Dragon Riders - The world needs a hero. Will it be you?

In an age where dragons roamed the land, brave young men and women from the four regions castles of Disarea have learned to tame befriend dragons. These individuals are doved knights of their respective kingdoms; Hammerfall of the icy North, White City of the Mountains, Breonne of the Western Plains, and Dunnath of the Dark Forest (south).
For centuries the kingdoms lived in peace. But a dark force had come across the land. Cities in the south have been dieing one by one. The cities found...

Shiroi jumped down to the ground once Fear had landed in the courtyard of White City's castle. The area was huge, as would be expected. It had to fit quite a few dragons there. Despite living her whole life as a knight of White City, she'd never actually been in the courtyard. It was reserved for special gatherings, like the one today. The king of White City had called upon Dragon Riders from all over Disarea to discuss the plans for taking out the southern scourge. The issue had become very personal to Shiroi. She'd been spending a lot of time down south lately. She'd made close friends in several cities, dangerously close to the blight line. She was eager to get started. Maybe too eager, she was the first one there...

Dirge arrived to the courtyard as Chaos landed on the ground slowly, his open wings decelerating his impact to the ground. Ashes accidently fell off the fire dragon's skin during landing and a small fire erupted on the ground next to them. "Chaos, you got to be more careful during landings. We don't want to start a wildfire now do we?" Dirge lectured the dragon as he dismounted it and froze the burning grass with his ability. He then spots Shiroi and Fear nearby. "Hey guys! When did you two make it here?" He yelled while waving at the pair, before walking toward them with Chaos behind him.

Shiroi was sitting on the ground, Fear lying next to her. She picked a flower growing in the large grassy zone and held it up for Fear to see. The dragon sniffed it, then promptly ate it. Aww... She was startled when Dirge yelled over to them. She was too distracted by pretty flowers to notice he arrived! "We haven't been here for two hours!" she blurted out almost immediately. "I-I mean, hi....it's good to see someone else showed up." at least she was there on the right day. She was starting to get worried no one else would come.

Dirge sits down on the ground next to Shiroi. "You were here for two hours before me?! Does that mean I'm already late to the meeting?!" He asked while laughing at the same time. He then looks up to the sky to see if the other Riders will arrive soon.

Khajin's hair whipped behind him as Lunos soared through the sky towards the white city. They had been riding all day, having been previously on a scouting mission in the south. The wind smacked against the protective goggles he always wears when he rides and with the sun at his back he felt perfectly free. Its almost a perfect day he thought to himself. If only i didn't find another whole village mysteriously destroyed. As the they approached the grand White Castle he maneuvered Lunos into doing a flyby of the hold. This was his first time to the mountain kingdom and he wanted a chance to look at its strengths and defenses. Years of training as a spy and scout had taught him to always look for the weak points in a place of gathering; assassins liked to killed their targets while everyone else was occupied. When he was satisfied he pulled Lunos into a dive and at the last minute the dragon opened its vast silvery wings to break its fall and land lightly on the ground of the courtyard.

"Nicely executed my friend", Khajin said to his dragon and received a cry in return. Khajin spun on his bottom and slid down his dragon's tail to the ground. Lunos brought his head to Khajin and Khajin gave him a little rough scratch between the eyes just like he likes it. "Now stay, and play nice with the others". Lunos replied with a puff as Khajin walked to Dirge and Shiroi sitting on the ground.

He pulled on his goggles and smiled at them. "Long time no see guys, how've you been?"

Shiroi shook her head, smiling brightly, "Nope, it appears you're just on time," she said as she pointed out another dragon soaring through the sky. She had no doubt who it was. She'd only even known one other silver dragon before, and with all her time in the south she'd known it well. She watched him land and stood up as he approached the two, "Well that was a flashy entrance." she chuckled in reply, "but let me tell you, I could be better." she looked around the empty field to make sure it was still just them. The last thing she wanted was rumors spreading around the kingdom like a wildfire. Citizens of White City were the most known to blow stories was out of proportion. "I was assigned a mission in Cascade a month ago, the first city to fall to the blight, and I left on a lead for that previous mission. The next day, it was gone. Everything was dead. I was this close from being a casualty" Shiroi said as she held her thumb and index finger apart by fraction of an inch. She was completely freaked out. It seemed to be like that for many of the cities she'd traveled to. And that was creepy. So creepy.

