@Jaye @Jazimon @Hodgic

Ostagar, an ancient fortress long since abandoned and forgotten. It once represented the reach and power of the Ancient Tevinter Imperium, yet as war hounds and swords invade this land, a new memory becomes stained into the great stone walls. The darkspawn were flowing from the Deep Roads in hordes and so King Cailan intended to end the blight before it truly had a chance to begin. With the help of the Gray Wardens, The King will end the blight just like the heroes of old, however the Ferelden gray wardens are small in number which forced Duncan to seek more recruits. He had managed to find four skilled recruits spanning across all manners of life and culture, there is a newly made casteless dwarf, a vengeful human noble, and two elves, one steamed from freedom and the forest, and one who has never been free from the circle or demons.

These four along with two senior wardens, the young and playful Alistair and the kind yet firm Duncan, gather around a crackling fire to discuss the days events. "Now then, since you are all here, we can begin" Duncan starts, " You five will be heading into the Korcari Wild to perform two tasks. The first is to obtain four vials of darkspawn blood, one vial for each recruit. The second task involves you five going to a Gray Warden archive in the Wilds, abandoned long ago when we could no longer afford maintain such a remote outpost. It has recently come to out attention that some scrolls have been left behind, magically sealed to protect them. I want you to retrieve these scrolls if you can, for they contain treaties promising support which may prove valuable in the upcoming battles.Understood?" When no one immediately asks questions Duncan turns his gaze on Alistair, "Look after your charges, Alistair. Return quickly and safely. May the Maker watch over you, I will see you when you return" With a nod Alistair leads his charges out of the encampment and into the Wild.

Caine looks around the wilderness with wonder, it wasn't like the forests he has back in Highever. There was a vastness and danger attached to it that he was not familiar to, yet he was not afraid. Darkspawn, wolves, and whatever else was in the Wild was not going to stop him from completing his ultimate goal, to end the Howe family for good. On high alert he continued deeper into the Wild, noticing that Alistair, although he was supposedly the leader, was absentmindedly falling into step with the others rather than pushing them forward. At least he was until the group stumbled upon a wounded soldier, the sole survivor of a scouting party who were ambushed by darkspawn. Without being prompted Alistair bandaged up the warrior and sent him back to Ostagar, hurt but alive. "Well then... let's keep moving" Caine stated as he watched the limping man creep back to safety.

Altibon didn't say much to the others, mainly because he had only arrived minutes before they were gathered at the camp fire by Duncan. He didn't have any questions when he had the chance, just ready to get through the joining. "Now that we are stopped, even if briefly, I figure it would be a good chance to say our basic fighting style. I fight with my shield and sword and do well even with multiple foes. I can do my best at holding their attention while we fight." With a look hinting he just remembered something as he said that Altibon held a loose fist just in front of his chest and quickly opened it, as if releasing something into the air. He followed this movement with a wave of his hand vertically before resting his hand by his side. With the first movement a quick eye would be able to spot something coming from it and floating into the air before vanishing just above Altibon's head. The second motion made a layer that seemingly covered Altibon's whole body; not that anyone without a keen eye would notice this.

Revas had been camping at Ostagar for 2 days, and although it wasn't an actual city, it was still enough to make her feel uncomfortable. She had spoken to very little people since her arrival, save for Duncan and a messenger boy who she saw running to and fro the camp endlessly. He was an Elf, and she thought perhaps... well, she though perhaps talking to him would make her feel a bit at home. But it didn't; he was meek and anxious, and seemed all too ready to apologize over transgressions never committed.

And so she spent the last two days listening to gossip about the King and attempting to ignore Alistair's attempt at humor on the rare occasion he popped by her tent to see how she was doing. What was it he had said to her? "One good thing about the blight is how it brings people together?" She wasn't even sure she had heard him correctly when he had said it. Wasn't this a bit of a serious matter? At least Duncan was sensible enough to be concerned over the ever-increasing number of Darkspawn.

She didn't know much about the Grey Wardens. She supposed she expected them to all be somber old men, but Alistair seemed young and light hearted, and the rest of the new recruits looked professional so far... she just hoped they would prove proficient in battle as well.

