Dreams of the Second Age - Additional IC

"I found Olivia..." Aredin spoke with a solemn voice. "Though she had to give up that name for some reason. So it'd be more accurate to say, the Mistress of Tears. She wants to meet with us for a debriefing and to catch up on some things."

Mask

Mask accepts the embrace warmly and then gives a wink to Wren before offering a happy and cheesy smile at the others. "Well yeah, isn't that why you wanted us here, anyway? I mean, not necessarily to rebuild anything, but you said you'd managed to get them anyway." It isn't until a few moments later that he registers what Aredin said, and does a quick double take. "Wait, you mean THAT Olivia? I didn't even think Underworld...most of those crazy death kings or whatever are creepy Solar ghosts."

Pyter looks stunned. "O-Olivia? She is a Deathlord? How is that even possible? No. No, I can't believe that she would do that. She must be lying to you."

Wren looks confused, and whispers to Mask. "Who is this Olivia lady? And why is it a big deal that she's some kind of Deathlord, or something?"

Mask

"Olivia is the one I was asked to try and hunt down after they gave me my massive boons. No way I ever thought she'd end up a deathlord though." Mask looks visibly spooked by the idea, to the point that he's easily caught tightening his scarf around his neck and face.

Pyter still seems in denial. "Damn them in Yu-Shan. If I didn't have to go, I would find out for myself. She must be lying about who she is - or rather, was. In any case, whatever this Mistress of Tears has to say to you, take with a grain of salt. We have no idea on what her true objective is."

Aredin

"Well she won't say anything to us unless we all go. So, I can't be of much help there without you guys there to back me up. She only has three death knights, which are in fact tainted Solars by the way, so we do have the numbers advantage. Regardless, if she is who she says she is and we spurn her, what does that make us? I don't want to abandon someone that cared enough to die for the sake of my survival. If she's not who she says she is, then we'll just leave. Though I will say, it kinda makes sense to be her, considering how she knew me by name and knew about our existence despite the level of secrecy surrounding us for the past millennium and a half." Aredin begins to show more confidence in his expression as he spoke. "Actually, speaking of Sidereals, where's Araneus?"

Pyter's expression darkens. "He didn't make it. There was a trap between us and the stasis chamber that unleashed some sort of Essence discharge. When the lightning passed, there was nothing left. Another casualty to lay at the feet of the Bronze Faction."

Aredin

Aredin frowned, "I don't really think blaming them for that is entirely fair. Though the mountain of their sins is great, I think such things might taint the memory of our comrade."

Zen-Aku

Zen remains silent at the revelation that Olivia was alive as a Death-Lord. His emotions are conflicted but they don't bubble to the surface.

"Enough with the talk of politics and Olivia, we need to focus. The sooner we talk to Leeatya, the sooner we get to work. We will discuss these matters when we have enough time to take in this... unsettling information. For now we have a job to do and we need to get started as soon as we can."

Over the next hour, as the sun is getting low in the sky, the four Elder Dragon Kings are in the midst of intense discussions with their Goddess. From what they are saying back and forth, you can hear that the four Sleepers have a small arsenal of weapons set aside for the use of the Hatchlings (once they have Awakened their Essence, that is). That's the good news, the fact that you are about to have a small army of Essence users equipped with weapons made of the Magical Materials. The bad news is, barring some Solar Charm intervention, it will be several weeks before the first of the Hatchlings are Awakened and trained up enough not to hurt themselves with their Paths of Prehuman Mastery or stabbing themselves in the foot with a daiklave.

As the conversation dies down, Leeayta once more offers you the hospitality of her sanctum for a good meal and to avoid the shambling hordes of the walking dead in the streets.

Mask

"I'd welcome a little extra action, we've been travelling for too long." He offers a wry grin at Wren but then looks around and shrugs. "Though I'm sure a comfortable nap would be just as fun."

Niko pops his neck, saying, "I am most eager to get to work, myself. There is so much to do, and so little time to prepare in."

Zen-Aku

Zen spends some time discussing with the awakened Dragon-Kings as well as the sleepers about training the military, offering his own expertise to train the Awakened. He may not be able to Awaken their essence, but training and providing weapons and armor lie within his field of expertise. He mentions that he has a lot of Gunzosha and other artifact power-armor as well as mundane and artifact weapons that he has in naturally in storage.

When someone mentions awakening their essence, Nikola chuckles, "When the morning dawns, I will re-awaken the power that lies within anyone that wishes to be made whole again."

Nikola's comment gets the attention of the Dragon Kings. "You know of Charms to accelerate the Awakening process in our hatchlings? Truly Fate has been working to our advantage today. Let us go see the youngsters that wait for us, and give them some hope for tomorrow. Then we shall begin to make plans to build the army of the new Deliberative."

Do you stay with Leeayta in her sanctum overnight, or do you go to the Flying Tower and meet with L'ron and his small band of Dragon Kings?

