At least the Husk was trying to stand.
Otto continued to struggle against that infernal barrier separating him from both Kori and the Husk itself. He felt like he'd been trapped inside a glass coffin, unable to reach out to those around him. It almost infuriated him. He just sighed silently and continued pushing, hoping to crack the barrier. When Kori spoke, she didn't have to. He knew what she would say before the words left her mouth, even if that knowledge was blurred and distant.
Processing her words, Otto sighed again and closed his eyes. He'd been waiting for her to say that, to tell him he had to do something he'd hoped he would never have to do. And yet, though this moment had been a dreaded one, he felt no fear towards it. After a moment's hesitation, he responded.
"Very well. K.C., I accept you."
And with that, he opened his mind to the yellow eyed girl. He drew back the curtain he had placed over his thoughts, the veil that hid his true feelings and intentions. Trusted her with his determination to pilot this Husk, his fear at what awaited them, his doubts about his ability to pilot. Trusted her with his fascination of the colour of her eyes. He reached out to the Husk, also trusting it with his secrets. Slowly opening his eyes, his fingers tightened around the control grips. Though his face remained as blank as ever, he felt lighter than he had ever felt before.
"I accept you."
He repeated, quietly this time. He didn't need to say anymore to recognise he addressed not only Kori, but the Husk as well. Something was approaching; he could feel it. Something big. With his mind unfurled to both Kori and the strange machine they sat within, he hoped they'd interface properly in time to stop whatever it was.
