasn't pleased.
Ember brought her ceramic mug to her lips and sipped at its contents absent-mindedly. Then her eyes bugged out and she grimaced. "Oh shit," she gagged, forcing the liquid in her mouth down her throat. She fell into a coughing fit that she quickly tried to recover from and peered inside the mug. She was met with her own reflection sloshing around the murk brown liquid. The grimace contorting her face stayed in its place as she realized her usual black coffee was cold and stale. Ember placed her mug back on the bar counter and tapped her fingers against it. She contemplated with herself. "No one will notice," she told herself. Ember sighed and looked over both of her shoulders. The diner was semi-full with old and young alike. No one seemed to pay attention to the young disgruntled teenager who was about to do something risky.
Once Ember felt the coast was clear, Ember lifted her mug in her hands once again, closed her eyes, and took in a deep breath. "Focus," she thought to herself, "don't lose your shit again." A steady warmth had begun to surge throughout Ember's body. The sensation spread itself like slow molten lava and Ember was directing it toward her fingertips. Ember's fingertips began to glow a soft amber hue and not long after, steam was swirling from within her mug in transparent ribbons. Then, like a lighter, Ember's flame flickered and died. Ember released the breath she was holding and looked at her surroundings again. Silver and Willow wouldn't be pleased to know she used her powers in a public setting, but Ember was someone who didn't seem to care. Ember brought her mug to her lips for a second time and took a sip. The hot liquid burned as it slid down her throat, but Ember was content with it. "It's still stale as fuck though," she thought as she continued to take another sip anyway.
"Here you go, sweetpea," Betty announced as she placed a large brown paper bag in front of Ember. "I'll see you-"
Ember smacked her money onto the counter before Betty could finish; she took her to-go bag in the process. "Bye," she said monotonously before she hopped off the barstool and exited the diner. She stood outside of the diner and took a second to readjust her baseball cap so that it dipped lower to hide her eyes. Ember tucked the food under her arm while her other hand was stuffed inside her jacket. She proceeded to walk down the same sidewalk she came from. Ember failed to notice the motorcycle and its rider due to the cool wind that blew against her. The wind allowed her hair to billow off her shoulders and a cold chill ran down her spine. "Damn this weather," she cursed as she brought her heated hand to her flushed cheeks.

Ali listened to Markus and Shaun's plans. It seemed like we had come to the conclusion that almost everything works except getting outnumbered split up. So logically they should split up. We'll it sounded a lot stupider like that. The idea was to split up and covertly stake out the town. Provided none of them get spotted (especially by their specific foils) it should work out fine. Ali really hoped he didn't just jinx himself. He waved and uttered a quiet "Bye" to Shaun, watching him drive away. A minute or so later he set off, waving bye to Markus.

Ali pulled on his hood so he would be less recognizable. As he stepped into town her let out a big sigh. Versus the the institute full of practically emotionless scientists, Harper as small as it was, was buzzing with resentment, sadness and of course rage. That was going to be one great thing about being around here. Just being around lots of people makes him more powerful. Ali just hoped it didn't make him glow purple. That would not be covert.

Ali noted where a hotel was incase they needed somewhere to stay for the night and headed to a more residential area. He walked past several houses, hoping to possibly spy on of the girls but no such luck. He paused for a second to look a a small house, but ended up moving on a second later.

Markus

He was quick to notice the unease in Shaun. Markus placed his hand on Shaun's shoulder, giving a (hopefully) comforting squeeze. The brunette knew that they had doubts(Including himself) about if they should capture the others. Markus knew that if they didn't capture them, and instead, possibly join them on the run, they would have to deal with constant paranoia that could slowly wear down their sanity. Markus also knew, that if Ali and Shaun were to run, he wouldn't go with them. He mentally shook his head, clearing his thoughts of what could be and instead on the task at hand.

He let his hand fall back to his side once the male moved. After saying good luck to Shaun and waving goodbye to Ali(Who he had also given a comforting shoulder squeeze) Markus began to make his way into Harper as well. The teen had decided that staying in one area might be the best idea. If he wandered around he might miss one of the girls if she were to pass through a place he had been already. Markus moved around for a few minutes, trying to find a place where he wouldn't look too conspicuous if he was there for a long time. Eventually, he decided on a small cafe. It was mostly empty with a large window showing the streets.

