๐ofia watched the boy before her for a moment, envious of his ability to be so untroubled, while it was true she did not know him at all โ to her it was clear he marched to the beat of his own drum; she was always worried others may not like her beat or perhaps it would be too loud. She had overcome many of her own personal obstacles in life but it was rather easy to fall back into the mindset her mother had forced her into, Sofia did not wish to be the small, meek girl she truly was. She craved to be stronger, to speak out against injustice and advocate for those who couldn't and while she did her best to live by those principles it seemed she still lacked the very thing Sasha himself had; the capacity to be so care-free. As much as she enforced her desired principles, she couldn't help but wonder what others would think of her, what her mother would say. And yet, somehow she always knew what her mother would say - she couldn't run from that domineering voice in her head telling her she wasn't good enough, that she should try harder. Sofia was a work in progress, but she didn't mind that. As long as there was something to work towards.
Her lips pulled away to reveal a genuine smile at the mention of the boys brother, she herself had always wished for a sibling, she thought it might've saved her from the loneliness of childhood. โI don't know if your brother could say no to a face like that,โ Sofia commented, once again referring to the furry faced friend that Sasha had introduced her to. It was sweet to know Sasha didn't have to face life alone, again, she didn't know anything about what he might've went through but surely having not to face it by himself was the better alternative. โI suppose it would only make sense that he'd be kind too.โ She doubted such a boy of innocence could have an awful brother though she, herself, had an awful mother but she'd managed to be kind enough or at least she thought so.
Sofia followed Sasha with little hesitance this time becoming more comfortable in the presence of a stranger, her eyes fell to the kennel indicated by the brunette, immediately she could spot that this one was a senior animal. It upset her to think, this cat was once someone's baby and now it sat alone. She wondered if he had been loved well in it's life, she hoped he had. Her eyes softened at the ball of fur, her painted pointer finger hooking around the wired bar of his cage as she continued to observed him โI've never held a cat, I don't want to do it wrong.โ Sofia admitted in a small voice, she had already decided this would be the cat she'd give a home. โI'd like to adopt this one, Sasha.

sasha nodded solemnly. "he can not." he confirmed, staring at the cat. he actually had no clue whether dakho would be able to say no to him or not, but as far as sasha was concerned, he'd agreed in his imagination, and that was good enough for him. sasha shuffled his right foot back and forth, turning his attention down to the kennel sofia had stuck her finger into.
the boy dropped to a crouch next to her, nose only a mere few inches away from the metal wiring. "it is okay! I will show you." sasha quickly shuffled closer to the kennel, excitement gleaming in his eyes. "yay! he is very kind too, you will like him!" he unlatched the bar to the kennel, ever so slowly reaching in to gather the senior cat in his arms without startling him. "he is not very good at seeing but he can hear a lot and he is good at smelling." sasha rattled off the small speech he'd memorized about that specific cat as he withdrew him from the kennel, cradling him gently in his arms. "here you go, you hold him just like this! it is hard to do it wrong, and he does not mind. he just likes for you to hold him." sasha pressed his nose into the top of the cat's head, snuggling him for a brief moment before he lifted his arms slightly for sofia to take from.
"you hold him! I have to go and get you some stuff for him and then you will be all set." sasha bowed his head, walking backwards slowly while motioning for sofia to follow. "you will come with me," sasha declared happily, clearly meaning no harm with how demanding his statement had come out. perhaps that was something he needed to work on. "what name does he have?" he questioned her, absentmindedly bustling around the file cabinet until he withdrew a few folders. the cat had arrived with no name, and nobody in the shelter had given him one- sasha was clearly excited to finally have a name to refer to him by. sasha laid a handful of papers in front of Sofia along with a pen. "this is the papers you have to write. then you can take him home. we also have collars and other items if you want to buy him things." sasha gestured briefly to the side of the room, where miscellaneous pet care items were organized.
