Effervescent
Rests Chin In Hands
A lot of fantasy genres have dragons as evil, nearly extinct, or as some form of secondary malice. I'd like to explore the concept of people and dragons coexisting and working together. Dragons wouldn't be pets, tools, or mere mounts, but friends to those who they bond with.
The plot I had in mind revolves around a group of dragon riders who, since birth, have been charged with keeping the peace throughout many lands. They are often called in to act as mediators in disputes, no matter how small or grand, and have often been known to settle wars before any blood was shed. In instances where their mediation is refused or ignored by one party involved, then they fight for the side that accepts them.
Few would wish to cross a dragon and its rider. A dragon by itself is fierce, but combined with its rider, their strength and magic is magnified. Those who choose to go against them tend to dabble in dark magic, for it is the only way for the playing field to be even.
The era would be in a time when the validity and honor of dragon riders is heavily questioned. Rumors of these riders being corrupt or straying from their oaths would spread, often causing kings and queens to post bounties for dragons killed and their riders brought to justice. Dragons and their nests are sought out and exterminated before they can bond with another rider. A dragon without its rider may be strong, but is far more vulnerable to attack. They lose their heightened senses, and their magic is weak.
The roleplay would be detailed in nature. Lots of pretty, long posts. Each player would play a rider and a dragon, and I haven't decided what kinds of magic would be available. Also considering the possibility that the people don't have to be riders, but possibly called wardens, and the dragons then don't have to be a particular size.
Let me know what you think and if you're interested!