Khajin smiled, took her hand and kissed it with a bow. "I have no doubt that you are much more gracefully than I my lady". He noodded to Dirge and listen as Shiroi told her story. He reach back to tie his locks in a high ponytail, "Yeah its like that everywhere. I just came from Argos which was the latest town to go dark ... its strange, the place felt wrong .. diseased". He shook his head and looked around. "Even the spirit realm in that area is strange ... there are no spirits ...the place is devoid of any life, its like even the spirits aren't safe from whatever is happening."

He kicked a rock a looked over to Lunos with the other dragons. The thought scared him, even thought he wouldn't show it. Being able to Spirit Step provided him with a way to always escape danger if the worse were to happen ... but even the spirits weren't safe...He shook the thought out of his head.

Elfangor and Svinnr speed through the air towards White City, pulling ahead of Uro and Sterkr. Sterkr lets out a frustrated roar, but he just can't match Svinnr's amazing quickness. Dragon and Rider land in the courtyard and introduce themselves.

"My brother will be here shortly."

A minute or two later the ground is shaken as Sterkr's bulk crashes into the ground. Uro and his dragon roughly report.

"Please to meet you all. I look foward to working with all of you to help find what exactly is doing all of this. Hopefully we can find out and avenge my family.".

Shiroi nodded slowly, "I just have this sickening feeling that something's wrong...very wrong. And we're not going to be prepared for whatever it is..." she said quietly, rubbing her arms as she did so. She was nervous about this mission. Anything that could kill spirits as well...it just couldn't be anything like anyone had experienced before.

Khajin nodded at the two newcomer and introduced himself, "Khajin of Hammerfall, pleased to meet you". He turned back to Shiroi, "Whatever it is we'll have to face it sooner or later, im all for soon than later .. Hammerfall is furthest from all this but id rather not wait until it's at our gates." He walked over to an apple tree and picked one up and bit into it, "When are we going to get this started anyway? How many riders are we expecting?"

"White City is the next castle in line!" Shiroi said with a shake of her head, "whatever this is we need to get rid of it now." she sighed and sat down again. A breeze swept across the field. She always liked breezes, they calmed her down. It was especially nice that she could control them. "I really don't know how many more there's going to be. It's the dragon riders from ever castle, but Dunnath is gone. I haven't seen anyone from the east either. Maybe they just don't wanna come...or they're busy" she shook her head again, "but I don't see any reason something else would be more important than this."

Another gust of wind swept across the field, this time much stronger. A darkness came over the area, blocking out the light like a large shadow. A cloaked figure stepped out of the darkness and walked towards the group, extending a scroll to Shiroi, "From the king..." the figure hissed in a low voice before another gust of wind picked up. The figure dissipated in the wind like smoke, taking along with it the shadow over the area, returning the bright light of day to the field. "Darkness users are so creepy" Shiroi muttered with a shutter. Fear bopped her over the head with his tail in response.

Lunos snarled and bared his teeth at the dark figure while beating his wings. Khajin regarded the messenger coolly and shook his head when he departed. "Yeah im not too fond of them myself, too close to darkness and you become it" ... he reached over and rubbed Lunos' side as his huge tail curled around him .. "at least thats what the spirit monks tell it." Khajin never like dark users personally, as a priest by birth dark users were his complete opposite by dogma but he also understood the need for balance. He looked over at Shiroi... "Well? Are you going to read that or what?"

"Well darkness isn't too bad" Shiroi said with a smile, "Fear is a dark dragon, and I've been with him my whole life! And I don't seem very corrupt, do I?" she chuckled with a bright smile. When Khajin asked about the scroll, her attention snapped to the tube in her hands. She opened it up for the group to see "It says that we have to investigate the issue.... tells us where some refugee camps are in the south.... some stuff about how urgent this mission is.... oh, 'The Kingdom of Dunnath may be in ruins, but your party may use the castle as boarding while on your journey. The stronghold should suffice for all of your needs and provide easy access to the other kingdoms.' that sounds pretty useful... oh hey, look at this," Shiroi said as she pointed to a note on the bottom of scroll under the king's signature, "the princess of Dunnath went missing a week before all of this started. Think there's a connection~?" she cooed.

"Who knows? Maybe it's just a coincidence that she went missing before this catastrophe happened?" Dirge said scratching his head. He gives Khajin a strange smile before looking at the scroll once again. "But we get to use a castle as our base of operations?" Dirge asked with a raised eyebrow. "From the very kingdom that was defeated by our mysterious enemy?" He then walks away from group laughing. "Yup. Makes perfect sense to send the Riders to sleep in a ruined kingdom full of doom."

