Name: Mae Crestfall
Age: 24
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 125 lbs
Voice: voice sample

Vocation: Strider

Starting Equipment: Short Bow, no armor

Personality: Mae is a woman of fortitude and grit forged by a life of clawing (in vain) with all her might to rise above mediocrity. Her family is poor, but not so much that they were left starving on the street. Though... Living in the slums of Gran Soren isn't exactly "off the street," is it? Question for later. Her father and mother both work hard to make ends meet and provide for Mae and her two brothers (one older and one younger), and the children have always done what they could as well. In the past Mae has lied about her age to circumvent child labor laws in order to earn those few extra gold pieces to make sure everyone had a meal at the end of the day. She developed a drive for greatness at an early age which has only grown stronger with time. Despite her continued failures to dig herself and her family out of the trenches of poverty, she has never given up hope that one day their lives would be lived in the sunny streets above ground.

Biography: Born and raised in the slums of Gran Soren, Mae and her family have always held that their familial bonds are their most precious possessions and done everything possible to maintain them. Whenever a disagreement would arise the entire family would gather and discuss it until they all came to a common understanding. They wouldn't let the hardships of life stand in the way of their connection. Despite being the middle child between two boys, Mae grew up as the borderline paradoxical rebellious yet responsible child. She broke child labor laws to provide for her family. She stole. She broke and entered. She lied, cheated, and scammed her way to gold. And every last coin she earned she delivered back to her family. Never once did her own comfort, honor, or morality stop her from doing what was necessary to provide for them.

After coming of age (18), she managed to find a real job in Gran Soren as an artist painting portraits of people on the streets. Among her customers were several noble houses looking for high quality portraits of themselves and their family members. With this new consistent cash flow, she felt she was finally beginning to work her way up to the point of being able to buy a real home and get her family out of the slums... That is, until the Dragon attacked. The attack on Gran Soren, and Gransys as a whole, left the entire land in shock and horror. But none more so than Mae and her family. During the attack Mae did not face the Dragon directly, but when given the chance to clamber over its tail, dodge its claws, and an all out effort to dodge an attempt to chomp her into oblivion which led the Dragon to smashing its face into the wall separating the upper levels of the city from the fields, the Dragon paused its attack. The dead white eyes shone red, and it focused its attention on Mae who had cornered herself and picked up a rock to throw at a moment's notice (as if it would help). This effort was just enough for the Dragon to see her will to survive as it spoke to her in a tongue she didn't recognize before touching her chest with its claw causing her heart to burst free of her body. The Dragon proceeded to swallow her heart, leaving her unconscious in the streets.

When she awoke, she had no heartbeat. Yet she was alive, breathing, and feeling as normal as could be.

What had happened?...

Following the event she learned that two others elsewhere in the world had suffered the same fate. They were calling them "Arisen," whatever that meant. Her family never had the money for an education. So whatever this Arisen was, it had to be something special since literally everyone else seemed to know what it meant and was suddenly looking at her differently. The Duke of Gransys summoned her specifically, identifying her as Arisen, and agreed to provide her with the means to meet with the other Arisen in neutral territory and discuss their futures. It was no secret that the Arisen was meant to face the Dragon. A tall order and not at all something she was looking forward to. But if ever there was a way for her to leverage the few things in the world she knew made her special, this Arisen status had to be top of the list. If it meant facing a Dragon to ensure her family's future was secure, so be it.

Now armed with but a bow and enough gold to get her to the meeting place on the border of Gransys and Liore, she waits for the others to arrive.

Name: Corrina Astalart
Picture: Credit to @navigavi on Twitter.

Age: 22
Height: 5' 5" (166cm)
Weight: 122lbs. (55kg.)

Vocation:  Mage
Equipment: Wooden Staff, Basic Clothes

Personality: An astute practioner of the both Archmagicks and trade, Corrina has a wealth of knowledge at her disposal, though she severely lacks in experience. Her naivety often gets the best of her in dire situations, leading to indecisiveness and doubt. If a plan goes awry, improvising is not her forte. She's incredibly studious and can often be found reading tomes and scripts, though unlike her arcane peers she's much more inclined to socializing. Because of her upbringing she is rather charismatic, and can switch her mannerisms on the fly for when the situation deems necessary. While she doesn't have a silver tongue by any means, she's well-spoken and can express herself clearly.

Biography: As the bastard daughter of a noble house from Hearthstone, Corrina spent the majority of her childhood with her mother; a traveling merchant from the mainland. Specializing in trading a wide variety of goods such as weapons, salves, antiques, furs, and anything in between, Corrina learned the businesses of trade and appraisal from a young age. She took particular interest in tomes and texts of arcane nature, lending to her later understanding of magick. She was incredibly learned because of her upbringing, though the life of a merchant is wrought with many perils.

From bandit attacks to wolves, the roads of Hearthstone are just as dangerous as any other within the Kingdoms reach. Typically mercenary groups would be sufficient to drive off the dangers of traveling along said roads, though no average group of warriors is enough to halt a Dragon. Whilst stationed at a small port town south of the capital, the unimaginable had occurred... The Dragon razed the village, all but slaughtering its inhabitants. Corrina, anxious to find her mother in all of this, happened across her corpse only for her to then see it devoured by the maw of the great beast.

In a rage, Corrina slung spells of all manner at the Wyrm, though it was all for naught. The beast would not be harmed by such lowly magicks. However, the beast had seen some semblance of potential in the woman. Awakening from its bloodthirsty stupor, the Dragon had chosen her as its Arisen. A heart stolen, a wound closed, and a wing beat later, Corrina found herself at the mercy of fate. What else was there to do truly? The Dragon must be slain, and she was all too determined to fulfill that fate to its end.

Name: Kress
Age: 22
Height: 180cm
Weight: 130lbs
Voice:

Vocation: Fighter

Starting Equipment: Iron Sword

Backstory:
Kress is a Mercenary from Voldoa. His life began on a battlefield where his mercenary outfit were hired by Voldoan nobles to repel foreign raiders. Cut out of his mother in the midst of battle. Kress's first cries were drowned out among the bloodletting. Growing up as a blade for hire. Kress never stayed in one place long enough to make any lasting connections. His father was unknown and his mother died of illness. This led him to being collectively raised by the mercenaries of the Sabertooth Mercenary Band. Adopting a lifestyle of training, fighting and drinking. Kress lived his life as if he'd die the day after. However his situation changed when Voldoan bards spoke of the Dragons return. It was just a far fetched story to frighten peasants and fools. If proven true, there was no need for someone like Kress. An Arisen chosen by the Dragon was the only thing for the Wyrm. Not even a sea of swords could stop something so cataclysmic. There was no need for Kress, yet Kress was still called upon. During a battle with the rival mercenary faction of the Raventail Band. The Dragon attacked, laying waste to everything around it. Kress initially chose to retreat, seeing no value in dying a meaningless death to the Wyrm. This plan was thrown out the window when the Dragon cut off his escape. Refusing to fall to the infernal beast. Kress attempted to battle against his inevitable death. Tossed aside like a ragdoll by the Dragon. He was forced to watch as his heart was claimed. Awakening in a church a week later. Kress was recognized by Voldoa as an Arisen.
