Dreams of the Second Age

Don't worry about it. You are expected to be able to walk over most of your targets at this power level. When you run into Deathlords (which I'm planning on doing, by the way), you will need every Charm you can get your hands on to come out alive. As I said before, this is more a nation building game than a low level hack and slash game.

I know your pain about antagonists. I was in your position earlier for my game. I literally had to make my antagonists unkillable unless through a convoluted charm.

If you're overwhelming 13, and I'm guessing that you got 31 normal damage dice before soak, meaning you get 1 after soak. That means that you roll 13 dice of damage rather than 31 since 1 is less than the overwhelming tag.

No 13 is minimum damage, I get 31 total raw damage with the 4 over from the attack.

That much I know how to do lol. I can't wait for 3e if it streamlines combat.

Well, I'm heading to GenCon this year and if it is not out by then, I'll inquire with the Onyx Path people about when it is expected to be released.

Ok, lets just go over the numbers real quick to make sure we are all on the same page. Your attack hits with 4 successes. The critter has a B/L Soak of 30. What is your damage pools that add to the 4 threshold successes for damage before subtracting soak?

If it was that way then you'd need a damage pool of around 60 or so (assuming that there's 50-50 chance to succeed) in order to even do a single level of damage. You're making it too hard on yourself.

1. Declare Attack

Use Charms as appropriate,

declare if unblockable/-dodgable.

2. Declare Defense

Choose Defense Type and use

defensive Charms as appropriate.

3. Attack Roll

Attacker rolls his Accuracy pool

minus internal penalties.

4. Attack Reroll

If a reroll Charm is used by the

attacker, apply effects.

5. Apply Penalties and Defenses

Remove external penalties and DV

from attack.

6. Defense "Reroll"

Use reroll charms to improve

defender’s DV as required.

7. Calculate Raw Damage

Add remaning successes to Base

Damage of weapon.

8. Calculate Damage

If Raw Damage is bigger than

Hardness, apply Soak to Damage.

9. Counterattack

Execute a Counterattack. No

Counter-counterattack possible.

10. Apply Damage and Effects

Roll damage and check for

Stunning & Knockdown.

Ok. I just want to make sure we are all rolling the same way.

Yar, not disagreeing, just never actually done it that way. It does cut down on rolling insane dice, at least.

A 4 sux two die stunt again... I'm not complaining! ( :D )

Wait. I just realized that my daiklave is speed 3 (the jade bonus gives -1 to speed). Oops.

Stop me if I start going into a Ducky story about how I once solved a murder using the dirt eaten by a worm in the local vicinity and how it relates to my grandmother's pet cockatoo.

This is way off-topic, but has anyone else been experiencing sluggishness with the site lately? or do I really just need to keep clearing my cache?

Also, do I recognize the Mistress Sherwood, or should I just inquire in character?

I have occasional sluggishness, but it isn't too bad lately.

At this point, you do not recognize the Deathlord.
