Don't Go in the Graveyard~!

Have you ever heard of Grave Town? Of course not; no one has. It is a tiny place, made up of a few buildings. The small amount of people living there are used to calm, boring lives, since they live in an area where nothing ever happens. It is called Grave Town for it contains a graveyard which takes up most of the space, an eerie place where no one ever ventures. Some people have gone missing, but it is more plausible that they had run away from such drab lives than that the graveyard had consumed them. The missing ones were all free spirits, as told by those who knew them.

On the day the dreary town is supposed to get renovated, the mayor collapses and dies in the middle of a speech. A burial is held a few days later, around the edge of the graveyard, where things turn peculiar. Some of the residents hear a song. It is a song like no other, with a sweet melody echoing through the fog. The voice calls out to these people, as if beckoning them to come.

The people around them begin to melt. Their flesh simply drops away from their bones as they stand there. The song continues, louder and louder, until the ones who hear it collapse... They wake up in a strange place, with no one else around them. It takes some looking around to realize that they are deep in the town's graveyard, the mist clouding away any chance of seeing the exit. The trees are gnarled and ferocious, twisting every which way in the desperate search for sunlight, and the graves look ancient. Behind each person is a piece of stained glass embedded in the apparent wall, with the funeral scene just behind it, and shades of overlapping black are found to both sides of them, as if a wall had been built to keep them there. The only way to go is forward. A girl is standing further away. Her head turns and a smirk shows, before she is gone, leaving you lost in the graveyard...

  • The premise is basically that a bunch of people living in a town where nothing ever happens end up in the town's graveyard. I'm thinking that the ages would involve teenagers, since the original plan was for only 'free spirits' to end up stuck in the graveyard. These free spirits can't escape their dull lives, not unless they run away, since they aren't viewed as adults yet. The actual spirits which reside in the graveyard would pull these people in, the assumption being that they are envious of their freedom. The real reason would be up for discussion, of course.

@Stamper It's not just one ghost, but yes, I'd prefer a PM. I think that it would be best to do ghosts after the thread is up and some characters have been made, however, because it's better for ghosts to be connected to characters in some ways.

That's my idea, anyway, though anyone can feel free to give me their own ideas.

I'd love to be someone's twin, and I like the idea you put up there. If anyone wants to join me there :D
Ooh! Ooh! You can be my twin brother, we can be the rich bitch twins xD

If you want of course though! <3

I would be happy to be your twin, @lostviolence !!

I saw above that you wanted to play as a snooty rich girl, so I think it would be interesting contrast for her twin to be the silent type. <33

Like, you're the girl everyone popular likes, and I'm the guy who kind of intimidates people, so he doesn't have a lot of friends. :) Just a thought~

That would be a great idea for them to be complete opposites!

I'll be the just casual bitchy Queen Bee who is casually dating the hottest boy in school while your just standing outside punching some nerd xD

That would be amazing hun! <33

@ducksndragons Oh that's great to hear! I can't wait to see what you will cook up.

@JohnNeko and @lostviolence I love that you two are making character relationships already. Your contrasting characters will surely make the roleplay all the more fun. We'll have to talk about the possibility of one twin planning to kill the other... Although, of course, killing will only be allowed with permission and it may not even end up happening. Just the failed attempts would be interesting. We'll talk about it, I'm sure!

I'm so happy to see that people are taking interest! I'd love to see a few more volunteer to create characters, just so we can get a good, interesting group together. For my own character, I think I'll have him in the "love triangle" if @lostviolence is alright with that. I'm thinking of making him the guy that was dumped by your character, for the emotions of jealousy and anger would be intriguing to play out.

Also, if everyone is fine with the idea, I'd like every character to have a 'fatal flaw.' This would basically be a trait or two that would allow a character to be influenced by a ghost. No, it couldn't be used freely, it is just that I have had experiences where people are so set on making their characters "good" that they refuse to fall under bad influences. It doesn't make for a good story. Some manipulation would surely be interesting, don't you think? But, again, no ideas are set in stone. I'm just trying to figure out what would work best and would love everyone's opinions.

Bumping this! I'll most likely be making the thread in a day or two, I just hope that a few more people express their interest.

I like the manipulating idea as long it doesn't go too far if you know what I mean? I've had some experiences where people took over my character as they were a ghost, supernatural etc and it wasn't fun anymore :c And of course you character can be in the fabulous love triangle!

Yes, of course! I'm not thinking of possessions at all, to be honest, just simple whispers in the ear, vocal manipulation. Maybe even some hallucinations created within the graveyard, lies told to get characters to hate each other. It seems better to make the characters think that the ghosts are their 'friends', in a way, that they actually want to "help them" get out. Makes it A LOT more fun that way. I do apologize for not having clarified.

So, I'll most likely be creating the thread soon. Tomorrow, I think. It's okay that not many have shown interest, a small group of people is easier to manage.
