The Isepheus Flower, or the 'Rosebud of the Tiny'. With nine glass-like petals glowing light blue, it was a very delicate flower. Ninelle was very relieved they had managed to transport it all the way here without any damage, thanks to her studies on spatial magic finally bearing fruit.

Although it would die in the end by her hand, all that was needed now was what was stored inside. A little anxious about its freshness fading if she took too long, she kept her distance and gripped her bracer, carefully summoning vines to hold the flower above Deli's head. As the petals wilted in her vines' grip, an iridescent green powder fell from their grasp, softly fluttering down and enveloping the elf's form.

The shift was rather... sparkly. It was like a magical girl transformation, with Deli's form glittering like stars before finally shrinking in size to match her own.

"Deli... it worked." Ninelle smiled, a little speechless and giddy from excitement. She could normally only see his entire form like if she was hovering like 20 metres away. "You look so small now." She teased, though fully aware that even when shrunk, he was still unfortunately taller than her. It was a similar height difference to when she was in her Xue form. "Do you feel okay?"

A painful part of her itched to run up and embrace him. But though she had subconsciously taken a step forward, she immediately stepped back to maintain their distance, not at all willing to endanger his health for such selfishness. "If only this could've been done before... everything happened." She trailed off for a second, before hurriedly smiling. "It's fine though. We're finally here. Let's make the most of it."

"I'm a bit nervous. It's been so long. Do you think they'll forgive me for neglecting them for so long?"
She couldn't help but ramble about her worries fretfully, fidgeting with her hands slightly. "Ah, when you're ready you can part the bushes and enter. I've already undone the barrier for you." She smiled softly, standing with her hands behind her back a fair distance away.

Deliverance, presumably being his 'normal' self again after the ritual and in need of an RP worth of ret-conning soon if he's not, was glad to finally be on his way with Ninelle towards her home village. Now that he was cured, he did feel some hurt whenever Ninelle got too close, but did his best not to show it and to just use the healing magic he'd studied to undo it. It was a small price to pay for love. To that extend he was more concerned about making her worry too much about it.

Feeling himself shrink was almost bringing back some traumatic memories of becoming a crab. The moment he finished shrinking, he double... triple... quadruple-checked.

Miniverance

“It did... I'm mostly glad I'm not a crab.” He had to admit. Yet with that worry faced, he did look at Ninelle. “You seem so much larger... well, I'm smaller, but... comparatively.” It was really odd to meet her at the same height. Or well, almost the same height.

He checked his fingers, limbs... All seemed good. “I'm perfectly fine, it seems.” He'd nod at her words, although he did have something to add. “We can do it again once we sort out the last few things. Or now. I did manage to study up on healing magic well enough.” There was no way he was even close to giving up on returning Ninelle to normal as well. He did also have some curiosity regarding what it might be like to hug her, although he also hesitated a bit. His first hug with her with her in her original size might become a very physically painful one. Probably not ideal.

As for whether or not they'd forgotten Ninelle, Deliverance wasn't sure. “I don't know, but I imagine a whole lot might have changed. Just brace yourself, in case things have changed too much, perhaps?” He was never good with these things.

He'd nod when she told him to part the bushes and enter. “Very well.” It probably was best he'd go first. In case the worst had happened, he might at least prepare her for it.

"Aha, you reminded me. I forgot I became you for a while." Ninelle smiled at the crabverance mention, though it grew a little sadder as she recalled the feeling of the scars that littered his body. "You probably can see all my parts a little easier now too. My body keeps getting more and more complicated now that I think about it." She sighed. First, half of her body was replaced by a sleek pale metal. And now she has all these rotting vines and leaves and bark and petals in and around her too? Gosh. "There's probably no one that fits the term 'abomination' more than me." She scratched her cheek thoughtfully, trying not to let her thoughts get her too down as the way forward began to be revealed.

Still, his clumsy words of comfort made her giggle, half-breaking the deep breath she was intaking in mental preparation. "Thank you Deli." She giggled gently, before finally looking ahead to see what her hometown had become.