He decided on ordering a simple coffee with just a little cream and made his way to sit in front of the window. Now that he had a good spot to watch, Markus pulled out his phone and pulled up a game. Said game had been on the phone when he got it and he didn't bother with deleting it. He only half paid attention to the game, keeping most of it on the various people who were going through their daily lives, eyes constantly moving from face to face in hopes of seeing either Ember, Willow, or Silver.

Shaun's enjoyment of his chilled beverage would have to be cut short as cold wind tickled his neck and chin like icy fingers. He released a sigh before downing the remainder of the drink. It is quite fortunate that Shaun is properly insulated against the cold, it is something he genuinely hated since childhood. Lowering his helmet so it can rest neatly on his head again, he lifted up his hand then tossed the empty can into the garbage can near the vending machine, being filled with garbage and trash made the can's dunk soundless. Before departing from the brief break, Shaun did a massive stretch with his arms then gave the surroundings a second run through with his eyes. It was then where his eyes widened. A girl with a corduroy jacket, a dark colored baseball hat and black jeans caught his absolute, undivided attention. She also seemed to be carrying a package, likely food from the diner. It wasn't the way she was dressed that caught Shaun's eye but her hair and gait, the familiarity of her reminded him of old memories.

In order to confirm that it was one of the girls, Shaun lept onto his bike, quickly turning it on after which speeding off to make a quick U-turn. Dashing past the girl, Shaun looked at the wing mirror on his bike to confirm that it was one of them. lo and behold, it was the fiery Ember. The confirmation of this suspicion accelerated his heart like a politician found out how to screw normal people harder. Shaun turned the corner then drove to the park. Pulling out his phone, he texted out a message to Markus and Ali.

"Ember found. Walked out of Harper's local diner. Should still be around the area." With the message sent, Shaun revved his motorcycle following a speedy take off back towards the diner.

Silver switched between a variety of songs as she walked down the street. There was something freeing about music that she couldn't find elsewhere. It was a temporary escape from the reality she was trapped in, one she could get lost in for a time when she sang or danced. She ignored the chill in the air as she tossed her arms out to the side and turned in a few circles, to the time of the music pouring out of her. She slowed as she neared the house and knew her singing faltered slightly before she could stop it. She was fully aware that she was the only reason the three of them had stayed in Harper at all; Ember didn't care about the place and Willow would prefer to follow the wind. A part of Silver wanted to move on for their sakes, but she couldn't bring herself to. If they kept running they might never stop, at least here they could make their stand on familiar terrain if needed. It wasn't much, but it was all she could do. She didn't plan on losing another one of her friends if there was any chance she could prevent it.

She shook off the gloomy atmosphere she had created and purposefully skipped up the porch steps. She had only just entered when she heard Willow's greeting. The sound of her voice made her smile widen as she made her way to the kitchen.

"Good morning!" She walked to one of the cabinets and set about with making herself some tea. She nearly dropped the mug in her hand at her friend's next question. She felt her face heat at the simple thought of a morning rendezvous with a secret boyfriend. "Haha, very funny Willow," she said as she went back to her tea. "You know I don't exactly have time for boys. I was just practicing a bit is all. Anyways, do you have any plans today? I have to go into work soon, but I have a short shift, so I was thinking maybe we could all do something fun. I heard from some co-workers that there's going to be a concert in the park this afternoon. Nothing big, just a local band trying to get some experience. Plus there will be a couple food stands and games." She sat across from Willow with her tea and looked over her friend. "Hey, are you alright? You seemed a little, I don't know, distracted when I came in."

