Fantasy Dragon Guard

"New home? But.. my parents don't know I'm here. I can't stay here." Her voice raised slightly. So maybe they were kidnappers. "Look this awesome and all, but I have a life at home. A family."
"Oh, well it's too bad that you don't want to stay. But, unfoutunetly, leaving isn't an option, not now. Sorry dear. We will deal with your parents, they'll know soon enough. And, your dragon is your family, now."

"Yeah. Happy. Well, I guess you're right. Being happy isn't a bad thing!" Forrest said aloud, spreading his arms out but then quickly pulling them back in. "But, uh, no hugs. Not for now at least." Almost directly after he was about to put his hands on the back of his head, Forrest found that they were rocking again. He just couldn't help it when he had learned this would be his new home. So close to nature with so many things to climb, so much new wildlife... the possibilities were endless here. And it isn't like he had much to lose from moving. All he'd need to do is get used to the new terrain and he'd be set. The others? They all seemed like they had lives back home...

Prose opened and closed her mouth a couple times, unsure what to say. One side of her wanted to stay and watch the egg hatch and learn all about this new world, but another part thought of her friends and school and her camping trips and her family. "Will I be able to see my family at least? You can't just isolate us." She was a bit annoyed that finding an egg just decided her fate and that she couldn't leave, but if she could visit her family, this would be bearable. She's stayed away from home before.

"Not for the first two years of your dragons life, but after that, you will be free to come and go as you please."

(Sorry for not responding, @Salt Lord, I really can't think of how to respond to your post..)

Prose frowned. "What's so important during the first two years? A couple hours hike is too long for it?" Now Prose didn't know anything about dragons, butt hat sounded a bit ridiculous.
"The first two years are the most important years in your dragons life. That is when they are most dependant on you, and when all your bonding and almost all of your training occurs. You have to do everything with them, play, train, eat, even sleep."

Jumping up and down, Forrest made his way in front of the lady who seemed to know all about dragons. "Could I live here even after the two years? Also, how long is it gonna take the dragons to hatch?" He hoped it was soon. All this talk was making the young man a little impatient.
"Of course, you all are actually required to stay here for the rest of your lives, but after two years, you can come and go as you please. And, the dragons should hatch within a week."
Forrest grinned yet again as he heard that he was required to stay here his whole life, but the shine immediately left his eyes as he heard the second part of the sentence. Defeated, he fell to his knees, clutching the fabric of the toga that lay over his heart. "No! How could you do this to me?! I thought dragon eggs were supposed to be magicaaaall!!!"

Ansy stopped, stunned. "Well, keep in mind that they aren't magical creatures, hon, they're much like other animals, except quite a bit smarter. Their hatching time depends, though, they could hatch within 3 days, or, at most, a week."

"No..." Forrest whispered, flopping onto the floor, curling into a ball, and rolling around on the stone miserably. He couldn't wait three whole days much less a week. His heart was even further broken when he found out that dragons weren't even magical. How are you gonna defend yourself from the supernatural if you didn't even have magic on your side? The myth about dragons had been true, but had magic been a lie all along?

The cold wind whipped through Cora's hair as she stared down at the large object in front of her. She had been walking through the forest, minding her own business when she had nearly tripped over the object. She had first thought it was a rock, but it's strange shape was making her think otherwise. Camouflaged in black and green, the thing looked more like a large chicken egg. A very strange colored chicken egg. Curious, Cora reached forward, smoothing a hand over the egg as she bent down to observe it. It took her a few moments to take in the large egg before it jiggled a bit, causing her to spring back a bit with surprise. Looking back down at the egg as it stilled, curiosity took over her, and she hefted the egg into her arms, heading towards her home.

~A few days later~

Looking down at her eager dog who was pacing back and forth from the living room to her room, Cora sighed, holding the large egg close to her chest. Once again, her dark dog looked up at her, and then at her egg, his ears perking up as he looked at the egg. Getting on his hind legs, he started sniffing the egg and Cora shoved him away. "Bad Luna, no." She said, glaring at her dog before pulling the egg closer to her. She had draped the large object in blankets to try and keep it warm. Rubbing her egg slightly, she looked back down at her book, which she was currently engrossed in. She didn't appear to be much of a book person, but sit her down in front of one and she would lie still for once. Smiling, Cora started reading her book, loose long sleeved t shirt hanging off her body as she flipped the pages. The ding of her phone made her look over at the device, picking it up. She saw a random number, and she would have dismissed it if it where not for the strange message on the front. Reading the message in it's entirety, she shot out of her bed, causing her pup to yelp. Heaving the egg off her bed, Cora went racing for her jacket and shoes, thankful that her parents were out of the house. "I'll be back Luna!" She called, sliding on her beanie and jacket as she heaved the egg into her arms once more. She looked ridiculous carrying it around, considering she was almost six feet tall and it even looked gigantic on her.

Finally arriving at the destination, she looked around, approaching the place the directions told her. It wasn't any sort of ordinary building, in fact, it was a cave. Climbing up carefully, Cora looked around, brushing her inky locks out of the way. "Hello?" She called into the cave, walking, or more like waddling, forward with her large egg.

