Dragon Age: Inquisition

"Great then. So what is our first order of business? Getting some help, support or contacts?" asked Grace.

"If we need money, I got a few contacts that could help," spoke Grace.

(I'm so sorry about the delay and short post! IRL it's finals week, so probably most of my replies will be slow and short.)

Cassandra thought for a moment. "We need help, support. If we want any chance of closing the Breach, we need an army. Do not worry about that yet, Grace. For now, Phoenix should rest." Recalling how Grace had stayed with Phoenix while she was unconscious, she added, "You both should."

Phoenix assumed that she and Grace were dismissed. She gestured for Grace to follow her and left the Chantry. Rest? As if! There was far too much here that she could explore with Grace.

"How about we go talk with Ser Elven Mage?" offered Grace indicating at the Elven Mage Solas, as they exited the Chantry. "He seemed to know something about the Rift aka giant-hole in the sky."

"They way he carried himself and acted, despite his look - he kinda looked like your old Keeper. Wise, powerful and unknown to the trained eye," she added. "That...Solas, yes? He'd probably know something - seeing as they were found close to the Rift."

Phoenix gasped. "He totally looks like the Keeper!" She tilted her head in thought. "Solas is better looking through," she joked. "Let's go find him." Phoenix planned on wondering around aimlessly until they found him.

They found Varric first. "Well, well. If it isn't Fizzle and Jinx. Here for a story?"

"Actually, we're looking for Solas," Phoenix answered. "We have questions."

Varric looked disappointed. "Chuckles is over there," he said, gesturing to a small hut where a familiar bald elf stood outside.

Grace soon bounced towards Solas, with Phoenix in toe. Soon enough the human girl, was infront of the elven mage - looking at him, like a piece of priceless treasure. "So, I heard you were the expert about giant rips in the sky?"

"Well, I got my venna aka sis here, with a green-stamp that allows her to send those rifts back to their owner," spoke Grace. "I wondered, if you could educate us a little. So we don't accidentally open a bigger rift, or send ourselves through one."

"Like for one. What the heck, is that thing in the sky!" yelped Grace, her mood having turned from cheery to maniac.

Phoenix was slightly flustered after being dragged to talk to Solas. Solas also looked surprised to see the two girls. "I happen to have extensive knowledge of the Fade, and knowledge of the spirits within. The Fade is my area of expertise. That 'thing in the sky' as you so eloquently phrased it, is the Breach. It is a physical hole in the Veil, although it seems to be stable now, thanks to your venna. The smaller rifts we discovered are smaller holes and tears in the Veil. The Veil is the boundary between the Fade and here. The spirit realm and the physical," he explained. "The chance of opening a bigger rift or sending yourselves through accidentally is very small. Opening the rifts takes more energy than closing them does. Phoenix would Most likely pass out again before she opens a rift. It is also very difficult to physically go through a rift. It is unnatural, and so the body resists. Leaving the Fade through a rift very nearly killed Phoenix. Does that make sense?"

Phoenix nodded. She had decided that Solas was a good teacher. "Thank you," she said. "For saving me."

"Hope we can then stop it. Before the Fade or whatever made that, spits out another rift," said Grace, looking between Phoenix and Solas.

"Why is it you elves, have the coolest tricks and secrets hidden in your sleeves..." she added.

"We're awesome like that," Phoenix said. "And we're mages."

"We have more practical knowledge of magic, because we are not from the Circle," Solas added. "Do you have any other questions?"

"Yes, actually," Phoenix said. "I wasn't able to bring books from my clan with me. Do you have any that I can borrow?"

"Certainly, but doesn't the Chantry have a library?"

"Yes, but I don't like those books. They're all religious texts. Chant of Light, Maker this, Maker that... No offense, Grace. Anyway, I'd rather read about our own pantheon."

"Feel free. Any particular subject?" Solas asked.

"The Fade." Phoenix decided. "And, do you have any books about...Fen'Harel?"

Solas looked shocked. "Is there a particular reason why you'd like to read about the Dread Wolf?"

"He's my favorite god. I know it sounds really weird, but I've always found his legends fascinating!"

Solas blinked several times. "I probably have a book of legends and tales somewhere."

(I'm a terrible, terrible person. Do you know how the game ends?"

(Yeah. Both original and Tresspasser DLC)

"She is more like a fangirl of your God. Having told, that among the Creators - that Fen'Harrel would be among, whom you could pray to, do get some help," said Grace.

"But I have always wondered. Solas - if the Fade is our realm of dreams and belief, is there a possibility of the Maker exsisting inside the Fade? He has to be somwhere..."

"I'm not a fangirl!" Phoenix said defensively. "I'm just...curious. Grace, do you remember back when we were kids, and we played with the Fen'Harel statue? We'd use it for tag, and hide-and-seek and stuff. I remember making the flower crowns and trying to throw them over the head. That was when the Keeper told me to quit disrespecting the statue. He was so mad! He told me later that he expected no less from a Shemlen, but as a candidate for Keeper's First, he expected better, and I may bring trouble upon the clan."

By now, Solas looked bewildered. "I was unaware that children played with the statues. To answers your question, Grace, if there is a Maker, he very likely dwells in some hidden Fade plain."

"Sure, nothing can bring more trouble than telling your people that Fen'Harel is bad; and then praying to the same statue when some huge monster is going to eat you," said Grace. "So we good and bad - what I thought for ages, from the stories that Fen'Harel sounded more like a trickster, according to your lore. And they are usually bad-mouthed, because of well...you know."

"Yay, I still might find Him," giggled Grace, then got an idea at that and looked at Grace. "You know, we don't have a statue of Fen'Harel around. Maybe we could fetch one? A wolf statue for humans, Fen'Harel to you and flower-crown target for kids."

