Fantasy Dragon Thieves

Kiyma nearly flat out refused him. But then she eyed his weapons. She only had a sword, he had a bow and quite possibly a few daggers. Sure, the young woman would have to keep her guard up, but Kimya could take him on if things go awry. She needed all the help she could get. However, she wasn't going to let him know her weaknesses. Nor was she going to keep him if he became a liability. Kimya smirked. "I don't even know your name, elf. Nor do I remember mentioning mine. Lets start there."

Fickle nodded shifting in place sightly. That was a reasonable request. Holding his hand out in what he's learned is a human gesture. " My name if Fickle. May I ask yours?"

"Kimya." The young woman replied curtly, returning his hand shake. "Where are you travelin'?" Half of her hoped it was the same way she was going, but the other half hoped in was in the opposite direction. Either way, she could get by with or without his help. It didn't matter, he could follow her if he wanted to, as long as he pulled his weight.

"Honestly." Fickle shrugged looking around in boredom. "I don't have an exact location. For now I'm just going were my feet tell me to."

"I'm going into the mountains. Are you willing to follow me?" Kimya asked. "Are you willing to pull your weight?" She didn't need anyone who was going to drag her down. Kimya eyed the fox accompanying him. "Is your pet going to be a problem?" She didn't need an untamed creature attacking them in the night.

"I'll follow you and I'll pull my weight." Fickle said. He paused glancing at Ali as she let out a snort of indignation at the implication and smirked. "Don't worry about Ali. She's only dangerous to those that threaten me. Other than that she's a gentle fox."

"Good. Do you need to buy anything in town or are you ready to go?" Kimya needed t0 get out of here. She had a limited amount of time to make it up those mountains, scour the icecaps for dragons or their eggs, possibly bring one down, and get payed. It was a tall order, but it was her only chance. Hang in there mom. Kimya silently prayed.

"I'm good." Fickle said already thinking about his mission. The mountains was a good place to start looking for dragons and their eggs. Though in all honesty he would rather not have to steal an egg. Unfortunately he needed the money though he found another way to make it he will take it.

"Lets go then. Keep your guard up till we're well out of town. And for God's sake, pull up your hood." Kimya didn't need Fickle dying on her, much less being seen with an elf in tow. She was finally starting her mission, hopefully, her efforts would not be in vain. Kimya's red eyes looked upwards towards the mountains, her white hair blowing with the breeze. She chased away the thoughts of danger and the idea of what would happen if she failed her mission and started walking towards the distant peaks.

Fickle rolled her eyes at her warning but obeyed as he followed. Ali whining made him freeze. Turning he nodded at her knowing she knew what he meant. Whining Ali turned and disappeared. She would keep close but out of sight. Grinning he turned and quickly caught up with Kimya.

Kimya noted that the fox had ran off, but thought nothing of it as they walked. "So, why were you on human territory in the first place? Do your feet decide to carry you towards danger at the first sign of boredom?"

Fickle glanced at her in amusement hands held behind his head. Shaking his head he answered. "No. I know a person there that owed me a favor. He heard about a few people who had high price missions. He knew I needed the money so referred one of the people to me. Here I am."

Raising an eyebrow, Coro wondered if this elven chick was really all that great of a ranger, just shooting off an arrow at random.

"
Well, for a ranger you sure aren't too aware of geography, this part of the forest is awfully far away from the elven territory. What're you shooting off at in the distance? Some kinda game? If you're hunting, I'd like some pheasant. They're really plentiful around here!" The thief spouted off, abiding by the elf's request, and also requesting something of her to counter. Of course, he didn't expect anything, as he was definitely still thinking with his stomach.

(@Th3W1ttyLl4m4 : Oops! Sorry. I missed that.)

The arrow strikes the tree, and the white creature flies away. Airborne, larger than your average bird.

As much as she appreciates his ability to follow orders and yap, she snaps at him in annoyance as she lands on her feet before him. "Shut up and run." Taking him by his scarf, the fabric being the first thing she can get her hand on, she tugs him in the direction the creature went before running off in said direction. She searches for its conscience with hers, souring the area, running half blindly as she follows her mind's unclear eye.

Following the girl, Coro jogged half-heartedly through the woods, rolling his eyes as she pulled him along by his scarf.

"
Hey, watch it, this scarf has sentimental value here!" He chirped, trying to follow along fast enough that she wouldn't choke him out with his own scarf. "What exactly are we chasing anyways, c'mon, if you missed the shot, let it go." He tried to reason with her, feeling a little weak and light-headed from a lack of food over the last few days. He really just wanted to get to a tavern or something.

Araria rolls her eyes, then curses the boy for distracting her. She stops, suddenly, trying to relocate the creature. When she can't, she turns to the man, twisting the scarf in her fist and getting in his face. "I missed," she says lowly, anger boiling audibly, "on purpose." She shoves him away from herself in disgust. She paces. Her curiosity burns within her, wanting to know what the strange creature was. A dagger flies angrily from her belt, sinking into the trunk of a tree.