The Elf couldn't hide her satisfaction when Duncan gave them their task. She had traveled through the wilds before with her clan, but she was just content with traveling outside the crumbling walls of Ostagar after two days of idleness.

"Now that we are stopped, even if briefly, I figure it would be a good chance to say our basic fighting style," she heard of her Human companions announce after the departure of an injured solider they had stumbled upon. She took a moment to close her eyes and feel the cool breeze on her skin. They hadn't even been wandering all of 10 minutes, but already she felt refreshed as though the wilds were imbuing her with a rejuvenating energy. "I fight with my shield and sword and do well even with multiple foes. I can do my best at holding their attention while we fight." She listened as the man continued, taking a glance at her companions again. She was pretty sure she knew what their fighting styles would be given their weapons, and she raised an eyebrow at the armored man.

"I have a bow," she replied dryly, "I prefer to dance with it." Her sarcasm and obvious irritation was quickly noted by their 'leader.'

"Somebody's moody." Alistair announced in a sing-song voice, causing her to glare at him in return. Perhaps it was unkind of her, but she didn't much care. She wasn't here to make friends, and her only focus was on obtaining those vials.

Kallana considers any connection to Orzammar & other dwarves to be void or at least 'ex' as she is now casteless.

The sky was making her nervous. She'd had days to get accustomed to the wide open exapanse but one didn't just get over a lifetime of expectation so quickly. She was a logical dwarf - she knew people couldn't actually just float up off into the blue air above. There were surface dwarves, after all, and all the surface races didn't seem concerned. Besides, no one underground floated up into the air (roof to catch them or no). But it didn't stop her from finding the bright sky unnerving.

At least she'd managed to stop glancing up at it so much. In public and in daylight, anyway.

Kallana had been at Ostagar for a few days, after emerging from underground for the first time in her life. What little she'd managed to carry with her, scavenged from the Deep Roads she had sold almost immediately upon entering the place. It was not the last time she'd gone to the Quartermaster and she believed she'd made quite the rapport with the man. Enough that the bolts on her back had cost less than they were worth.

But today Duncan had finally returned from the last of his recruiting and had summoned them all around the main camp fire. He set them a quest - or more accruately two - and told them that they would be heading into the Kocari Wilds. Kallana had nodded her approval - the human king might be treating the matter as trivia but of course Duncan was making preperations for when this turned into a full-blown Blight. There were always two you could count on to take Darkspawn seriously: dwarves and Grey Wardens.

Though she'd been at Ostagar for days, she had yet to properly meet the other recruits. Their marginally senior Warden - Alistair - had found her eventually and had introduced himself but she hadn't found any of the others. So it was with some interest that she joined the group of five to head out of the fortress and into the Wilds. Everyone in the group was, unsurprisingly, taller than her. A frustrating fact, nonetheless, as it meant she had to keep peering upwards to meet anyone's eyes. One was an elf, and a wild one she suspected. One was human, though she say lingering signs of nobility in him. The last was rather an enigma as their helm and armour covered most of their features. She suspected they would be joining her in the front lines, however.

They walked passed the guard and into the Wilds. Alistair, she noticed, made little effort to lead them, despite his seniority. She wondered if he'd ever actually fought darkspawn before. He's character was easy to discern - he wasn't a leader, he was a follower. He reminded her of third or fourth children of other Noble Houses; dwarves who weren't heirs to the House and who weren't spares to the House and who thus languished their lives away. She was glad she hadn't been like that (and was duly proud Bhelen hadn't been either). It was only as they came upon a wounded soldier did he spring into action.

Thus stopped, the mysteriously helmed recruit spoke up, saying that everyone should describe their fighting style. The deep voice briefly described their style before making a curious motion with their hand. The elf spoke up next, making an exasperated joke which seemed to make their 'eader' perk up. Kallana had to give a small smile too before answering herself.

"I've a bow too, but I think I'd better leave that to you." she said, giving a deferring nod to the elf. The crossbow on her back was only really there just in case. "We should split their attention between us - it seems we have similar styles. I fight best with my axe - preferably from within a small mob of foes."

Kallana was softly smiling, unaware that she was doing so. This mission felt good - she felt a little like a commander again.