Ember kicked at a lonely pine cone, whom she found in the way of her path, in boredom. The woody cone scraped against the reddish brick sidewalk and it skipped ahead of Ember by a couple of feet. The package tucked safely underneath her arm was warm and slightly heavy. She constantly brought her free hand to her mouth to discreetly breathe a small flame of fire and she would press her palm against her cheeks. Ember's hot breath puffed small clouds as they met the cool air; she was like a fire breathing dragon. She continued to curse the cold weather and upon that, the booming sound of a motorcycle engine roared throughout the quiet street. People nearby looked toward the source of the sound. If Ember was timid, she would have jumped at the sudden noise, but Ember was nowhere near frightened.
The motorcycle zipped past Ember, causing a gust of air to whip against her and stop her in her tracks. Ember watched the rider pass by her and as they drove off, Ember lifted her head. Her eyes peeked from beneath the visor of her dark-colored baseball hat and her dark green eyes met with the helmet covered rider in their small rearview mirror. That was when Ember realized she had made a mistake. She tensed; her fist clenched tightly by her side and a glint shone over her eyes. "They're not from here," she concluded in an alerted tone. Ember watched as the motorcycle rounded the corner and then she began to move.
Ember made a dash toward the entrance of an alleyway and maneuvered herself through the twisty maze. Ember ran quickly, but silently. Her feet would echo throughout the alley and who knew who was nearby. Her thoughts ran wild. "A bounty hunter," she wondered as she sharply turned a corner. "Fuck," Ember exclaimed harshly and she kicked an empty can against the wall. Ember knew something like this would happen, anger twisted her insides. Ember continued to run from alley to alley; each one was littered with trash along the ground and there were puddles whom Ember did not want to discover what its contents were made of. Ember tried to control her breathing, and she allowed her anger to pump her legs. "I have to lose them," she strategized. She thought of making a straight run back to the house, but then Ember suddenly stopped. "Silver and Willow," she remembered. Ember leaned against the dirty wall, ignoring the morning dew mixed with dirt dampen her corduroy jacket, and cursed. She removed her hat and wiped the sweat off her forehead, her breath was heavy and her chest burned. She couldn't lead danger right to them. She won't let them get taken, even if that meant getting taken herself. "I'll have to take another route. Lead them away."
Ember stopped near the exit of the last alley; it was right by the cafe Silver worked for. Across from the alley were the forest line and Ember's ticket home. She would have to take that route in order to make it back to the house. Then she'll force the girls to pack their belongings if she has to. Ember looked both ways of the street and checked the alley behind her. No one seemed out of the ordinary, according to Ember. The bounty hunter with the motorcycle was out of sight. She fixed her hat, took a deep breath, and then sprinted across the street. She broke through the forest line and kept running. "Let's see what this prick's got," she thought with malice.

Ali checked his phone. He sighed. Shaun had spotted Ember around the diner, but he was no where near there! At least he didn't think he was. The neighborhood wasn't large, but it would take a while to get through it without using his powers. And he would rather not use them where tons of people could see and blow their cover. Ali scratched his head trying to figure out how to get there fast. There was also the worrying fact that it was Ember. She's paranoid enough to bolt at the sight of anyone odd. Where..... Hmmmm. Wait, if he remembered correctly cutting straight through the forest should get him at least in the area.

Ali turned and began to run through the forest, his hood flying off as he ran. He used just a bit of the negative emotion energy to make himself faster. Then Ali saw someone ahead of him also running, causing him to stop. He locked eyes with Ember. He was panicking, worrying about whether or not he had backup, but it was too late really for caution. So he attacked, sending a wave of purple energy towards Ember.

Shaun's bike roared through the streets as he quickly managed to return to the diner's street, only to find it desolate. Ember couldn't have walked away that fast he thought, his conclusion was she noticed him and in her justified wariness that bordered paranoia, she ran. Shaun paused to speculate what had happened. The most logical conclusion after surveying the surroundings is this: Ember ran through the streets, possibly taking an alley to shorten her path or maybe to lose pursuers but the question now is where would she go? Knowing her, Shaun concluded that she wouldn't go directly to Silver and Willow's residence, assuming the three of them stayed in the same building, so that meant Ember would flee to a location where the advantage was hers. Those two locations are the park and the forest.

Another rev followed by a lightning fast take off. If past Shaun was here now, he'd be furious but since the girls departed without them, he has gotten better control of his emotions, mostly the negative ones like anger, sadness, fear etc. Quickly arriving at the local park, the mistake in his conclusion became evident... There were too many people, too many witnesses and too many casualties while Ember was paranoid, she would never use the bystanders or risk the girls' cover.

Cracking his neck twice, he turned around on the street to make his way towards the forest. On his way to the forest, he ran through a large puddle on the road which stained the lower half of the rider's outfit. After drifting a turn, Shaun had finally made it to the forest or at least the entrance of it. The sprint to enter the forest was so quick, his bike toppled over to the side walk, good thing it was sturdy and the paint was scratch-resistant.