On first glance, it was a complete wasteland. Barren of life, with a gaping crater in the ground that spanned extensively across the earth, especially considering their current size. The crumbled debris of rotting mushroom capped houses and buildings littered the scenery, surrounded by wilted yellow grass and plants, shrivelled up and brittle to the touch. A significant portion of the large tree that remained in the village's centre, as well as the scattered fallen branches around it, had turned grey, like petrified stone.

"Ah. It looks the same as I left it."

Ninelle's soft voice broke the silence, accompanied by a deep, shaky sigh of relief. Before she knew it, she was crying, with ugly trails of dark and monstrous tears that fell from her dull, inhuman eyes.

Since that fateful day that felt like centuries ago, when she first became a fae see hero, she had avoided this land for fear of bringing it harm. Her homesickness had long settled into a dull, almost imperceptible ache. And it was now realized, it had never quite left her. It had been so long. Too long. She felt emotionally shaken to her core, seeing the mirages of the family and friends that once walked and flew around this land with her. She gasped in between her breaths, wiping her tears, although her eyes never strayed from her fallen home, scanning every familiar detail silently.

It felt like so long ago now, but she once spent almost two decades never once stepping foot out of this village. No matter what it had become now, it was home. Countless memories littered this land. It was so indescribably comforting, she didn't even know what to say.

"Y-you see, this is why I wasn't too worried too much a-about entering with my curse." She managed to eek out a few words in between her tears with a small smile, her sobbing causing her to stutter slightly.

“It was a rather odd sight.” He'd reply, when Ninelle reminded him of the time she'd become him. He'd nod upon the mention of seeing her more clearly. It was definitely another type of odd sight. Slightly disturbing, perhaps. Yet also fascinating. “I can see why you'd say as much.” He wouldn't deny the obvious abomination sights. “Although you must've been extraordinarily beautiful, as even in your current state, I'd not exactly consider you ugly.” He'd casually remark, as he looked her up and down. It was weird. You'd normally be grossed out and disturbed by sights like this, but he couldn't say he was. He wondered why that might be, but his only working theory was that she'd simply been so gorgeous that a few race shifts couldn't ruin that. “Still, let's try to make next attempt at curing you work out.”

The Fairy village he walked into was... well, it was about the type of thing he'd been prepared for. The only thing that he didn't prepare for, however, was that Ninelle knew about this already. He wasn't sure what to say. Had she hoped for people to have returned? For the Spirit King to have restored this place? Questions and dealings like these were far beyond his area of expertise. Even beyond his area of comfort.

On the topic of comfort, seeing Ninelle distressed made him want to comfort her. Even he, as he was, had spotted she'd wanted to hug him a bit ago. Should he do so now? He decided against it. He was afraid. Not because of the fact he might suffer from touching her, that could be healed, but because he knew he couldn't replace what she'd lost here. He wasn't sure how any attempt to comfort her would be taken. When she spoke again, he'd nod. A bitter reality.

Trying to figure out what he should do, he could only thing of one thing. “Why don't you tell me more about how this place used to be?” He asked her. It might be a bittersweet memory, but hoped it'd help with the processing of all of this. Somehow. He wasn't sure if that was what you were supposed to do, but it was his best effort.

"Where do I even begin..." Ninelle chuckled softly, thankful for his direction yet still lost on the overwhelmingness of it all. Slowly trying to hold still her shaking hands and catch her breath, her smile remained sad yet nostalgic, lost in the memories of her very beginning.

"I've always thought of this place as a paradise. My dream. Something too good to be true." She began vaguely, her tone light yet still haunting, compulsory as the monster she had become. "When I first died in my old world and was brought here, I couldn't believe my eyes. The people here were so kind. So lively. And so gentle to the me that was so lost on everything."

She took a deep breath, realizing she'd really have to spill everything all at once in order to give him the full picture, even if just in a convuluted ramble. "You see, in my old world, I was bedridden all my life. I felt endless guilt for the family that spent so much in trying to save me. But there was no hope, and in the end, it was my very brother that unplugged my life support." She smiled wistfully at the memory, recalling the deep anguish and grief in those eyes so very similar to her own as he killed her. "I couldn't blame him of course, watching my parents grow thinner every time they came over was destroying me too. I think at that point, I was just a burden that had to go."