"What the heck is this?" Said Victor after receiving the text. First he'd found this huge blue rock, now he was being told to bring it to a location via text message. And that it was an egg. He did feel the urge to take himself there, he was certainly curious about this big rock He'd just found during a walk in the forest,. Heaving it up, he placed it into a rucksack and started following the directions.

many hours later:

"Well, I hope no one misses me." said Victor quietly to himself as he looked into the cave at the top of mountain. Taking the rock, no, egg out of his rucksack, he started walking in, slowly as this egg was so heavy. He wondered just what could be here. He just really hoped it wasn't some stupid prank.

Prose let out a sigh. Although she wasn't exactly the most excited about this situation, she still was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't just magically hatch. In the meantime, what were they going to do? Just sit and watch the eggs? Remembering Ansy mentioning a tour, she spoke up after watching the man-child's theatrics for a moment. He seemed more disappointed than she was. "What was this about a tour? Are we going to be having separate rooms? Please tell me we have separate rooms."

Anya's head was spinning with conflict two years?! What are my parents gonna think? They'd kill me! Oh god I'm so screwed On one hand, she hadn't even been able to tell her parents 'goodbye' and now she'd be staying there with nothing but the clothes on her back and a can of pepper spray? That's borderline abduction! On the other hand though, the idea of riding a dragon and literally flying, did sound very appealing as it was something that she could never have dreamed of doing. "So let me get this straight. We all came here with an 'egg' probably against our parents will, and now you're practically holding us hostage. I didn't even get to say bye! I left a note saying I was at a friends house, what are they going to think?!" All of her frustration came out in her words, this whole situation was so difficult for her to understand. Despite her thinking it'd be really cool to ride a dragon, the idea of suddenly not being able to go say bye to her parents was very frustrating. At least, she wanted to grab a couple things from her room! A change of clothes, some soap, a blanket for gods sake, anything to remind her of home.

Ragna had been in his own thing. His parents well they didn't care too much about what he did since it was his decision so him walking outside wasn't that big of a deal. Well until he came home, when he got there he was honestly bored and then turned to his closet to see it was.... open? Moving over to it he looked inside seeing what seemed to be some sort of.... holding... type nest. Though the fact his blankets made that wasn't as surprising compared to the fact that inside it sat a rather decent sized whitish-blue egg inside it. Moving over to it he was resilient but put his hand against it and despite it's somewhat icy appearance it was actually.... quite warm to the touch. He picked it up and carried it over to his bed where he sat it down again with a gentle sigh. He didn't know exactly what to do though then he saw his message and read it.... was this some sort of prank or an attempted death message. Regardless he didn't want to find out so he moved quickly across the room now grabbing a decently sized leather-satchel from his closet and moving back over to the egg. With a soft movement he placed the item into it and began to grab basic things he'd need. Clothing, a comb, and a few other things before putting on his Jacket and moving out of the house completely ignoring everything around him and beginning to follow the instructions so that he could see what this.... 'egg' really was and all.

"Oh..." Connor said at the matter of fact tone that 'They're dragon eggs' was said in. Well, how was he supposed to know, he hadn't seen any dragon eggs before. Dragons, possibly, one could never be to sure. But certainly not an egg. And night terror eggs at that. "What exactly is a night terror?" he asked, deciding whether to be scared of what the answer would be or curious none the less.

"They're dragons. But, you can't ride on them, as they're about the size of a small dog, or two cats."

"I'll already told you, they are being dealt with. They won't worry. And, if you want to go back home, you can, but just in these next three days. And one of our fully fledged riders will be coming with you."

"Well, as for the tour, if no one has any more questions, we'll get started. With the rooms, you have two choices. You can sleep in the dragon hold, in one of the caves, or you can stay in the dorms. And yes, you each get your own room."

Ansy turned, to see another girl, this one with one of the largest eggs she had ever seen. "Hi!"

Cora, who was already a bit weary from the beginning, was upraised to hear a cheerful reply to her questioning greeting. Jumping slightly, a easy grin slid onto her face as she re adjusted her grip on the egg. "Well hello. I'm here to talk about, whatever this is." She said, looking down at her egg then back up at the woman. "The name's Cora. What is this place? It's pretty cool down here." She said, her gaze wandering about. Her twitchiness was starting to show, as she tapped her foot and let her gaze wander as she waited for a response.

"That, my friend, is a dragon egg. And by the looks of it, a night fury! Man, all these rare dragons coming in with you guys..."

Cora stared at her and then down at her egg, then back at the woman. "It's a what?" She said, her eyes starting to grow wider and wider as she looked around the room. There were quite a few people around with all sorts of different eggs, some colored, some small, some big. Looking down at her gigantic egg, a smile grew across her face as she looked down. "What's a Night Fury?" She asked gently, tilting her head to the side. "I know it's a type of dragon, but what does it look like? Are they picky? What do they eat! Do they like to play!" She asked in rapid fire, bouncing up and down excitedly on the balls of her feet.

"A dragon, hon." She smiled as the girl grew more and more excited. "They are sort of like cats, but they look more like giant bats. They aren't very picky, and yes, they love to play."
