Realistic or Modern Don’t Leave Me Like This

She smiled a little and rest her head back, still watching him. “Don’t you forget it.” She told him quietly, frowning a little as the baby started moving around again. “Do you think we were being silly? That maybe we shouldn’t have tried to have this baby?” She asked him quietly, worrying.

Eddie scoffed a bit, shaking his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He muttered. “She’s got enough baggage to handle anyway. Doesn’t need me to add to it.” He muttered, thanking him again and heading to his van to get back before the storm started to hit

Ivar frowned deeply at her question shaking his head immediately "No, you had been given the green light after six years of us being told no. I don't think we were silly." He said quietly giving a heavy sigh "I think the gods just wanted to test us further."

Max sat at home later that evening making some mac n cheese for dinner while Grayson played in the little living area. She was thankful that she could watch him easily with how compact the space was and still cook dinner. She smiled hearing a knock at the door and immediately rushed over after turning the stove off. She opened the door giving Eddie a wide smile "Hey there come in!" She said sweetly

Eddie smiled, heading inside with the tape, quickly fussing over getting his hair out of his face, "It's already getting a little wild out there." He told her, "Hey little buddy." He waved at Greyson who at least didnt rush to hide this time.

She frowned a little and shook her head "But maybe it's not fair for our little one." She mumbled. "I can't be a good mother if I can't be out of bed for more than twenty minutes at a time." She mumbled, rubbing at her face a little, "I just feel like we got too excited Ivar." She told him quietly.

Max smiled happily at him and nodded some "I know! Its gonna be a bad one for sure." she said laughing lightly as Greyson giggled at Eddie "Seems like he is warming up a bit." she said while closing and locking the door "Hopefully the wind doesn't get much worse, I'll be worried this place will tip over." she told him as she made her way to the little kitchen area.

Ivar frowned deeply and gave a small nod "Perhaps...but I am sure we'll figure this out." he said quietly before kissing the top of her head repeatedly "We'll be able to take care of him just fine. You'll bounce back to being better and we'll be a family." he said trying to stay as positive as possible.

She just nodded, still leaning into him, resting her head on his shoulder, sniffling a little, "Don't go back to the chair." She pleaded with him quietly, moving a little so he could get comfy and just hugged him as she drifted back off to sleep.

He smiled and got the tape out, heading round to her windows "I don't think it's the wind to worry about tonight but the hail stones." He told her, "Meant to get some big ones. If you get really worried though me and Wayne are only five doors down. The one with my van out front, come bang on our door if you like." He told her smiling.

Ivar moved to sit with her better and gave a small sigh "I'm staying right here love." he whispered as he held her close "I've also put some work over to Ubbe and Hvitserk, that way I can focus just on you." he said as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Max blushed lightly and gave a small nod "Well thank you for the offer." she said sweetly before she started to continue on the food. She kept an eye on Grayson and frowned seeing as he tried to go for Eddie's rings that he had taken off "Oh Eddie! Can you grab your rings?! Or pick him up? He's trying to go for them, I don't want them ending up in his mouth!" she called trying to hurry up and not burn the food.

Ragnar was the first one to get there to see them. Wanting to make sure they were getting the care they needed. “How is she doing?” He asked Ivar soon as he sat down.

Eddie turned and quickly went to grab them off the table. “Oh no buddy those aren’t toys.” He chuckled. “Those are for my fingers.” He told her smiling.

Max finished up and gave a small roll of her eyes as Grayson's lip stuck out as he stared at Eddie before he started to cry "Oh now don't you start that. You know those aren't yours." She said as she picked him up and got him in his highchair "He was be so dramatic at times." She told Eddie as he finished up on a window.

Ivar looked up when he heard the door giving a small frown when he saw his father come in. He shrugged a bit before speaking "Not good as you can tell, she's in the hospital." He muttered a bit coldly.

Ragnar rolled his eyes and just leaned back. “Don’t be facetious Ivar.” He muttered, “Obviously she is not well. We know this already.” He muttered.

Eddie chuckled as he watched him. “Just like his mom then yeah?” He teased, dodging as she went to swipe at him and finally finished doing her windows. “Right. You need anything else?” He asked her genuinely, smiling as he watched her, completely smitten.

Ivar frowned deeper and sighed heavily "Then why ask such stupid questions?" He muttered before looking at Carmen for a moment "We think the baby is causing too much stress on her body. She it struggling to stay awake more than ten minutes."

Max gasped and swatted at him before making a small bowl for Grayson to eat once it cooled down. She gave Eddie a small smile and shook her head some "Uh not right now I don't think..would you like to stay for dinner?" She asked not really wanting to him to leave just yet even though she knew he would need to soon.

He paused then nodded. “Yeah, long as there’s enough for you as well. Can’t have you going hungry looking after this little one.” He smiled.

He frowned and nodded. “What can they do for her?” He asked him, “don’t get your back up with me about this Ivar. If you don’t want the help and support fine but I know your wife appreciates it.” He muttered.

Max smiled happily and made two bowls "I got enough for two." She said sweetly before passing his a bowl and spoon "Come sit.'" She said leading him to her tiny dining table while she pulled Grayson's high chair towards it as well.

