East Park City was a average town, you could say. That being said, the previous sentence would be an understatement. And in the worst of ways.

There was little about East Park that was actually interesting, everyone living there looked the same, not in features but in behavior, most of the time. A mother and or, a father, and a child or two. All living in almost identical condos of a neutral, basic color. It was a bit bland, if you were to ask me. There was barely any hell-raising amongst adolescents, except the occasional robbery and small pickpocketing, thus East Park’s crime ratings were at an all time low. The cops were now given the higher risk of diabetes when lounging about the office to not bust anything but another package of donuts open. It’s sad, really.

Of course, it couldn’t be that boring. No town could have been so hideously dim and blunt like a knife my mother-in-law would slash me with on Thanksgiving Day. There was the hustle and bustle of everyday life for the students of East Park High. There were cliches, nerds, jocks, you name it, East Park had it. There were store fronts to visit, lakes to swim through, and days of occasional sun to bask in. The clouds would often block out the sun, which wasn’t surprising in Vermont. It was like your life had been planned out before in some forsaken destiny...

But who wouldn’t like to write their own story?

____________

hey! it’s ollie, and after binge-watching a combination of The Office, Glee, and Riverdale, I thought up the oh so original idea to make a high school roleplay, because for some reason, I’ve been craving such a thing. I was thinking that, much like Glee, that we would really be able to watch our characters, those of whom I would prefer to be around sixteen and seventeen, grow up and graduate from high school. I don’t exactly know how all of this will play out, but I’m quite excited!!

I will only be accepting up to ten to eleven people, at most.

If you were to ask Eva Adams, at any time and any moment, she would claim that an alarm integrated into your bedside clock would be one of lacking inventions of the human race. She had a bone to pick as to why such a malicious man would even find it in his heart to create the device from hell. And to make it worse, Eva regret using a song to blare throughout her room in the morning to wake her. Why? She wasn’t that big of a fan when it came to Celine Dion screeching about how her fucking heart would go on. (Though it did seem like a smart choice when her parents had first bought it, when she hadn’t even been born yet.)

In an attempt to silence the blaring monstrousity, Eva’s hand reached from the underfolds of her thick, yet comfortable sheets and rasped her fingertips against the button of the bellowing beacon. Clicking the switch back and forth like a maniac, it soon came to attention that the repetitive sound would not stop even if you were to slam your wrist into it. A stifled groan erupted beneath a mountain of lush blankets, honeyed blonde hair tangled and whisked about its pillows. The deep forest green orbs of the girl shifted from the clock, to the ceiling, and then to the clock again.

Sitting up abruptly, Eva glared at the ticking object sourly. It was just another precious reminder that today was the beginning of the week, meaning there was school to get ready for and complain about while doing so. Stretching her weary limbs, she released a deep sigh as she forced herself farther away from the comforts of her bed and closer toward the outside world. Eva stood in front of her silver vimmed vanity mirror, closely observing the dark rings beneath her eyes. One thing she couldn’t take back was the midnight hours she had spent reading under the pale light of the moon. She pondered for a moment if it were possible to cover her flaws with the little amount of makeup her mother had lying about the master bedroom.

Slipping out of her sleepwear, Eva rustled through her clean laundry basket before pulling out a few articles of clothing that she found fitting for the day. Running a brush through her tangled hair, it wouldn’t have been surprising if the comb got stuck in a knob at the top of her head. The distant shouting of her parents from the downstairs living room could be heard from a mile away.

“Don’t forget to wear a jacket today, Evie!”

“You don’t wanna be late, do you, honey?”

Another subtle hit in the gut of the hellish lifestyle she’s lived. Juggling school, friends, and her after school hobbies (such as working for a teenage helpline), was enough to make your head spin. Yeah, it’s might have been a lot for her, but Eva craved the rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins. It was an addiction, one she couldn’t dare let go. Dedicating all of her effort to her studies and the things she loved most left no room for leniency.

Grabbing ahold of a jacket from a closet hanger as her mother had requested, Eva closed her bedroom door behind her, and turned toward the large expanse of staircase steps before her.

“I’m ready to go!” She called from the top step, shaking her head at how impatient her family had gotten over the years. For living just five minutes in walking distance from the school, there was little doubt that Eva could ever be considered late.

Collecting the things that she needed for school from the kitchen counter in the other room, Eva checked that she was ready, and then checked herself again. As she approached the nearest door to their driveway, Eva called out to her parents, in hope that they may have possibly been listening.

“Goodbye, Mum! Bye, Dad! I’ll be home by four!” She waited by the door for a moment, hoping for a response. But after several passing moments of silence, and to her bitter disappointment, Eva grasp the bronze knob, opened the front door, and was off.

KAI KEAHI
MENTIONS:
INTERACTING:

A LOUD THUMP ECHOED IN HIS ROOM. IT TOOK HIM A WHILE TO REGISTER THAT THE SOURCE OF THE THUMP WAS HIS CONTACT WITH THE FLOOR. KAI'S FIRST RESPONSE WAS TO GRIT HIS TEETH AND BRING HIS HAND ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. OW.
THE THING WAS, KAI KEAHI DID NOT NEED AN ALARM CLOCK. FIRST OF ALL, HE HARDLY EVER SLEPT, AS WAS EVIDENT ON THE BAGS UNDER HIS EYES. SECOND OF ALL, HIS BIOLOGICAL CLOCK WAS SO ADVANCED THAT HE DID NOT NEED ANY OF THOSE PEASANTLY ALARM CLOCKS. HE WAS THE BOURGEOISIE, NOBILITY OF BIOLOGICAL CLOCKS.
IT TOOK HIM A WHILE TO RECOVER FROM THE DAMAGE, BUT EVENTUALLY, HE QUIT ROLLING ON THE FLOOR AND ACTUALLY SAT UP. HE EXPECTED FOR HIS EYES TO FOCUS PROPERLY BUT REMEMBERED THAT HIS VISION AQUITY WAS 20/40.

THE YOUNG BOY SPENT A FEW CONSIDERABLE MINUTES TRYING TO FIND HIS GLASSES (WHICH SEEMED TO EVAPORATE EVERY TIME HE NEEDED THEM THE MOST). FINALLY, HE FOUND THEM, MUMBLED SOMETHING ABOUT HOW THE CONCEPT OF HIM HAVING TO PAY TO SEE WAS RIDICULOUS, INSULTED CAPITALISM AND STOOD UP. HE CARRIED ON WITH HIS USUAL MORNING ROUTINE AND THEN ASCENDED DOWNSTAIRS.