Zen-Aku

Zen decides to accompany Nikola to the tower, if the night was as half as dangerous as Leeatya was claiming it would be, it would be best if he escorted the Kings and the others back to the tower. Who knew what might be lurking around during the night like this?

Mask

Mask will gladly go along, if Wren wants to go. "Like I said, itching for something that isn't just travel. Maybe some undead will show up and I can slap someone silly."

Nikola chuckles, "IF they are willing, it would be very possible for me to start this evening, though I will need a suitable place....Perhaps I should create one this night so I have a proper training ground in the morning." he rises, saying, "But come, let us go together, as both Solars and Dragon Kings, to deliver the glorious news."

Moving quickly and quietly to the Flying Tower, the various Exalts, Dragon Kings, and the Goddess all travel together through the Underways to avoid detection on the main streets of Rathess by the Mad Solar's forces or the mass of shambling dead that fill the streets in the night. There are several entrances to the Tower in the underground levels, many of which have been hastily barricaded. Leeayta quickly guides the group past the blocked passages and points out several traps and deadfalls that have been set up to keep the interior of the Tower secure. These few entrances are well hidden and guarded from within by the Awakened Dragon Kings. It does not take long for Leeayta to gain entrance to the inner foyer of the Tower, and L'ron is quickly summoned by his fellow hatchlings. His expression is difficult to read at first due to his reptilian nature, but it is soon apparent that he is quite ecstatic at the appearance of his Elders as promised to him by both you and his Goddess.

The youngster turns to look at you as a group. "I am pleased beyond words to see that my doubts were proven wrong. There has been no thought on my mind besides returning my people to their proper place for decades, and now, for the first time, that dream has the potential to come true. I have not much to offer, but what is here, I freely give to you."

Grond steps forward and takes the younger Dragon King into his arms. "You have done more with less than any have any right to expect. You will go down in our history as a hero of our race, one to be remembered in song and story for generations to come. Tell us, how many Awakened are there in your number?"

"Elder, we have three Pterok, one Anklok, and ten Raptok. At this time, none of the Mosok of the city are a part of this nest, as we have the most trouble capturing them to bring here for teaching."

"Even the largest tree in Creation begins its life from the simple seed. What you have done is more than I had hoped for, and you are to be praised. You have done well, L'ron. Let us gather the Awakened together for a prayer to the Unconquered Sun."

Nikola nods, saying, "Our intentions for this city were clear, and they remain as they were stated. I, as well as my comrades, are going to rebuild this city, returning it to it's former glory, and then surpassing even that!" he laughs heartily, "It will be most glorious to see."

Zen-Aku

Zen nods in agreement, "A start, no matter how small, is still a start nonetheless. We have much work to do but we will triumph. For in the end, that is why the Solars were created in the first place; to illuminate all of Creation from the darkness."

L'ron does his best to be a good host to the various Exalts, Elder Dragon Kings, and Gods. He tries, but it is somewhat disappointing when compared to the usual fare that you are used to from your days running around Meru and Yu-Shan. It is a new beginning, and through the early hours of the evening, the Dragon Kings, Leeayta, and the Exalts all spend some time discussing tactics for the short and long term future.

From L'ron, you learn that the mad Solar Filial Wisdom is in charge of a army numbering in the several thousand range, and is the biggest power of they city. He preaches dark practices to his followers of cannibalism and human sacrifice. Undoubtably the influence of the dark god Han-Tha. If the god that is in possession of the Solar is removed and destroyed, there is at least a chance that Filial can be rehabilitated, despite the damage done to his mind from years of being under control of the devourer god.

You also learn that there is a small group of Fae that have taken over the other Flying Tower, a group of three nobles and a small army of hobgoblins and trolls that have been searching the city, looking for something of value inside the Underways of the city. Pyter makes the observation that it might have something to do with the large warded area of the city, something to check into.

Late into the evening, Wren finds a pile of blankets and curls up to sleep. She makes the observation that all these world shaking plans are way over her head, and she'll leave the details of taking over the world to you.

Dawn comes, and the Anklok named Gara wakes everyone to join him at the top of the Flying Tower to greet the first rays of morning with an ancient ceremony performed by the Dragon Kings in their worship of the Unconquered Sun for thousands of years. It takes only a few minutes for the ceremony, and it is quickly done. "Now, let us make plans to take the rest of the city from those that would deny it from its rightful masters."

"I think the first order of business is to determine where Han-Tha is, and remove him. His influence is insidious and corrosive, and is having a long term effect upon the whole of Rathess. With him out of the way, we'll have a much easier time securing the city."

Zen-Aku

"Agreed. But since he's currently inhabiting the body of Fillial Wisdom it will not be an easy task. He will have an army backing him as well, which makes things a bit more complicated. We need a way to counter his forces before attempting to remove him. The Fae might be useful for us, but they will require a heavy price in exchange." Zen stated.

"An army is within my power to call forth, if we are concerned with pure numbers." Said Rine. "Be mindful that once we corner Filial, we must decide if we wish to slay him and his god both, or make the risk of freeing him."