The speed at which Shaun ran was so immense like a yellow phantom was dashing from tree to tree, this boost in speed was because of the pride in hunting down such a worthy prey like Ember, who he considered the strongest of the sisters. He continued in a straight line for a minute then heard the formation and release of an energy wave, the negative emotion variety, his answer was to turn towards the direction of the sound. Ember and Ali came into view after a short sprint, Ali decided to attack Ember but he knew she would retaliate without hesitation. Shaun's leg muscles tightened and he picked up his pace, the branches beneath him were like toothpicks as they got crunched. Whatever happened, Shaun just barreled towards Ember attempting a shoulder tackle to subdue her.

Markus

Markus had only taken his second drink from his coffee when his phone vibrated. Opening the messaging app, he abruptly stood up and sped walked out of the cafe before running to where the dinner was. Obviously she wasn't there, he quickly typed responded to the group chat that Shaun had sent the message in 'Where are you at?'. While he waited for a response, Markus thought about what he had seen on his short trip around the area. There was a park, but that wasn't Embers style.

"Think." He muttered to himself, standing on the sidewalk before deciding that the forest would be a good place to check. After glancing inside Harpers to make sure Ember wasn't in there, He began to make his way to the Forest, taking a small bit of life from each person he passed so that he was able to run consistently. Once he was at the forest's entrance, he jogged over to a tree a bit deeper into the woods. "Sorry about this." He mumbled to it, setting his hand on the bark and watching as the tree began to decay.

Markus took a deep breath and started running, much faster than before now that he had all the tree's life. Said tree was now barely standing as its insides were weak. After a few more moments the tree collapsed, making a large thump sound as it did.

Ember weaved through the trees. The air whistled in her ears. She panted heavily with every breath she took and she pushed herself to her limits. Determination to get away was prominent in her mind. Ember's legs had begun to ache and she felt the pressure in her lungs. For a moment, Ember believed she had lost them, but no later than a few seconds, she heard rapid footsteps following behind her. Then the sound of crackling zipped through the air, getting closer to Ember in unbelievable speed. She spun around sharply just in time to be met with a mass of purple lightning barrelling towards her. Thinking fast, Ember's arm ignited into flames and she swung her arm before her, creating a shield of fire. The purple mass, strikingly familiar to Ember, met with the shield and combusted on contact. Ember's fist clenched tightly as she held herself against the blast and was pushed a couple of feet back. She regained her footing and once it had subsided and the smoke cleared, she was able to get a clear look at her opponent. "Ali," she said, shock flashed before her eyes. The flames on her arm distinguished as she took in one of the boys she had grown up with.
"How," she began to speak, but the roaring engine of a motorcycle making its way to their location interrupted Ember. Not even a second passed before the motorcycle and its rider came into view and not even a second was granted for Ember to react. The motorcycle's rider had hopped off of their bike, using its acceleration as momentum to ram themselves into Ember. The collision hit Ember with such force; her breath was stolen from her lungs. Ember's hat flew off on impact and her package of food rolled away in a heap. Ember was left stunned once her body made contact with the ground and her face contorted with pain. Her head spun and there was an intense ringing in her ears. It was hard to breathe; possibly broken ribs.
"I can't let them win," she reminded herself as the pained voices in her head pleaded for her to stop. However, Ember was too stubborn, and worst of all, she hated to lose. Ember forced herself to recover and she slammed her elbow into the juncture between the person's neck and shoulder- right onto her opponent's collarbone. Then, she brought her legs between them and kicked them away with all her strength. Ember scrambled to her feet and placed some distance between them. There were areas around her body that hurt more than others. No doubt, there were cuts and bruises surely appear the next day. Ember's black jeans and corduroy jacket were smudged with mud and since Ember's hat had flown off, her face was fully exposed.
She stood before Ali and the motorcycle rider, still unaware of who hid behind the helmet. She looked from one to the other and anger flared within her. "Long time, no see, Ali," she tried to speak cooly, but her voice ended in sounding clipped. Ember's green eyes glinted with the anger that swirled insider her and they were alert. "Who's your friend," she asked, moving her attention to the motorcyclist. She glared at them. Ember had so many questions but by the hostile tension among them all, Ember seemed she didn't need the answers.