Phoenix thought a Fen'Harel statue to guard Haven was a great idea. "Where would we find one? It's really bad to move or steal one. I suppose we could ask a craftsman to make one, but a Shemlen would mess it up, and I'm pretty sure that Solas and I are the only elves here."

"I might have one statue of him - I found it on the side of the road once, covered in grass. Its unfortunately broken in half, but maybe you can use your magic to fix it," said Grace - soon disappearing to her merchant' tent. And then carrying out two pieces of a broken statue of Fen'Harrel.

"I tried keeping it together with glue, but it didn't work. Can you two do something?"

Phoenix tilted her head sideways as she stared at the broken statue. "I think we can," she raised her staff, which she always kept with her, and cast a spell. Both edges of the statue glowed with yellow eyes, and fused together. The seam glowed blue before it disappeared. "There! Good as new," Phoenix said proudly.

"Yay! Toy wolf to hug," giggled Grace, hugging the statue. "You wanna go make and throw some flower-crowns?"

Grace with that soon left, with the statue and placed in the middle of their camp, setting it to look good and be playable for the other kids around here.

Solas raised an eyebrow when Grace hugged the statue. Phoenix used her staff to summon a flower crown and she tossed it around his neck. "Yes!" she said, pumping her fist in the air. "I've still got it!" She didn't mention that when she ws a child, she occasionally had used magic to ensure the flower crowns landed on the statue, but a faint smile from Solas indicated that he had figured it out.

(Omg, forgot about this totally. Can we speed it up, a little? It kinda feels to slow on occasion, maybe skipping ahead some quests, then get back to interaction?)

xxx

"I want to try too," giggled Grace. "Albeit maybe later, this has been a rather, crazy weekend. With the all templars, mages, demons and rifts being ripped into the sky and so on."

"Guess, its time for the hero-saves-world time. Again. Where is a Grey Warden when you need one, damnit it," said Grace, looking around her for anything resembling a Grey Warden.

I'm working on a time skip now. Do you want to just skip to where we meet everyone else or what?

(Skip to meet the rest. Although suggest avoiding recruiting mages. Else Phoenix will be scarred for life, xD )

(I promise I haven't forgotten. Real life has been kinda tough right now.)

(I'm so sorry that it's so late! Real life has been hectic.)

Several days after Phoenix, Grace and Solas had set up the statue of Fen'Harel, Phoenix was wondering around Haven, looking for Solas so that she could return some of his books that she had borrowed. She had spent a lot of time with him. They talked about almost everything; books, elvish lore and history, magic, mages, the Circle, the Chantry, the Fade, Phoenix's clan, and each other. Phoenix already considered Solas a friend.

She found him outside of his little hut. He smiled when she approached. "Good afternoon, Lethallin."

"Hi, Solas. I finished the Lore and Legends of Fen'Harel. It was interesting. My favorite story was The Slow Arrow."

"I am pleased to hear that. Fen'Harel and the Tree has always seemed the most plausible."

Phoenix laughed slightly. "You don't think they're true?"

"Perhaps they have their basis in truth, but the legends have become warped and twisted beyond recognition of Fen'Harel himself."

Phoenix rolled her eyes. "Oh, how would you know?"

Before he could respond, Cassandra walked up to them. "I need you and Grace in the War Room. Some allies have just arrived, and we're having a meeting."

"I'll go find her." Phoenix offered. It occured to her that she hadn't seen Grace for a while. What had that rogue been up to?"

He saw her hanging out, with the new soldiers of the Inquisition - or namely, hired help. She was currently, having fun around the Chargers - the Iron Bull, laughing as the woman in question; was dancing and prancing along while set on fire.

Albeit, knewing her - it was another test or trial for her. No harm for her, and usually some harm for anybody stupid enough to try and help her. It was usually the common factor, around here - as people usually avoided her; since she had a habit, of accidentally setting them on fire, than herself.

And considering, what she usually carried around her waist - some thought, she might at one moment, blow up half the castle with her shenanigans.

Phoenix wandered around Haven until she found Varric. She grinned when she saw the dwarf. "-so meanwhile Isabella and Angel are still missing, but we had Fenris' pants. We found Aveline, and she helped us. She had arrested Isabella for Public Indecency. Apparently, she was table dancing." A group of humans laughed, and Varric continued. "I was afraid that Hawke had been kidnapped in her first day as viscount. Merril runs in the courtyard with a ball of twine and she says, "Hi Varric! Hi Anders! Wait... Anders, why do you have Fenris' pants? He might need them.""

Phoenix laughed, and Varric looked up. "Hey, Jinx! What can I do for you?"

"Hey, Shortie," she teased. "I'm looking for Grace."

"Last I saw, Fizzle was with Tiny and the rest of the Chargers."

"Thanks, Shortie," Phoenix said, heading to where the Chargers had set up camp.

Sure enough, Iron Bull was leading a rowdy party. He leaned over and picked up Grace effortlessly, placing her on his shoulders. Phoenix rolled her eyes and quickened her pace. "Grace! Gracie! Meeting in the War Room! Cassandra needs us! "

"Sure, thing, sis," said Grace, corking a brew - and soon pouring it over her body - smothering the flames.

"All right, people - show's over. You want your dinner cooked, then you unfortunately need to start a fire," spoke Grace - as she jumped down from ontop of Bull' shoulder. "Thanks for being big - big guy. See ya'll later."

With that note of farewell - Grace soon joined, Phoenix in heading back to the War Room. "SO? What is today agenda? We going after somebody new? Or trying to prevent, the giant hole in the sky - from puking out more demons?"
