Winter in New York!

Amy left her Parker on the sideboard and started the coffee machine. It was extremly cold outside and the snow made her lately painted eye lashes stick together. A heavy sigh escaped from her mouth and she put off her red colored gloves. Than she started to raise the blinds, the Cozy Corner had to be open at 7 o'clock and she - the cafè's owner - hoped that the stuff would arrive soon. The coffeemachine was finished with brewing New York's best coffee and Amy made herself a cup.

Sam pulled his dark brown coat tighter around him. He opened the door to the small coffee shop and let the warm air surround him. He sighed gratefully and looked around for a place to set his things down.

(Sorry I'm kind of bad at this lol =P)

Charli gripped the hem of her coat, bustling inside to The Cozy Corner as fast as her short legs would take her. "Brr," she giggled softly and exclaimed, nodding at Amy as she headed in for her shift. Rounding the counter, she went to the back and hung her coat up, slipping an apron over her head and timing in. She then came back around and leaned against the counter, watching Amy pour herself a cup. "Still making the best, Am?" She grinned softly at her, watching the coffee pour into the cup.

Ren eagerly stepped into the Cozy Corner, one of his favourite places in the whole city. The chime of the closed door behind him reminded him that a new day had begun. He tightened the scarf around his neck and places his things in his usual spot, in the right hand corner where he could get a good view of the snowing city. He usually didn't do much when in the Cozy Corner. A few chats, studying, but nothing significant that made him go: 'wow' or 'huh'. But he could admit ot one thing, the coffee was amazing.

Amy looked up when the door opened and a pretty, brunette girl arrived at the Cozy Corner. "Charli, hey!", she welcomed the young woman with a hearty smile while pouring the coffee into a green colored cup with christmassy paintings. "Haha, of course. It will always be the best!" She took the cup placing it between her hands and sipped from the dark, hot fluid. A satisfied look appeared on her face and she rolled her eyes in a rapturously way. Then she heard the sound of the chimes and turned around casting a glance at the front room. A blonde boy entered the Cozy Corner and shortly after him, she saw a brunette guy stepping in and sitting down at a table. "I guess the workday started", she gave Charli a smile and placed her cup on the small table. "Could you arrange the cakes? I'll start with waiting tables. " She nodded at the fridge where they kept the baked goods and grabbed a small notepad from the counter while walking to one of the guests. "Hey Ren, it's pretty cold outside, isn't it? What do you want? We have some new brownies with caramel flavour and a bunch of new muffins with dried fruits. Ah, I love winter ... ", she chattered happily.

Ren lifted his head from the book he was reading and grinned; he was happy he was getting served so early. As Amy made the comment about the outside he glanced towards the window and nodding knowingly, turning back to the female. "Yeah. It's so damn cold. I just wanna stay here all day, but I still gotta attend class," Ren scrunched up his nose at the mention of work, and he just shrugged, "ah, you know what I always have, Am. That hot coffee of yours. But I'll try those brownies. They sound great." The male gave her a small wink and returned his attention back to his book.

Charli nodded contently and crossed over to the fridge, looking at the selection of cakes, a decorative organizing Charli already emerging from her. She picked some up, bringing them back to the case and placing them in carefully, tweaking them now and then. She heard Amy talking and looked up to see Ren, a regular. She smiled softly and continued her work, repeating the process of getting cakes of various shapes and sizes, and putting them in the glass case. She hummed a tune that had been stuck in her head all the while.

Sam wandered over to an empty table and set his backpack down, sighing. He figured he should buy something, but he didn't have a lot of money in his pocket at the moment.

"Coffee and a muffin, o-k," she said while noting the order with a loud pink ballpen. "Happy studying," she smirked and turned around facing the counter. Charlie was already there placing a cake in one of the cases. Amy smiled when watching the girl humming a tune while working. It had been pretty hard to set up the Cozy Corner, but now that she was standing here and watched one of her first empolyees, she was quite proud. When the blonde boy sat down on one of the wooden tables, she walked over to him and clothed her face with a friendly smile. "Hey there, no school today? What do you want? We have a very nice coffee in here and a wide range of cakes, muffins and brownies."

Sam looked up, startled. "Huh? Oh...um...yeah..what's the cheapest thing you have?" He felt bad, but he knew it wasn't his fault he had no money. "Or maybe, um...can I just have some water...? If that's okay?" He pulled a few crumpled dollar bills from his pocket, counting them silently. "I can't really afford much..."

Tom entered the store looking at the students crumpled up bills. "Here let me get that," he said pulling out a credit card. "Put it on that." He then smiled at the waitress and sat down taking off his jacket. He then inhaled the warm smell of the cafe. He loved this place. Picking up the menu he looked at the new items, smiling at each one.