Normally a kick from Ember wouldn't do much to Shaun as his physical prowess far outmatched hers but the shoulder tackle left him with no time to gain footing so the result was a stumble that lead into his buttocks meeting the forest ground, his back up against the tree. A painful groan was released as Shaun's collarbone was shattered from the elbow strike. He grit his teeth and pulled himself up with the aid of the tree, also using the tree as a crutch. His eyes turned upon Ember with a deathly stare, even though he was in pain, his body did not flinch. With no delay, his collarbone began to sew itself together as if a sewing master was repairing a hole in a tightly knit shirt. The recovery was exceptionally quick and Shaun rotated his arm in response. All the while, never breaking eye contact with Ember.

A cacophony of noise was made by the birds, startled from the conflict that was so far beneath them then the wind's sharp howl signaled the silence. Ember spoke, her questions were entirely directed at Ali although that is understandable as she hasn't yet deduced his identity. Cold sweat dripped down Shaun's forehead, was the heat really that intensive, he thought. The visor's pitch blackness reflected Ember's face back at her and yet Shaun remained silent, even after hearing out all the questions towards Ali. He turned his gaze for a brief moment towards Ali then turned his head left to right to signal not to answer her, the less she knew the better.

The sound of a crashing tree, gave Shaun the opportunity needed to execute his attack. Dashing to Ember like a bullet, it seemed as though he was gonna ram her again but that was all a sleight. His true attack came when he reached inches from her body, he torqued his left shoulder that would've rammed her backwards, his right fist flung itself into her stomach, its' power was amplified by his hip. Ember should count herself luck even if this hit connected because an empowered punch from Shaun who was drunk on Pride would donut a powerlifter with ease but this particular hit was restrained by Shaun as only injuring her was his goal.

Markus heard the commotion the further he got into the forest, his concern growing for the two as he heard more and more noise until he was able to see what was happening. Both Ali and Shaun were in the small clearing with Ember. If he couldn't guess from the sounds, he could definitely see that some fighting had been going on. He had turned to look away from Ember just in time to see Shaun slam his fist into Embers side.

The brunette made his way over to Ali's side, deciding to try and get caught up in what happened. It would help him try to figure out what they should do next if he was able to focus before having to help out. Plus with Shaun and Ember busy for the moment, it was a good chance to ask. "Ali, could you fill me in on what I missed?" He said, giving the other a quick sweep for injures.

Ember noticed the interaction between Ali and the motorcyclist, which only hiked her suspicion. She narrowed her green eyes at the motorcyclist and wondered, "Who could be behind the helmet?" Ember parted her lips to speak, her initial plan was to stall and eventually escape, but the heavy thump of what sounded like a fallen tree echoed throughout the forest. It forced Ember to tear her attention away from the two, which she was too late to realize was her second mistake that morning. Ember furrowed her eyebrows, confused from the sudden sound before pain exploded in her abdomen and washed over her body like an unforgiving tidal wave. She grunted from the impact and stumbled back, almost losing her footing. She clutched her stomach as a means to shield it.
Ember gasped for air and she winced- there was no doubt something wrong with her ribs. With a choke and a cough, Ember spat onto the ground, soaking the fallen leaves and dirt with her blood. She stared at the blood and then at her attacker. "I guess I got my answer," she spoke, her voice hoarse. Ember wiped at her blood-stained lips with her sleeved wrist before taking a fighting stance. She was set on giving the stranger a piece of her mind. "Fuck running away," the voice in her mind exclaimed and with a tight clench of her fists, a fire sparked. It engulfed her balled fists and continued to travel up her arms and onto her shoulders. The flames flickered in contrast to Ember's dark green irises. The rage and intent to win were evident.
Ember surged forward, throwing her weight onto her arm to deliver a crimson bolt toward the stranger; the bolt cut through the air like an arrow shot from a bow. Soon after, Ember began to send one bolt after another, her focus solely on the stranger. Each one flew faster than the other as if in a race to see who could hit their target first. However, some even made their way toward Ali and Markus's direction. With every shot from her arms, Ember could feel her fire wanting to flare up and it threatened to ravage everything, but Ember kept a tight leash on herself. Losing to her ability would cost her greatly and Ember couldn't allow that to happen. Meanwhile, Ember ignored the dull pain throbbing from her chest and she charged. Her fire morphed themselves on her arms as she moved. One arm had formed itself into what may look like a shield while the other continued to be engulfed in flames- her sword. She approached her opponent with ferocity and the choreographed dance of destruction had begun.