THE SMELL OF EGGS, BACON, PANCAKES AND ORANGE JUICE FILLED HIS NOSE. AH, THE AMERICAN DREAM.
THAT IT WAS FOR EVERYONE EXCEPT FOR KAI KEAHI.
"DAD, YOU KNOW I'M VEGAN," HE MUTTERED WITH VENOM DRIPPING FROM HIS VOICE, PAIRED WITH A GLARE.
SEE, HAROLD KEAHI WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T BELIEVE IN VEGANS OR WHATEVER. HE WAS STUCK SOMEWHERE IN THE 50S, ACCORDING TO HIS SON AT LEAST (COME ON, EVEN HIS JOB WAS A CAR MECHANIC. WHAT COULD GET MORE...HAROLD KEAHI-ISH THAN THAT??.
HE ONLY GOT A CHUCKLE FROM HIS DAD, SOMETHING AKIN TO BELITTLING WHAT HE HAD JUST IDENTIFIED WITH. WHATEVER. KAI WOULD JUST CHUG HIS ORANGE JUICE AND LEAVE.

AND SO HE DID. KAI PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVELY DRANK THE ORANGE JUICE WHILE LOOKING HIS DAD IN THE EYE AND TURNED HIS BACK. HE COULD HEAR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO 'GET BACK HERE' AND 'EAT YOUR DAMN FOOD THAT I MADE FOR YOU', AND IGNORED THEM. IT WAS GREAT BEING A TEENAGER.

HE WALKED OUT OF THE HOUSE, REMEMBERED THAT HE FORGOT THE CAR KEYS, CURSED HIMSELF, WENT BACK TO GET THEM, WALKED TO HIS CAR AND SHOVED THE KEYS IN.
OTHER THAN THE LOOKS AND SURNAME, KAI HAD ALSO INHERITED HIS DAD'S LOVE FOR CARS. ESPECIALLY THE OLD-FASHIONED ONES.
HE WAS THE PROUD OWNER OF A 1984 CHEVY CORVETTE, THAT HE HAD AFFECTIONATELY NAMED 'EDITH PIAF' DUE TO THE FACT THAT EVERY TIME HE TRIED TO START THE CAR, IT WOULD MAKE THE MOST VICIOUS SOUND EVER. IT REMINDED HIM OF THE LATE FRENCH SINGER'S POWERFUL R'S. ONE NIGHT, IT CAME INTO HIS DREAMS. THE CORVETTE SANG 'NON, JE NE REGRETTE RIEN' IN HIS DREAM, AND THE NAME WAS SETTLED IN STONE.

LISTENING TO THE BEAUTIFUL REVVING PROVIDED BY EDITH FOR A FEW SECONDS, HE FINALLY STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE HIS ASS INTO SCHOOL. OR, HOW HE ALSO HAD AFFECTIONATELY NICKNAMED 'LIVING HELL'. ACADEMICS WERE JUST FINE, IT WAS JUST THE PRESENCE OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT MADE HIM SHUDDER. AS HE FINALLY ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE SCHOOL'S WALL, PARKED HIS CAR, STOOD UP AND WALKED INSIDE, HE WAS ONCE AGAIN REMINDED OF WHY HATED THE PLACE. HE WALKED TO HIS LOCKER, THREW UNNECESSARY CRAP AND TOOK OUT THE LESS-UNNECESSARY-BUT-STILL-UNNECESSARY STUFF. CHECKING HIS PHONE TO SEE WHAT TIME IT WAS, HE WAS DISAPPOINTED TO SEE THAT HIS CLASS WOULD SOON START.

ROSCOE HERNÁNDEZ

location: behind the bleachers
mood: chill
mentions: n/a

An intense beeping noise was the only sound echoing around the dark room. No movement, just a high-pitched, consistent trilling noise and the light of a phone screen. It takes a special kind of person to sleep though that sort of noise. Special in that they didn't give a shit about anyone or anything around them.

This morning, that person was Roscoe Hernández.

It was not, however, his mother. Elina Hernádez's fists pounded on the teenager's door, somehow defiantly breaking through the blaring noise of his wake up call. Ross shot up in bed, looking around hastily before getting up and stumbling to the door, pulling it open. He looked up at his mother through bleary eyes and messy hair, letting out a noise that may have been a question if it was spoken by someone who was actually aware.

"You do realize that I work nights, right? Try not to let your alarm go off for so long, okay?" The woman asked, looking just as exhausted as her son felt, though all she got in response was a few blinks. She huffed, placing a hand on his head and ruffling the dark mass of hair, effectively waking up up the groggy teenager. He stumbled backwards into his room, ready to start the day, while his mother walked away, muttering something about 'making breakfast, since she was awake anyways.

Slightly more aware, Ross scrambled to find a clean pair of black jeans, throwing a dark hoodie on with them in his maximum "no effort" style. He didn't even bother to brush his hair, simply running his hands through it a few times before pushing it back out of his face. Grabbing his denim jacket & backpack, he made his way downstairs, where he found two only slightly-burnt pieces of toast waiting for him. The boy sat, grabbing a piece of toast and stuffing it in his face, just in time for his mom to pipe up.

"So, I got a call from the school counselor—"

Eyes widening, Ross grabbed the other slice of toast, mumbling, "Gotta go," and rushing out the door before his mom could even blink twice. He was almost certain he heard his full name being yelled after him, but he continued to the garage. Flipping the kickstand, he grabbed the handlebars of his old, crappy bike, casting a longing glance at the old motorbike he was fixing up. It was a 20 minute ride to school with his own manpower, and he always ended up sweaty, out of breath, and itching for a cigarette. Just imagining how much of that would be different once he finally got that beauty finished made him let out an exasperated sigh.

Cue Ross, now 20 minutes later, locking his bike onto one of the rusted bike racks on the side of the school. He had arrived early enough that he had time for a smoke before classes, so he causally slunk around the building, coming to the bleachers behind the sports field. As cliched as it was, this was where students came to misbehave. Stepping into the inner-workings underneath the bleachers, Ross put down his backpack, pulling out a box of American Spirits (for the irony) and his lighter. The lanky teen leaned against a metal beam and lit up, taking a long drag and feeling his general anxiety melt away. These were the best kind of mornings: when he arrived early enough to decompress before the school day started. He could never smoke in or around his own home—God willing, Nurse Hernández would rip him a new one. But no one was going to do that out here, seeing as how teachers and yuppies avoided it like the plague unless there was a sporting event going on.

