DotFA PDf

For $42

I feel like I got suckered for buying the original box set.

From now on I am not buying any more White Wolf books until the errata comes out for it.

Of course it's not very nice to have a book filled with errors and in dire need of Errata, but if you didn't buy the book first time around, no way they would make an Errata or public it as a PDF later on. At least you don't have to buy this PDF in order to get the Errata.

I think I read somewhere that the Errata was incorporated into this new text, specifically the stuff for Lords of Creation.

You can also get the errata online for free, if that's all you want.
I can gets lots of stuff from the web for 'free', but let's not go down that path.

The issue is my righteous indignation over buying some shitty books. The errata team admits that the original authors seemed to have no idea about the game or mechanics. The staff at White Wolf allowed this trash to be printed. And now if I want to use these source books in a game I can either use the crappy non-working version or shuffle a bunch of print outs around and cross reference the shitty book.

What annoys me is that most of the books are rewritten. This is not a keyword here and a clarification there, but a total rewrite of most of the books.

Is the proof-reading and editing that bad at White Wolf that complete trash is sold? I can't stick a few post-it notes on the page with the corrections with this amount of rewriting, I need to print and bind my own books now. I would be better off ripping out the pages of fluff text and the cover of the books and then I would have the new version after I print the errata.

I am done giving my money to WW for trash just to be told to ignore the books I paid for and use some print outs I got from the web for free. They don't even apologize to the people that bought the original books.

They are acting just like Wizards of the Cost did with D&D 3.5. The original books had some problems, so they printed some new books for you to buy.

No thanks.

I don't see the problem, don't buy their books if you don't like what they write in them.

Personally I'm very happy with almost every aspect of my DotFA books, only big exception is the Solar charms. But Lands of Creation is just pure gold.

Oh, it may lighten your mood that in the future WW won't print any more books, PDF only and maybe POD if they can find a good solution for it.

We're used to WW books being badly editted.. this is fine if everybody has the same, badly editted version.

The problem is when they then rerelease the badly done books and do them properly.. leaving us who actually buy the books and have -supported- WW .. with a book that is now basically useless and needs to be replaced.. having to buy it twice, and still only in PDF at that (I hate PDF, but that's a whole seperate argument)

It's a very poor way of doing things that pisses off your hardcore fanbase. Given that pdfs don't cost anything once actually made, they could at least do us the decency of allowing those with the actual books to redeem them in some way and get a free copy of a PDF. I know I won't be buying a PDF version of a book I already own

Tja, I find it pretty cool that they actually incooperates the Errata in the PDF, something they normally can't do as they are released at the same time.

For myself, I only have the book version because I like having lots and lots of books, not because I actually use them when I game, where I have everything on my laptop. So I don't mind having to buy it twice, just like I do with every other book, I'm just glad that I can finally get it in a good legal version instead of the crappy illigal version I have had till now.

I question the illegality of it if you already own the hard-copy.

more contribution edit: I also would like it if they were to allow the purchasers of the ailing hard-copy to have access to the shiny new PDF. The only reason I can imagine why not is the little bit of piracy risk with each pdf sold, or maybe Drive-thru wouldn't let them.

I imagine it would be a logistical nightmare to try to allow those of us with the original to redeem it for a pdf. Especially since they're selling it through a 3rd party, not their own storefront.

I don't know about nightmare, but possibly difficult I would understand. Since it was a limited run product each set has it's own serial number, which by all means isn't the be all end all of making this easy, but it's helpful.