Caine watched the others with interest and once everyone had a chance to talk, he stepped forward, "In case you cant tell, I fight with dual blades..." He pulled out his off hand dagger and twirled it in his hand as a demonstration. "As is custom for rouges, I would be better used outside of the thick of the fight, the outer ring will do for me!" Caine chuckled. It seemed like other than..." Cain thought for a moment, "We haven't even introduced ourselves yet. I'm Caine Cousland, the sole heir to the teyrnir of Highever." Caine bowed gracefully in spite of his armor, it was a skill that his father stressed the moment he learned to fight. "Of course..." He started as he straightened, "That all depends on if the King keeps his word and restores my land to me." He said this with an air of humor but it was clear in his eyes that this was a serious matter.

Continuing his lighthearted attitude, Caine continued, "It seems that for the most part we are all melee, well except for our hoofer over here" He said as he pointed towards the elf, throwing her joke back at her, "I say that the two of us should be in different groups, since neither of our styles really demand us to be in thick of the fight. Um..." He trailed off, tapping a finger onto his chin in thought, "Alistair and helmed boy should also be split, since they both use shields. I guess that leaves you..." He said pointing towards the dwarf who came up with the idea to split in the first place, "...to go wherever you want, lucky duck." It was a simple but logical plan, Caine figured that splitting the attention evenly between two teams was for the best considering they didn't know each other well enough to see who would work best with who.

Altibon listened to the others as they spoke and thought over what was said. "I think what she meant was to make sure they are attacking both of us rather than just one. Although if we split up we could get through this job faster. The trouble with splitting up is safety. From what I have read Grey Wardens are something you should have when fighting Darkspawn if you have never faced them before. I may have some skill with healing, but I haven't even seen a Darkspawn. If we do split here is what I propose: Alistair, Caine, and miss Dwarven in one group and for the other group miss Elvhen and myself."

Altibon leaves that for everyone to think over as he takes the moment to introduce himself. "My name is Altibon, I was born in Denerim. I was taken in by the chantry and learned to fight from one of the Templars in the Circle of Magi at Lake Calenhad." With that Altibon felt he had introduced enough for now and given the others plenty to think over what he had suggested, or so he assumed. He also wondered if the elf was paying enough attention to catch on to what he meant when he called her what he did; though he gave no hint that he had done this on purpose.

Revas listened closely to the lady Dwarf, taking note of her soft smile. She must be excited to be back into battle, she assumed. She didn't really know enough about Dwarves to come up with any other possible solution.

Next it was the Human rouge. Ah, a noble, the Elf couldn't help but to roll her eyes as he spoke of his land ownership and the King. Humans? Bad. Well, mostly bad. She hadn't really met any aside from the bad ones. Duncan seemed... okay so far. And Alistair just seemed to be missing a bit of brain. "It seems that for the most part we are all melee, well except for our hoofer over here," she heard the Human say, and caught off guard let out a snort of laughter she attempted to cover quickly with a light cough. The man probably owned dozens of Elven servants and here she was laughing at his stupid joke. Ugh.

The attention was then turned to the mysterious man dressed head to toe in armor. Miss Elvhen, he had called her, and her head immediately swiveled toward him, her brow wrinkling in concentration. It was only a slight change in the pronunciation that differentiated what most people called Elven and what the Dalish actually called themselves. Elvhen, our people. Still, it was enough of a difference that, although it would probably go unnoticed by everyone else in the party, Revas now regarded him with interest.

Healing, he had said. The Chantry? The Circle of Magi? Surely he was no mage... but if he was, he was unlike anything she had ever seen. Is this what the Chantry did with it's mages? Turned them into soldiers?

"You may all call me Revas; I'm Dalish." She announced after a moment. "I've fought the Darkspawn before, although I didn't know what they were at the time. Forming into groups of two or three to divert the Darkspawn's attention should work well enough, as long we're not suddenly ambushed with a hoard." Reaching back into her quiver, Revas collected one of her arrows and kept it in a firm grip, ready for any battle ahead.

"I don't necessarily recommend splitting up, however, but I'll go with whatever our 'faithful leader' Alistair approves," she continued, still eyeing Altibon curiously.

Kallana considers any connection to Orzammar & other dwarves to be void or at least 'ex' as she is now casteless.