"But... here I had a healthy body. I couldn't believe it. I could move, jump, sing and dance, even fly. Aha, I even remember at first, I was like a baby fawn that had just discovered its legs: I had to be supported wherever I went."
She giggled warmly, recalling the amount of times she'd trip over nothing or have to be hoisted over people's shoulders for support. "But the people here were so kind... no matter how pathetic I was. Teaching me everything I know, loving me even though they knew deep down, I was not one of their own." She hummed, closing her tired eyes for a moment before looking out once more.

"Everyone helped each other without a second thought. It was just so natural, like one big loving family. Learning about all the festivals was always so fun, and going glowbug racing with all my closest friends every night was always a joy." Soft sniffles escaped her as the warmest memories locked away came flooding back.

"I miss it. I really do. But I know deep down, even if they all came back to life now... there is no going back to how things used to be." She smiled sadly, scrunching up and wrinkling the petals of her undead skirt as she spoke of her most painful realization. After all... she had died four more times, become a hero and even found a lover, all in her long and cold ventures outside of this place.

"The world has changed so much. And I... have changed too much." Her words trailed off into nothingness, knowing deep down... this place was nothing but a graveyard now. A graveyard of who she once loved and cherished, as well as who she once was.

It seemed he'd guessed well on what best to do next when asked her to tell him about the village. Deliverance would silently listen to her stories, as he tried to imagine it. This place, but filled with fairies. He was surprised to learn more about the Ninelle from before this life as well. It sounded like it hadn't been the greatest, to say the least. Still hearing the type of place in which she arrived here was a very big contrast to how he arrived here, yet where she'd lost it all, he'd only gained things from that low-point at which he started.

When she finished, he was at a loss for words. Saying it sounded like it was a lovely place would be the obvious thing to do, perhaps, but even with his best effort, it was tough to imagine a place like that. It'd feel a bit disingenuous to praise something based on what little he could try picture of it.

He couldn't deny some things had changed too much either. They had. “We're still here, we've just got to direct our changes.” He'd suggest, as he still wanted to turn her back to normal.

In the end, he decided to just try focus on some of the topics she'd mention. “Glowbug racing..? Do you have them compete amongst each-other, or do you compete against them yourself?” That was one of the things he wondered about. “Flying in general must be rather peculiar to get used too. Some students in the Ethereal Luminary use items enchanted with Flight Magic, often brooms for some odd reason, as I can't imagine those to be comfortable.”

"Mm." At his words, all she made was a gentle sound of affirmation as she wiped her tears. Yet at her core, Ninelle still struggled to accept it, to just... leave it all behind as a mere memory. Maybe she just needed to find a new place she could feel she belonged to. After all, neither the Fae See nor the Otenzian Empire had ever felt much like home.

"It must be hard for you to imagine, but we rode them like mounts, sitting on their carapaces whilst racing around town. Sometimes we'd use the ways you mentioned, but it was more common like that." She explained her glowbug racing days thoughtfully with a hoarse voice, never once believing as a human, that she'd find herself saddling up on a giant bug of all things one day.

At his comment on flight, she could only smile dryly. "Indeed it is. Especially with a body that keeps on changing." She shakily sighed with a stiff rotation of her shoulders, wincing slightly at the feel of her bark creaking and the rotten vines swaying with the motion. "Magic brooms were a staple in the fantasy novels I read in my old world, so it's funny to hear that's mirrored here as well." She chuckled at the thought, wondering if she could try it one one day, just to see what's it like.

Though still sniffling slightly, with her left eye red and swollen, she clapped her hands together. "Ah, we should get moving though. I could easily get back into my habit of moping around here all day. I'll show you around a little... before taking you somewhere important. Watch your step." She giggled softly, trying to focus on the joy of finally being able to show Deli her hometown.

Leading the shrunk elf along the right side of the crater's edge, the earth was dangerously cracked and uneven, with large and sharp dagger-like stones cropping up everywhere, but to Ninelle, all she could see, was how in her time away, wind and rain had so heavily weathered these dangers down.