All he needed was a few minutes before class to clear his head—of his mom, of his family drama, of what he knew was his pending suspension for skipping class—and he could make it through the day

Garnet Thorne
Mornings were a dreaded time for Garnet. A creature who'd chosen their own name, their own gender, what pet they wanted, and their hair color, yet they couldn't have the privilege of deciding when to get up in the morning. At that point, what's the purpose of the right to make decisions at all? They may as well be comatose. Squishy, their rosy boa, was still comfortably wedged in the corner of her tank, not hungry or needing anything in particular. A low-effort creature. Garnet wished life was that easy, as to just huddle up into a corner and only move for food.

Their mother of sorts, Gretchen, who they never called "mom" or "mother" or even "aunt", was usually asleep at these hours. Retired, or working from home, or something. Garnet never spent even a minute being interested in her life. Which meant she never had comments about how Garnet dressed themselves, an act that took longer than any of their other morning rituals, including the minuscule breakfast they usually took in. Today seemed like a good day for a dress, sort of a babydoll dress. Some tights, mary-janes... yeah, this was on-brand for Garnet. Very "Babes in Toyland".

For breakfast, one slice of toast. Garnet didn't have an eating disorder, at least they didn't think they did, but their body was just so gloriously lanky. To give it up for eggs and bacon seemed criminal. Their bag was packed for class, teeth brushed and hair washed. They smelled like L'Oreal children's shampoo.

The sun hurt Garnet's eyes, every single time. Unless it was cloudy out, they seemed to go blind every single time they peered past the panes of their front door. Why did the one thing keeping all of humanity alive have to hurt, physically, to look at? It seemed all too metaphorical, all too artful. An art that only reality could have spawned. No writer in their wildest of dreams could have conceived something so ironic, so wicked. As Garnet's eyes adjusted, they shifted to the large oil painting they'd left out on the yard last night to dry, figuring the night air would help it out. A deer had stepped on it, creating little hoofprints.

Perfect.

Withdrawing a pencil from their bag, Garnet jotted their signature onto the back. Then the title, which spontaneously came to them: "Blue-faced Foot". Then they once again set it back down to resume drying. Grass blades and dust had landed in the black, blue and pink oil surface, creating a meeting of man and nature in its most primal form. This one, certainly, would be going in the gallery.

Now they were late for school. Tentative, nervous, they finally left the front of their mid-size house, to face a world beyond walls once again. Another Monday morning in the life chronicle of Garnet Thorne, art extraordinaire.

From under a thin sheet, a mess of orange hair appeared, the only visible trace of the girl sleeping in the queen bed. Disturbing the placid scene, a small radio on the dark oaky bedside table blared to life with a passion. The larger-than-life voice of a radio host erupted from the miniature speaker and after a brief stirring, the young girl sat up in bed like the risen dead in a cheesy horror film, letting the sheet fall off of her. As if in a daze, she stretched her arms, placed her feet on the floor beside her bed one by one, and stood up, stretching to her full, though not exactly impressive, height. Now, she faced the maroon and white banner she had hung there two years ago and the sleep washed from her mind. Motivation. That was what the banner symbolized for Kateryna and she would never forget it. With the morning news rattling on the girl slipped her bare feet into her slippers and strode into her bathroom. Light makeup, nothing too flashy. Just a little mascara really. Next, clothes. She liked to be fairly strategic about how she planned her day most of the time and she tugged on a pair of plain black leggings and a too-big Harvard T-shirt; it was a comfy day, and wearing Harvard 'swag' was always a motivator. No swim practice after school meant that she could either come straight home to study or hang out at the library for a bit, and either way she wanted to be comfortable. After quickly pulling a brush through her curls of ginger hair, she hurried out of her room, backpack on and keys in hand, and headed down the flight of stairs. Kat's hand was already firmly wrapped around the doorknob when a voice sounded from just behind her.

"Yelizaveta Kateryna where do you think you are going before breakfast?" Hearing the cold tone in her mother's voice as she said her full name made her purse her lips in irritation. It wasn't that she didn't want to eat or she hated her name, she just wasn't exactly hungry at the moment and that name was only ever used by an unhappy mother or someone who was looking to tease her for it. Slowly, the girl turned to face her mother, whose hands were placed firmly on her hips and whose face held a confident yet disappointed expression. The woman's daughter rolled her eyes but followed close behind as her mother led her to the ornate kitchen where a full display of fruits and pastries had been arranged. Kateryna grabbed an apple from the lavish display and took a bite.

"What's all this for mom?" the girl asked between bites. Her mother shrugged and gave a simple response.

"Business meeting at 2. Caterer's dropped this off a few minutes ago." Well, Kat thought, library study session it is then. Her father had had quite enough business meetings in the past for her to know that they could be both loud and extremely monotonous. I.E. not great studying atmosphere. She didn't wait until she had finished the apple to leave, but as soon as her mother had taken to fixing up the fruit bouquets, Kateryna slipped back into the entry room and through the front door. The small, green, VW bug in the driveway brought a smile to the girl's face as her eyes landed on it, just as they had the first time she'd seen her baby. It was flawless in her eyes, despite the minor dings on the bumper and passenger door, and climbing into it somehow reminded her of home each time. There wasn't exactly a reason for the connection, but she felt it all the same. She started up the little guy and pulled out of the driveway, past the other large homes that matched her own, and finally arrived at the school about ten minutes early: exactly how she liked it. Inside the school, she hurried down the halls and spotted her locker, though she only saw it for a moment before she was hurtling back to the ground where she landed with a 'hmph'. Typical, she thought as she gathered herself back up, ignoring the giggles of a few nearby boys and the one who had sent her crashing down. No, he hadn't shoved her or anything, but a slight bump in the wrong direction combined with her two left feet that only worked well underwater could only leave her flat on her butt. Luckily, she hadn't dropped anything but her pride and she brushed herself off, despite the lack of dust collected, and stood up, her head high. Laughter hadn't bothered her in years, or at least she didn't let it bother her anymore, and she unlocked her locker quickly, casting around a quick glance to take note of who had been witness to the unfortunate scene, and cramming the books she would need for class in her navy-green backpack.

Walking the mere five minutes toward the school was somehow efficient, Eva supposed. It wasn’t the most exciting or the most boring part of her day. It did keep her in enough shape for all the hell she would endure later in the day. Though waiting around for the occasional ring from a telephone with another equally random teenager asking for dating advice or tips on skincare was nothing compared to her craving for adventure, even outside of reading the novellas of a the most thrill-seeking. But she was so lost in the large country. The truth was, Eva wasn’t exactly up to date on the customs of the American-born townsmen. The United States was most definitely a mystery to her, one she wished to explore deeper, their language was different, and there were less metaphors and cursing thrown about in everyday life. It was as though you were stepping from your bedroom each day, leaving the one thing you were so familiar with.