The human described his fighting style (a rogue) and kicked off the introductions. She'd been correct, of course; he was a noble. A human noble, but the signs were still clear to her. Admittedly it would be interesting to hear of the differences between their two races nobility. Kallana had limited knowledge of the surface. Amusingly (in a black humour sort of manner) it seemed he was in a similar position as she was: the heir to nobility, but barred from it. The difference was, though, that he could and had appealled to his human King to remove the bar. She could do no such thing - even if her brother somehow had the throne stolen out from under him the Assembaly would never agree to return her Caste to her.

But it was a fool who coveted envy.

Caine went on to suggest the group splitting up. She wasn't keen to on a personal level, but it made strategic sense. they had two tasks to do and five people to do them was a bit much. It wasn't until the mystery helm spoke that she realised he 'splitting up' idea had apparently come from her. Altibon followed the trend of introductions - a templar, it seemed, which was almost as novel as a mage in her eyes. She had always been curious about how the humans avoided getting lyrium-addled when their templars dosed themselves. Though he mentioned a 'Circle of Magi' too. Wasn't there a mage in the Ostagar camp who had said that's were the surfacers kept all their mages? She supposed it made sense that one would find templars there, but it seemed amateur to train recruits there. Her noble-senses where tingling.

The elf - Revas, apparently - added her opinion. A smart opinion, or so thought Kallana. She made a mental note to ask about the elf's darkspawn encounter later. Not to her surprise but to her disappointment, Alistair made no move to add his input and looked to her instead. Altibon or Caine were more leaders than the Grey Warden was - Stone even Revas was.

"The hoard itself will not swarm up here. And certainly not without us noticing." she reported in an automatic tone. Paying attention proper to the group, she continued;

"My name is Kallana." she had no surname to give anymore, nor could she even add where she'd been born and had lived like the others had. She had no claim to such things anymore, "Excluding our full-blooded Warden," she gave Alistair a deferential nod and noticed his uncomfotable look at her phrasing, "It sounds like I have the most experience fighting darkspawn. Splitting up has its advantages, though all five of us should simply be able to overwhelm any foes." she looked specifically at Altibon as she next spoke, "I have to disagree with your suggestion, though. You voice your trepedation and then you say you should wander off on your own, putting you and Revas in danger?"

Kallana's voice was firm, not that it was anything personal. But mistakes like these were basic things in her world - and basic mistakes got good warriors and god dwarves killed. Well, they got important dwarves killed - it was the same thing to most of the noble caste. In her eyes her firm correction was nothing more than scolding a young warrior caste recruit.

"Alistair and I should split up - if of course we split at all. But retrieving the Grey Warden's scrolls is the priority, so Alistair and two others need to go get those first. They can always join the 'Vial Hunting' party afterwards." she said it with all the confidence of a commanding officer, before remembering that she wasn't. Trying to take back the sheer weight of her confidence, she added in an unsure tone; "Or, so I think."

She faced their defacto leader properly, "What say you, Alistair?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, good plan" He nodded sharply in approval, seemingly almost shocked that he was addressed. Clearing his throat awkwardly and standing tall in an attempt to at least appear like a leader, "Ok.. I guess Altibon and Revas can go get the blood vials but make sure you close up any wounds right away, darkspawn blood is nasty stuff." He said to Altibon since he knew that the boy was a mage, "The rest of us will push our way to the archive as fast as possible, we cant have those treaties swooped out from under our noses. Head back to the base as soon as your finished alright? The darkspawn get more active in the dark, and Duncan will kill me if any of you get hurt." He looked around the group and pointed two thumbs towards the deepest parts of the forest, "If you need us, we'll be that way." Wit mixed emotions the two teams split up, each heading in different directions to perform their designated tasks.

The melee trio headed into the woods on high alert yet there was little reason to be worried at first. Caine didn't see a problem with the plan, yet he was curious how the others would be able to close any wounds they received without a mage around. They ran into a pack of wolves but that was mostly it. "I've got to say, the wilds are much more friendly than I thought they would be. So far this just feels like a regular hunting trip." Caine reminisced as he leaned next to corpse of one of the beats and tried to get off the blood from his sword using the grass. "You both have fought darkspawn before, right? What's it like?" He asked curiously as he sheathed his blade.