"For a village, Ilhaya was laid out pretty sporadically. But we had three main regions we put things under." She began softly, acting a bit like a tour guide, walking a fair distance ahead whilst bringing attention to various details. "Shruben, the most quaint and peaceful part of town, hidden in the shade beneath all the shrubbery." She looked at the barebones earth, barely a speck of vegetation left behind, knowing it must be hard to imagine how much this now yellow land once flourished a verdant green.

"Grasette, the warm open area in the sunlight, surrounded by tall grass, if not hand-carved pavements and wooden statues." She glanced to her left with a brief pause. "That was um... kinda the region were the crater is now, so it's a little hard to point out." She scratched her cheek sheepishly, faintly recalling the extensive, fantastical yet natural architecture that once existed here, before moving on.

Finally arriving before the big tree, she walked inside a fair bit without hesitation, allowing Deli to enter without risking her aura harming him. The giant jagged holes and scratch marks spoke of a violent history, yet also an endurance, considering the tree somehow still stood strong, if petrified. "And finally, Branchelis. Denoting the areas once built on the branches or within the hollow trunk of the Central Oak. They were usually kinda grouped together because of how few actually lived within the tree." She smiled, her gaze passing over all the fallen platforms and debris that surrounded them, and where they fell from.

Focusing back on the elf however, she put her hands together as a fun idea came to her head. "Hey Deli, why don't you try and guess which region I lived in?" She smiled mirthfully, wondering how the ever logical Deliverance would go about such a query.

“Rode them like mounts...” She was right, that was tough to imagine. That said, thinking of the glowbugs being big enough to ride, he just realised something. Perhaps a bit late. “Spiders, frogs... chickens... Birds of prey. All those most be absolutely terrifying when you're this small.” He looked up to the sky. Just to check if there wasn't something ready to come and eat them. “How are you not paranoid something's out to get you all the time?” It was as if the realisation had literally just sunk in. Mostly because it had.

On the topic of flight, he shook his head. “I think I heard some stories about using brooms as well, but even then they didn't make sense. If I had to pick something to enchant with Flight, I'd rather pick a comfortable chair or perhaps a desk to study whilst travelling. Brooms seems like the weirdest, most random and perhaps even the least sensible option. Even the carpets I heard about would seem more sensible.” He replied to her. Some people just didn't pick the sensible flight options, he felt.

He'd nod when she offered to show him around, following along. When he was asked to guess where she'd lived, he needed to put some thought in it. “You said many people aided you and that you were active with a lot of banter, like Glowbug racing. I'd say that suggests Grasette. Also due to ruling out Branchelis, as you said you couldn't fly well. That place would be tough to live in without good flight, from the sounds of it. Ruling out Shruben due to it sounding like a less likely place for someone new to find so much activity and joy.” He'd gone through his usual analytical ways of trying to solve a question.

That said, he did have a question of his own. “Grass, Shrubs... Branches. Are you attempting to translate the Sylvan into more literal versions of their Common meaning? I do speak Sylvan, if you wish to give me their native names.”

"Well, I used to be a human, in my old world at least." Ninelle smiled funnily at his question. "Even if just through the window, I once saw how small all that fauna really was. Hence why I was always a bit better than the other fairies in my village when it came to threats like that." Her body quietly turned towards the treeline, behind the Central Oak. "Not that I was never afraid. It took me months to take my first step outside of this village, back then." Her smile slowly turned wistful, only able to faintly recall the terrible pain and nerves she had to deal with alone back then. Ilhaya was once her everything, as she was constantly warned about the dangers outside and barred from wandering out there. She had never questioned it, and yet she had no choice once everyone died.

"I couldn't remember this when I first awoke, but, I actually used to fight back then too, as one of the village's guardians. Even though most of the memories I retained were of me just growing and taking care of plants." Her consequent chuckle was low but genuine, vaguely remembering how shocking that realization was, despite how strangely familiar her various forms of offensive magic had felt prior.