It was like she had left her homeland, the one place where she felt like she had most belonged, though an outcast all the same. There were people who spoke like her there, and looked at her as though she weren’t just some random blonde oddball. Even if she didn’t mind the change of scenery, everything was just so new. And she wasn’t the biggest fan when it came to any sort of change.

Now, she found herself standing farther in the outside, staring into a snow globe of beautiful chaos and livelihood. Without noticing, Eva’s pace naturally quickened with the pounding of her heart reverberating in her ears. She pushed away the strands of hair that had fallen into her face, forcing the courage to look up and trudge forward. Flyers littered a majority of the streets ahead of her, many with a number she recognized all to well. She didn’t exactly support the idea of her manager tossing promotional papers around the city with only a piece of tape. Business is business, Eva could hear Stewart’s voice in her ear. And truth be told, she couldn’t disagree less.

The farther she strolled down the the jagged sidewalk, the larger and more apparent the school seemed. Hundred upon hundred of students could be seen flooding from their houses in an almost military line, enveloping the streets and roads en route toward their single source of knowledge. And no matter how large the town had grown, there was still only one high school to have gone to. Maybe East Park City was sibling deeper into debt, as many suspecting civilians had assumed. As irrational as it seemed, it was the only theory that had any reasoning behind it.

A heavy gust of air whipped at Eva’s face, as though it were determined to have her gorge down her own hair. Sputtering and scratching her honey locks behind her, between the space of her skin and hair, Eva watched as cars passed, headed in the same direction that everyone else was headed to. It felt as though Eva herself was just going through the motions that anyone else would have, not doing anything to change her lifestyle. She would wake up, go to school, get to boring old work, head home, and repeat everything for the rest of the week. Was it... repetitive? Was that the right word for it?

Eva was shoved back into reality by the sound of a motorcycle zipping past the sidewalk from where she stood. It had startled her to the point that she had almost jumped straight out of her skin.

Tightening her thick jacket around her, Eva huffed whatever was left of the hair in her eyes. She wondered if it was always this hectic at this time in the morning, not dating herself to believe she could have her wish for some excitement to be taken up so quickly.

“If I get to school on time, I’ll be able to forget this whole morning ever happened. Um, that- that sounds like something I’d believe,” The girl spoke the distinct chant she uttered almost every morning she felt like pulling her hair out as she stepped closer toward the gates of hell, or a building more properly named East Park High. That is, if she would be able to survive the next few seconds without her thoughts having wandered. She could only hope that she would be able to make it to her locker without tripping over her own Converse sneakers in the process.

Cluttered. That was the only word to properly phrase the hectic scene before her. Hundreds of students stumbling and bumbling into and about the building like they would be late at any moment, when in reality, there was still minutes to spare.

Catching a straight glimpse of her locker, Eva strut right past a group of boys who appeared to be snickering about their own idiotic deeds, before realizing who exactly it was directed to. A girl with ginger hair stood just feet away, putting away her things at her own locker. Ugh, boys, they’ll never learn, will they? Eva asked herself, somewhat pitying the girl, not only because of what the boys had done, but also because Eva could see herself through the girl. The one back in Leicester, shunned and teased for her geeky ways. She stared for a moment longer, before stiffening up and imputing the code to her locker. The metal box opened with an adamant pop!, before she slipped off her book bag and placed it on its hook, before zipping it open and gathering the things she’d need for the day. Closing the locker almost as she had opened it, she headed toward her first class of the day, Biology.

>Renata Fonesca
>Lockers/Hallway & Biology Class
>Interacting With: Nobody Yet

Renata was trying to simultaneously finish her muffin and open her locker, struggling with the two for a moment before getting her act together to successfully open the door and finish the treat she had baked herself only yesterday. Now, what class did she have again? Renata, being the forgetful type, quickly took a peek at her schedule that hung from the little door of her locker, somewhat hidden among a mess of magnets, stickers, pictures, and other personal junk she'd managed to squeeze into the small space. "Biology?" Renata groaned out loud. That class was so gross... And hard... Why couldn't she just have Home Ec and Gym class? That would be so much more fun! But life was never so simple for her, as she long ago found out. The teen reluctantly grabbed her biology textbook, pencil case, and her similarly adorned teal binder.

She paused briefly in the hallway, reminding herself she can't go into class with a negative attitude because she knew if she did that, she'd do even worse than she normally did in that. So she tried to think of something positive. What's happening today? She pondered to herself before her face broke into a smile. There was a cheer practice at the end of the day! Then on top of that, cheer tryouts would be soon too, as a few of their cheer squad members had graduated and they'd need to be replaced soon. That means new cheer buddies! Hopefully, they'd be nice and they wouldn't be... Well, not so nice.

Her mood much improved now, she strolled into class with much less reluctance than before and took a seat in the second row of desks where she usually sat in this class. Near the front, but not close enough that the teacher paid too much attention to Renata, the perfect spot for her. She got all her things organized and waited for class to start, or for someone she could chat with so she didn't have to sit here doing a whole lot of nothing.

For now, she went onto her phone, distinctive among others thanks to its lavender coloured case with a sparkly backside. If it somehow wasn't apparent, Renata was a very feminine and girly girl, and proud of it. She worked hard to be able to freely express herself the way she wanted, so she was going to be as girly as she liked.

Vanessa Kherson
It was morning, seven AM on the dot when Vanessa woke up. One might expect a girl like her to get as much sleep as possible, but they’d be wrong. She wasn’t even the best sleeper to begin with, but when she slept she liked to wake at exactly seven AM. It was how it used to be with Mother- none of the people who had took her in were anything close to a mother, none seemed to see her as much more as a walking, cursing pay check. Pity that Mother is in prison, she supposed.

She got dressed in the clothing she laid out on the chair the night before. It was a dark tanktop, ripped jeans and her glasses. At least these people allowed her some clothes that were the sort of style she liked, there was a time where she had to wear nothing but sickly pink dresses and while she had nothing wrong with the colour pink at the time now the sight of it makes her feel slightly sick.

The best advantage of getting up early, of course, was avoiding the foster parents. They woke up a bit later than her, so if Vanessa was careful, she could have her breakfast in time to get to school before even seeing them. One would probably think she hated school, but that would again be incorrect. More accurate would be to say she hated everything in school other than her English, Art and maybe Drama lessons.

After finishing up some dry cereal, Vanessa grabbed her school bag and a hairbrush (she could brush her hair at school, she decided) and went to walk to school. It was the first day she was attending, but she knew the general location, and it was very close to her current accommodation, so she got there quickly before the start of school. She checked her schedule again. First lesson Biology, ugh, but at least she had Art lessons and Drama lessons in this school and they hopefully wouldn’t be as pathetic as the ones in White Hill, where it was basically (and almost sadly) just free time to raise Hell.

