Dice Dual Worlds

Heya all~ Or just the GM whatevs.

I've got two charas in the works, hope they're interesting. I'll post em when they're finished.

@Jaye you can just use your private workshop and work on your profiles till your done, so you don't have to break one of the rules. I do it all the time for big profiles that take me some time to fill in.

I have a High Concept and Trouble Aspect, but could use some opinion on if they are to connected, and a better phrasing perhaps, for the trouble, should I just post them here?

(Should I do two characters, did I (again) miss some post?)

@bluesky you can message me or put it here, and you are allowed 2 characters. Though anymore and it might put too much strain on you and possibly me.

Way ahead of you, buddy - I'm currently in my Private Workshop working on one. Ack damn sorry. Did not realise WIP was against the rules. My bad. Alternatively - if I finish all of my character except for the dice rolls, would I be allowed to post that? (My cat is asleep on my dice and I prefer to roll physically, given the chance).

@Jaye I would prefer it if you used RPN's dice mechanic, just to make you or anyone doesn't cheat with their rolls. (I mentioned it in the mechanics tab, but I can understand if you haven't read it yet, considering it isn't quite finished yet)

Here it is:

High Concept: Exceptional Trauma Surgeon.

Trouble Aspect: Of course. I am correct!

(not sure how to shortly phrase the below)

(In his work life Dav takes snap decision, often without all the facts, so he has to be correct, after all someone’s life is on the line. This bleeds into his daily routine and life)

Having made up his mind Dav is hard to budge, most of the time anyway, because he knows best.

I'll make do with a single character.

@Detective Rascal

Hey-o ~ uwu !

I just have a couple of quick questions.

Sorry if these are explained somewhere, but I have to leave for class soon. Dx

Are you going to be adding any information regarding... Taz, was it?

Or can we assume that it's a pretty generic city?

And the other is, if you don't mind me asking, what time zone are you in? cx

I think ours may be drastically different.

@bluesky I'm actually fine with both, so you have the a-okay.

@Pine I live in Australia, and where I am exactly the timezone is GMT +8. I'm usually on the opposite side of things for American players, up during the night for American guys and down for the count during the day for Americans.

Also, the city's name is Tenza, but you weren't far off considering I have Tasmania in my country. It's a pretty generic city, but I am going to be posting more information on it once I've finished with the mechanics thread.

@GM no worries - RPN Dice it is. Quicker than waiting for my cat, anyway. (Should... we include the dice roll thingy in the CS post? I have not actually used RPN's dice roller before).

@Pine - sometimes I wish RPN had a little "Timezone" section.

EDIT: ( :D ) «waves @Detective Rascal from the other side of the country»

@Jaye I was tempted to include a dice log thread, so people would have a place to put all their dice rolls, and I may just do it anyway. But you can just head to the dice section of the site, and do a roll in there, for practice so you know what your doing.

WA Rules!!!

In the dice log you'll be able to make a post and then roll the dice on your post, which is pretty cool. Just include the scores in your cs, but your allowed to choose where each dice score goes.

Woah. I'm so glad I used the site roller otherwise I don't think anyone would believe that I rolled two twenties.

Hm... lemme see how I can insert it in the CS. It might slot in nicely.

@Jaye[/URL], you don't need to put in the actual log of the dice roll into the profile, just the score of what you got.
But the log is pretty~~ And... it's coding sadly overlaps with the side=left coding <_< urgh.

But yeah so much of that space would just be blank otherwise - the log is a good enough thing to put there.

@Jaye, you have no idea how much the side code annoys me. I love it, but I can't put any progress bars next to it because it just glitches over it. If it didn't glitch out, all my bars would be there.

I will have a dice log thread up soon though, so once that is up you can throw your logs in there if you want.

Wait what? Oh right - over it. I was about to be all "You can totes put a progress bar within the side code". Yea - very pretty but not the most practical of codes, sadly.

Posted the first character! I hope I organised it correctly. I'm learning a lot in a short amount of time. (DR - send a convo if there's anything up, yeah?)

«sees alerts» Oo! Oo! (o'v'o)

@Detective Rascal

Ahaha, I figured you were in some land far far away.

I guess we'll mostly be seeing each other on the weekends, then. lol

Gah, Tenza.

Sorry, I was on my phone and was too lazy to check lmfao.

That sounds a lot better than what I said.

Duly noted.

But okay, cool, cool.

I'll hopefully start working on my character, but I already have homework to do.

*ugly sobs about quantitative methods*

@Jaye

Mmmmm, where are you thinking this would go, exactly?

I guess right now the best substitute we have is the "location" thing we have for our profiles, and people can choose whether or not they want to share their location there.

Yeah the problem I find with the 'Location' is that people can set it to... whatever. I mean I've only looked at a few people's profiles so far (maybe 4 or 5?) but none of them had their actual Location. So none were actually useful in determining when/where they where. Having location as a drop-down menu or having a separate timezone option seems helpful. I don't know if XenFero (I think is who hosts?) has that kind of capability, though.

I don't think too many people are willing to give out their location, and really, I can't blame them.

At this point, I'll tell people where I live if they ask, but I'm still not 100% comfortable when I tell people I don't know that well (and may just be vague or troll them out of me having to respond).

I think putting a timezone in the information tab on a profile would be best, but yeah, I'm not entirely sure how plausible that would be with XenForo.

You could always put it up as a suggestion if you'd like?

I'd happily share my timezone, because that's a lot more practical.

Yeah, that security is why I only really put down 'Australia'. It's practical for the most part (despite... that technically covering about 3 timezones?) But yeah - no one even puts down a vague timezone. Jut knowing someones country is usually enough. Hm... yeah maybe I'll put it in as a suggestion.

So~ fun fact I finished up a second character! I'm... gonna wait until someone else posts a character, though. It feels a little awkward throwing two characters in so quick. (Detective Rascal - I can PM you the CS if you want to see it before I post it properly).

Also ah ha my rolls were not nearly as good this time around! Check it:

[dice]10966[/dice] A 2! Gah!