At his thoughtful conclusion on her place of residence, Ninelle merely grinned, her wings fluttering slightly in amusement. "Let's go with that then." Her giggle was vague, almost teasing, pausing for a moment before giving the big reveal. "There is no wrong answer here really. I actually moved around a lot and lived with a bunch of different people." Ninelle revealed finally, slowly moving deeper in towards the very back of the tree, where the giant pile of petrified wooden detritus lay and spilled outside. "The first place I lived was here actually, in the Central Oak, with the village chieftain sheltering me for a while." She glanced towards the large remains of his home, now split into red fragments of rotting mushroom caps and stalks. "He was such a goof. So lively and fun. Yet so incredibly rational and farsighted when it mattered most."

Humming thoughtfully at Deli's consequent question, the undead-cyborg fairy's gaze stilled slightly. "It's fine. Their sylvan names are obselete now, and for good reason." She stated gently as if to pass over the matter, her wings immediately beginning to whirr with both a mechanical hum and gruesome crunch as she lightly took to the air. She hovered just outside the top of the giant hole at the back of the tree, taking in a sight Deliverance could not witness from his current angle, obscured by all the towering debris.

"Do you think you could climb up this pile of wood? There's a sight up here I want to show you."

Ninelle called out softly, her tone somewhat vague, faint and hard to get a read on. Past the colourful remains of mushroom cap buildings, flower-like lanterns, decorative ivy and cracked platforms, was the huge debris of the Central Oak's walls itself, enormous and intimidating, yet not unscalable considering its petrification and many flat protrusions.

“Likewise.” He added, when Ninelle mentioned she was Human once. It wasn't the most surprising. The next bit was. “Even when they were much smaller than me, I did always feel some unease with spiders. Or with how ferocious chickens could be when going after an insect. I think I once heard they stem from the dinosaurs?” He wasn't sure if that was true or not, but they could surely act the part. Little raptors. “I can see why.” He still didn't feel comfortable with not checking the skies every so often.

He simply nodded when she mentioned having been a guardian. That too, wasn't the most surprising to him. “How would you take care of plants when they're so much larger? Watering them must be a lot of effort.” Being this small really was giving him a much different perspective on just about anything.

He would nod when she explained where she'd lived. His analytical brain had fallen for her trick question, but he decided not to ponder too much on it. “Obsolete for good reason?” Even if she wished to pass over the matter, it only got him more curious. Even if it wasn't his area of expertise, he was a Scholar. Most things considered obsolete might still be somewhat worthwhile. He doubt the names would relate to the Ethereal though.

That's when she challenged him. “I can try.” He replied, as he looked at the mountain ahead. Or that's at least what it felt like. He really wasn't easily getting used to being this small. Well, try he would and try he should. So that's what he did, trying to climb up there.

The climb was long and risky, but not unmanageable, even for the thin and more bookworm sort that Deliverance was. Ninelle watched over him carefully from afar, her hand remaining on her ire bracer in case she needed to cast some rescue or recovery magic, although part of her mind seemed somewhat distracted, her eyes idly wandering towards the distance outside at times subconsciously.

Finally, at the crest of the ruined hill of debris, Deliverance would be able to see what it was Ninelle was looking at.

A graveyard. With more than a hundred little graves, laid across the rotten grassland.

"It's ugly isn't it? They're not as orderly as I would've liked... at the time I was still adjusting to my metal parts." The fairy smiled softly yet wistfully, recalling her days of working through the wind and rain just to account for everyone. "Many I could not find, and I don't know if that's just because... there was nothing left of them." She mentioned delicately, before floating forward, her thoughts wandering.

"Although we're a small village at heart, we had quite the numbers." She hummed with a sudden amusement, slowly taking into account just how many had been buried here. "The generation before us had a lot of children. I didn't really know any families with less than four children, actually." She thought back, never quite registering the baby boom that must've happened before she arrived, wondering what caused it.

"You know. I always thought I'd end up like them. Living a peaceful life and having a big family..." She trailed off, before shaking her head at the little daydreams younger Ninelle used to have. "Anyway, you can come down now. Take your time. There are a few people here I'd like to visit... and then we can go elsewhere. Are you hungry?" She asked carefully, hoping she wasn't boring the elf too much. Although this was a very intimate and dear land to herself, she knew deep down that no one could share in those feelings with her. She already felt terrible dragging him all the way here to be honest.