Not that Vanessa was opposed to raising hell. After all, if she had her way of it, everyone would fear the name Vanessa Kherson before the time her foster parents rejected her.

Renata took a glance over at an empty desk beside her as the room slowly filled with students. She’d heard that there was a new girl in school named Vanessa from her social circles. One of the privileges and curses of being a cheerleader was hearing a lot of gossip, both about others and yourself. That was about all anyone knew about her though, which made sense since she had only just arrived. Though it may seem like it, popular girls weren't all knowing beings who knew all your weaknesses, though it often felt like it. Ren would know that best.

She was excited to meet the new girl though. Vanessa was a pretty name and definitely sounded like a possible cheerleader. Renata had previously considered it as a name for herself but had decided that it didn’t sound like her. It was difficult to explain that to other people, it’s just something you hadn’t to go through yourself to get.

Renata decided that when she saw her, she would introduce herself, invite her to lunch, then ask if she’d like to try out during lunch, because why would she say no? That sounded like a great plan in the optimist’s mind. Hopefully, they’d be nicer than the last Vanessa... She couldn’t help but smile and wait in anticipation. What can she say? New people and friends excited her.

Garnet Thorne
The walk to school was some of the only exercise Garnet ever seemed to get. And they were comfortable, nay, proud of that fact. They were scrawny, a waif, and proud of it. Nobody could pull off Violet Chachki quite like Garnet could. Well, except Violet Chachki, of course. Beauty came second only to strangeness. If they weren't strange, then what were they? Absolutely nothing, most likely.

Their locker was, unfortunately, nestled in the crowd of pig-sweating football jocks, all visibly prepared to jerk one another off at a moment's notice. Garnet may have been an intellectual, but at some point, brute strength always wins. The world was no Aesop's fable, after all. He was less the David to their Goliath, and moreso an ant underneath their collective heavy sneaker. Every morning they prepared with a bit of stretching. It kept them nice and limber. Other students were locking up their bikes, which meant they hadn't shown up before the morning rush. They'd had an arm broken during these bait-balls of human flesh. It was like a Black Friday sale in the midwest, just complete and utter chaos, nobody thinking or caring one bit about his fellow man.

But if they were late again, Gretchen would have a hissy fit and no doubt finally kill them. So it was time. They adjusted their collar and spat on the ground like a cowboy. A cowboy in drag, but still. Then they entered.

The gates of Hell were opened as they wiggled into the twisting mass of man. It felt as though Garnet was a newborn infant, being forcibly wedged through an ever-moving birth canal, screaming and reaching towards the light. Each person had their own sound, their own feeling, their clothes felt strange as they rubbed along Garnet's pale, made-up face. They heaved in a loud breath, about to scream out for the lord God to rescue them, when suddenly the ever-churning wheel of meat spat them out by the locker wall.

The monolith of man had taken pause when one of its hive-children came loose, landing on its ass. A girl with fire-red hair, a color Garnet had used for flames before. Laughter came from the endless salp-chain, and Garnet couldn't help but roll their eyes.

"Grow up, ratfuckers..."

Just loud enough to be heard, but not enough to draw attention to themself. What was funny about a person falling? There was no set-up and no punchline. Nothing clever about it. No humor in it, no fucking point. Then again, Garnet wasn't a very funny person at all. Most of their jokes involved dead people. (Dead baby jokes are, after all, the peak of comedy.) They then wrenched open their locker without acknowledging anyone, despite calling no doubt over one-hundred hormonal apes "ratfuckers". They weren't afraid to die, not by quarterback or hall monitor or anyone.

With one last puff, Ross dropped the remains of his cigarette on the ground, putting it out by grinding the heel of his boot onto it. Typically, he left the remnants of his stress relief sessions out here all week, and would pick them all up again on Friday. The way he saw it, that was more efficient. By the end of the week, one could typically tell what Ross's state of mind had been in the past five days. If the ground was littered with cigarette butts on Friday... Well, it had been a bad week.

As he shouldered his bag, he trudged over to the school building, entering through a back door that, technically wasn't supposed to be unlocked, but he had dismantled the lock for a quick escape a while back and no one had noticed. There was no need to go to his locker before class, because that was where his textbooks lived, and it was where they would stay, untouched throughout the year. It wasn't that he was lazy, per se, he just... couldn't bring himself to care enough.

Solemnly, Ross made his way through the halls, where he always felt out of place as the giant, brooding Indian. His gaze was set, sternly exuding an aura that would keep people from trying to talk to him. Once he made it to the Biology classroom (a class he had failed last year, when all of his family issues had seemed like too much), he stepped inside, making a beeline for a seat at the very back of the room. Slumping down in his seat, he leaned back in his seat, propping his feet up on the desk and really wishing he wasn't here right now.

Renata was looking over her busy schedule in a futile attempt to remember what was happening that week. From cheer to her part-time job at the local bakery, she was a very busy girl, rarely a boring moment for her. Of course, she always tried to leave some room in for friends and time with her dad. It was difficult juggling it all and a bit stressful but nothing she couldn't handle. I mean, when was her life not a little stressful? Never. That's when.

The smell of cigarettes brought Renata's bright hazel eyes from her sparkly lavender phone as she attempted not to react, whether by coughing or just cringing at the smell, as she didn't want to be rude to him. Honestly, she wasn't a big fan of the smell, especially since her mother was also an avid smoker, and well, she didn't exactly get along with her mother. Unfortunately, when you're even slightly popular and you're slightly different, your shit tends to get passed around like an infectious virus so this was more well known then Renata would prefer. But all her business was, and that's simply something she had to accept, even if she didn't especially like it.

"Good morning!" She greeted the man with a cheerful smile, a stark contrast to his more somber and brooding demeanor. What was his name again? Roy? Roswald? Roscoe? It was Roscoe, wasn't it? Maybe she should wait for the teacher to call him during attendance before she attempted to call him by his name. It was rare for her to not know the name of people as again, she knew almost everybody and almost everyone knew her. But he was a loner, from a completely different world that her. Possibly an alternative universe. She'd probably have more in common with an alien, honestly. But nonetheless, she was polite and friendly person, and he didn't look like he was feeling too great so she did what made her personally feel better. Did it make everybody better? No. Did everyone appreciate her attempts at social interaction? No. But most people liked the feeling of being noticed, acknowledged, and knowing somebody cares enough to at least say hi. Nothing, in her opinion, is worse than being ignored and shunned. She'd rather be heckled, made fun of, and insulted than to let silence do it instead. Silence was an asshole and Renata doesn't especially like assholes.

