[Downloads] Calendar, Cheat Sheet & Battlewheel

In Exalted 2, they do give some motivation as to why the seasons work as they do. Basically the First Age solars wanted a long growing season.

A suggestion for the battle wheel:

Add more concentric rings to it representing the DV penalties of the players. So, as they move around the circle, they also move towards or away from the center as their DV changes.

I had actually altered the number of days in a week, making it six days a week with four weeks a month ( for 24 days a month) instead of the seven days a week, four weeks (for 28 days a month).
This was due to the length of year being 425 days with the normal calendar and 365 days with the shortened year.
*brushes the dust off* Almost surprised my account didn't get deleted in the ages it's been since I last got on.

Anyhow...there's one problem I admit I have with this...the months change with each new cycle of the moon, or every 28 days. It's a lunar calendar that Creation goes under. Earth actually used to go by this same lunar calendar millenia ago, with 15 months and 28 day months...the myseriously, the calendars all around the world changed to what we now currently use. Even more interestingly, they all did it at about the same time, and a number had no way of communication. Go figure, huh? :P

In any case, changing the days in the months seems more canon-breaking than season or month shuffling, and as I'm already suspending disbelief enough to believe people can swing around forty+ pound swords that are bigger than they are like they're feather-light and can jump straight up a couple stories without any real effort, it's not too hard to accept a 425 day calendar. :D

Something I've pondered. If Creation has 15 months of 28 days each plus 5 days of Calibration, and the number of years they live is about the same, doesn't that mean Creation humans live about 16% longer than we puny earthlings?

It's proximity . . . being that close to all the Greatness and Wonderment that are Exalted Beings, Creation humans get bonus years . . . bastages, lol

Yep. They live longer...and throw in a little alchemy, or exaltation, or hard work getting a god to like you or something, and you can enhance that even further. Even heroic mortals are often better off...so long as they can survive in the Age of Sorrows. The killer in Creation isn't old age, it's disease, battle, and the various Chosen, Demons, Fae, etc.

As for the 13 month lunar calendar, we don't quite have that, but close enough...obviously our modern calendar, while inspired by a lunar calendar, is not longer such. What's always interested me is how at one point the calendars around the world all changed...for example the old roman calendar our current one is based off had 10 months of 28 days each. (so way shorter than ours) There's a reason the months aren't properly numbered for their names.  Now, ancient humans certainly had the ability to tell when a year started and ended just fine, and could make a calendar that followed such...so a calendar that was extremely inaccurate (like a 280 day calendar on a 365  1/4 ish day world) wouldn't last very long... Something changed the calendar rather significantly, and it, along with all the other calendars around the world changed.  The archaeology of a number of sites from before that time supports such...as the sites like many later ones are built in accord with certain calendar cycles built into the design...but no longer accurate.