"Darkspawn? Their ugly things, they got this skin that just like, ugh, and they screech like..." Alistair didn't even finish his sentence, instead deciding that shivering dramatically was enough descirption.

The human noble rolled his eyes at the warden and glanced at Kallana. "What a poet right?" Caine mumbled to her but he still could be seen chuckling. The trio continued on without much conflict yet when they approached the left over ruins of a bridge Alistair held out an hand and drew his weapon. He looked serious when he told them to watch out for darkspawn, he could sense that they were near. "You two go first, I can handle getting the jump on people but not the other way around. Besides, your armor looks a bit stronger than mine." Caine said motioning towards all the skin his armor was showing. He wore this for speed and silence, he normally wasn't in the thick of battle so being head to toe in metal was pointless. Quietly he whispered, motioning across the bridge "Ladies first"

Altibon nodded to the three as they went on their way, taking Alistair's words to heart. He had heard of some of the effects of Darkspawn blood from mages, templars, and the various books. Altibon kept a mental note to be ready to cast a heal spell at a moment's notice in case either him or Revas got hurt. The armor clad mage then turned to his companion, "I'll lead the way in hopes to take most of the direct conflict. Sound like a plan?" Even though Altibon figured this was what would end up happening anyway he figured asking was better than assuming. The elven mage then turned to start off in a slightly different path than the others, one that seemed to have a bridge made by a tree with some corpses hanging from it.

Without speaking Altibon motioned towards the other side of the mounds of earth, hoping his hint would let Revas know that he heard something up ahead. With careful and quiet movements Altibon readied his sword and got into a better stance for combat. As he did this Altibon activated his Combat Magic to ready himself for the coming fight if there would be one. Altibon decided to wait for Revas to be readied before he did anything.

The Dalish Elf folded her arms, arrow still in hand, and pursed her lips as she awaited Alistair's command. Either he hadn't been paying attention, or he was interested in another viewpoint, as he then shifted his gaze over to Kallana.

Kallana had the voice of an experienced leader, voicing her opinion with full confidence. She seemed to disagree with Altibon and Revas heading off alone, stating that the armored man might 'put her in danger.' Does she think I can't take care of myself? Revas mused, it would be likely. Her armor wasn't as heavy as most of the people in the party, and she imagined she must seem waif-like to a sturdy Dwarf like Kallana. Revas might have said something were it not for the fact that the Dwarf then turned to Alistair for his final (or first really) input.

All eyes were on the Human 'Leader' and he seemed to shift uncomfortably under their gaze. "Huh? Oh yeah, good plan," he began, seemingly snapped out of a daze. Revas covered her face with her left hand and began a slow mental countdown from 10. She wasn't exactly sure why the man seemed to get under her skin so much... actually she knew why. Incapable; that was Alistair in a nutshell. Just, incapable! She quietly growled, uncovering her face so she could pay full attention to his commands.

Soon enough they had split up, and she found herself partnered with Altibon after all. Alistair had mentioned healing, just as Altibon had, so she had come to the conclusion that he must be a mage. Either that or some sort of alchemist. But what of the Elvish he had used earlier? Would it even matter though, a part of her wondered. City Elves could be just as bad as Humans...

"I'll lead the way in hopes to take most of the direct conflict. Sound like a plan?" The mysterious armored man announced, heading toward a path near a tree where corpses were hung like ornaments.

"I know these Wilds, my clan passes through here once a year. I can-" she is suddenly cut short when Altibon motions ahead of them and assumes a fighting stance. Ah, a mage after all, she concluded, noticing as he activates a spell.

Crouching, she sets down her bow, reaching into her rucksack to procure a flask of murky green liquid. She opens the flask, and taking the arrow in her hand, dips the arrowhead into the flask. Closing the flask she places it back inside her rucksack, and gathering her bow from the floor, she carefully draws the string back.

"Ghilas!" She absentmindedly whispers, nodding her head to indicate she will follow him.

Kallana considers any connection to Orzammar & other dwarves to be void or at least 'ex' as she is now casteless.

She was unimpressed with the decision, but Kallana trusted in the Grey Warden. He clearly knew something about the helmed man that the rest of them did not. Or that she did not, anyway. They headed off in one direction, Alistair vaguely leading, and came across little trouble. Wolves - driven rabid by the taint, no doubt - attacked but were made short work of. Caine spoke up, after the battle, seemingly making small talk before asking about their experience with Darkspawn.

