Fantasy Dragoon

Field Marshall

Eight Thousand Club
Intro

What has existed in every major mythology and nearly every mythology known to man? Dragons, in different forms and in different names Dragons have existed across the world. So who would mankind turn to collectively when they face threats from all mythologies, Dragons. Towards the end of the Age of the Gods mankind turn to the dragons for help making their world safe for humanity and this the first dragoons were born. Dragoons are humans who were seeded with the power of dragons who have ascended to level of being Dragon Gods. This power makes them not only part dragon and superhuman but also gives them supernatural powers which they can use to combat the ever descending evils of the world. The dragons formed the Weyr which have used the power of the Dragon God's to vanquish the evils of the war and in this day and age does so in secret most often imperceptible to mundane humans.

When the Age of the Gods ended mundane began to have their minds eclipsed from the Supernatural by what's known as glamour, although supernatural beings can interact with mundane and unglamour themselves just there are mundane who can see through glamour. Glamour allows the Dragoons to wage their war against otherworldly beings in secret.

A war that seems like it's never ending yet the Weyr fights on for the good of mankind. No matter what mythology legend, or culture the enemy is based in they could be Kami, Asuras, Rakshasas, youkai, evil dragons, demons, fallen Angels, or something never even heard of. It's not always just the Dragoons but allies in other races who aid them in this fight.

Dragon Gods and Semblances

Dragoons are granted power from a specific dragon god which are legendary dragons of a certain level power, some of myth and some not. The Dragon Gods themselves resides in their own domain beyond the reach of anything. The dragon's essence alters apart of the Dragoon's soul creating a Semblance which is a manifestation of the Dragon's essence with a dragoon's soul, this takes the form of the Dragon God the Dragoon is kin to and the semblance is linked back to it in a sort of hive mind like way.

Semblances are important as they are representation for the dragon portion of one's soul and is one's greatest Ally and mentor. Semblances can teach a Dragoon most things a living teacher can and more. It's up to the Dragoon to how well they are in contact with their semblance. Semblances can share information and memories collected by past Dragoons of the same kin. They can also act as tactical support lending advice in battle. These are either a few things Semblances are capable of and to become a truly powerful Dragoon one must have a powerful connection with their Semblance.

Origins

Being a dragoon is heriditary but also this is not the only war for new Dragoons to be created. There is random seeded as it's called in which a Dragon God's essence maybe become lost for a time such as like after the death of a dragoon and may seed itself into someone else, someone completely mundane until that moment. There is also the manual method which is to seed a dragon God's essence into a mundane, this is normally done with the Dragoon Egg which contains the memory of essence of all the Dragon Gods and can produce them. The Dragoon Egg was a gift from the Dragon Gods to the Dragoons in case they ever needed to increase their numbers.

Since new Dragoons aren't solely heriditary not all Dragoons who are kin to the same Dragon God are of the same family. When a Dragoon is kin to Dragon God it refers to who their power comes from. Who they are kin to has heavy sway on certain things such as transformation and their energy, Dragoons who are kin to the same dragon can develop similar if not the same energy.

Dragon Arts

All Dragoons have Supernatural Condition whch can of course vary depending on training and other factors. However, the abilities of Dragoons are called Dragon Arts. There are things called Meisters which are associated with Dragon Arts. Dragoons in training must qualify for a Meister before becoming full fledged Dragoons.

Dragoons start out as trainees which can vary depending on if they were born into eh Dragoon life or brought into it. Their training is intense physically and mentally, there is a portion of the training that is more specialized to each Dragoon which are the Dragon Arts and other skills they want to learn.

Dragoons have titles called Meisters which are vocation qualifications. Each dragoon in training must achieve one Meister before becoming a full fledged Dragoon. There are Dragoons who obtained all 6 Meisters but that takes decades normally. However, having more than one Meister is something that is a little more common. The Meisters are Reaver, Breather, Enchanted, Esper, Tamer, and Slayer.

Reavers: the Meister pertaining the Dragon Arts that involve transformation. It could simply as manifesting scales on one's skin to shifting into a full on dragon. This is heavily influenced by which Dragon God a Dragoon is kin to as it determines what form their full body forms take and if they can/need to manifest wings and what not. There is even a Dragon Art that allows a Dragoon to generate a suit of armor or clothing out of their dragon scales which has come to be known as Scalemail. This could also be such as transforming a specific body part into a certain object or imbuing it with certain properties. There are also Dragoons who specialize in using their transform abilities to simply increase their physical capabilities.