Ali after his first attack had stepped back and kind of... Waited for an opening that would end up him getting caught in the crossfire or catching someone in his crossfire. Then Markus came over and asked him what was happening.

"Umm, well I ran into Ember and attacked her, but then Shaun came running in and tackled her. They've been fighting, but Ember isn't aware that she fighting Shaun and hasn't been using her powers," Ali said trying to actually make sense of it all.

Then he saw a flash of fire from Ember. He conjured a shield of rage to protect the few fire balls that were headed towards him and Markus and shot a few attacks of his own to intercept the attacks directed towards Shaun. While the bolts of rage intercepted the fire just fine, some of the fire bounced off of the shield. The fireballs hit a few trees and grass around them.

"Shit. Nevermind... We might want to find a way to put that out." Ali said as he went to stamp out some grass.

Shaun was shocked that Ember still stood, the blow should've been strong enough to KO her but it seems like he held back a bit too much. His guard was completely dropped which allowed some fiery bolts to strike him, the first one landed on his helmet which proved ineffective as its' composition was made to repel heat but the second bolt slammed into his chest while the fire didn't set the leathery outfit ablaze, the heat certainly would give him toasted skin syndrome at best and at worst painful boils. Having finally snapped out of his shock, Shaun raised his arms to block the remaining bolts, leather being naturally resistant to burning held out but instead shrunk around his forearms until it tore itself from the force of the bolts, exposing the prideful man's skin. The last few bolts were agonizing, his exposed skin practically fell off his arms, revealing the cooked meat and sinew that held his arms together. If Shaun didn't have a healing factor, he would be dead by now.

All the while this was happening, he wondered why couldn't he speak or even let out a scream of agony, he assumed his instincts took over which silenced any attempt at vocalization. The thought of killing her overflowed in his mind but that wasn't the objective of the institute however with the way things are going now, the forest was about to engulf itself in a chaotic blaze which would compromise their objective of discreetness. And as if things weren't worse for Shaun, Ember now brandished a flaming sword coupled with a fiery shield, what a lovely day this was for him.

Shaun released a gasp as Ember began to close in on him, this was gonna be an infernal hell. His arms were still healing from the bolts he took so they were useless for. The first swing was so fast that Shaun barely dodged it, the very tip of the sword made a fine, cauterized line on his torso. The only thing keeping Shaun from meeting a fiery doom were his legs as he executed dodge after dodge after dodge. He couldn't keep the evading up for long so a reckless decision was to be made.

The next attack that was sent screaming at Shaun was his opportunity. Shaun's positioning was expertly calculated. Ember's sword punctured his stomach and reappeared behind his back, barely missing his spinal column. His intestines were scorched, some were beginning to be liquified. The lower half of spinal fluid boiled. Blood poured out from the bottom of his helmet, his mouth had begun to gush with the crimson life essence. Before Ember could continue her attack, her blade arm was suddenly gripped by his hand like a bear trap. From beneath his black visor, he gazed into her eyes."Destiny. Domination. Deceit." The arm that held the blazing sword was crushed to a pulp and Ember's throat was embraced by Shaun's bloody hand. Even with everything that Ember did to him, there was still no wish for her to die so he began to choke her with his right arm.

WillowAIR
"That sounds nice," Willow said through a sincere smile, "I suppose I can spend some time today prodding Ember into the mood to come along as well. There wasn't much I'd planned to do today anyway." She looked around the inside of their current living situation. "Some cleaning, the laundry, dishes..." She perked up upon remembering something and smiled at Silver. "Oh, and if I see another plate left sitting in either you or Ember's rooms I will be leaving it to mold under your bed. Let's all do our best to keep that from happening, yes?" Willow brought the glass of water up to take a sip, and then set it back down without drinking any. She got up and poured out the glass, washing it and putting it away. "Sorry Silver, I know I've been in a strange mood lately. It's not about anything you or Ember did, I just..." Willow gave a shrug. "Sometimes I think it'd be nice to forget, you know?" The mood had gotten dangerously close to being serious, so Willow backpedaled towards lighter topics with a laugh and a smile. "So about the games at this music party, how about a bet to see who can win most out of us?"