Vanessa entered the biology classroom. She didn’t know when classes started, and she didn’t want to get detention over missing class when there’s far better things to get detention for. Inside the room were two students, a long haired boy who stunk of cigarettes and a cheerful blonde girl who looked completely opposed to the more somber boy. Well, at least Vanessa can’t say she’s not found herself in an interesting crowd, though lesson doesn’t seem like it’s started yet.

She took a desk in the corner, close to the back though not at the very edge. She didn’t know if someone used this desk and she frankly didn’t give a damn. She pulled her hairbrush out of her bag and started detangling the many knots in her unruly hair.

KAI KEAHI
INTERACTING:

HE WAS JUST ABOUT TO TURN TO GO TO BIOLOGY CLASS, BEFORE HE GOT TO WITNESS SOMEONE FALLING ON THEIR ARSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAYS. JESUS, SOME PEOPLE WERE EVEN CLUMSIER THAN KAI WAS. AND THAT WAS A MIRACLE TO HIM. KAI DECIDED TO IGNORE THE WHOLE ORDEAL AS HE SAW ANOTHER PERSON APPROACH THE FALLEN GIRL WHO ASSISTED HER. HE WASN'T A FAN OF INTERACTING WITH STRANGERS. BESIDES, HE WAS RUNNING LATE TO BIOLOGY. HE ENJOYED SCIENCE, BUT TALKING ABOUT CELLS AND THE ECOSYSTEM OFTEN WAS DEADLY BORING. KAI HAD MASTERED THE ART OF FALLING ASLEEP IN CLASS AND GETTING CALLED OUT BY THE TEACHER TWO SECONDS AFTER HE RESTED HIS EYES.

FOR THIS VERY REASON, HE CHOSE THE DESK NEAR THE BACK, BUT NOT SUSPICIOUSLY SO, SO THAT HE COULD GET AS MUCH OF SHUT-EYE AS HE COULD. WHAT COULD HE DO? HIS EYELIDS SEEMED TO BE NATURALLY HEAVY. HAVING GLASSES AND LIKING SCIENCE DIDN'T MAKE HIM A NERDY PREPPY GUY WHO WOULD SIT IN THE FRONT AND ANSWERED EACH OF THE QUESTIONS. HE TOO LIKED TO BE ONE WITH THE BACK-OF-THE-CLASS GARBAGE GANG.
HE PUT DOWN HIS BACKPACK AND TOOK A PEEK TO SEE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE CLASS. HE DIDN'T REALLY KNOW THAT MANY PEOPLE. SOME OF THE FACES WERE FAMILIAR, SOME HE SWORE HE HAD NEVER EVEN SEEN. HOW COULD A SCHOOL SO SMALL HOLD SO MANY PEOPLE HE YET HAD TO BUMP INTO?

ONE OF THE GIRLS IN THE CLASS DECIDED THAT TALKING TO STRANGERS WAS A GOOD IDEA. KAI VETOED THAT. THE OTHER ONE STARTED BRUSHING HER HAIR. THERE WAS A DEPRESSIVE LOOKING BOY OUT THERE TOO. WHAT A LOVELY LIVELY HAPPY BUNCH. HE SHOOK HIS HEAD TO HIMSELF SUBTLY TO EXPRESS HIS DISMAY AND TOOK OUT HIS BIOLOGY BOOKS. LET'S SEE, DID HE EVEN FINISH HIS HOMEWORK? HE WAS DELIGHTED TO SEE THAT YES, THE KAI KEAHI OF THE PAST WAS SMARTER THAN HE HAD EXPECTED.

There she was. The new girl, Vanessa Kherson. Definitely not what she was expecting. I mean, she guessed right on her being blonde. But everything else? From the piercings to the makeup, the brunette could tell she likely would not want to be a cheerleader. But who knows? 5 years ago, the Brazilian girl didn’t even know she would be allowed on any cheerleading team ever. Anything is possible. Besides, she wasn’t just looking for new recruits. Another friend sounded just as good to her. Sure, she also looked like an alien to her, much like Roscoe or whatever his name is, but it didn’t hurt to try and befriend her, right?

Getting up from her desk with a spark of determination, Renata confidently strolled over to the new girl. “Hi there! You must be Vanessa! Assuming my sources are correct, of course. They have failed me before.” She greeted, revealing herself to be a part of the rare sub-species of human, a morning person. “I’m Renata, but if that’s too long for you, Ren is cool with me. Anyways, I know you’re new and just wanted to say hi. I know first days can be scary so here I am, hopefully making it slightly more bareable for you.” She explained briefly.

Vanessa Kherson
Vanessa snorted and turned her head to Renata. “ ‘Sup, losers. Don’t worry, I’m not scared of the first day. The first day is scared of me.” Damn, that sounded a lot cooler in her head. No need to worry though. She’s Vanessa Kherson, and a mistake like that wouldn’t let her down. Pausing for a second, she realised maybe getting an ally in this new place would be a good idea. “Call me Nessie, if you like.”

Renata could respect a bit of confidence, even if the actual words said were really lame. Being around super judgy teenage girls all the time made you used to that sort of thing.

“Well Nessie, I think you’ll make a great fit in this school! There’s plenty of everything here so you get sick of me, there’s always someone else hiding behind a corner somewhere waiting for you.” She told the other girl, completely believing in what she said.

“Sooo, where you from? Personally, I’ve always lived here so if you need directions or anything, just hit me up. I know almost everyone and almost every place in this town so I like to think I’m in the top four when it comes to that kind of thing.” Rena was a talker. That’s just what she did. Her mouth simply ceased to have a stop button and would just go on till someone began speaking themselves.

Nessie sighed. “I used to live back in New Orleans with my mother. I’ve just moved here.” It’s not a lie, though it’s not the full truth. Anything closer to a lie would be obvious and she knew that at this point. “At least there’s Art in this school.” She overdramatically sighed and leaned backwards on her chair. “You don’t know how many schools don’t.”

She thought on this new girl, Renata. She seemed nice, but Nessie knew enough to know appearances can be very, very decieving. At the least for now, she seemed like a useful ally. She’d learnt enough from old schools that having no friends just put you at a disadvantage, and she’d learnt her whole life that her advantages would be exploited.

She then remembered that she didn’t know when the lesson started. “Got any clue when Biology starts? Schedule I got didn’t clarify and as soon as next lesson comes, the better.”

Ross was doing his best to keep it together when he heard a rather chipper voice pointed in his direction. He looked up from his lap and his eyes settled on a rather perky looking girl, looking at him expectantly. Brows furrowed, he struggled to figure out what it is she could have wanted, but he was saved from having to respond when someone else came and took the pressure off of him. A small relieved sigh passed his lips as it seemed as if the focus was shifted away from him.

