Video Games Do any of you like The Witcher series of games?

Quen is good but I would also advise figuring out blocking and parrying. Especially because it gives you the opportunity to essentially one hit all/most human[oid] enemies in the game. Monsters less so but it's a powerful skill to have as a player.

As for beauty, well you're not getting that if you are in Velen. Gotta play through it.

Thanks! I might resume my Witcher 3 campaign because of you. Thanks.

Is it necessary to be a crafter to have strong armor? I just pick up whatever I find from dead human bodies. Do I need to change that?

If you're in the early game that's sufficient. Later on once you unlock crafting recipes you can craft better armor generally. If I remember right the best sorts of armor are the Witcher School sets you can find hidden throughout the game. There are little treasure hunt type quests for them where you'll stumble on some cache or bodies of people who stole blueprints for Witcher gear, hid them and wrote riddles before being subsequently killed.

I killed a dragon and some giant insects. I think a group of them are a spider breed. Well anyway, I acquired their scales or whatever. I had a feeling I'd need those for great armor at some point. Was that good thinking?

I guess one thing I have to argue against the Witcher 3 is that although the video you showed me had a beautiful town and how it's more aesthetic than all the towns in Skyrim, you also have to keep in mind that for every one such Witcher 3 city, there are five in an Elder Scrolls game. Five even in just Skyrim alone. Oblivion has more plus the Imperial City. And that specific town in the Witcher 3 is only as great as one of countless cities/towns in the Elder Scrolls Online map.

There are literally undead cemeteries in Elder Scrolls that look prettier than certain areas in Elden Ring.

Also, although combat in The Witcher 3 looks better, it is still niche fencing style combat that has that and nothing else. Whereas in Skyrim, you build your own character from the bottom up and fight however you want to fight.

Let me introduce you to Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The most frustrating medieval sim

I prefer mundane realism over fantastical idealism. It's the reason I prefer Elder Scrolls over Final Fantasy. Generally speaking, American/Western/European roleplaying video games lean in more towards gritty realism instead re-writing the laws of physics in the game world so everything looks dope and cool. Compare Devil May Cry versus Mass Effect, for instance. Both are sci fi RPGs, but Devil May Cry is about everything needing to be Shounen Anime levels of epic while Mass Effect games want you to see your close allies have their boring, human characteristics. And then combat has you shooting with "Murican" pistols instead of starting nuclear warfare with your Frieza-from-DBZ fingertips.

The Witcher 3 has realistic themes, albeit too disturbing for my tastes. I love its realism. I just hate how too dark it is. Skyrim is a little bit more idealistic than The Witcher 3, but not by much. It's forgivable.

Maybe I'll end up loving Kingdom Come Deliverance? lol. I havent bought that game yet.

Well, either way, I'll likely continue my Witcher 3 campaign because of you, AaronMK. I just need more free time. Elder Scrolls Online is about the only game I have time to play nowadays. I'm a workaholic...
