Thaddeus McMillan.jpg

Name: Thaddeus Ferdinand McMillan aka "The Archbishop of Despair"
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Appearance: Standing in at 6'2" tall and weighing 180 pounds, Thaddeus is a slim man, but the wicked glint in his eyes leaves everyone trembling.

Personality: Thaddeus is a conniving twat of an individual. He looks at everyone else as an enemy to be surpassed and crushed beneath the weight of despair and hopelessness. He is immovable in his belief that everyone shall succumb to their weakness and drown in misery, to the point that he's proud of his acceptance of the inevitably bad events. He's considered insane based off his beliefs, but the more someone talks with him the more they believe.

A lone wolf by the nature of his pessimism, Thaddeus has worked to make himself as close to the highest quality of human possible. Athletic and intelligent, he's proven that it doesn't matter where you come from, but how hard you work that matters, though he'll openly say it's just accepting the inevitable that leads to success. He is a nearly compulsive liar, saying whatever it takes to get people to trust him so he can plunge the blade into their back without remorse. He's a cruel human aiming to tear the world apart at its seams. But maybe that's just because he hasn't had someone to show him the light.

Home Town:
Miriam

Brief Bio:

Born into Miriam, Thaddeus already had his work cut out for him. He was starting life off at the bottom of the barrel, but as a child he was full of hope and confidence that he'd be able to escape mediocrity one day. He studied hard and worked hard in everything he did up through school. However, there was one problem. There was always someone better than him. If he got a 98 on an exam someone else got a 99. If his 50 meter run came back at 6.03 seconds someone did it in 6 seconds flat. He was never the star that could garner attention and even though he was talented, he never was recognized.

This overwhelming sense of defeat at every turn took the hope that Thaddeus had clung to and destroyed it. With no other choice, he embraced despair, expecting the worst things to happen and telling everyone else the "Gospel of Despair." Suddenly, Thaddeus started showing up on people's radars. Those people that were "better" than him had succumb to despair and lost all hope of getting out of Miriam. At the end of his high school year, Thaddeus was able to leave Miriam and got to Alliyon to study. He chose not to. In a city like Alliyon he couldn't succeed with through despair.

He became a conman. He would begin rants about how despair would consume them and tear down people's lives unless they paid for some "magic stones" that could protect their fragile sense of hope. He made a killing off of this, enough to move over to Alliyon. Now he had his achievement, but it was all thanks to the empty fact that nothing mattered. He knew someday, there'd be a greater conman than he. He wallowed in the idea that his only chance for freedom was to hoard enough money that when that day came, he'd be set to step away from it all and wallow in an empty shell of despair and misery.

Destined Soulmate: Snow Bellard

Weapon: This part is optional. If you choose to give your character a weapon, it must be noted somewhere in the 'Brief Bio', as it would not make sense for your character to randomly own a dangerous weapon right out of the blue.
Dormant Power(s): You may pick up to three powers that align with your character's respective pairing.

1. Taste my Despair: Almost everything Thaddeus has purposefully tried to do in life has failed. He gives everyone a taste of that by reflecting abilities and projectiles back at the sender so long as he holds up his hand towards the incoming attack.

2. There's Always Someone Better: Any physical impact Thaddeus takes is stored away as energy for him to use in his own physical attacks. (Though he still takes the damage) He shows people the truth, there is ALWAYS someone better than you.

3. All is Lost: Thaddeus's partner is able to figure out where he is based on a "hot and cold" feeling. The further she gets away from Thaddeus the more filled with despair she becomes. This ability only triggers when She's looking for him.

Other:
Thaddeus knows how to play the violin, can cook, and has followers to his "faith" all over Miriam. They call him the "Archbishop of Despair" and buy into his hope stones gimmick.

Home Town: Osakange
Destined Soulmate: Kiroshiven Kiroshiven ‘s character Thaddeus Ferdinand McMillan

Personality:
Snow is a quiet girl. Not as in she doesn’t speak but that she is content with just sitting and smiling and listening. She hardly ever screams or is completely extroverted. But she is a sweet girl who just wants to make friends. She is overly considerate, getting anxiety attacks when she thinks she is being a burden on someone. She longs for adventure, for travels. And of course, she is hopeful. She hopes for the best in people and things making her extremely naive.

Bio:
Snow grew up in Osakange in the walled gardens of her family’s estate. They were extremely prejudiced against outsiders and extremely strict. Snow was never allowed off the grounds until she turned 16. Her only hobby was gardening and bringing new life to the dark world she was trapped in.

When she turned 16 and was allowed to attend school, Snow was so hopeful of all the possibilities she would be able to have. The friends she could make! But… well it wasn’t like she thought. They were cruel to others. They bullied at the drop of a hat. They thought they were better than anyone and anything. Snow once made the mistake coming home to her parents of asking to visit the other towns. No. They were dirty. They were poor. Osakange was proud and kept anything it didn’t like out…

Snow saw how easy it was for her own parents to decide people and things had no place in their home. She tried harder from that day on to be extra nice, extra respectful, just… better. She feels as if she needs to earn her place for she grew up knowing her place was not a given.

But she is hopeful… hopeful that maybe one day she will meet people who can laugh and love and dream and accept… someone who will make her hopes reality.

Dormant Power(s):
  1. Hope for the Future: Snow has the ability to heal her wounds at an accelerated rate. She cannot heal broken bones immediately, those take a couple hours and death shots of course cannot be healed.
  2. Thread of Hope: The ability to create a feeling of intense hope in an idea or cause if she is making eye contact or touching someone.
  3. All you have is Hope: Her partner is always able to find her based on a “hot or cold” feeling. The closer they go the more hope they feel on finding her. Only works if she is lost and the Partner is actively trying to find her. Because you always have hope even if you have nothing else.
Other:
The stoic philosopher Seneca said this about hope, “Cease to hope … and you will cease to fear.’ … Fear keeps pace with hope … both belong to a mind in suspense, to a mind in a state of anxiety through looking into the future. Both are mainly due to projecting our thoughts far ahead of us instead of adapting ourselves to the present.”

But Snow doesn’t buy that.

Why we have fear is because we want what we hope for to happen. And we fear it won’t. But... the reason why things happen is because someone dared to hope for it.
If you just hope then you will accomplish nothing. It is making that hope a reality and going after it. Snow’s abilities can make something hopeful, but it all depends on if the person is strong enough to act on their own and not just rely on hope itself.