After the mountaineering exercise, Deliverance was not exactly greeted with the type of view he was prepared for. He had no clue what to say on this. “I... think the fact this had to happen is ugly... I'm not sure if the graveyard is.” That's the best he could offer as reply to her. He was far from an expert and seeing a sight like this was making something in him feel weird. Like there was something stuck in his throat and stomach.

The thought of Ninelle having to bury so many people all by herself... It made a shiver run down his spine. “I'm sure you helped them pass on peacefully.” He wasn't the most religious, but he did like to believe there was something more than the mundane to the act of having buried all these people.

When she mentioned children, he wondered. “Do you still want a big family?” He tried to imagine four even smaller Ninelle's. Without the layers of curses, abomination and whatnot. “Fairy children must be really tiny.” That was the only conclusion he could verbalise. The other things going through his mind, he was too hesitant to speak up about.

He nodded when she told him to come down, as he'd carefully climb all the way down again. When she asked if he was hungry, he shook his head. “Not in the slightest.” He'd rather lost his appetite, as it still felt like there was something weird stuck in his stomach. “It's as if there's something weird stuck in my throat and stomach.” He stated, rather literally, what he felt. “It's odd.”

Lowering herself to match Deli's elevation, Ninelle smiled softly at his mention of helping them pass on peacefully. "Thank you, I hope so too. It's hard because my memory is a bit fragmented, but I still try to remember all of their individual goals, wishes and ambitions... and reach them for them." She began warmly, before pointing towards one of the graves in the distance, with wilting red petals still scattered over it. "Like Rin, over there, one of my best friends, her dream was always to see the world. So I try to gather what courage I can to get out there and see the sights more, for her." She smiled fondly.

At his question on still wanting a big family, the fairy stiffened, unsure herself really. "I uhm... don't know." She responded after a pause, her gaze growing a little more forlorn as she pondered it. "As much as having little Delis running around would be cute... I don't think I can biologically have children anymore." She chuckled sadly. As pathetic and silly as it felt at the time, it was one of her first realizations back then... being destroyed and made metal from the chest down... meant any hope of that kind of thing was thrown out the window, and gone forever. "We could always adopt or something though. I don't mind if you want them." She comforted tentatively, not really thinking he would, considering his one-track mind towards the ethereal and his research, but just in case.

"Oh no, are you not feeling well? Do you want to sit down for a bit?" Landing quickly back on the ground a fair distance away after he had climbed down, she asked about his health in a hurry, her tone laced with an anxious concern. She wanted to check on him more closely, but she wouldn't dare risk coming any closer.

"We can skip the graveyard portion if it's making you feel queasy. I already feel a bit better just being able to see them all still sleeping peacefully and in good condition." Ninelle reassured, genuine with her words. It was fine, really. Seeing them well was all she needed.

Deliverance was surprised to learn that Ninelle apparently still knew so much about everyone in the village. “I'm surprised you'd try remember so much about all of them.” He wasn't entirely sure why she did so, but left out that bit of the question. “If we do venture to the Moon, one day, you could see the world in its entirely from there.” He'd suggest, as that seemed to be the best way to see the world.

“Little... ” He stopped in his track. The idea of a child version of him was a lot more concerning than a child version of Ninelle. What if they'd grew up like he did? “Perhaps... not.” Although there was one thing he did know. “I'm not giving up on having you return to normal. I hope you won't give up either.” He spoke with a fair deal of conviction.

The next bit, however, he would nod at. “Adoption. That might be a good option. If we are ever in a stable situation where we can provide a good growing-up environment.” He seriously debated it for a bit. Then decided to let it rest otherwise.

He shook his head when she told him to sit down or stop visiting the graveyard.“No, it's alright. I wish to see this through with you. It's just... a weird feeling I'm not sure I experienced like this. Yet I don't think it's physiological as much as it might be mental. So don't worry. Please, allow me to continue joining you.” He wasn't entirely sure why, but something felt really important about completing this with Ninelle.