Espers: Dragoons who specialize in simply the use of their energy. A Dragon's energy is their main ability which are normally somewhat elemental in nature ,for at least their basic form, such as fire manipulation, telekinesis, perception manipulation, or something along those lines. A dragon's energy has three states which it will evolve throughout their life as they grow in power and experience. Those stages are basic, enhanced, and advanced. Energy promotion is the act of moving from one stage to the next and is permanent, it takes a lot of time, experience, and sometimes a high energy event for one to promote. Each energy in the sequence normally bears some relation to the energy before it or the basic energy. There just as many Dragoons who ignore their energy for power in another Dragon Art.

Breather: Those who specialize in breath attacks, a powerful enough breather can use breath attacks from many elements. The breaths used by Breathers are influenced by their energy but not controlled by it. It's easy for a Breather to learn to breathe their own energy is theirs is elemental in nature. Breathers can breath and devour any element they train to be able to. Bretahers can even apply special properties to their Breaths given time.

Tamer: Specialize in taming, summoning, and riding dragons. They form bonds with Dragons or dragon related creatures. The nature and status of these bonds can very from Tamer to Tamer. It's easiest to bond with Dragon of the same race as the Dragon God one is kin to.

Slayer: Specialize in the use of Soul Weapons. Soul Weapons are soul hound weapons infused to the very Dragoon. They contain what's known as the Dragonslayer attribute which makes it effective against Dragon's. Soul Weapons can be born from nothing or bonded from existing weapons. They are upgradable and changeable, they can be imbued with other Slayer attributes such as holy, demonic, or even anti magic. Even if they break or are destroyed, Slayers can reform them. A soul weapon is a Slayer's main weapon.

Enchanter: Specialize in the use of draconic magic enchantments which is the Dragon Art of using Dragon runes. These runes can cause a variety of effects and can be drawn with a Dragoon's finger if they focus their aura into their finger or can be drawn using whatever object they choose as a stylus. They can be inscribed in mid air, on weapons, on the environment, on themselves, or others. What makes it difficult is knowing the runes and the power it takes to activate them. Powerful enough Enchanters can use verbal commands to make runes appear without writing them.

The Weyr

The Weyr is the term for the order of Dragoons as a whole, the order is lead by the Council. The council doesn't have a definite number of members but members are often added by the two to keep the numbers of the council including the Grandmaster odd. The mission of the Weyr is to protect humanity from the dangers of the Supernatural World, this doesn't mean killing good supernaturals only the bad, malevolent, and evil ones. This also means working with other Supernaturals which can as high a level as an agreement with the Weyr or as low as an agreement with a local Dragoon. The Weyr is a global force and is not limited to one main mythology like some other smaller groups.

The Weyr has it's own HQ which a large mobile island, Mundus Draco, that can only either be in the oceans or an area as large as the Mediterranean Sea it's borders are enchanted so that mundane can't enter it or interact with it. The Weyr has bases all around the world called Wery Houses. A Weyr House can vary from being a simple apartment to being a volcano. It depends on the needs of the Weyr House and those who garrisoned at it. Some Weyrs could simply have one Dragoon responsible in the area. Generally all Supernatural hot zones have Weyr Houses but these can vary depending on the treaties made with the supernatural residents on these places which can sometimes limit the amount of Dragoons that can be garrisoned in that area.

Weyr Houses have Weryleaders who are appointed as the Head of a Weyr House, they are the de-facto leader of a Weyr House. Depending on the scale of the Weyr House it could simply a Bronze Dragoon looking after a bunch of trainess and Copper Dragoons below them. There are Weyr Houses that are higher than other Weyr Houses. For example one Weyr House may be responsible for a region while another maybe responsible for a province or town. It's the Weyrleader's duty to report up the chain or depending on their responsibilities directly to the Council.

There is a ranking system and also those who exist outside of that system such as those in special groups within the Weyr or those who have been made into Elites. The grades are Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The grades have classes from 1st to Third within them altogether making 15 regular ranks. Once a trainee obtains a Meister they become a Copper 3rd class.

There are special sub groups within the Weyr who have special duties and exist outside of this command structure. There are also Elites who have by order of the Council have been removed from the normal command structure, they do keep rank and can promote. Elites can command those below them but cannot be ordered by someone above them unless it's a Council member. However for the sake of missions, a leader can be appointed on a mission involving more than one Elite.