Jaime sprinted down the block, slowing to a walk before reaching The Cozy Corner. She stepped into the shop, still panting from the run.

"Hey Amy, I'm so sorry I'm late, got caught up in traffic again and had to book it to get here." She jogged into the back room, tossing her coat onto a hanger and pulling on an apron. As she walked to the front, she pulled her hair into a messy bun and smiled sheepishly.

Ren grinned as Amy took his order and wandered off to a another customer. His book was starting to get good, but he couldn't help and look up every time the chime of the doorbell rung as a new customer or worker entered the café. His head whipped around as a man entered in the café, paying for a boy that looked about fourteen's meal. Ren's head then turned to look as another person entered, worker, as it seemed. He couldn't recognise her facial features as she whizzed past him and into the back room. He new every worker here, but he couldn't remember her name. Ja.. Jam- Ji? The male pondered as he turned back to his book.

Jaime grinned and waved as Ren, a regular customer, who was sitting by the window glanced at her.

She started up the espresso machine, and watched Amy flit about the room taking orders. Apart from the rare cappachino, Jaime never really had much to do on her shifts. She moved around behind the counter restlessly.

"A water? Okey," again she whipped her ballpen out and noted the order eagerly "I'll add some cooki- ," she hesiated when another man stepped in pulling out a creditcard. "Well that's nice," she whispered to herself and wondered wether she would be able to do so. When he raised a smile, she nodded at him kindly. The doorbell ring again and she turned around recognizing Jamie. Sighing with relief, she greeted the girl while waving her hand. "Hey Jamie, happy to see you. There's so much to do. The Cozy Corner is booming!"

Ren silently laughed at himself, face-palming internally as he heard the girl's name be spoken out. Right. Jaime. Ha, how could I forget? Ren raised his head again and waved back to her, just as enthusiastically, mimicking her grin as he held out his other hand and made a gesture that looked like he was drinking tea. He hoped she would get it as he raised an eyebrow after he did the gesture.

Jaime reaches for her back pocket, as she checks to see where Amy is in the room and if she could get away with pulling out her French dictionary while she's at work. University is hard, and she curses herself for ever deciding to take four language classes at once, even if they are low level.

She sees Ren wave back and mime...drinking? She points to the espresso machine and raises an eyebrow back at him.

"Oh..." Sam stared. "Thank you, sir." He looked down at the floor as the waitress walked off. When he looked up the man was gone, and he was pretty sure that he hadn't said it loud enough. He contemplated going over and saying it again, but he decided not to. He sat down and reached into his backpack to get out his notebook.

Tom sat down his menu and looked up, hearing something. Turning his head to the boy he raised an eyebrow. "Did you say something." He then turned to the waitress and raised an eyebrow mentally asking for service. What was she doing, reading a book about France? Ahh he was glad he was rich.

Sam stared at the blank page, wondering what to do. After a bit of contemplation, he took out a pencil and began to sketch the outline of what would soon be a head. The head was extended by a neck, and below that the shoulders. Next was deciding who it would be of. He glanced around the coffee shop in search of a model.

Ren grinned as Jaime took his message, and he nodded as she pointed over tot he espresso machine. He gestured to her his drinking action again, and then pointing to himself. What he was practically saying was: Coffee, for me, please. Although their silent chat would look a little strange to others, he enjoyed it, and grinned again as he tore his gaze away from her and glanced around the room. Business was high, at the moment, especially because the Cozy Corner opened only about 10 minutes ago and it's business was booming. And he was happy for that.

Waiting for the service tom impatiently tapped the table. Nothing had ever taken this long at the mansion... But then again the mansion never seemed as cozy as this. Tom looked at the silent chat of the waitress and the customer. Who shows up to work and has to be signalled to actually do her job?!?!? He then looked as his watch and leaned back, not wanting to be late to meet his mom.

Jaime quickly started a cup of coffee for Ren. She glanced up as it brewed, watching Ren bemusedly. The coffee maker beeped at her, and too late she wondered what kind of coffee he had wanted. Well, he was getting a latte. She drew a large heart in the foam, walking over and setting it down in front of Ren with a wink, before approaching another man who was sitting a little bit apart.

"Hi, have you been served yet? I'm sorry if you haven't. It's just that I'm not technically a waitress or anything, and Amy's been a bit busy. Would you like anything?"

"Fine, fine," Tom said keeping cool. "I would like some of those nice brownies and a cup of hot chocolate, I dislike coffee." He then pulled out another credit card. "I know you're not a waitress, but how much is this?"

Sam sighed. Maybe he would just write some more of his song instead. He put back his sketch pad and took out his notebook. The music notes seemed to dance along the page as he hummed the tune quietly to himself. He tried to think up some lyrics. Da da da da da da....he groaned to himself and collapsed onto the table, his hands over his head.