Kallana allowed a small smirk at Alistair's description - it wasn't professional but it was accruate. Paragons knows that one needed some humour in this line of work. She gave Caine a friendly smile at his comment before adding; "In his defense, he's not wrong. Darkspawn are brutes and they're mindless - but for what they lack in brains they make up for in viciousness and numbers. Don't let your guard down and never assume you have the upperhand."

At least on the surface they could just... retreat in almost any direction. The tunnels underground had a nasty habit of trapping you in with ten darkspawn on one side and ten on the other.

With only minor skirmishes, they continued on until they came to the ruins of a bridge. Alistair, for the first time, looked serious. There were darkspawn ahead. Kallana nodded firmly at Caine's words, drawing her axe and taking the lead.

Out wide but only a few steps behind, Alistair followed. She kept her greataxe at the ready and kept her eyes out for the approaching darkspawn.

With Kallana leading and Caine pulling up the back, the trio continued across the bridge. Kallana had just reached the center when in a puff of smoke , a half dozen forms burst out of the ground. Hurlocks and genlocks appeared from no where, screeching and holding their weapons in a threatening manner. Caine raised his blades and snapped around, putting his back against Alistairs in order to make sure that no one could sneak up on him, "I got those two archers, you two, stick with these guys." Caine said, pouncing into action. Using his light weight armor to his advantage, Caine sprinted past the hurlocks who had appeared in front of him and headed towards the furthest genlock. It and it's friend shot two bolts from their crossbow, aiming for the nobles heart. Caine managed to dodge it by rolling out of the way, hardly losing speed as he continued his mad dash towards the enemies. Once he was within arm reach of the first archer it made the fool mistake to stand and fight, pulling out daggers to replace the cross bow. The genlock first made a sweep towards Caines legs in an attempt to bring the main vitals down to its level. The attack was blocked by Caines sword however, the clash of metal against metal sending sparks through the air. While the genlock was focused on the sword Caine took his off hand dagger and swung down, piercing the skull of the creature and ending its cursed life. "One down..." An arrow shot through the air and planted itself near Caines feet, "One to go..."

The second archer was not as stupid as the other one, when Caine attempted to approach it retreated to a safe distance before shooting another round of bolts. "Squirrely little bastard" Caine murmured as he side stepped another bolt from the crossbow. Caine took a deep breath and focused on the foe, looking for any weaknesses in its armor, "There..." He said, when he noticed that the creature was wearing a severely cracked greaves. Caine slowly pulled something from his pack and threw it in between the creature and himself, a smoke bomb. The small area was engulfed in smoke, give Caine cover as he snuck around the darkspawn. By the time the smoke cleared it was to late, Caine drove his dagger into the leg of the creature, crippling him. The genlock fell to the ground and was helpless as Caine dug the tip of his sword into his eye. "Done and done." He said ripping his blade out from the skull and looking up to see that Alistair and Kallana had managed to take down their targets as well. "You guys okay? Either of you hurt?" Caine asked when he approached, sheathing his blades.

With a nod Altibon made his way around the mound where Genlocks and Hurlocks awaited. "Hey ya ugly beasts, over here!" He shouted, drawing their attention to himself. There were only a few of them, three of each kind all looking to be melee types. One of the Genlocks was first to make it to Altibon as it swung its main hand weapon at the knee of his armor. Altibon lifted his leg a bit, forcing the blade to collide with the hard plate metal shin. Using the momentum of setting his foot back down Altibon swung his sword diagonally hard against the neck of the creature. Even though he didn't cut fully through he did get the blade deep enough into the body to kill the Genlock. The other Darkspawn saw this and readied themselves for the fight, roaring and clanging their weapons and shields together. A Hurlock was next to reach Altibon as it swung its sword at him with a shield ready to block a counter. Altibon simply moved his shield towards the Hurlock's weapon to meet the force; this knocked the sword outward giving an opening for Altibon to stab the Hurlock in the chest. Even though this gave the monster a fatal wound, it did not kill it right away. The others started to come towards Altibon in a fairly tight group seemingly attempting to overwhelm their foe with numbers since they clearly were not going to win one at a time. 'These numbers must be small compared to what is out there,' Altibon thought, realising that this small amount was nothing for a group of two or three couldn't easily handle.