Ivar frowned deeply ready to protest but soon stopped when he mentioned how Carmen appreciates the help "We're unsure right now....they will need to run some tests. Maybe try some different medications." He explained quietly

He nodded slowly, watching his daughter in law and sighed a little. “I was just on my way into the office. You’ve delegated your work to the others yes?” He asked him, standing up. “I will make sure they know it’s to be done until you want it back then you get it back no questions…. You should get out of the bed. You’re going to make your hips worse.” He warned him before leaving them to privacy once more.

Eddie smiled and sat down, chuckling at the way gregson was still watching him like a hawk. “I’m not here to steal your mom I promise bud.” He told him.

Max giggled softly before she started on heloing Grayson eat "He is such a cheeky little boy." She said before making silly faces at Grayson "He loves funny faces." She murmured watching Eddie a little.

Ivar grumbled quietly before getting up once he was out of thr room. He tried his best to move the chair next to her giving a heavy sigh.

The next time she woke up it had gone dark outside the window and she glanced over to see Ivar with some kind of noodle soup, frowning a little. “Hey… what you got there?” She asked, looking worse despite the several hours of rest.

He nodded and just sat quietly while he ate, keeping a close eye on them both. Already he was imagining himself in their lives and he knew he was gonna either have to actually act on his feelings or stop entertaining those thoughts. He’d been let down by so many people in his life that it terrified him being rejected by her

Ivar looked up at Carmen when he heard her voice "Hey beautiful, just a little cup of noodles." He murmured frowning at how she looked "How are you feeling?" he asked quietly before pressing the call button.

Max smiled softly when she caught Eddie staring at her "What are you staring at huh?" She teased giving a small laugh when she saw him blushing.

He quickly shook his head and smiled a little. “Nothing you just…. Remind me of someone when you’re doing stuff with him.” He told her.

She frowned a little and gripped her sheets a little. “I dunno… I feel weird.” She told him quietly, struggling to breathe even with the help and went quiet, her eyes glazing over a little.

Max smiled some and raised an eyebrow "Oh yeah? Who?" She asked as she went back to helping feed Grayson letting her own food sit to the side until he was done.

Ivar frowned even more seeing how her eyes glazed and quickly pressed the button repeatedly. He got up as quickly as possible and grabbed his crutches trying to make it quickly to the hallway. He finally got there and yelled for help right as her alarms started going off.

The staff flooded her room while one nurse helped get Ivar outside so they had room to work, not needing to have him in the way, soon moving a crash cart into the room and still not allowing him to even see what was happening.

He waved her off as he finished his food. “Oh it uh… thanks for the food. Give us a knock if you need anything.” He told her, getting his bowl into the sink and ruffled greysons hair a little before heading out and going back to his uncles place

Ivar frowned deeply as they escorted him out of the room. He began to worry and freak out though when he noticed the crash cart being taken in "Whats going on?! Whats happening to my wife?!" He yelled as he tried to get through.

Max frowned a bit at how quickly he left them but gave a small sigh. She went on with the rest of her night silently thanking Eddie as the storm finally came through and her windows stayed intact.

“Mr. Lothbrok if you could just wait out there please. We will be with you as soon as possible.” Her nurse told him, closing the door behind her. Soon as possible turned out to be almost an hour and finally someone came to get him.

Greysons woke up several times through the night to different loud thunder claps, insisting in the end on staying with max, falling asleep only once he was curled up in her arms.

Ivar stood up as quickly as he could when a nurse finally came out of the room "Whats going on? Are my wife and son okay?!" He asked worriedly.

Max was exhausted by the morning completely missing her alarm as she slept with Grayson. She didn't wake up until she heard a banging on her door and Eddie's voice. She shot up and gasped as she saw the time rushing to the door to see what he needed "Shit! Eddie I slept through my alarm! Can you hold him a minute while I get dressed?!" She asked frantically.

He had just gone round to check how her trailer was holding up, smiling a little as she handed him the child who seemed less than pleased about it but too sleepy still to argue it. “Max… hey max… hey…. It’s Saturday.” He reminded her with a chuckle.

Her nurse frowned a little and motioned for him to come into the room. “She went into cardiac arrest and whilst we did manage to get a pulse back we have her now on life support. Baby is still okay for now…. Mr lothbrok there is a very difficult decision that needs to be made.”

Max stopped dead in her tracks when she heard him and frowned "Its Saturday?" She asked before groaning a bit "I'm always getting lost on days. Especially when I don't have work. Thankfully I got a shift tonight though." She rambled while walking towards him to get Grayson.

Ivar frowned deeply feeling his stomach drop when she said life support. It was like his nightmares were coming true. He took a deep breath and gave a small nod to the nurse "What is the decision?"

He chuckled and passed him back over. “All your plant pots were across your yard but I put ‘em back for you.” He told her.

Her doctor was finishing up with her and turned to speak to Ivar. “We got two options. Either we keep her on the life support and hope she doesn’t continue to deteriorate and then when baby hits 24 weeks we induce her and hope for the best for both of them. Option two, she has baby now so the extra strain is taken away and she has a much better chance of recovery.” Be explained to him. “But option two I’m afraid it would not be possible for your son to survive.”
