I express the oc's voice, and almost always provide a 4th wall breaking narrator.

Partially because its a neat dynamic, its my writing style, and its fun.

I do explain the thoughts of my characters because I'm an over-thinker and I honestly wish people would hear my thoughts sometimes so the links I make make sense to them. Some bonds that seem obvious to me don't always to others and so - naturally - what comes off to me as "normal thinking" appears often in my characters, even accidentally. This led to an inside joke in my group of friends called "Alex's Rule of Virginal Sacrifice" which can basically be summed up as; "If you give Alex enough time to think and let him explain it, he can make the solution to any problem be the sacrifice of a virgin." (Note: That doesn't actually happen nearly as often as the existence of the rule implies.)

The thing is, though I am aware of the problem, it IS my logical method of thinking and to me, this seems rational. Therefore, this - often unintentionally - ends up translating in the behavior of my characters. Therefore, because I know the logic behind an action I or one of my characters takes is not obvious to most, I usually write out the thoughts of my characters, especially when over-thinking occurs, to avoid having to justify the act OoC later on.

Example off the top of my head:

At one point, in an RP, we were fighting a specifically exclusively carnivorous creature (it's name escapes me at the moment.) It had an armor-like shell and its one weak point was at the top of its head, so we needed to get it to bow down just to reach it (it was huge and for various reasons we didn't have an archer in our group). So my character started force-feeding it lettuce. Seems random, right? But it makes perfect sense once you get why.

My "logical" thought process, which translated to my character was as follows:

How could we get it to bow down? Wait... what do we know about it? So it only eats meat, right? What else only eats meat... Oh yeah, tigers! Big cats only eat meat. Why do they only eat meat again... *wikipedias* they don't have the right enzymes in their systems to digest vegetation... but some large cats eat greens on purpose to induce vomiting! THAT'S IT! My character is a hunter, so it would make sense for him to know this. That's not meta-play, right? Alright... what do I have in my inventory that could. Oh, the lettuce from the farmer from two adventures back. That'll do. (We were in the desert so just picking some grass off the floor would not have been possible).

In the end, it all worked out. The GM - while he didn't expect it to even come into play - had considered that as one of the weaknesses of the creature. This force-feeding caused the creature to bow down so it could regurgitate, and our Lancer drove his spear right through its skull, killing it in one blow. After a fight which had lasted a little over 30 posts and had cost us a lot of resources and relatively grievous injuries, the other members of the team were really happy about my odd mindset.