So far for the majority if the day today Mathias was silent, seemingly silent enough to not be noticed by anybody. He was surprised at that, he was used to people wanting to talk to him just because of his last name. Well then again his last name doesn't mean much now, now you may wonder what's his last name? Well people will be surprised to find out that Mathias was the youngest son of Bryce Cousland. Word around camp was that Arl Rendon Howe attacked the Couslands home just the night before, and the worst part of it all was the fact that his older brother was here in the very wilds that Mathias was in now. Mathias needed to tell Fergus about the recent events with the family, so Fergus will take the throne as Arl of Highever. He spent the entire day just looking around army's camp, and the part of the wilds that the group of recruits had already searched for already.

Then the attack with the genlocks happened, that snapped him back to his normal self in a flash. He grabbed his kite shield and his trusty mace before he charged into the fray like a bat out of hell. He let a quick battle cry before he started fighting. He blocked the first genlocks attack with his shield, he pushed the genlock back, causing it to stumble and nearly tripping on it's feet. Mathias took a downward swing, aiming for the genlocks skull, the impact was hard enough for Mathias to hear something cracking, the genlock fell down dead. Then came the second one, he saw the crack in the armor, and with his blunt weapon, this will be perfect weak spot. Then a smoke bomb exploded, Mathias coughed as he made his way through the smoke, obviously not caring the fact that the genlock could possibly ambush Mathias and hit a weak spot.

Mathias was lucky enough to make it through the smoke while he held his shield up, because the genlock was away from the smoke with its crossbow ready to fire, and it did so. The shield blocked the bolt as Mathias charged at the Darkspawn, hitting it hard right in the cracked spot in the armor. The Darkspawn fell to the ground on his chest before Mathias hit him in the head once, then twice, then third, and then he decided to back the skull a couple more time, to get the rage out if his system, by the time the skull was nothing but mush and brain matter, Mathias decided to stop even with more rage in his system. He closed his eyes before he seemed to calmed down enough for intellectual conversation.

He looked back at the two people that was in his trio to get to the archive which is somewhere in the wilds right now according to the commander of the Wardens of this country said at least. He cleared his throat before he said. "Shall we get going? Can't stay out at night, which we will be at this rate." He said before he put his shield in his back, but keeping the mace in his hand, having a string feeling that he will be needing it shortly.

Used to be her 'second'; now casteless & exiled

Kallana considers any connection to Orzammar & other dwarves to be void or at least 'ex' as she is now casteless.

Darkspawn appeared around them, some appearing from stealth and others running in from hiding. A hurlock in front of her took her attention and she swung her axe into it's side. The creature howled in pain and Kallana howled right back, a primal cry Threatening the entire group of darkspawn to fight her. She launched herself into the battle - her instincts and training coming back like a childhood lullaby.

She pointed Alistair ahead at a darkspawn waving a staff and making havoc. "We need to take that one out first." she new emissaries would cause them terrible trouble if not dealt with fast. She bolted for the genlock, Alistair following fast. It was good to see that the man had obvious combat training, even if he was no leader. He had the final blow on the emissary, too. The melee pair turned to finish the rest, baiting the creatures to run at them and cutting them down as they came.

Panting, Kallana looked around as the last of her foes fell down dead and noticed that the fight was over. Her attention snapped up as their previously quiet companion spoke, lamenting how long they were taking. She supposed there may be secrets and tricks about the surface that made time passing matter so much, but mostly she was unimpressed. A fight took as long as it needed to. They were not conducting some grand pincer move with another squad, they were not being waited on by the Assembly. Why did it matter if they were out until night?

Still, a split amoungst the ranks would hardly impress her new commander - nor her superior who would surely report back. With a glance at Alistair from her peripherals, she spoke up.

"Let us press on." she began to walk ahead, but turned her head to look at Alistair properly as she asked, "We're to continue this way to the archives?"

With a somewhat surprised confirmation from the Grey Warden, Kallana took it upon herself ot lead the trio further through the Wilds.