Finally, she ends her pacing abruptly, and sighs. Azaria approaches the tree and runs a hand along it, giving a quick apology. She yanks the blade free and slumps down against the tree trunk, disappointed in her lack of magical ability.

"No use getting this upset over it, then...." Coro offered, noting the girl's temper. She seemed seriously upset about this turn of events. Maybe she was just as hungry as him and irritable she's missed her target. Aftr all it must hurt her pride a little as such an experienced ranger she'd miss an easy kill or something, he theorized while rubbing his chin.

Taking a step forward, he offered his hand to her to get up.

"
Look, I'm headed towards those villages for now." He explained, motioning with his other hand away from the capital, towards the local farming villages that supplied the capital with agricultural business. Being satellite towns, they were great for researching current rumours and events, as news always passed through them before making it to the capital itself. "If you want you can come with me and we can get something to eat there." He made his pitch, feeling a kindred spirit with the poor elven girl he assumed was angry out of hunger.

She glanced up at him in disbelief, then shook her head. "Is food the only thing you ever think about?" Resting back against the tree trunk, she contemplates going with the man. Though he annoys her to bits, there isn't much point to staying here in the forest; the elves would likely have found any dragon eggs around here. And, perhaps being around a human for a while, however short, might allow her to learn to quell her irritations a bit.

She sighs, raising her green eyes to his brown ones. "I suppose maybe you are right. Food might be useful." She tucks her dagger back into its sheath and stands. "Though, you still haven't told me what brings you here, to the forest." Azaria glances out towards the capital. The sun has risen, lighting up the world from low in the sky.

Coro shrugged.

"
Nothing about the forest in particular. I just took the fastest route from the capital to the farming villages." He explained, smoothly drawing his hand back and running it through his shaggy hair as if he'd never offered it to her to stand in the first place. Sliding it back into his pocket, his other hand resting idly on the handle of the long knife in it's hilt at his side, Coro turned and took a step off towards the smoke coming from the horizon, glancing back over his shoulder at the elven girl as he walked.

This was too easy. He'd find out about her and any plans of the elven war effort in no time. She must be an advance scout or something, he theorized further, as to why she was so close to the human capital.

With a glance back northeast in the direction of her former home, she gives another quiet sigh and follows him. She wants to ask about the farming villages, but also doesn't feel like talking. His company sets her on edge, as most people do, and her hand rests upon the hilt of a blade. She should have remained alone. She could leave him, and travel to the mountains of the dwarves; there might be a better chance of finding an egg there. The dwarves were never interested in dragons.

Yet, here she is, walking through the free woodlands to a human village. She figures she should hide her elvish features when they near the villages. Who knows what the greedy, power-hungry human king might do if he thinks an elf is on his lands.

As Sebastian and Silma made their way closer to the two other presences, the small dragon let out a chirp, warning its companion that they were close by. With a nod, Sebastian and the dragon rested against a tall, thick nearby tree, waiting patiently to see if the two would pass by. They were close now. The young mage could feel the life energy flowing through them. "Hopefully they are not hostile. But be ready, Silma.." He spoke softly to his dragon companion, who gave a nod of its small, horned head.

But then Sebastian had to add. "Heh...even if they are hostile, we'll handle it regardless, correct my friend?" Once again, the small dragon let out a chirp of agreement.

"We're both on a mission, huh Fickle?" Kimya remarked. "At least we're both being productive. So, what are you after?" She was curious as to why he was so quick to make alliances with her, people in this town seemed to keep to themselves. Maybe it was an elf thing? She didn't know.

(Sorry I've been busy.)

"Oh just a dragon egg." Fickle said flippantly as they walked. He didn't know if he should be telling her this or even trusting her. What he did know was he needed an ally. This search wouldn't be easy and he needed someone to cover his back." I don't really want to but I need the money."

Kimya looked at him in silence for awhile seething in her anger. What the hell?! Him too?! She put on a calm facade and kept walking like nothing bothered her. I can't tell him that I'm after the same thing. His egg would go to the elf kingdom! If they found out I gave a dragon egg to an elf, I'd be tried for treason!

Kimya shook this thought off. I need an ally if I'm going to survive. If we find any eggs, we'll either split them and never see each other again, or I'll end his life. The young woman felt shivers run down her spine. I mean, how hard can it be? He's just an insufficient little elf, right? It's not like anyone will miss him...will they? Kimya got a dazed look in her eye. She decided they would cross that bridge when they came to it.

"So." Fickle said breaking the tense silence that filled the air. Kimyas reaction was strange and unnarving. If he didn't need an ally he probably would have decided to find a way to split from her or kill her. Be it as it may he will just have to suck it up and be wary."Whats your mission?"