Khajin shrugged and smiled back. "Why not? That's what we riders signed up for all those years back right?" Lunos bowed his head and Khajin hopped onto his neck and slide down to his saddle. "I would offer to scout ahead but I'm not sure it would be safe to Spirit Step into that place ... though I'm not even entirely sure I can accurately do it at that range come to think of it", he slide his goggles back down his face. " So south then, meet you guys there", he called to them as Lunos flapped his wing and went airborne.

"Whatever destroyed the place probably isn't there anymore" Shiroi said to Dirge with a smile, "so c'mon, last one there's a rotten egg" she cooed as she stood up and jumped up on Fear's back. The black and purple dragon stood up and jumped up in the air, pulsing its wings to shoot straight up. With a spin, the dragon straightened out its path and headed south.

"why must you fly so high all or the time?" fenrir held his hands together and pressed low to the warm dragon blow him, accompanied by the sounds of tickling as ice flew off of him. a low rumble passed thorough the dragon as he spoke to it an annoyed rumble. "git" as fenrir insulted vajra the dragon lazily rolled into a dive descending the thousand or so feet to the cloud bank. dragons were taking off from the courtyard bellow them speeding south. "late once more" fenrir razed an eyebrow and the dragon swayed once more. "stop that, we both know i cant fly" fenrir hefted his maw and looked down on the group the only one he knew at this distance was khajin... all to familiar with the sight of the ass end of lunos. "quick bastard." fenrir grumbled. receiving a grunt of affirmation from vajra. pulling out of the dive and angling into a short bank the flew for an intercept course.

"We know Dunnath quite well," Elfangor said, looking at his dragon, "Why don't we lead the way?"

Elfangor smiles, hops up onto Svinnr, and the pair takes off with speed. They are soon at the head of the pack.

Uro and Sterkr are slower to ready themselves and take off. "I'll take the rear guard position. I like the view back here anyway! White City's countryside is beautiful, isn't Sterkr?"

Shiroi looked over her shoulder and scowled "Fear. Skirt check!" She shouted over the wind. Fear opened his mouth and spat out a large black plume of smoke. He repositioned his wings to catch a large gust of wind that rushed at them from nowhere. The dragon was swept up in the wind in a backward arch over Uro and Sterkr, leaving them do deal with a cloud of pure darkness in their face. "You wanna run that by me again?" Shiroi called playfully from above the two

Dirge looks up at the sky as most of the Riders fly away to the South. "Wow, they're a energetic bunch of people. Well time to go Chaos... really dude?" The Rider face palms himself as he watched the fire dragon eat a bunch of flowers off the ground. He was probably curious about its taste after Fear ate one earlier. "C'mon Chaos! Let's go!" The dragon just stays where it was and lays down on the grass with smoke coming out of its nose. Yeah... seems like Dirge is the rotten egg now. Amazing how he even arrived early for the meeting with a lazy dragon like this...

Khajin saw the familiar shape in the distance and banked Lunos out of formation to meet them. "Hey Fen! Long time no see!". Even though he wasn't born there Fenrir was of Hammerfall and they had went on missions together previously. Khajin felt a strong kinship with both Fenrir and his dragon and knew how handy all that strength could be in a tight spot. "We're heading south to Dunnath, the crown is letting us use the ruined castle as a base and beachhead to investigate the attacks .... think about it .. a whole castle to ourselves!", Khajin shouted over to Fenrir as their dragons soared side by side.

"always with the talking mid flight. something about eye fang time se or something, then like something about dunnath and running castles or something". fenrir razed his hammer in greeting. "good to see i'm not the only north-men on this sortie" vajra's head dipped to greet the two.

Nexus walks around Dunnath castle. His shoes clicking along the stone floor as he examines the scalding ruins. "Diablo keep on the look out for any other creatures. I don't like being snuck up on." Diablo growls slightly before he climbs on top of a small roof and watches the air. He eats part of the building as he does so. Nexus runs his hand through his red hair as he smokes his cigarette. "I wonder if the boys found anything out. Gotta love having spies and scouts." He laughs evilly and continues searching through the castle's vault, pocketing any gold he finds.

Sol rode on Nidhogg. A legendary dragon that tore armies apart as if they were fresh fruit. Nidhogg's roar was so loud that any dragon could hear its cry. A warning cry. 'The Dragon is Here!' Sol's unsee through mask was blank white and scared all who saw. With a glance he looked over and saw several Dragon riders. He kept flying since anyone who saw Nidhogg was either in fear or in awe.

Nidhogg's light glew slightly as if it was dimming out and it landed in a large open field and Sol jumped off. "......rest...." His voice came light and metallic. And he sat beside his dragon.