His foot tapped against the ground as he straightened up, hunched over his desk with his head propped up by a lazy arm. The conversation between the two girls seemed to enter his orbit, and he huffed exasperatedly before groping around in his pockets for his headphones. When his hands came up empty, Ross let out a groan. Not that either girl was being particularly annoying, but he was already on edge and he felt as if, by hearing their conversation, his... mind space was being invaded. Making it through the day without them seemed impossible. After pausing to think for a moment, he finally gave in and got up suddenly, off to go somewhere to clear his head or to waste some time instead of staying in class. When he got to the door however, the teacher was blocking his path, having just entered the classroom. The man, gave Ross an appraising look, almost as if surprised to even see him in the class, at all.

"Sit down, Hernández," the man commanded, motioning for Ross to do an about-face and return to his seat. The teen frowned, he teeth gritting together in a grimace before turning around and plopping back down in his seat, turning so that his entire body was facing the windows. If he was being forced to stay in this class, at least he could pretend that he wasn't...

"That's an excellent question... That I don't have the answer to." Renata probably could tattoo the time class started inside her eyelids and she somehow still would not remember. Again, not the sharpest knife in the knife drawer. She took a glance up at the clock on the wall. "I think... It starts in 5 or 10 minutes. It's one of those, for sure." Hopefully, she wouldn't be wrong. Renata was usually wrong but hopefully, this one time she wouldn't be. That wouldn't be the best first impression, not knowing when your own classes start. To be fair, physics was kind of the worst, so it'd be understandable at the very least.

Renata noticed Ross(?) suddenly stand up, looking fairly stressed out for whatever reason. Maybe he was worrying about Biology class? I mean, that was pretty stressful, especially if you're bad at it like Ren. But he didn't seem like the type to really care all that much about school, considering he never really seemed to work and always sat in the back most of the time. But again, he was a completely different species than her, thus making him unreadable, unpredictable, and all around strange to her.

This didn't make her feel any less bad when their biology teacher stopped Ross from leaving. Like, class hadn't even started and he wasn't allowed to leave? Sure, he probably wouldn't come back according to his reputation, but he seemed to be distressed by something and looked very upset as he sat back down by the window. That just didn't seem fair to her, keeping someone in class when something was obviously making him feel bad and possibly grumpy.

"Um, sir?" Ren called to the teacher. "He was telling me earlier that he was having some..." She paused briefly, trying to think up a lie that wouldn't be too outlandish and somewhat believable. "Stomach issues! Yeah, stomach issues. He wasn't feeling good and said his stomach was hurting. I think he was probably about to go to the nurse or the bathroom or something. I know class is about to start, but like, he might throw up in the classroom and that's kind of gross so you should probably let him go, I think." Renata wasn't the best liar but wanted to try and help her classmate, who she felt sy
mpathy for.

Eva was lost. That was the only one way to put it. Sure, maybe she had accidentally trotted down the wrong hallway looking for the classroom that she was supposed to be in, biology. But there she stood, in front of the janitors closet, staring at the rusting door as though it could have given her the answer to all her problems. She was anticipating a teacher to hunt her out, but after hearing the late bell ring for the final time, she knew that all hope in being given directions by a student was lost. She was ultimately regretting having woken up that morning, and would regret anything after having knocked on the janitor’s door.

“Er, excuse me... sir? May I ask for directions to the biology class?” Eva could hear the scrambling from inside of small space, the knocking down of objects that she assumed were once placed on shelves. She waited for a moment more, before meeting face-to-chin with a rather ghastly looking old lady.

“Who you calling ‘sir’, young lady?” The woman scoffed, her tone thick with adamant annoyance.

The woman seemed too elderly to even have the intent to work at such a broken-down place. The wrinkles across her leather face were deep and dark from what appeared to be a lack of sleep. The black dye in her hair seemed to be falling out, revealing the slightest tones of brown and grey. Though thin and sickly in appearance, her height was something intimidating to Eva. She could feel those charcoal eyes wearing into her, trying to tear her apart piece by piece. Before Eva could even open her mouth again to avoid scolding, the woman began to walk down the hallway. “Follow me, blondie.”

Taken aback, Eva followed the woman with the intent to apologize for her mistake she had made before. “Sorry, miss, I didn’t know that-“

“I’ve heard it all before, kid. Don’t need to hear it again.” The janitor’s molasses voice seemed a bit more softened, though still as much terrifying as it was before. She stopped in the middle of the hallway, turning to Eva for a moment. “Biology, you said?”

“Yeah! That’s it!” Eva gestured to the biology textbook in her arms. “It’s Mr... um...” She took a moment to rifile through the cabinets of her mind, searching for the man’s name. “Mr. Went?”

The janitor nodded, shaking her head as though she had heard that name too many times before. “Not that grouch, I reckon he won’t be happy to see you late to his class.”

Though alarmed, Eva followed along and listened as the woman went on about how bad this Mr. Went was. This only built up tension in her stomach, twisting, turning, unraveling and starting all over again from the start.

Was she ready for this? Could she even survive the second week of her new school when she couldn’t even remember where the hell her first class was? She could see it all crashing and burning before her, but if it did, maybe, just maybe, she could be booted back off to England again, and be somewhere she knew like the back of her hand.

Eva had been considering this for what seemed like hours, days even. Lost in time and stuck in space. There was so many things she wasn’t even used to. Didn’t even know about. Like, what in the bloody hell are french fries? She would often ask herself, though she was generally just curious.

“Hey, uh, kiddo? You been staring at that door for a while now. You feeling okay?”

Eva jumped in response to being pulled away from the maze of unanswered questions she had. And the janitor was right, she had been staring straight into the window of the class she was supposed to be sitting in. Maybe someone had seen her, staring in like a creep. This only fueled her desire to run home and cry herself in a nap. But instead of giving into her urge, she stifled up the remaining confidence she had and nodded.

“Thank you.. er.. I never caught your name, did I?” Eva chuckled at her lack of introducing oneself prior to doing anything else. It was almost as rude as she had ever been.

“Gretchen. Now, before I lose the rest of my marbles, get to class!” She ordered, pointing a bony finger toward the wood door.

“Right. You’re right.” Eva nodded, clutching the handle with white knuckles. “Thanks again.”

Turning the handle was the equivalent of nearly having a stroke in Eva’s mind. She was in no way ready to be scolded again for having been late to class. She knew that Mr. Went was a man with a very short temper and a large amount of fury to spread after his breaking point. And Eva wasn’t at all looking forward to it.

