This is a rp between @Yuuki of the Strata

In the near distant future, everything that we know of a democratic capitalist nation has fallen into anarchy. The government had failed us. No more presidents, no more legislature. All of it crumbled with the ignorance of one man. But among the ashes rose a phoenix-- eight very important and influential entities came together to hold up the nation and replace the government. Corporate companies, prominent families, even influential independents banned together to create order from the oncoming anarchy. They created

Was this a good idea? Well, shit, of course it was. There wasn't a thing that Natalia did that was anything but a good idea. It came with the territory of being a genius. Anyone who questioned her... well would probably end up like her acquaintance that currently lay on the table before her. Her eyes scanned over the pieced together being, part flesh, part biomechanical. Okay, well, maybe this wasn’t intended. Not to this extreme. The fucker wasn’t supposed to die. Natalia absolutely despised when her plans went wrong. She had made sure to consider all x-variables. All except for one white haired problem.

Well, the body of the problem, excluding Ryuunosuke, was in her possession as well. What was left of it. Even if it was nearly obliterated, the specimen was nearly perfect as physical attributes. She would use it for future production lines. But, that was beside the point. Ryuu, the dolt, was still unconscious on the table before her. She had just finished the masterpiece that would be second to only CHEIRA. Well, almost finished. Last to do was the heart which would bring him back from the dead. There was a small jolt of pride that she will have actually accomplished the impossible. Her own brand of Philosopher’s stone.

She held the fission powered sphere in her hand, looking it over as it glowed a mixture of many colors, red the most vibrant. A personal touch really, since Red seemed to go well with Ryuunosuke. Carefully, she proceeded to insert it into his chest, soldering it into the rest of his body. Lastly, she injected nano-bytes that would make the core transmute to him. After closing his chest, she moved to carefully dress him. Wouldn’t want to wound his pride more by having him bare in front of her. After buttoning the last of buttons, tying his tie, she stood back to look him over. A small, very Netty-like smile tugged at her lips. A new pet.

She flipped the panel on her arm, accessing his wavelength and basically turning him on. An initial whirring let her know it all was in order, and then it went silent.

“Oi, Onii-san. Wake up.” Natalia ordered, slipping off her gloves and waiting for a response.

The last Ryuunosuke Shinozuka would remember was the feeling of falling. He had given a smirk to the man that--for the last several years--had continuously destroy what little humanity Ryuu had left. He had pulled a checkmate, sacrificing everything to end the game in a draw. His smirk, and a small chuckle as he stared into the furious yet dead eyes of the man that had not only manipulated and murdered his son, but took every sense of sanity from the businessman.

Everything had gone black. Surely he had died. He had died and he was going to leave the cycle of life that was his very own hell. He was escaping his fate and finally he would be able to rest in peace with his lover from so long ago. But in the darkness, he could hear a faint voice. It was muffled at first, then echoed. Onii-san..... There was only one that had called him that.

Ryuunosuke jerked to life, gasping and instantly clutching his left side. His hand gripped his chest where his heart was supposed to be, then slid to his shoulder. He was...alive? His eyes shot open and though blurry at first, soon adjusted. The first thing he saw was a smiling Natalia. He couldn't believe his eyes. He knew he had died. He had seen himself fall and no one was around to save him. He remembered being blown in half and....

"....Why?" he mustered, voice raw. There was only one way to explain this. Netty had saved him. What cruel sick joke this was. He thought she understood better. The thought they even in their rivalry, they had a commonality. If it was still so...why was he still...

Her eyebrow rose, before both brows furrowed in the middle. Was he really asking why? Really?! Natalia was honestly fucking offended. She pretty much just did the impossible by bringing someone back from the dead and he asks ‘why?’ She had to take a deep breath as to not lose it right there. Really, she’d wished he asked how. Even if he might not understand it. He was still an asshole.

‘Why?’ Well why the fuck not, asshole.

Her thoughts went quiet as she remembered who this was. Ryuunosuke probably could care less so shed have to let it go. A bloody shame really. As she let him sit in silence for a moment, she pulled out something similar to a vapor nicotine pen. She still smoked cigarettes, but this was purely for when she was working in her labs. She sucked off of it, looking him over a little before finally speaking as she let the vapor out in a breath.

Because it’s not time for you to die yet. My plan’s not finished.” She spoke as if this were obvious and normal. Mostly because to her it pretty much was, there shouldn’t be a question of that. “Really, throwing yourself off the damn building was a bad way to go down too, there was only a fraction left of you and made me work harder than I should have. You shouldn’t have died yet. . . Or at all.” Nice correction at the end.

Her eyes continued to scan him over as she sucked off the pen, the cybernetic orbs scanning over him to make sure everything was in working order, which it was no surprise that it was. Honestly, she could care less how he felt about the situation. At the moment, she was only concerned with how her work was fairing. “How do you feel? Burning? Acidic? Do you taste lith—nevermind, you probably don’t know what it tastes like. Anything abnormal?” She stared at him expectantly.

Her attention to him was different than before. He wasn’t just an equal as before, but now her creation as well. One of her own, in a manner of speaking.

Was she serious? Was she serious? Of all the people...he thought this woman before him would be the one to understand. Yet here he was. There she was. They were staring at each other and Ryuu felt his stomach knot up and turn. He felt sick and livid at the same time. He wanted out of this endless circle. His fate, predetermined, and he knew one day he would fall. He wanted to fall. He wanted everything to crash and burn. But...here he was. The man glanced down at himself, raising his hand back up to feel over the folds of his suit. His hand slightly trembled, but with a few calming breaths, it stopped.

Closing his eyes, he remained silent. In what little tone Natalia had, she was curious. He...really was a project of her's now, wasn't he? Between their little chess game, his queen had been cornered and knocked off of the table. On the metaphoric floor lay a black chess piece, the white standing tall and proud. Ryuu kept his head tilted forward. Slowly though, his shoulders started to shake.

And then came a very subtle chuckle.

The chuckle grew into laughter.

But this laughter wasn't one of a man that escaped death. It was of a man that was trapped in a never-ending vicious cycle. He wanted to cry, but no tears would come. No tears ever came to him. He wanted to tear out whatever replaced his heart. His hand pressed against his chest, then clawed at the material as he leaned forward in his laughter. It hurt to laugh to much. He wanted his ribs to crack and his lungs to burn. But they didn't.

Eventually his laughter subsided and he held his head. He knew now he couldn't dwell on this forever. Ryuunosuke Shinozuka was never one to dwell on things. He shut out the emotions attached and moved forward, calculating his next moves. It would be the same now. Slowly he fell into silence. And after another few moments, he sat back upright and stared at Natalia.

"I don't appreciate what you've done. But I do appreciate your work. I feel more alive than I've ever felt before."