Upon entering the room and closing the door behind her with a silent click! , Eva found herself being the center of a majority of attention. She didn’t know how exactly late she was, and was t looking forward to being told. She stood there for a second, before ducking her head and finding a seat in the middle of the long array of desks.

“Ah, how nice of you to finally show up, Ms. Adams,” the man in plaid said sarcastically, rolling his eyes as the blonde put the rest of her items in her desk. “And as for the rest of you, and your lack of wanting to learn, you you would open your textbook to page-“

Usually the smell of sizzling bacon on the pan and hot coffee would bring a smile to Sebby's face, but it made him angry this morning. I bet that is her... acting like she was always a mother. The thoughts were as bitter as the milkless cup of black coffee Sebastian's supposed mother chugged every morning. Sebastian got up begrudgingly, sat on his bed and checked his social media, watched a few snap stories and browsed his friends on Instagram. He got lost in a blog post about trendy new hair tricks for men when he heard a petite knock on his door. "Um, Sebastian, I didn't know if you were coming down, so I brought you breakfast." Came a clear, girly voice from the other side of his door. Rudely, he loudly groaned, threw a pair of jeans on over his briefs and opened the door "Of course I'm coming down, the front door is down there?" He began speaking before he had even opened the door. The look on her face conveyed the hurt she felt whenever he would snap at her, for really no reason other than he was jealous that his mother was more of a mum to her than to Sebastian... her own damn son.

But it wasn't her fault was it?

"Sorry. I uh, didn't sleep well. Thanks." He took the plate from her and offered her a strained smile "I'll see you downstairs in a min." He muttered, before closing the door again. Back inside the room he looked down at the plate. Instinctively he wanted to just chuck it in the bin, but he forced himself to eat it. After forcing it down he got himself dressed and headed downstairs. His mother told him good morning as she sat at the dining room table sipping her coffee and wearing her PJs still. "I see you're in housewife costume again. Wouldn't it be great if we could all play pretend like you." He spat through his teeth. His mother opened her mouth to say something but shut it again just as quickly, and looked down at her coffee. Sebastian rolled his eyes and barged past her, chucking the plate loudly down on the table across from her.

Gabby was already waiting in the driveway for him, her hair tied into her usual two long braids. She smiled at him and waved "Can I give you a lift today?" She asked him. Sebastian wasn't in the mood to ride his bike so he shrugged and got in the passenger seat of her old, white Toyota Camry. She named the old rust bucket Cam. She loved the car despite the fact that it was a peice of shit. The drive was awkward and silent. A few times, Gabby tried to make conversation but her half-brother would only reply with short answers or gurnts.

Gabby was pretty torn up after the drive to school. What was it she was doing wrong? Both she and her father had been trying real hard to connect with him but it wasn't working. Okay so maybe her father was a little old fashioned and thought that, for a boy, he was too feminine, but it's not like he ever said anything that harsh, just some lighthearted jokes! Okay... she had to admit, she saw her father through rose coloured glasses sometimes. She made her way to her locker, only to see familiar face. She was still pretty new to the school but Kat was on her swim team she had joined as she was on the team in her last school. She only really did it as a hobby, although she was a very strong swimmer. "Oh, Kateryna are you okay?" She asked, concerned. The girl dusted herself off and some others around her snickered, so she glared at them. Other students did a bit of a better job at defending her. A young... lady? Called them 'Ratfuckers' in a... masculine voice. Gabby couldn't help but steal a glance at them. What a strange person! She thought to herself. If he had caught her looking, she would have given the... student a warm smile, hopefully conveying she wasn't disapproving, she was simply curious.

Her eyes went back to Kat again after the grey haired person had passed them by. "Do you know his name?" She asked in a low voice in case he was still nearby. "The guy who said... well... you know... to those guys who were laughing? I have never seen a person like him before!" She said with innocent wonder in her expression. As she talked she began walking towards the classroom expecting Kat would probably follow her.

Sebastian went pretty much straight by class today. The fact that his mother had cooked breakfast made his stomach churn. The last time she had made him food was when he was physically unable to do it himself. What a joke! There was no way he could focus in class today. He felt utterly and completely pissed off. He stood by his locker for a long time, untill all the students had vacated the hallway and entered their classrooms. He got a few texts from his 'friends' who were really just people at school he hung out with to fill the silence. Sebastian had very few friends he figured he'd still hang out with after he was done with school.

KAI KEAHI
KAI FINALLY WOKE UP FROM HIS TRANCE (NAP) AS THE TEACHER ENTERED THE CLASSROOM. MANY THINGS HAD HAPPENED WHILE HE WAS SLEEPING. SOMEONE TRIED TO DESPERATELY GET AWAY, FROM THE CLASS, AND IN ALL PROPER HONESTY, KAI DID NOT BLAME THEM. IF HE HAD THE GUTS, THE BOY WOULD BREAK THE NEAREST WINDOW AND JUMP THROUGH IT INTO OBLIVION, HOPING TO NEVER COME BACK TO THIS VERSION OF HELLHOLES. ANOTHER PERSON WAS DESPERATELY TRYING TO MAKE A CONVERSATION. KAI ON THE OTHER HAND, COULDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO PROPERLY OPEN HIS EYES. NUDGING HIS CHEEK, HE STRAIGHTENED HIS BACK AND LOOKED AT THE BLACKBOARD. OH? WHAT WAS THIS? SOME KIND OF AN UNFAMILIAR LADY HAD SPAWNED BEFORE THE CLASSROOM, CLEARLY DISTRAUGHT ABOUT THE SPOTLIGHT SHE WAS HAVING. HE COULD ALMOST SWEAR THAT THIS WAS THE DISNEY MOMENT THAT ONE SHOULD BURST OUT SINGING.

PUSHING HIS GLASSES BACK ON HIS NOSE, HE SCRUNCHED IT A FEW TIMES, JUST LIKE A BUNNY OF SOME SORTS WOULD DO. NEWCOMER? PERHAPS 'MISS ADAMS' WAS SOMEONE HE HAD JUST NOT SEEN? IT WASN'T LIKE HE WAS THE MOST OBSERVANT GUY AROUND WHEN IT CAME TO MEMORIZING FACES AND NAMES. NO MATTER HOW PRETTY AND HANDSOME YOU'D BE, HE'D STRUGGLE WITH YOUR NAME. HE'D ALMOST FORGET HIS OWN NAME MULTIPLE TIMES TOO. THE BOY LOOKED AT THIS NEW PERSON WITH A SARDONIC GAZE. FINALLY, HE WAS NOT MR. WENT'S FAVORITE STUDENT TO PICK ON ANYMORE! THE DESKS HAD TURNED!
